Namaste has moved to Royal Quays outlet. No longer in Whitley Bay! Not a lot more to say but need to write more before it can be accepted by TripAdviser

Had afternoon tea for my birthday and what a lovely surprise. The food was wonderful, tasty and plentiful. I didn’t know what to expect but wasn’t disappointed. This was delivered to my home and was very reasonably priced. Thank you so much.

Gosh popped in to Namaste briefly for a treat of a nice healthy pancake, and I was not disappointed. From the service, the surroundings and the food and the pancake which was yummy of course I would give it 10/10. This is such a hidden little gem that I will definitely be returning

Two of us called in here for lunch we were met by the Lady owner who is very pleasant and helpful. We ordered three dishes to share and had a nice cup of freshly brewed coffee. The food was cooked to order and was very filling and warmed us up on a very cold day. The shop is stocked with Indian/Asian ingredients so you can buy items to make your own curry etc at home too.

We visited for lunch today and were very impressed. The owners knowledge of the dishes was excellent and really helped us to work out what we’d like. Each dish is made fresh to order and as we’d ordered 5 street foods and a Bombay sandwich each dish was brought out as it was ready; we loved the excitement of what’s next and what will it be like. It was like a multi course meal so nothing got cold while we were busy eating other parts. Great experience for us but not if you’re in a hurry. Highly recommend and we will return.

Stumbled on this gem of a place by chance. Really friendly owner, very quirky as the inside of the restaurant is also a shop, reminded me of a recent trip to Sri Lanka. The food is very authentic, really good quality and reasonably priced. Will definitely be back and the take away menu is good also. Highly recommend

We had afternoon tea . The filling in the toastie was chicken curry . It was really nice but it was served between two slices of thick white bread (one a crust ). It would have been much better with a naan of some sort . The rest of the tea was average at best . The owner is very eager to please but in this case failed . It just wasn't very nice and poor value even though we had a voucher . Sorry but it didn't work .

My wife eventually persuaded me to give Namaste a try for a light lunch. The place itself is mix of Indian grocery / hardware store and cafe. The staff were friendly, very helpful and provided timely service. On entering at about 12.30 pm on a Friday it was empty and the waiter/chef was sweeping the floor. We sat ourselves at a table (eclectic mix of old furniture) and notice it really could have done with wipe clean. We followed the advice of owner with choice of food, which was very tasty and just about the right amount for a light lunch, and at £17 (including 2x0.5 litre bottles of water) was at the high end of a reasonable price range for what we had. I think it has the potential to be a winner if it were to focus on being an eatery (junk the grocery/hardware store) and smarten up decor/furnishings to suit the target kind of clientele that are likely to be interested. Good luck.

Fairly new location in the middle of Whitley Bay specialising mostly in Indian dishes. Our first visit was full of surprise discovering a large selection of spices and other items such as rice and chapati flour were on sale. Such a large variety of different types of tea and other ingredients were on offer. We were made very welcome by the owner. As we have had a taste for Masala tea recently in India and got use to its unique flavour ,we did try here too and were not disappointed, the tea tasted as delicious as we had previously. Freshly made. The samosas were freshly cooked on the premises and served with a sort of tomatoes chillies salsa. Very hot but tasty. The menu looks great, offering various curries which can be ordered and freshly cooked. Vegetarian meals available as well salmon dishes and others. These dishes can also be accessed from Facebook and Just East. Take away meals can be ordered and delivered for a small charge. We had a very pleasant afternoon and soon will return for a full meal.

We had a wonderful Indian high tea, with a variety of both savoury and sweet dishes, including somosas, keema toastie, puri, and South Indian vegetable dhal, jalabi, and others. Everything was freshly cooked. The owner is lovely, the service personal, and the value exceptional.
