Great Indian restaurant on Ropergate in Pontefract. A good selection of all the traditional dishes along with some cracking specials. Service here is welcoming and efficient. They operate a bring your own alcohol and sell a selection of soft drinks. Definitely worth stopping by if you are in the area, one of the beat Indians I have had for a long time, will definitely return!!

A policeman recommended this restaurant as I was visiting for first time. Not disappointed. Fairly quiet at first but more customers came later. Waj the manager made me welcome. Young lady served me and smiled throughout. £15.99 for popadums starter main course coffee and mints. Ordered a Nan as an extra. It came the size of a large pizza. All the food was fantastic. Cobra was ice cold. Complimentary Baileys too. I saw some negative reviews when I checked on line. Must have been a bad night. Would certainly come again if ever in Wakefield again. Great restaurant. Well done Waj and your team keep smiling.

Last night I got a chicken vindaloo with all the sundries. I have been eating curries especially hot ones for over 35 years and this curry was definitely the best I have had in many years so tasty. This post was done nearly 2 years ago, I had the same meal a week ago and the curry was absolutely awfull weather the chef has been changed or what i can't understand why it has changed so much. Horrible curry.

Family of four visit with two older teens for my sons 17th birthday. Went to the Sunday buffet on Sunday 29th September 2024 at 6pm. Had booked a table and given details of sons birthday... there was no confirmation sent to email or text message to confirm.Aargrah used to be a quality place to eat 10 years ago...which was why we decided to give it a go. The Sunday buffet was £15.95- summer special. Limited choice of food- many of the tureens for starters were quite empty. The kebabs were dry and overcooked, the vegetable pakoras were cold. There were no chips available in the tureen. the rice tureen was quite empty. The positive was the Naan breads were cooked fresh and could be ordered.. It seemed short staffed... While they asked how the food was as a courtesy, I didn't give a positive reply, but they didn't follow up. We paid the bill and left. We definately won't go back and certainly wouldn't recommend this place to friends, family or even enemies. Aargrah in Wakefield doesn't live up to the reputation it once had...in my opinion.

Such friendly attentive staff. The food was delicious especially the vegetable pakoras and onion Bhajis which were so fresh and crispy. We had fish curry, chicken tikka Balti and prawn korma all of which were great. The pashwari naan and aloo paratha were really tasty and the garlic rice was delicious. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

I cannot believe that this place gets any good reviews especially when it comes to the dishes. Ordered 4 different curries all looked the same red glupe no herbs very bland I certainly will never purchase a curry from this place again £45 waste of money.
