Rakhi Indian Restaurant in North Tyneside

We visited this Restaurant last night when we were staying overnight in the area. The food was delicious and the staff could not have been more helpful. They were friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend this venue and if we are ever in the area we will definitely be returning. Just one regret, that we didn't take a meal away with us

Takeaway on a recommendation, first order, outstanding food!

Absolutely superb - we have been lucky enough to eat in some of the finest Indian restuarants in London and in india and this was fantastic but at a fraction of the price. We enjoyed every dish on our Birthday celebration

The first time we had a takeaway from here, very nice food,good quality and good size portions, we collected as we live close by so can't comment on delivery, inside looks better than outside of restaurant, nice and clean, recommend

I think some of the reviews have exaggerated slightly this was a pretty normal Indian restaurant serving a good choices of dishes. The restaurant itself wasn't particularly welcoming very tatty exterior and inside lacks decoration or much atmosphere. Not helped by one of the waiters who really didn't want to smile. Food was saved a bit slow but was hot and fresh. Dishes were ok but if I'm being critical a little oily and it's the first time I've had to add my own seasoning to Indian food. Prices were pretty standard perhaps slightly high I've paid less for an Indian meal in London, but they did have set dinners which were better value. I would recommend this restaurant it was okay but it's probably similar to others nearer Newcastle.

Excellent quality takeaway as always. Starter of onion baji, large and crispy with delicious mint yogurt which we shared, for mains we had chicken tikka jalferezi which was very very tasty, gorgeous chunks of white chicken breast which melted in the mouth, peppers and onions in a perfectly spicy sauce Chicken tikka dhansak, sweet and sour with lentils and absolutely mouthwatering. We shared a vegetable pilau rice and a plain naan with popadoms. Could not fault this generously portioned takeaway and we will continue to support this restaurant. The staff are always super friendly.

I use it for takeaways and they are always amazing tasting and good value for money.

Only ever had takeaways from here but will definitely make the effort to visit the restaurant one day, the food is gorgeous. Never had one bad meal, always arrives piping hot and very quickly. Our new favourite!

Delicious food, good service and friendly staff made our visit a success. I can highly recommend the Chicken Tikka Karai.

We arrived and given our table immediately , we all had curry but different sauces one prawns one chicken and one lamb,very good portions ,great service.

We have always had an excellent meal at Rakhi but tonight’s was outstanding. When we go home to Yorkshire we always make sure we have a Bradford curry but The Rakhi is definitely taking over.

Ordered a takeaway at 5:23. App said delivery would be 6:08. I telephoned at 6:40 to ask if it was on its way - told yes should be 5 mins. It arrived at 7:10. Lukewarm/cold. Containers were leaking in the bag - everything a mess. Pakoras were the worst - and most expensive I’ve ever had. I paid £42 for a barely edible meal. Will order elsewhere in future.

We found ourselves in Seaton Burn on a Sunday evening when most places were closed early. In spite of the website suggesting that Rakhi only offered take-out we were made most welcome and had an excellent meal at a very reasonable price.

We had chicken bhuna (should have been chicken tikka) and also chicken tikka jalfrezi, as well as keema rice. The chicken tasted odd, this was consistent across both the standard chicken and the tikka. Also the keema rice was bland. There is no way we could eat the curry dishes, they were basically inedible. I think the chicken was low quality and old which contributed to the odd taste. I rang the restaurant straight away and the response was 'well I have been selling it all day and no complaints'. My request for a refund was turned down flat. I tavel the UK with my job and have eat many Indian meals, I also cook Indian food as a hobby. I can honesty say this was the poorest Indian food I have ever had. Please avoid this place at all costs and save your custom for a resturant/takeaway that deserves it.

Used to get food from Rakhi years ago but had a couple of bad but after hearing good reviews from friends we ordered a couple of meals and to be honest it was the best we've had in a long time!! well done. ✔ 👍

I've had food from Rakhi many times before, sometimes collected, sometimes delivered. The food is always delicious in my opinion, which is why I keep going back. However, my experience last night was terrible. I ordered online at 18:10, was told 45mins for delivery so was expecting food by 18:55. It didn't arrive until 20:55, 2 whole hours late!! I called at 20:00 when it was an hour late to make sure the order had gone through and was told it was on its way, would be there in 10-15mins. That obviously wasn't true as when I then called again at 20:50 it was still in the kitchen. We were promised delivery within 5 minutes and it was there in about 3 (that's how close we live!). No apology when the food finally arrived, and no attempt at pacifying 2 extremely hungry customers. We were still charged full price including £2 delivery charge. I only waited so long as the food really is delicious, but customer service leaves a lot to be desired, and after last night's experience I sadly won't be going back. (I've also previously had orders that took well over an hour to be delivered instead of the quoted 45minutes.) My tip to Rakhi would be to just be honest about the expected delivery time. If it's a really busy night then don't say the standard 45 minutes if that's clearly unrealistic. Customers should be made aware of how long they might wait to give them the option of considering elsewhere if they want to.

Nice three meals on the Saturday night, however we all got the same meal on Sunday night and it was awful and all went in the bin. We have spent a lot of money over this weekend. Sunday morning we all had upset stomachs vomiting and can't stop going to the loo..... not a good sign at all!!. What are you going to do about this for us

Food was good and pleasant surroundings and staff. However was disappointed they were not using the eat out to help out scheme as we were charged full price.

Good value for what you pay. Should do more to entice people into restaurant.

We decided to pop in after it had been reccomended by a friend and the food was very nice, staff attentive and prices reasonable. It was 5.30 in the evening so the attentive staff was the result of there being no other clients. That changed as we left and people were arriving. I'd reccomend a visit.

Popadoms and chutneys v. Good. Jalfrezi even better. Recommended.

Nothing at this restaurant particularly made it great. Our service was below par with a lengths of time between being given menus, ordering and receiving food, as well as a spare plate delivered to a different table in the restaurant. The food was alright, however food that was considered spicy seemed to lack in heat, as well as the roti seeming to have been microwaved.

I have been going to Rhaki for many years, the restaurant is a lovely environment, the staff helpful and attentive but by far and away the food is the star of the show. My whole family eat here and when we are not in the restaurant we use the takeaway, cant beat their food in my opinion.

Visiting the area and looking for a good curry and this was near by. A bit away from the centre but worth the trip, clean, bright with parking and the most important thing great food. Only problem I had was putting my fork down.

A party of ten on a Sunday. Had Sunday special at £14. The food was lovely, plentiful and staff friendly.

Just eaten at the Rakhi Sunday evening. We were offered the Sunday special. So full. The food was beautiful but if we have this spread again we will definitely only have one portion of rice and Nanna between us. Staff very polite and attentive. Enjoyed our visit.

Booked this wonderful restaurant after reading reviews and it didn't disappoint. I like hotter food and after a recommendation of the lamb vindaloo that's what I choose. It was so good, very very tasty and not overwhelmingly hot. Well worth a visit if your in the area.

I ate here whilst staying at the nearby Travelodge. I had to wait at the bar for three or four minutes before someone came out to attend me. Once I was shown to a table, drinks and poppadums were brought swiftly. My order was taken for my meal; I stressed that no coriander was to be used. Sadly my main came garnished with the stuff. I was unable to bring this to the waiter’s attention as he went AWOL. The food, though, was superb (once I’d picked the coriander off it!). Easily one of the best curries I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a *lot*! Once I’d finished I was brought a hot towel but was left waiting at least twenty minutes before I could get the bill. And then, ten minutes after it was brought to me, they still hadn’t been back to collect payment so I just left the money on the table. I’d love to give this place 5 stars on the basis of the food alone but they really need to work on their service skills.

We arrived late at our Hotel , The New Holiday Inn at Seaton Burn , a very green rural suburb just north of Newcastle City and after a warm and speedy welcome by the lovely staff there we decided a curry would be nice It was almost 10pm so we googled and came up with The Rakhi which is just along the road . A quick call and a very polite response had us there in 5 minutes . Great so far . A warm welcome awaited and we were quickly shown to a very nice table for 4 with linen tablecloth and napkins , stylish cutlery and quality glasses .THE FOOD HERE IS SIMPLY EXCELLENT Real and authentic food freshly cooked with good ingredients .The Service was Very Good .The Indian Beer was very good .My Lamb Vindaloo was OUTSTANDING .We all had different starters and main courses which were all Very Good .The Bill was Very Reasonable AND Excellent ValueThis is A GREAT FIND So much So I WILL BE RETURNING ASAP.THANK YOU TO ALL AND EVERYONE AT THE RAKHI RESTAURANT in Seaton BurnYour Skills , Patience and Service were MUCH APPRECIATED .SEE YOU AGAIN SOONJohnny Lenny Marcus

First time in here tonight and the place was empty we were the only people seated. But i have to say the food was unbelievable. This has to be the tastiest Indians i have ever had from an Indian sitty down restaurant

Never even got the chance to try the food. Was told delivery was about 1hr 15 mins but cancelled after they didn't turn up after 2hrs. Shame as it was recommended by a couple of friends

Reasonable setting with enough parking. Clean. Good menu including drinks. Service good. Great food. Seemed very cheap but portions not massive, just adequate.

I'm not from the area so read the reviews for this restaurant. Decided to give it a go as most of the reviews seemed OK. I'm very pleased to say that I'm glad I did. The staff were very friendly and soon took my order and produced an amazing meal . Would gladly recommend this place everything was stunning.

As we were staying in the Holiday Inn near by , we came to know about this restaurant and have visited twice in the last two weeks.The atmosphere is not vibrant but the food had the great Indian flavour.Chicken Tikka Khakri was awesome.Tandoori Mixed Kabab - starter item was fantastic.Nawabi Chicken Tikka - Mains - Good, lovelyabove with naan/ rice was fantastic.Pistachio kulfi ice-cream must not be missed.overall a lovely indian food and will visit again

Most of the time you get really nice meals. However meals are very inconsistent one week they are absolutely gorgeous to the point it's my favourite takeaway and the.next they are bland and utterly tasteless. It feels like ingredients /spices are forgotten.....

My food was very nice, although my boyfriend didn't get his rice and he had to go and get someone for it. Then we had our desserts, they got them mixed up from the freezer. But didn't matter we enjoyed it anyway. They were very busy that night.

A very nice Indian restaurant within 10 minutes walk of the Seaton Burn Travelodge Hotel. Very good food, caring helpful staff. We were there about 6-30 pm on a Sunday and was not busy. Food was excellent washed down with a draught Kingfisher beer for me and a large glass of house Red Wine for my wife. An easy walk from the hotel and a safe way of crossing the very large, and busy, Seaton Burn roundabout assisted by multiple pedestrian crossings. We would very much like to return here.

Probably one of the best if not the best Indian restaurants in the area.

I normally order from Brunton Park where a tikka roll is £3. Tried Ralkhi, was £5.75 with no salad or sauce. 2 starters and 2 rolls was £19, not worth half that. Back to Brunton Park for us.

Hubby & I have been here quite a few times and have always enjoyed the food here. Restaurant is never busy but they seem to do a lot of takeaways. We shared an onion bhaji starter which was cooked to perfection and the sauce that accompanied it was delicious with a fresh side salad. Hubby had chicken jalfrezi with garlic Nan & cauliflower bhaji which were all piping hot and delicious, I had chicken tikka sag with onion pelau and it was spot on. The wine is chilled and the service is great. If you haven’t tried this great Indian yet give it a go you will be pleasantly surprised with the whole experience.

I ordered a takeaway, chicken phall, considering everything up to and including vindaloo is £4.95 I expected to pay an extra £1 for my order it was £7.95, I’ve used this place 4 or 5 times since moving to the area, never again, I’m disgusted

Got a delivery it came over an hour after ordering as the driver went to another delivery 1st miles away considering we live 2 mins away from the restaurant would of thought we would of been one of 1st deliveries anyways food was cold so we couldn't eat it I rang up and customer service was disgraceful no help at all to resolve issue they were not bothered so won't be using them again and will be advising friends and family the same this was a meal for husbands birthday

Rakhi your good is fabulous; lovely starters and mains and so wonderfully cooked. I think the portions are perfect sized and I like the selection of different tastes you offer. Super super.

The food quality is always great wether you’re eating in or collecting a take away, whilst dining the place is very quiet ( not a bad thing )and the place is currently getting refurbished, but we go for the food which is always fabulous, always clean plates when we’re done , staff are helpful and friendly and parking right outside the door, definitely recommend .
