Had an amazing dinner at Shampan last night. Our server, Shah, was so friendly and helpful, steering us towards perfect selections for our meal. Honestly, one of the best curries we’ve had in quite a while. Plus, it was our anniversary and we were surprised by a complimentary dessert. A lovely and memorable touch!

I’d drive to Whitley Bay JUST for another experience in Zamorins 🔥🔥 it was that good. We were recommended by friends to give this Kerala-specialised Indian Cuisine a try - they describe it as the most authentic it can get to the actual Kerala experience (I’ve travelled to Kerala before, and loved every bit of my experience there. The food is heavenly). Since we were already in Whitley Bay for a walk to get Baby Ru some fresh sea air, we thought, why not Zamorins. Our friends were right. The very first sides served along with the papadoms blew us away! Extremely rich and spicy, like none I’ve had before - the chef recommended ‘Kerala Fish Pickle’ and ‘Pineapple Pickle’ were out of the world. If you like spicy, tangy sour and you like fish, you MUST have this. The Zamorins Vegetable Briyani was a first for us - generous with condiments, standing out because of the nuts. Loved it. We also had the Goan Monk Fish Curry - I thought it’d be more coconut milk based as I remember in Kerala, but still, pleasant to the tongue. This was also accompanied by the Malai Methi Mushroom Methi, and 2 mocktails - the Virgin Alphonso and the Malabar Mind. The founders of Zamorins, Nebu & Viju, have been friends since their days in Kerala as students, all the way to Geordieland. Nearly 20 good years later, they start up Zamorins - and have been serving loyal patrons - some which travel regularly from Newcastle for their Keralan delights in Whitley Bay. Definitely recommended - especially if you want to experience authentic Indian cusine from Kerala 🔥

I recently dined at Shikara Indian Restaurant in Whitley Bay, and it was an outstanding experience! I was seated upstairs, which offered a cozy and intimate atmosphere with lovely decor. The service was impeccable—attentive, friendly, and efficient. The food was absolutely delicious, with vibrant flavors and perfect spice levels. I particularly loved the Chicken Tikka Chilli Mossala, which had the perfect balance of heat and flavor, and the Chicken Balti, which was rich, aromatic, and beautifully spiced. Every bite was a delight! Shikara truly sets the bar high for Indian dining in Whitley Bay. Whether you're after a special night out or a casual meal, this is the place to go. Highly recommended!

Disappointing, the Nan bread was undercooked. I could smell the raw dough and couldn't eat it. However, the rest of the food was nice.

I’ve loved Bangladeshi food for most of my life. I grew up on it, I’ve tried so many places and never had such a consistent and wonderful experience as I have going to Ahar. Fiz the owner is a superb host and the restaurant is a warm and welcoming place, for solo visits or with friends and family. I’ve never had a meal that wasn’t brilliant here but tonight I think I reached Valhalla. The lamb mustard bhuna might just be the best curry I’ve ever eaten. The difference with Ahar is in the details. Authentic food, real charcoal tandoor oven and the best ingredients. Why are you wasting your time going anywhere else, this should be your only port of call.

Namaste has moved to Royal Quays outlet. No longer in Whitley Bay! Not a lot more to say but need to write more before it can be accepted by TripAdviser

This is a great placeeat. The staff were very polite and helpful. The actual restaurant yourself was clean and tidy and very welcoming. The only downside of the restaurant is the fact that currently following Covid they do not have an alcohol license or a bring your own facility. That said it doesn’t really matter because the food is fantastic. What I will say is that if you have a disability that is a step into the premises and then to step up to the toilet and it is not from my opinion wide enough for Wheelchair. There is a wide selection as I said earlier of food which is very very authentic. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant to anybody that did in fact fancy a curry
