Cracking curry house! I hit it on a busy Thursday night during the school summer holiday with three associates. The standard pre-starter of poppadoms and pickles primed the chops for an aloo chat, Tandoori Cocktail, cheese naan and a bowl of ice cream to conclude. All totally dusted. The party was kept alive with multiple Cobra beers apiece. Next door on both sides are two more eatieries of similar ilk but we hit Shampan due to prior recommendations.

As usual, delicious food, amazingly welcoming staff in a five star beautifully decorated restaurant. Wonderful vegan options very much appreciated!

Great service and fantastic food.

Previously loved Shampan however this was very different. Very quiet early dinner on a Monday. One main was served as lamb instead of chicken which meant we couldn't eat together as waiting for replacement. My lamb dish was very dry as if re heated lamb pieces so very overcooked and hard I couldn't finish. All in all a disappointing visit so won't be back soon 😕

Came here today, Great atmosphere, great staff, great service! Never been to a restaurant where the staff make you feel so welcome accommodated for and comfortable. Food was immaculate, cant praise enough

First impression is that this restaurant is quite sizeable, nestling between two other smaller Indian restaurants (not afraid to compete). Inside the seating is well spaced, with a number of alcove tables available. Picture windows allow plenty of natural light to filter in and from the seats close to these windows you can see sea views. Many decorations embellish the interior making for a very relaxed ambience. Plenty of choices on the menu and a section for traditional style curry. For starters we had Papadoms followed by Onion Bahji and Aloo Pattice, which we can thoroughly recommend. Mains ordered were Vegetable Byriami, Lamb Shampan Handi and Chicken Shampan Handi (see photos) which are both very spicy and served on the bone with plenty of curry. One in our party eats only gluten free dishes and they found it easy to choose as well as receiving some guidance from the waiter. Overall we really enjoyed our visit and would eat here again. The restaurant has also won some awards.. Overall we enjoyed the food

We arrived and were promptly shown our table. We ordered meals from the special menu, plus a vegetable bhaji and tarka daal. The starters were nice. Well presented and tasty. As it was Ramadan the manager informed the customers that there would be some small delays whilst the observant staff broke fasting, this was fine and good to see the staff were being looked after. We did not mind at all. The delay was minimal. The mains arrived and the curries, rice and naans were good. The vegetable bhaji was good too, however the daal was not. It was too smooth, more like a split pea soup and there was very little spiced flavour, not at all what I have ever experienced before, nor what I would want to experience again. When the manager stepped to ask if all was OK with the meal, I offered honest feedback in regards to the daal. What disappointed, was that he was unable to accept this feedback, stating that's just how they do it, that may be the case but at the very least listen to the feedback, rather than dismiss it as he did. Just because many people do not give such feedback does not mean it is all good. We finished our meal and left. I was disappointed in how the manager responded and it spoilt what had been nice night. As stated, food is good, the surroundings and decor are nice, but a note to the manager, if you can't accept honest feedback from a customer, don't ask them how their meal is.

Well beyond my expectations. There are 5 similar restaurants within a short walk of each other. Glad I chose Shampan. Food was great and service was to a high standard. For around 30 pounds, you can get a pretty good 3 course meal.

Shampan is an exceptional dining experience. I go here often as Kami and the team consistently deliver unmatched customer service, going above and beyond to ensure every guest feels valued and satisfied. The food at Shampan is tremendous, setting a new standard of excellence in taste and presentation. I highly recommend everyone to experience how amazing Shampan is as it's more than just a meal, it's an unforgettable journey of flavours and hospitality.

This is one of our favourite restaurants. Fab choice of cocktails (which are delicious) tasty beautifully presented food, great customer service and really lovely staff. Even helped out putting a plaster on my cut finger. We brought the kids this time as a treat and they loved it. Begged me to write this review. We Will definitely be returning 🙂

Best curry house by a mile in Whitley Bay and the service is excellent.

First time visit yesterday evening with large group of friends and a wonderful time was had by all at this fantastic restaurant. There's a great menu and a wide range of dishes to pick from.When it arrived, the food was top notch and enjoyed by all and we were served by a very attentive and friendly team. Nothing was too much trouble and with relaxed surroundings, good company and great food we will definitely be back. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

In Whitley Bay last weekend...told to visit Shampan by the taxi driver the night before...couldn't get in but the guys found a table for us...wait the extra half hour...its well worth it...amazing food...amazing service and amazing mojitoes...😜😜

I don't use the phone due to disability. There was no email address on their website, so I requested a reservation using their website booking form. I received a message stating my request had been sent successfully, but never heard back.

We visited yesterday evening having been fitted in at short notice. The food was fabulous, the best Indian style food that I have ever tasted. The cocktails were amazing. The staff were so friendly and very attentive. The decor was beautiful and all in all we had a super evening. Thank you so much.

The food is outstanding, very well presented and generous portions. We had the Sunday special which was excellent value for money. The staff are very friendly and attentive, always polite and cheerful. Really nicely decorated and plenty of space and airy. Would 100% recommend and we will certainly be returning.

We had been loyal customers of a restaurant in Tynemouth for several years but having experienced a decline in food quality together with poor staff service we decided to find another restaurant and we went here, to the Shampan. It will be nearly two years since we first dined at the Shampan and we have become firm regulars. The restaurant itself is beautifully fitted out, and always spotlessly clean, the tables are set with nice linen and the staff take pride in setting the tables. The staff themselves are so professional but still very pleasant and friendly. They are always dressed very smartly. During our many visits, we have enjoyed trying various dishes and we have always found every one to be first class. Service is always swift and tables are cleared of empty dishes and plates very efficiently, the entire staff all seem to work as a team and they make your dining experience an absolute pleasure. Taking everything into account that the Shampan has to offer, in our opinion no other restaurant that we have visited provides such great food and service consistantly.

It was very very busy for a Tuesday evening, which probably accounted for the slow service. Pickle trays were good as was the Punjabi chicken starter. Lamb starter looked a little bit small. All mains were good and plentiful. The freebie Baby Guinnesses were enjoyable, as ever. Service very polite and they did apologise for the delay.

Six lads for a midweek curry, we all chose something from the Thursday Menu. Pleasantly surprised at the portions which were great. All had a beer or two, busy restaurant; all had a good night.

Unreal food, staff are great too. Been coming here for years, and sure I recognise some staff from other resteraunts that aren't around any more Usually no issues at all, but the last time we went, we had to wait quite a while for our table even though we had a booking. Not a huge issue, but would've been nice to settle down and have a drink while we ordered, felt a tad rushed!

Thank you for a wonderful evening last night. We really enjoyed our meals and the service was excellent. The owner was very attentive and apologised for the fact that we didn't get a booth that we requested but it was not a problem at all, we still had a lovely table. Excellent food great service and really friendly staff

This is one of the best Indian restaurants we have dined in in the UK. We were lucky to get a table without a reservation. The team of staff were exemplary - well dressed, professional, courteous and friendly. Inside it's a nice modern design with varying dining areas. We opted for the banquet meal and I have to say each course was pretty much perfect. The timing of courses was flawless - quick to clear the table and next course served straight away, this was very impressive. I was just gutted we didn't manage to finish it all. It can be a bit tricky parking if you're driving here but I just parked down a side road which was only a couple of minutes walk away - the sea front is only 5 minutes stroll away. The Malabar IPA on draught was one of the nicest IPA's I've had👌🏻, I'm going to have to see if I can get it in the shops. Looking forward to our next visit! 😋 Update 13/7/23 - again, as previous, food, venue and staff all excellent!

Fabulous meal, service excellent!! (although the samosas were a little too spicy for me, I am a spice whimp!!) chicken tikka was delicious, nann too! The other half said the lamb handi (staff curry) was outstanding!

Really disappointed in the veg Rogan Josh curry. It basically consisted of a frozen mixed veg pack … ie carrots peas green beans all fried up with onions & then covered in a tin of tomatoes. No spice, no flavour whatsoever. Spoke to Manager who wasn’t really interested, they took it away & just added a large spoonful of chilli powder … needless to say still didn’t eat it. Worst Indian dish I have ever had & going by the reviews I was expecting it to be the best.

Outstanding meal for partners birthdays the food was the best Indian we've had buy far. Service is fantastic with the addition of a decorated table, birthday balloon and a cake with a firework candle when the staff came over to sing happy birthday my partner was blown away total suprise! It's all he's talked about it really made his day. I cannot thank them all enough for the effort in service and food. We will definitely be spreading the word and making this a monthly treat visit. If you haven't been here yet your missing out. Thankyou to all the team:)

Very good quality a bit more expensive this time so we won't be able to go as often may well do the take away option next time.

My hubby is so picky when it comes to Indian food, we couldn’t fault the taste it was lovely .If I had any criticism I’d say the nan was particularly small, usually we would half one but this one was for one person. Not bothered enough to loose a star but next time will order a nan each instead of sharing. Owner is very friendly and I was provided with a free drink whilst I waited for my meal. Overall it’s my new go to takeaway

Travel over 20+ miles to visit as I truly believe this is the best Indian restaurant I've visited. Staff cannot be praised enough. Basically everything is of the highest quality. I'm normally a grumpy old man so getting praise off myself says a lot.

Excellent service and excellent food! Visited tonight with my family. Great vegan options and even a vegan desert which I’ve never seen in an Indian restaurant. Service was great - we had a chat with a waiter about his love of cheesecake didn’t get his name but he was lovely. Staff kept coming to check on us and you could see them organising tables making sure everything was set correctly paying great attention to detail. The food was delicious and great quality ingredients. Thank you cant wait to return

We visited Valentines Day & were warmly greeted & I was welcomed with a red rose 🌹 Immaculate restaurant & table decorated with heart confetti They didn't take advantage of an overpriced Valentines menu as lots of places do. The menu was explained & and the recommendations were given . Great tasting food, delicious & generous portions , plenty to bring home. Extremely professional & great service. We'd highly recommend Shampan Restaurant. I enjoyed cocktails & the waiter noticed my hubby reading his cobra glass & gave him one to bring home. Cheers 🍻

We usually love Shampan and go there regularly, but were very disappointed with our experience last night. We ordered vegetable samosas and were unfortunately given lamb samosas on two occasions! They took them away and then brought us meat again!! It just didn't feel like...
