The best restaurants serving Indian food in South Tyneside North East

We booked dinner tonight to celebrate my sisters 50th birthday, this is our ‘go to’ place for Indian food, we love the restaurant and the staff, Shah and the team always make you feel welcome. The food was amazing as always, I always highly recommend Delhi 6 to friends and family due to the continual first class service and food. Now the reason I am posting a review this evening in particular is in fact due to the service, tonight was a busy night for the restaurant, we had ordered our food and drinks and were happily sitting chatting away, a little bit of time had passed when the waiter approached the table with our plates for our main meals, we explained we had not had our starters as yet, this was quickly sorted out and soon our starters arrived, again amazing food! A little bit later we had our mains, one meal was incorrect, however again this was sorted out in a moment, again amazing food! Now my review and comments here are not to be viewed as annoyed/angry/upset, instead my review is that of thanks, it is thanks to the team and Shah and his business partner, they in fact were more concerned over our experience, we reassured them that this was not at all any problem, we in fact had enjoyed a really nice evening celebrating my sisters birthday and enjoying good food, drink and family time, that is all that mattered tonight. I feel at times folk fly off the handle about slow service/mistakes in service etc but i honestly cannot fault any part of this evening. Shah, thank you and thank you to your team, this was the perfect night for my family, please do not feel there was any failing on the part of our service and experience, if anything we were more concerned that you guys were okay, you were run off your feet! For anyone looking for a proper good and tasty Indian food experience, this is the place!

Waited 45 minutes even though we made a reservation.

I have been a regular of Ginger for a few years now and there is a reason for this. The food is absolutely superb and the customer service is by far the best I've ever experienced of any restaurant. It's such warm and welcoming atmosphere every time. They really care about the customers and have a variety of different tasty dishes that are produced by an excellent chef. I highly recommend Ginger to anyone wanting an amazing dining experience with excellent food.

The food and service here were excellent. The staff were very pleasant, friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The portions were large and of good quality. We travelled from Birmingham to visit relatives and were not sure it would be as good as our Birmingham Balti triangle, but it exceeded all expectations . Will definitely return and highly recommend.

We have been repeat customers for many years, returning for holiday we called and ordered a takeaway as we had nothing in the house. We were advised an hour for delivery. In the hour I received a call asking to confirm our address as the driver couldnt find our house. The driver was in a different town 15 mins away as who took our order noted the address incorrectly. I asked would the food still be hot and was assured it would be. 20 minutes after the call confirming our address the food was delivered. The containers were smashed and puddles of curry in the bag. Moreso the food was warm at best. I sent photos of the food and also called the restaurant to get it rectified but was basically called a liar. Yes the food may have been hot when it left the restaurant but driving around looking for an address that didnt exist and then a further 20 minutes to my address the food most certainly didnt arrive hot. Short of £30 in the bin. We will definitely not be returning and will not be making any more recommendations to family and friends after this experience.

Poor order and no for reason , I was spending a lot of money

Have been going here for years. The food is first class. I always order the special and have enough food to feed me for two meals. The offer is very good value for money currently only twelve pounds fifty. I have no hesitation in recommending The Curry Centre to everyone.

Fabulous takeaway from here. The loaded fries are a favourite of ours and also tried the new madras platter which my son said was amazing. The food here is lovely. We ordered in advance and the food arrived dead on time. One of the best take aways on shields. And if you want to eat in go to the Dehli 6 Lounge at Westoe.

This place is disgusting.. We thought we would chance it again after my partners dad found a screw in the curry, yes a screw, that was a few years back . So ordered a meal tonight only because of the cheep deals they have on and found a long woman's hair in the chips not a happy experience. I would avoid unless you want a nice suprise in your food. I called them and they offered me a free bag of chips next time I order

Been coming here for years but was really disappointed with the food we ordered ,the garlic bread was covered in green garlic we couldn't even eat it as it was swimming in a pool of garlic they have changed there lovely thick cut chips to thin tasteless ones too. The kids carbonara was a rip off nearly £6 for the smallest portion I've ever seen my 3yr old was still hungry after eating it. Probably won't go back now. What a shame as it used to be lovrly and 5 star rating.

The best place for a curry ever!!

The last time I was here it was the Royal and previously the Zolsa about 30 years ago We had a great meal I had King Prawn Vindaloo and Fish Barji to start. I couldn’t fault it.. 10/10

My 2nd visit - quiet again. Staff super friendly, decor fine, crisp linen napkins. Took the chicken bhuna puree- another take on this dish with a rolled puree and a dollop of shredded chicken bhuna. Tasty. Then chicken korma and steamed rice - hot, plenty or rice and pretty tasty. Usual coffee to finish. Better walk further down the street to here than pick the closest ones to Morrisons. 4th visit - Staff curry - lamb - PERFECT. BEST CURRRY ON OCEAN RD. On the bone. Lamb cooked well. Lots of fresh spices. King of curries
