Another fabulous meal at the Bilash. Lovely warm environment, lovely staff and food as always was excellent. Tip top service. Will be back very soon.

We have been going here for the last 15+ years for all family occasions- the food is exceptional and service always wonderful - couldn’t recommend more!

Never mind the Indian restaurants in Whitley Bay, a 2 minute car journey from there will take you to the BEST Indian restaurant on the coast. Bilash is a firm family favourite. We as a family have been coming here for over 20years. From date nights to the exclusive hire of their function room to celebrate graduations, big birthdays and a big family get togethers, the service has been exceptional. Numan and the team are always professional, extremely welcoming and polite, nothing is a trouble. Food- Well what can I say other than delicious! Cooked to perfection they offer a wide range. On Thursdays and Sundays they do a very reasonable deal for around £16. This evening we had 2 deals, garlic chips, additional rice, ice cream, coffee and a pint of coke- £49.20 - Bargin! Could not recommend these guys anymore, we won’t eat anywhere else!

Great local and family run restaurant just off the beaten track but easily accessed via the local metro station. Love coming here for its warmth, authenticity and an excellent team that really look after you. The menu has all the classics, but I’d recommend stepping away from the usual korma or Madras and going for one of the meals you don’t get everywhere else. The team are always happy to advise and recommend.

Amazing food - just the best!! Delicious high quality dishes, lots of choices, big potions and utterly delicious! The staff are amazing too. Numan the owner is so friendly and welcoming as are his team - Navish, Jillu, Simba and Hasha! Craving my next visit! If you've never been it's a must and if you've been you'll be as hooked as we are!

Coming back to visit the coast after living in Italy (where it is a struggle to find any indian restaurants) my family recommended "The Bilash" and we certainly were not disappointed. We were greeted by Nooman and his staff with such a warm welcome. The decoration is so beautiful, especially the corner tree. The food was exceptional. After craving Indian food for so long (my palette can only take so much pizza & pasta) it was fantastic having all the dishes Gluten Free and you could really tell the difference, light, fresh and very tasty. We will definitely return on our next visit back, I only wish Nooman would open a restaurant in Italy.

The meal at this restaurant was absolutely delicious lovely flavours and great portions sizes. The staff are so kind and helpful. They cater a great menu for gluten free even down to the onion bhajis. My mum being a coeliac could even have a beer. Thank you Numan to you and all your team. We will definitely be back. 😊

Regulars at this lovely local restaurant with very good food and excellent service. Lamb chops starter particularly good, as well as king prawn purée, chicken tikka masala is perfect too. Would highly recommend. They also make a lovely Irish coffee to finish.

Love a Indian takeaway we do but can honestly say this has to be the worst one i have had no taste whatsoever bland would not recommend at all.

Not good now service very slow, food cold and got overcharged for drinks we never had expensive!! seem to have different staff every time we come. Used to be such a good restaurant but gone downhill.

Although their Lamb Bhuna was nothing close to my spicy expectations, I appreciated the gesture on an empty stomach. Their waiting staff however were remarkable for their exceptional hospitality. There are two doors for an entrance which restricts access to wheelchair-users and people in between opening or closing both doors is annoying. They accept contactless payments and deliver also.

I have been visiting Bilash regularly for years now and have always received outstanding quality, service and value for money. The Bilash staff manage to make every visit special, the food is always high end and you never leave unsatisfied. If you’re visiting the cullercoats area for the first time or you’ve been there a while, you have to go to Bilash. Thanks as always to Bilash for a perfect night.

Food was good with several vegetarian choices. Portions of rice are quite large, so recommend sharing.

The food was out of this world and the restaurant catered for my gluten free needs. The service we received was faultless and the staff could not be more accommodating. We had a lovely evening in the restaurant and we cannot wait to return for more gorgeous food.

Highly recommend this restaurant. The food was absolutely superb. The staff were very friendly and we had a lovely chat with the owner after our meal which made us feel very welcome. We will be coming back to this part of the world in the autumn and will definitely be dining again at the Bilash.

Neither of us had been to the Bilash for ages - but it’s so close to the Cullercoats metro, it was the obvious choice. Good choice. Really good food - lovely flavours and well presented. The restaurant was buzzing pleasantly with a mixture of friends and families clearly having the same quality experience as ourselves. I had forgotten the Bilash warm welcome - it’s very genuine and it adds a lot to a smashing night out. Absolutely 5 stars.

With so many Indian restaurants lowering standards and portion sizes and offering old popadoms and a few cubes of chicken in the mains, this place is superb 5/5 The chicken pakora is excellent and really good portion. The madras was fantastic with a smooth hot but flavoursome gravy, and there was a good amount of chicken breast in the curry The mushroom pilau was extremely good and again good portion We asked for green chilli chapatis and they made them and were incredibly good This is a great Indian restaurant So nice that there are still ones like this, I will now drive from durham to go eat here as its better than any near me Top class

I've been coming to bilash for years and the food is authentic with a great modern twist. The food is excellent value and the finest quality of food and service. Bilash is 100% the best, highly recommend

The bilash pungerbi lamb chops were unederble. It wasn't possible to cut them with the knife provided. The management refunded the cost of the dish

On arriving at the bilash Indian restaurant in Cullercoats I was greeted by the friendly staff. It is 2 minutes walk from Cullercoats metro station. A local bus service runs close by or you can drive and park close by or walk like I did. The food was well worth the price, I went on the special night. Although it was £2 more than it advertised on - line. Good food good value for money, clean and tidy restaurant and toilets. Unfortunately no room for wheelchair access and no accessible toilets but when I queried this the staff said they were try and help to get them in. I found the staff went out the way to help me decide what I wanted from the menu. I asked what was in couple of dishes and they were more than happy to advise me. I didn't book on the night I went but went early enough to get a seat but it filled up quick, maybs because it was special night. Bilash do deliver as well, they do have seating area upstairs for larger bookings. I have been before and will definitely be back. I have already recommended to my friends and family 😊 x

Honestly, this is the worst food I’ve paid for, the food was disgusting, the starter, a chicken dish, was slimy and more like a bad Chinese dish, the main course was a hideous purple mess of old chicken and onions. Sorry, the owner or manager was very personable, I think he knew the food was bad, and he tried hard, but the food was terrible, we left most of it and he avoided us when the bill came.

I visited this restaurant with my son for the first time, it has a lovely warm atmosphere and the decor is beautiful and it is immaculate, the staff are very smartly dressed and really friendly, the food is delicious and plenty of it, I will definitely be going back again :)

As soon as we entered the restaurant we were impressed by the light and airy surroundings. The staff greeted us warmly and we immediately felt welcome. The food was absolutely delicious. Each dish had its own unique flavour and texture, and the seasoning was appropriate to the description. Perfect! Starters were lovely. Portion sizes were good for the main courses. The food was warm and the presentation delightful. Add to this the wonderful service and attitude from the staff and it was a perfect meal. Thank you so much for a memorable evening.

Had the food in the restuarant. Nice food at a reasonable price and the service was great. The owner is a lovely, very personable guy and it is our local, friendly restaurant of choice. 2nd visit last night. Tried the food off the street food menu. Wow, for £8.90 full nan bread, stuffed with mixed meats, a full meal in a massive wrap basically. Really tasty and well worth the money. I couldn't eat it all....

Had king prawn biryani tonight which I always have whenever dinning Indian. 1st time had food from this establishment very disappointed king prawns were not like king prawns may have been 1/2 prawns but we're overcooked anyway. Flavours and other ingredients were very poor. Sauce very thin and watery which spoiled the whole meal. On positive not my partner's chicken schaslik was excellent.

I came back to the Bilash for the first time in a long time last night with a friend and was immediately reminded how good the food is, the ambience and the service from the staff was also excellent. Highly recommended.

We booked the function room for a sunday evening for a 70th birthday. Service was terrible, waited for 30+ mins to get drinks order, 30+ mins again for someone to take our food order. Food then took about another 40 mins to arrive. It was warm no where near the temperature you would expect. The function room has a special menu which is £2 more than the normal sunday special menu and the choice is extremely limited. We asked if we could use the sunday special menu and were told we couldnt. We had paid a deposit of £5 per head, unfortunatly due to illness (admitted to hospital) 2 members were unable to make the evening, MAmangement wouldnt return the deposit. Overall a very disappointing evening. Poor food and servce really spoilt this 70th birthday celebration. We wont be returning.

Despite the high reviews everywhere, i have to say this is some of the worst indian Food i have ever had. Wouldn't even call it indian food.

just a wonderful Indian resturants, staff are 10/10 and the food is amazing, normally I get the fish curry which is 10/10 and if you don't know what you want the staff are so helpful, I been coming here for almost a decade they have massively improve the decor of the resturant too, oh pictures of my very spicey chicken wings, it was dare I did it, I eat it, I survived hahaha. Make sure you call and book a table can get very busy in weekend, they do deliveries too, and all humans must try the BILASH CHIPS

We were so excited for this takeaway after reading such great reviews and watching thier posts on Instagram the food looking unreal! The excitement didn't last long at all sadly. We ordered a king prawn bhaji on puree, Butter chicken and a Jalfrezi chicken tikka with chips, rice and nan. Order arrived when it said it would (approx 1hour) which was the only good thing. Chips were stone cold, the starter I don't think I've ever had such mushy prawn (clearly old) in my life and the puree was in with the sauce so was an absolute soggy mess. The butter chicken was clearly a chicken korma with butter swimming on top and the tikka meat was clearly days old as the dye was all the way through the chicken and hellishly salty. I would never have gave a bad review , I just wouldn't have ordered again but my husband had been none stop vomiting since early hours! I don't know if you've had a bad night or took on to many orders but was was delivered last night was absolute garbage and should never have been served for human consumption. I had such high expectations and this was just such a disappointment. I hope you read the review and look into the quailty of the food being delivered especially the tikka from last night as I hope other s didn't get food poisoning too as that could be damaging for business.

Best Indian food I have ever tasted. Decided to treat my mum and take her out to Bilash for the first time and wow, did they impress!! Will definitely be coming back!!!

Ordered online. Meal came on time. Wife had chicken pasanda, which was good, daughter had CTM again which was fine however my lamb Sri Lanka was really bland, no spice in the sauce in fact the sauce was really watery. Mushroom pilau rice had zero taste and the chips were almost raw. Saving grace the nan bread was excellent. Very disappointed overall

They have authentic Indian, Sri Lankan, Bangladesh food. Also they have English food as well. Nice and calm while my visit. Owners is also nice and friendly. Staff is also helpful and kind. They have a Thali wich comes with so many varieties of dishes.

Great service staff, shame about length of time to get food. Took an hour from having poppadoms for main meal to arrive. Waiter was very apologetic but unfortunately we could see that priority was given to telephone orders instead of restaurant tables so we waited ages for food. When it did turn up it was rather bland I'm afraid & burnt. It was a shame as first time my husband & I had a night out in a while without kids for a meal. We wished we went elsewhere.

Well this place is a hidden Gem. Its really nice inside. Staff are very friendly and helpful. OMG the food is divine. My favourite thing is the Bilash Roll. Never tasted anything as good as that. If you thinking of somewhere to go this is and should be your destination. Quality food made by great people. 👍

The food was ok. Had variety of grilled meats, curries and dal / sag aloo. Very very under seasoned and not very flavoursome (every dish needed more seasoning and spices added to it). But not oily or terrible if that makes sense. Could be good if it just seasoned properly! Dal always my favourite dish (and pretty difficult to get wrong) but again seriously seriously under seasoned - and no chopped coriander/ cooked garlic / chilli etc on it… Naan came nearly cold (and was supposed to be garlic but honestly minimal garlic / seasoning on it) as transported in paper bags rather than normal insulated ones. And poppadoms a bit flaccid. Could be a great takeaway if better flavours. I’ll notch the poor naan and poppadoms down to it being NYE. But for everything else - start flavouring your dishes people!

Wow what value you get for the special meal I was full after poppadums,pickles and then my starter of bhuna prawn on puree The portions are not skimped or small My main Chicken Shaslik was well presented and huge chunks of succulent chicken My son's chicken and spinach curry and mushroom rice was a triumph as well Very attentive staff but not over bearing Been a while since my last visit but won't wait as long again Well worth a visit You won't be dissapointed

If you are a Indian who is going to taste Indian food , I suggest you not to visit this restaurant, they offered some Indian foods but the tastes were not good entirely different from Indian taste, no spicy, Customer service was not good. The quantity is comparatively low, not enough for us and expensive too.

We had a lovely meal last at Bilash. The food was delicious, the restaurant was light, airy and clean. The staff were so attentive and very friendly. A real gem of a restaurant, which we would highly recommend. We will visit again when we are next in the area.

Very small restaurant with polite, friendly staff but found it to be expensive and Madras was far too spicy! Unlikely to return unfortunately as there are better nearby alternatives in my opinion

Just had the gyros, tray with spicy chips and I can hands down say it was the best I've ever had, the flavours were mouthwatering. The service when I went in to collect my food was outstanding. Everyone was very polite. I would recommend to anyone who loves Indian food. I will be back.

Went as a party of 12 celebrating a 40th birthday. Staff were fantastic and very accommodating to our requests. Made to feel very welcome. Food was really good and we would definitely visit again. Thanks for a wonderful 3 hours of amazing food!

Having used the Bilash for many years I found tonight’s takeaway totally lacking in Indian spice and could only taste a huge amount of chilli powder. Chicken very dry and vegetable pilau rice tasteless, wet and lacking vegetables. Extremely disappointed and will not be rushing back.

Our go to Indian takeaway even living in wallsend. Always friendly service and the food is always amazing.

Had a superb meal here with my wife. The lamb chops in tamarind sauce were absolutely fantastic, some of the best I have ever had. Service is excellent too. We will definitely be back in the not-too-distant future.

Amazing staff and fantastic food

I was in tonight with my husband and daughter the food as always was outstanding. Would also like to mention how freindly and courteous the staff are they really make you feel so welcome and each of them deserve some recognition. Would definitely recommend! :)

Got onion bhaji starter, it was dry and not much flavour + the mint raitha was just plain yogurt. Also ordered a lamb rogan & chicken rogan, the sauce was mainly just canned tomato, no seasoning, no coriander leaves as normal. The naan was nice. After being recommended & looking at the reviews very disappointed 😔 won’t be returning ☹️

The owner and all the staff were absolutely great when I informed them that I was celiac they informed me that the restaurant was 95% gluten free and this put me at ease while I discussed the meal that I was purchasing really very reassuring excellent gluten free food 5star restaurant

The takeaway from Bilash was abysmally poor and went to the bin. The curry was a pool of red colour, with no flavour. The naans were dry and undercooked and the dal was bland. A disgrace to so-called 'Indian food', which it wasn't by any stretch of imagination. I haven't had food this bad and while I hope it was one bad night for this restaurant, I will not recommend this place based on my experience.

We had a lovely meal, fresh, tasty and the Bengal fish curry melted in the mouth. Staff friendly and helpful. One of the nicest Indian restaurants we’ve been to and living in London we’ve been to loads!

Fabulous food which was cooked with delightful flavours just as ordered. Having been persuaded a Balti was probably not the best way to experience a real taste of India we found the suggested dishes to be beautifully cooked with a real sense of freshness. The Restaurant is somewhat austere and felt a little like dining in someones front room but the welcome was lovely, chatty and warm. The proximity to the Cullercoats Metro Station means we'll be back soon. Good value too.

This is the first review I’ve ever posted on Tripadvisor. It’s a shame I’m writing it about a local business who I’d actually like to support and promote but the standard of food was so shockingly low I can’t quite believe it.I ordered from Bilash after hearing / reading good reports. Ordered a Thursday night special, staff member on phone said £14 odd including delivery, as per the menu pricing. Turned up in good time but delivery driver tried to charge £19.95.That said, the sole reason I’m writing is that the food turned out to be so utterly horrendous. It actually shocked me how stunningly low the standard was, hence the review.The Mixed Kebab starter was so dry and tough I actually feel dehydrated from trying to eat it. Garlic Naan was so dry and brittle I thought it was a poppadom. The main course chicken tikka jalfrezi was simply the lowest standard of takeout food I’ve ever tasted: dry, tough chicken as before, but the red, watery curry it swam in actually smelled rank as if something was off. It looked like thinned down tomato ketchup. The flavour I tasted when I actually dared try it was just wrong. I can’t quite describe it but not only did it not taste like curry, it didn’t even taste safe to eat. It stank. The meal went straight in the bin.Not sure if this was a spectacularly off night for the Bilash but I can’t believe they’re churning out food of this standard regularly and managing to stay in business?

Absolute gem of a place, intimate cozy and full of the charm of a small family run restaurant! Food is very high quality, service is friendly and swift. An easy recommendation is their signature king prawn curry! Delicious food, relaxed atmosphere, and very reasonable prices!

I decided to treat myself and go for the Thali.I'm glad I did.The food was well cooked, with a good portion of meat. Not oily and very tasty.The tikka-massala was a bit 'British' for my liking - overly pink and coconutty, but still very tasty.The Lamb balti however was great.The mixed kebab was really tasty and well cooked.The rice was a bit average, but I can let them off with that.The keema naan was delicious. I'm not normally a fan of keema naan as I usually find it full of bland mince, but this was delicious.I don't know what the recent negative reviews were on about - my experience was entirely different and I'd go back if I'm in the area.
