Very good food and excellent service. Really tasty curry. Nice, friendly and relaxed atmosphere, good for couples, families, or groups of friends.

One of the best curry’s I’ve had for a long time, very good menu a lot more selection than our normal local restaurants, so a lovely change to the normal. I had the Murugh Jeera Shangom which was very tasty and cashew rice which is definitely different to what I’m used to. Staff very friendly and helpful.

We were seated as soon as we arrived and menus were given to us. We ordered drinks and decided to have the set meal for two. It started with popadums and chutneys, then two starters which we shared. Then the main meal with two main curry dishes a rice dish and a naan bread and another side dish. The whole meal was tasty and delicious. The surroundings were tasteful with paintings and the lights were interesting. We had a lovely evening.

expected slightly smaller portions as this was a Thursday Night Special offer, but we were mistaken!! the portions were huge and delicious - great value for the money, and the service was spot on. Definitely will be visiting again soon.

Best takeaway we've had in Whitley Bay for a long time. First time we've ordered from here. Food was prepared quickly and the chicken was beautifully cooked, very tender and very tasty. Nut pilau was plentiful and once again perfectly cooked. The restaurant is fresh and bright and the staff friendly and efficient. Will definately use again.

I’ve been coming here for over 20 years now and the food is consistently outstanding. The staff are also fantastic. This is by far the best Indian restaurant in whitley bay.

The best Indians in whitley bay. Consistently excellent food. Don’t be fooled by the fancy bright lights of other Indian restaurants in whitley bay, the quality of food at whitely bay tandoori is unrivalled. The restaurant is quiet, relaxed and the staff are superb. I highly recommend the kebab for two (a big tandoori mixed kebab) served on a sizzling platter. The chicken chaat starter is also outstanding.

This restaurant is very clean and has a great menu choice. The food is always very good and the prices are reasonable. The staff are very amenable and will adapt to suit your taste. We had a lovely set meal for £30 and really enjoyed all the courses. Would recommend a visit if on your hols like us.

Outstanding! First time and certainly won't be our last. The special 5 course on a Thursday and Sunday is unreal value for money and truly amazing. Wonderful!

Excellent menu choices, all reasonably priced including drinks. Delicious freshly cooked food, well presented by welcoming staff. The restaurant is very well decorated but without the bells and whistles of chandeliers and glitz. I would highly recommend giving this restaurant a visit. There is a special takeaway menu Thursday and Sunday which we will be trying this weekend.

We ate quite early, and were the only diners, although lots of takeaway orders were being processed. There was a good choice on the menu, and we enjoyed our meal very much. The food was well cooked and presented, and the portion size good. The service was a bit offhand - the waiter brought the bill (no offer of a dessert menu - not sure if they even have one) and disappeared. We left the money and shouted goodbye, but got no response!

The best Indians around, we use for delivery which is on time and will be booking for a sit down soon!! The chicken masala is the best I’ve ever had.

We ordered a takeaway on New Year’s Eve and unfortunately the paper bag containing all of the curries collapsed when I removed it from the plastic bag and all of the food ended up on the kitchen floor. The restaurant were excellent in agreeing to replace the order and the food was, as always, delicious. Top service and excellent attitude. Five stars.

The best curry I’ve ever had, the vegan options are absolutely amazing also the staff are extremely friendly and present. Very happy with order and highly recommend. The place also has a nice indoor dining area, Beautifully decorated.

We have been going to Whitley Bay Tandoori for 20 years (husband for 30 years - he inrtoduced me to it), and it's about time we let everyone into a secret - it is the best indian restaurant in Whitley Bay. It may not have shimmering chandeliers and shiny chrome, it may not look much comapred to the newer, flashier indian restaurants that have sprung up. But this place knows how to cook, the food is always excellent. The staff have all been there for years (says it all), they are friendly, welcoming, nothing is too much bother. They will adapt dishes to your liking (I asked for no cream in a Passanda last night, no problem and was delicious), they are knowledgeable and caring. And as for the prices, unbelievable. Less than £40 for a 2 course meal for two, including beer, wine and coffee. We love this place, and even when we think "oh let's go somewhere different", we can't bring ourselves to do that. The others are either much more expensive or we don't trust that the food will be as good. So, there we have it, the secret's out!

We always like to visit this friendly restaurant when we visit the North .The food is always first class & they will adjust the spices to your taste. It's a extensive menu & something to suit everyone. The service & staff are excellent . We wouldn't go anywhere else & have been coming here for fifteen years with our family...... We are here on a Thursday evening in May while in the area for a rugby final.We were warmly greeted and seated. I had chicken shaslik and my husband had chicken jalfrezi. We had active a garlic nan a day bhaji and a Bombay potato.It was all very good indeed. A pint and a half of Cobra and the bill was an extremely reasonable £30.Highly recommended.

Service was very friendly and helpful . Excellent quality food and the menu was very comprehensive . Some meals can be made to your taste i.e. mild , medium , hot etc

We've been coming here for years and the standards have remained really high. Staff are great, top service, menu is fab and quality of food is stunning. I'd definitely recommend this place for the quality of food over the local "shiny light" places!!

Visited for a family meal out. Service was very friendly and efficient. The decor is a bit 80's and could do with a refurb, but don't let that put you off. Starters and mains were tasty and portions are generous. Prices are fine and all in all a pleasant experience. Staff are keen to please. Drinks could be better with tonic, soda and coke lacking in fizz. Otherwise okay. All in all a kind of old school Indian restaurant that was unpretentious and predictable and sometimes that's exactly what you want.

i have been a regular visitor to this restaurant for over 15 years. i point out that there is plenty other very good indian restaurants in whitley bay (some with nicer decor) and equally great service. however, whitley tandoori has never compromised on the quality of the food. it is fantastic every single time. the staff are fantastic and very inviting. the tandoori chicken shashlik is the best iv ever had. don't be fooled by the dazzling lights of other indian restaurants in whitley bay, if it's quality, flavour and a good price and great service then this place is the one you want.

We arrived at 8:10pm we were told it would be 30-40 mins to be seated 1 hour & 10 mins later we were seated. It is now 21:50 and we still have not received any food!! I had ordered an extra starter when we got here and when we were seated 1 hour & 10 mins after arriving. I was told they had ran out of it!! Terrible service in this place, avoid it of possible. There’s a better place next door with quicker service. No apologises for any of the wait what so ever!!

I have visited this restaurant for many many years and also it is my chosen restaurant for takeaways. A few weeks ago I ordered a half portion chicken curry by phone (among other food) and carefully checked that they were happy to include a half portion meal. When my husband collected it there was no, and I mean not one piece chicken in the container, only sauce. I put it down to an oversight. Having just had an operation for cancer and not feeling particularly hungry today I ordered my husbands meal by phone and carefully asked could I order a half portion of curry. Again there was NO chicken in my curry. Once I could take as a mistake. Twice, deliberate. If they do not wish to serve half portions (some will and some won't) then JUST SAY NO.'

The staff were very helpful friendly and polite. Depending on your taste buds, the food is either mediocre or very good. Our party was 50/50 split. I would go again to see a different dish was better. Having said that, my prawn starters was very tasty.

Wonderful Indian restaurant, I can't understand how they manage such good food and so much choice for so little, Easy access for travel whether it be metro, car or bus as centrally located in Whitley Bay. Staff so welcoming and friendly.

This is by far the best Indian restaurant in town. I have eaten in many, many restaurants and this is the one I would recommend if you like Indian food in clean, tidy surroundings, excellent service, a great menu (should you need it), or special advice from Amit relating to any dish you would like to try. They make the food to your request, just tell them what type of curry you would like and what you would like in it, how hot you would like it, etc and it arrives as you asked for it, and it tastes superb. We will continue to visit regularly. Thanks Amit, Sunny and all the staff, and a special thanks to the chef. Brilliant.

We went for the first time to celebrate my mother-in-law's 90th birthday and all 3 of us were impressed by the pleasant surroundings, warm welcome, helpful staff, menu choices and the quality of the food. The price was very reasonable too. Definitely worth another visit.

I've been here twice now with about 8 months in between. The high standards of food and service that I experienced on my first visit was maintained on my second, last night. The waiting staff are friendly and flexible when it comes to customer's needs, for example we weren't sure which naan to choose so our waiter suggested one, but offered to change it for another if we didn't like it, free of charge. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else for Indian food in Whitley Bay or the surrounding area. We paid £25 for two main courses, two rice dishes, and a keema naan, so it's very reasonably priced considering how delicious the food is! We were also given a free starter of poppadom and condiments. We were seated immediately and received our main courses in what we considered to be perfect time. I don't know where the customer who rated "terrible" has been but it isn't this restaurant! Will definitely try to visit more frequently!

We called in pretty late. Staff made us feel welcome & comfortable from beginning. Food was beautiful & all came to the table hot. Will definitely use this restaurant again.

Been a few times for a meal but always number 1 for a take out. Very friendly staff low prices for high quality food

Visited around 7 pm on a Sunday night with my husband and 2 young children. We could not fault the pleasant service from all of the staff and the food was very nice too. However we were sat next to a table of 2 couples who unfortunately had no respect for other diners. One of the men repeatedly used very bad language in a loud voice so much so we had to tell him to stop in front of the children. My children even made comment about what they had heard. Whilst he acknowledged his error he didn't like being told by us and I heard him use the same word several times again. He appeared to be the argumentative sort and we heard he had been out drinking all day. On top of that he belched loudly at the table several times. In fact he was no more than a disgusting pig and I hope he reads this review. I feel the restaurant staff should be more on top of this type of behaviour as it did spoil what would have otherwise been a lovely tea out with the family.

I liked the decor as well as the food. We went in,and although it was reasonably busy, they brought us menus and then they found us a table more or less straight away. Enjoyable food, nice atmosphere and relaxing environment.

Been coming here since July 2014! Every time you cannot fault the food or the service! They really look after you and are always aware of your needs, if they see an empty glass they always ask if you need any more! Fantastic yet again.

We have used this restaurant for many many years both for sit in meals and delivery service. The food is always great, service always fab & friendly. By far our favourite restaurant in Whitley Bay :-) So much so we are booking here for ours sons 18th family meal !

Have been coming here for a while now after more than a few bad experiences with our last local takeaway and I have to say this place is excellent food is lovely an staff are very friendly and prices are very reasonable and always get free popadoms with meal which is a nice touch. Wether eating out or takeaway it's never dissapointed! 5/5 from me.

I ended up here after being turned away from a newer more popular establishment (again), and boy was I glad I gave it a try. I brought my American dad and his wife here for their first Indian meal in the UK, and it was a big hit. The staff was really patient even though it took us forever to order (though the papadums and chutneys helped us stave off the hunger while we discussed things). Once our food came, every dish was really good. The two starters—tandoori chicken and some chickpea dish—were extremely tasty and just the right size. The peshwari naan and coconut pilau were sweet palate cleansers. The korma chicken was slightly boring, but hey, it's not an adventurous order. The two other curries we got off the specials section were outstanding. I don't remember them, but I really need to go back and find them. And I'll have to try some other things off the rest of their good looking menu. Don't be put off by the boring outside. This is really a top place for locals.

Great staff always welcoming friendly and issue personal service in greeting & farewell to customers whether be new or existing.Ive been quarterly & monthly and in my opinion if not the most consistent but best Tandori in Whitley Bay area.My views are based on:Atmosphere, staff, food, price always consistent & of a very high standard. Quality price & never compromised and ALL staff (manager - waiters) look after all customers whether new or regular. They are good at remembering a face which adds and gives the personal feel and great experience / atmosphere. Rare you get this now is this day & age. Anyone knowing me I'm very fussy on quality to price & service matching experience none of this is compromised.Shakira Whitley Bay they only look after the regulars, Plaza Tynemouth tandori awful service, Tynemouth Tandori service & food qaulity poor.Result Whitley Bay Tandori Superb - great place to eat.

This is by far the best Indian restaurant in Whitley Bay. I have been eating here for quite some time and have purchased many take away meals from Amit and the staff too. I have never had a bad meal, and more often than not, the staff have surprised us with dishes which are not on the menu for us to try. I have enjoyed every meal I have had at this restaurant and the service has been second to none - very personal and attentive. Well done to the team there for giving Whitley Bay a little gem!

Having visited this restaurant on numerous occasions and again today 01/06/2014, the meal, service and surroundings remain excellent. I am not one for menu`s as the dishes on there mean nothing to me, but I do appreciate good food well cooked and presented. It is common for me to ask the waiter to make me something nice, I will tell them what I am looking for hot, mild, or whatever I fancy at the time, and have yet to be dissapointed. The friendly staff and the pleasant surroundings and the excellent food, never rushed for the table, just allowed to enoy the meal at your own pace for me 11/10

Visited again with a party of three and could not fault it. Service personal but not intrusive. The food was hot fresh and tasty. We all ordered different dishes and agreed it was superb on all fronts. Prices were excellent for the quality served up. Easily the best in W BAY.

Used to come here all the time and always enjoyed the food. Purchased a takeaway last month and it was disgusting, had a strange consistency and a horrible taste and binned it after a few mouthfuls. Went again last week hoping it was just a one off. Ordered the 5 course special and was the worst indian food I've ever had. Same strange consistency horrible taste this. Yoghurt sauce was not fresh very bitter. Onion bhaji burnt and soggy. Naan undercooked. Shame as it used to be nice but I won't be returning

Lovely indian restaurant and take away serving great food at reasonable prices. My particular favourites here are the tandoori mixed kebab then something really spicy like a Sham Mangsho which is one of the house specialities with lamb. Friendly and helpful service too for those of you who aren't experts in curry. My favourite indian restaurant in the area and there are plenty to choose from.

Simply the best Indian in the town. Succeeds on every level without the over the top decor of other establishments. A warm welcome awaits and priced favourably so never feel ripped off. Important too is that if you book for a certain time you're sat at that time. This isn't always the case elsewhere.

We have been visiting the WBT for years and also use for our home deliveries.The food is always FAB, service always very good.My favourite dishes are the bhuna prawn on purée and then chicken Ceylon which is never the same in any other restaurant :-)Can not recommend enough x
