Agrah Indian Restaurant in Wakefield

Family of four visit with two older teens for my sons 17th birthday. Went to the Sunday buffet on Sunday 29th September 2024 at 6pm. Had booked a table and given details of sons birthday... there was no confirmation sent to email or text message to confirm.Aargrah used to be a quality place to eat 10 years ago...which was why we decided to give it a go. The Sunday buffet was £15.95- summer special. Limited choice of food- many of the tureens for starters were quite empty. The kebabs were dry and overcooked, the vegetable pakoras were cold. There were no chips available in the tureen. the rice tureen was quite empty. The positive was the Naan breads were cooked fresh and could be ordered.. It seemed short staffed... While they asked how the food was as a courtesy, I didn't give a positive reply, but they didn't follow up. We paid the bill and left. We definately won't go back and certainly wouldn't recommend this place to friends,family or even enemies. Aargrah in Wakefield doesn't live up to the reputation it once had...in my opinion.

Have eaten at a couple of aagrah restaurants before and this was not a patch on those, advertised buffet menu but was not available, poor service, place looks tired in need of a re fit, staff didn't seem.bothered, place was empty and they still forgot one of our starters, there was only 5 of us, peshawar nan was the worst I've had, drenched in honey and covered with sultanas, not like any other I've ever had, madras was bland not spicy, if you go to anbaagrah make sure it's not this one, the one at Thornbury is 100x times nicer

Worst curry ever! We ordered from Wakefield Aagrah for delivery. First they sent the wrong order so we had to wait for it all to be redelivered. They curries were floating in grease. Rice was unpleasant, onion bhaji tasted laggy and raw. We ordered garlic naan and they sent plain. The only saving grace for this expensive disaster were the popadums. Lesson learnt. Stick to the spiced mango in Middlestown in future

We love it here, visited a couple of times but mostly order to eat at home. Absolutely beautiful food, excellent service and friendly staff

Travelled a distance as the local and next nearest Aagrah has closed down. Unfortunately the venue, food and service left a lot to be desired. The beers and starters were pretty good. The soft drinks were watery. The mains were very disappointing, veg and meat dishes were bland and the chicken was tough, the sundries were good. Service was a bit sporadic and abrupt at times. All in all, not the Aagrah of old, what a shame, all we have now of the lovely food and management are the memories.

After a busy week there is no better restaurant in which to relax over delicious food than the Aagrah Wakefield. It is in our opinion the most welcoming Indian restaurant in west Yorkshire. They make you feel like a returning friend. We have had nothing but excellent food. The range of starter options is breathtaking. This time for our mains we chose the tandoori complete meal. A delicious and generous main served on a sizzling platter with a bowl of the most wonderful tandoori sauce we have ever tasted and a bowl of expertly cooked lemon rice. It was gorgeous and made for a fantastic evening. The staff are kind, considerate and attentive without being in any way overbearing. And whatever you do, leave room for a dessert (or icecream at least) presented magnificently with culinary art work in which they take special pride. The service makes you feel that they care for customers and they are always willing to respond to special dietary requirements. One of Yorkshire's best restaurants. A gem of a place.

Arrived at 515pm on a Saturday night, first people in! Decor bit dated but clean. Lots of staff, friendly and helpful. Food was amazing. Very good portions, had to bring naan breads home! Would visit again.

This was our 1st family meal after covid and we weren't disappointed. As always we all ordered different dishes, which were all cooked to perfection. Even the vegetarian in the family is always blown away by the choice and the standard of vegetarian dishes. To top it off on a busy Friday night the service was impeccable. We can never fault this restaurant, the staff or the food and we will continue to recommend it to anyone and everyone.

First visit in a while. Service was fine, but the usual menu wasn’t available just their event catering (limited) menu, no explanation of why. Food was ok, but not as good as I remember it being. My chicken dish had strange strips of chicken and no sauce to speak of. No drinks menu given. When the bill came, it wasn’t itemised, and seemed a lot for the meal we had.

Brilliant, we have eaten here many times. Had a takeaway tonight it was probably the best Indian meal we have had ever. Everything was spot on: chicken tikka masala, sag paneer, lamb Madras, chicken hydrabaldi all cooked to perfection, couldn't fault it. Roti and poppadoms lovely, nice and fresh. Well worth it, give yourself a treat during lockdown!

Not been here for many years but on our return it's just as good as ever. Lamb achar was tender meat with rich spicy flavour. King prawn achar just as good. Man bread and rice as good as ever. Top marks, dished we lived nearer!
