The best restaurants in Wakefield Yorkshire and The Humber

I have walked past this place many times and wondered what it was like. I didn’t know they did take aways but they do so we tried one on Saturday night. We ordered lots of different dishes including their green curry and salt & pepper chips. It was absolutely delicious and everyone said it was one of the best take away meals they had ever had. We will definitely be ordering here again and I only wished I had found it sooner!

My mum and I visited this gorgeous little cafe in Normanton. If you’re local to the area, it’s a great little spot for some brunch/lunch and the staff are all really friendly too. The menu isn’t huge but offers a good range of different options that are all very reasonably priced. The cafe is quite small inside but we didn’t struggle to find a seat. We visited for breakfast. I ordered the banana on toast which came with peanut butter, maple syrup and blueberries. It was definitely the best banana on toast I’d ever had! Being local to the area, I’m surprised I’ve never been here before, I will certainly be returning!

I am not a vaper but I love this place! The range of freshly ground and filtered coffee beans is absolutely amazing! And Les and Ann (owner and his Mum) are lovely people, as is their assistant, Liam. Les is self-taught about coffee beans and tobacco juicing. He makes some of his own juices for vaping and has an extensive range. We love to bob in for a coffee, complimentary Lotus biscuits and a good chinwag on their 3 person sofas. I wish they would put a little cafe seating where the coffee is ground besides the seating in the vaping lounge.

Very reasonable pricing, with a friendly face and great chat, no sandwich shops in my area but this was the closest and will definitely be using again!

Yumi Thai is a takeaway rather than a restaurant, but it's a takeaway with a difference. Yupa cooks all the food in her own kitchen so it is proper quality home cooked food. The food is excellent and great value. It's way better than any shop takeaway.

Our first visit (but not our last) to this new bar and restaurant. The chef did an amazing job producing 4 different meals with skill. All meals were top quality from t bone steak to pasta. It is a small gem in Wakefield that you need to visit to appreciate. Friendly and helpful staff and a personal visit from the chef helped make this an enjoyable experience- with cocktails as well.

I've been coming here for years and never ate anything I didn't love. I'm not vegan however if I could cook this well I probably would be. Greg (owner) is a lovely human being and always up for a chat.

Wow. Probably one of the friendliest welcomes to an eatery we’ve ever had. Much appreciated. Food so good. So much choice. Very efficient and quick service too. It’s a place you feel you would just keep coming back to (but sadly we live a bit far away). Great ethos. Great vibe. Can’t wait to go back. And such good value for money.

Visited Gallimore's bar and restaurant today. Amazing food, nothing to fault at all. Excellent choices, food hot, friendly waitresses and waiters. Already booked our next visit. Great food Craig

Dear all, Might be long here and it will worth your time. I’m please you are reading my review which is needed to know before you make your decision to visit. I am saying everything in my honest directly from my heart to Hidden. Over months I have driven passing this site in my Lorry and seeing something fancy inside I wonder what would it be. My mind keeps telling myself that I MUST visit as soon as possible. Yesterday I put my money where my mouth is, eventually, I went to Hidden Cafe after touring in Coal Mine Museum nearby as a solo person like a Lone Wolf. In that night of being as customer. Environment inside is so beautiful making my mind going to Shangri La. Whether it is an cafe or an mini restaurant or an bar or all of them! Doesn’t really matter because this urban place is an low key place in all set reasons of visiting. Even pop in for a ten minute drink with your friend. I had an well cooked golden pizza with three buns of garlic bread and an posh red wine in addition to my meal. An ace to the young marvellous chef called Milly. Both of the waitress are lovely and welcoming. Sharing stories and our conversations went up to joy and equally. Just like playing tennis. We speak a few lines and wait for the reply or respond instead of holding the ball for too long. We talked all sort of topics. Music, career, families, prologue, hobbies, future and more. Taking yard by yard. Life goes on. Another to mention, their music in the background is smooth, correct volume and matching to the room of relaxing. Somebody could say, ‘To the stars’.
