Takdir in North Tyneside

Food was nice but don't use their family ran taxi service as they will take your eyes out. £18 for a 5.5 mile trip at 6.15 pm. No meter in the taxi either.

Went to this restaurant about 6 years ago on a works night out and had an awful experience. The food was terrible and as a result I have never been back since. However a surprise family booking was made and I returned with some apprehension. I assume since then, there has been a change of chef and staff as I was not disappointed, and what a huge transformation from my original experience...!! The place was almost packed out. It was clean and tidy, and everything was just perfect. The food was fantastic and couldnt be faulted. The staff were friendly, helpful and very welcoming. A big change of heart for me so I will definately be returning here again soon. 100% recommended

Every visit to Takdir is top notch. Service is excellent - Aayan and Stacey incredibly friendly and attentive. All staff make the effort to greet / say goodbye and thanks for service. Highly recommend the Takdir. We have visited this well run, long standing family establishment several times, over many years, and are never left disappointed. The staff are continuously genial and attentive; the food is always lovely and never lets down, authentic homemade curries, washed down with Cobra or nice wines. Special thanks to Aayan; a confident, approachable, and friendly waiter, with a great personality, and like all staff, happy to help, with a smile on their face. Whitley Bay is spoilt with a plethora of outstanding curry houses, and Takdir is definitely high up the list to go too.

Just wanted to say how amazing the service was from our waiter Aayan. We visited for my brothers birthday. He was so polite and friendly to us all. So attentive. So please let him know how special he made my brothers birthday. And of course the food was delicious ❤️

Awful customer service. Accidentally ordered here and rang up immediately to let them know and asked to cancel and get a refund, was told on the phone to ring back the next day at 4pm. I then get a call 2 hours later asking where I am for my curry! Unsurprisingly have not refunded me despite saying they would, and send rude emails.

This used to be a great restaurant. Now its over priced bland & tasteless. So many better restaurants near by ,try somewhere else 🤢

food was spot on popadoms crispy onion bajas crisp not greasy prawn on puree excellent great curries plenty meat even on the special staff and service was excellent we had a really nice night thankyou

I visited this restaurant alone, and had a lovely evening. The food was fantastic, I had mixed grill starter and lamb Rogan Josh. My server (I believe her name was Stacey) was really friendly and went out of her way to provide great service - just the right amount of chatting and leaving me alone, and then even running down the road to find me a takeaway cup for my coffee so I could go and enjoy the sun setting on the beach - thank you Stacey! If I'm ever in Whitley Bay again I'll defo pay another visit x

15 of us visited on a Thursday evening, the venue it’s self is stunning, right on the sea front, the decor is beautiful and the staff were amazing from the moment we landed. Loads of beers and cocktails to choose from. The pickle tray and poppadoms were great plenty of sauces and plenty of poppadoms. The main courses were very pleasant, if not a little saucy and most also got the takdir special nan, a little unusual with burger cheese in the nan, but again couldn’t really fault it, rice dishes were also nice. Definitely a great venue for a lovely evening. But as usual we have to mention the downsides… Parking was a bit of a pain to find a spot, only 3 spots outside, and the payed car park was full down the road. A few of our curry gentlemen mentioned the lamb on the mixed starter was a little bit tough and the tandoori chops were under seasoned. The kofta on the mixed starter was also a bit small and lacking in flavour. The gents that like their curry’s hot noted the lack of heat. The food was great value for money, big portion sizes, unfortunately no show stoppers to report. We all enjoyed our curry’s, staff absolutely amazing. Venue top notch. We rated this place 7.9 out of 10.

Excellent service, knowledge of Coeliac and the food was the best we’ve tasted in Whitley Bay. We were dealt with by 3 very helpful friendly and attentive staff. They went out of their way to make my daughter feel very comfortable eating there. The food was so tasty, my chicken Bhuna was excellent with the chicken so tender. 10/10 for us!!

One of the best Indian restaurants in the north east. Always delicious food, every course is perfect. Extensive menu with different curry dishes not offered elsewhere, spice/heat levels are just right. Fantastic 4/5 course special at selected times. Presentation of food fabulous, bursting with flavour, plenty of vegetarian options. Service very attentive and professional but friendly. Great ambience and atmosphere, cocktails are amazing too.

Food is amazing however disappointed with a few things we arrived early (not the fault of the restaurant) so was asked to wait in the bar and ordered drinks totally understandable ordered a cocktail and a beer the cocktail took about 30 mins to arrive (in their defence they did give me a free cocktail which I was grateful for) but I was annoyed that a couple came in without a reservation but knew a waiter and got a table for 2 before us which I'm sure was our table then a group of 4 came in and reservation for 7.30pm got seated again before us and I'm still waiting for my 1st drink. Got offered a seat in a slightly drafty area that nobody else seemed to use but that was fine I was just wanting my food n go. Went to place an order oh u can't have that the oven isn't working hmm shame because this has been our favourite Indian restaurant for many years but felt very let down n pushed to one side

One of the best if not the best curries we have ever had. We love pathia and it was perfection, the lamb was so tender you didn't need a knife to cut it and the chicken tikka katmandu had a lovely heat to it. All the supporting dishes were perfect too from the poppadoms and pickles, the vegetable pakora, pilau rice and garlic and coriander nan, nothing could be faulted. The atmosphere and decor all added to make this a memorable meal. I just wish we lived closer.

Visited for a curry on a blustery Wednesday night. We were the only ones for about 5 mins and then some other customers came in. We had a lovely booth - it felt cosy. We managed popadoms, starters and main courses all of which were delicious. Had to have some of the main course wrapped up as a takeaway as I couldn’t finish it all. The young lad who looked after us was lovely, chatty, attentive - a real asset to the restaurant.

We had a takeaway delivery on Saturday night. Ordered at 6.45 for an 8.00 delivery. Food arrived on time, hot, was very fresh and tasted amazing. Just what you want from a takeaway.

I absolutely 💯 recommended this place. I went to celebrate my birthday with friends. Stacey member of staff her customer services and customer care was absolutely perfect what a pleasure it was to have this. Normally, you rushed out the door, but last night, it was so calm the food I couldn't fault in anyway what so ever. So guys, if u looking for a lovely restaurant with lovely staff, this is definitely the place not to mention the toffee pudding with a candle on and staff sing happy birthday to make your day that extra special beautiful place

We are frequent visitors and can not recommend Takdir enough. Always lovely food, but the atmosphere and attentive staff are what makes this place brilliant. We celebrated my daughters 25th birthday here and only mentioned once. but they brought a slice of cake and a candle with her name written on. It's the little things that matter, and they really made it special. Thank you!

Been to the Takdir numerous times now over many years, regular customers and used to go back in the old building! The quality has never dropped. Staff are as lovely as always/ Fantastic take away and restaurant. And lovely decoration!

This is a great restaurant with friendly and efficient service. The food is very good and the chef even produced a dish not on the menu. A naan bread straight from the tandoor oven is a must. The banquet menu is worth a look (Sun-Thur) as it definitely works out cheaper if you are hungry.

We called in on a Saturday evening in November hoping there would be a table for 2. The restaurant was very busy, but fortunately for us they squeezed us into a table near the bar. The food was excellent, plenty of choice and good sized portions. I love spicy food so I was spoiled for choice, however, my wife is not a big fan of very spicy food so struggles for choice at most restaurants. The team were more than happy to accommodate by making her a vegetable Jalfrezi in a milder version than usual, which she loved. The staff were brilliant, attentive and very friendly, nothing was too much trouble. I'm not surprised it was so busy if this is the normal standard, we will certainly be back, it's just a shame it's not on our doorstep.

This is the best curry place in the area. The staff are really friendly and helpful. We go regularly and have always been really welcomed, me and my partner love this restaurant. The food is outstanding and really fresh. It's a must if you are in the area.

A very tempting menu, and food beautifully cooked. COVID regulations all respected, we felt very safe.

Please don't order anything from this place. I order Mixed Grilled which was supposed to be sheik kabab, tandoori chicken and chicken peaces but its been delivered in same bag mix with Tandoori flavours so everything tatse Tandoori. Also ordered Murgh Puree and they have folded the puree in the same curry sauce which makes the puree soaked in the oil of curry. When called to speak Manager at the restaurant he said that's how we do and you can leave a review because we have many customers so your review doesn't effects us. I request customers not to order from here so they can treat customers as they should be. I have posted the pics too so you can see what I mean. Don't want to leave even 1 star for this service

Food quite expensive for what it was. The lamb in my bhuna was lovely and tender, but unfortunately it wasn’t seasoned well and had little taste. My partner had a chicken madras and again it had no real flavour and was fat too mild for a madras. A shame as not the cheapest place!

I can't comment on the food because we never got to try it. They cancelled our order because they decided we needed rice even though we didn't order it - really?? Deciding what I personally want to eat? Who tf does that?Called to receive what can only be described as the attitude of a three-toed sloth; did not care for us at all and couldn't be bothered to just make the food we wanted. Offered no help of a refund - apparently "Ubereats will deal with it". Just so, so disappointing.

The food - over the weeks, months and years- has been consistently delicious fuelling fantastic family feasts and making fond memories with loved ones.The portions are extremely generous (especially the takeout set-menu banquet) which is matched by the highest hospitality (including when we are sit-in guests).The Team (including it's management) are genuine, personable, polite with a cheerful demeanour throughout our families many 'Takdir'.This review is a culmination of the last 10 years of living in Whitley Bay - a TRUE 5 stars

A deaf couple that always rely on lipreading due to coronavirus situation with everyone having to use their facemasks for the rules which is understandable but... what a super staff with extra deaf aware by helping us with easy visuals, writing notes and easy use of communication that made us super relaxed, lush drinks, and amazing spicy food that had us satisfied. Perfect! I used to spent a lot of time at Takdir many years ago at the old premises when I was young and single. The lovely service is still the same, they are so friendly, efficient and helpful. I made a mistake and booked for the wrong night, despite being fully booked on a Saturday night they managed to slot us in. Amazing Covid one way system, constant cleaning, disposable menus and sanitizer. Really well organised. Food was perfect, good delay between courses and super efficient. Loved the lamb Dhansak. Needed to be rolled out after ha. The young girl looking after us was soooo helpful, definitely made for a career in hospitality.

What a fabulous freshly cooked meal my sister and I had here! Great service too during a difficult period of curfew for Covid. I can’t recommend highly enough.

Just finished a takeaway from Takdir and have to say that it’s the best we’ve had in a very long time.Chicken Pathia, Lamb Tikka Massalla Punjabi-style and Mixed Meat Gamechanger...all absolutely gorgeous! Oh, had lamb chops too and they were sooo tender and tasty.Takdir’s on top form....well done and many thanks indeed.

We visited Takdir last week. The food was tasty, the staff were attentive and the service was great. Would definitely recommend.

I had herd great things about this restaurant and take away, so we decided To give it a try. We had herd it gets very busy so you need to order early to get your meal delivered when you want. We did this but it came 25 minutes late. The meals were so bland and had no taste at all. I got the wrong nan bread which was like cardboard. It was also one of the most expensive takeaways we had. I’m sorry but we shall not be going back here again.

Wow o wow, had the most amazing meal at Takdir. In fact it’s the best Indian meal that I have ever tasted. The service was excellent and it was extremely good value for money. In fact, when we are returning home on Friday, we will make a detour so we can have another meal here!

Visited this evening with my husband, fantastic food and one of the best Indians I have had. I had the king prawn curry which was so fresh and juicy king prawns. My husband had Lamb bhuna which was beautifully cooked to perfection. Will definitely be back!

Okay, I've reviewed the Takdir previously but, given that we've just spent a week in the NE and we had no idea whether the Takdir would be open (fully or just for take-aways) due to Covid-19, we had to re-visit our favourite Indian restaurant in the area.We shouldn't have worried. It was fully open and so popular that we had to book a table in advance. The interior was well laid out to ensure a degree of social distancing. The place was spotlessly clean and the food was excellent.Service was great (special mention is deserved for Chloe who was helpful and attentive when we needed something.). We genuinely enjoyed it so much, we visited three times during our six night stay in Whitley Bay.

My self and partner popped into the Takdir on a busy sunday evening for a takeaway. We were met as always by the amazingly helpful staff and were quickly given a drink while we waited in the beautiful bar area. I ordered the tandoori mixed grill and my partner had the lamb roganjosh. My partner had mentioned to the waiter that we were celebrating my birthday and upon reciving our food the manager very kindly informed us that they had added some tandoori lamb chops and spicey garlic chips all free of charge to accompany the meal. And I must say all the food we had was exceptional as was the customer service that we recieved. In my opinion the Takdir is the best Indian restaurant in the Norht East and i can not recommend it enough. Well done guys

absolutely fantastic service from the off, the value for the quality of food you get is absolutely outstanding, from the condiment tray to the main, which would feed 2 people, is a different class to anywhere in the area. The difference in this place compared to takeaways that I thought were nice is actually shocking. You can tell the chef and the cooks take pride in the food they make, to have this top quality food pitch in an area where there's alot of restaurants who claim to be the best, this is THE BEST. could go on and on about this restaurant, from the set out and atmosphere, to the food but find out for yourself...

Meal was ok. Customer service disgusting, talking at us and not to us. Not paying attention to us. Practically Throwing the meals down on table, we had to swap over meals because he “served” us wrong cause he didn’t listen or care. The “Pepsi” was AWFUL and I couldn’t drink it. It just wasn’t a friendly service , you’d think they’d be great ful for the custom seeing as there’s LOADS more curry houses that we could have gone to but we choose this one, which we won’t be doing again..... I hear Shikara is good? I mean it’s only up the road too. Friendly customer service when you are competing with several other curry houses is key. There’s nothing special about takdir.

Rang for meal delivery and was charged over £10 on website menu. Informed their prices had risen but website had not been updated. Advertised for discount on takeaway but this was disallowed because meal was being delivered. Also £3 delivery charge. Advertised meal was £24 but charged £37. Disgusting. Will definitely not be using this restaurant again. Such a shame as the food is good.

We’ve heard so many good reviews about this place , we finally booked a table to enjoy our first meal in a restaurant since March. Food , service and the overall experience was considering the guidelines that are now in place. We had a 5 course banquet each which consisted of poppadoms , onion Bhajis chicken balti and madras. Rice dishes , spicy chips and a chicken tikka naan. Everything was absolutely beautiful . Excellent staff felt safe and at ease with the safety measures . Deffo recommend and looking forward to our next visit .

We ordered from here on Sunday night and the food arrived freshly cooked, hot and delicious. The Takdir pathia lamb was a particular highlight and I am already looking forward to having it again! There was a generous portion of lamb and every piece was melt-in-the-mouth tender.

We had our first take out in lockdown last night from Takdir. We travelled from Morpeth after seeing a post on Facebook of the new flatbreads. We ordered a mixed meat and a chicken flatbread and took down to the beach to eat, they were that good we ended up ordering another one to eat on the way home!! Amazing food and top class service. We will definitely be back.

An excellent restaurant. I’ve often visited and the atmosphere is beautiful. They have always been busy, the menu selections are varied, and the personable attentive staff really know about the dishes. Recently tried the delivery service during lockdown for a sunny evening outside. Food arrived by the time specified, piping hot and was glorious. Would fully recommend.

Had an amazing takeaway from Takdir , the food was outstanding, delivered on time. The special Banquet is fabulous value and quantity is superb. Wouldn’t have a takeaway from anywhere else as no other could compete with the standard. So pleased Takdir have reopened and doing takeaways for us. Appreciate all the staff very much, thankyou. Can’t wait for the next one.

Loved the food, loved the ambience, service was excellent, would recommend to anyone travelling to Whitley Bay, will definitely go again when visiting the Daughter.

This is the first time we’ve been here and did so on the recommendation of Trip Advisor recommendations- I was not disappointed. This is a busy restaurant but the food was timely, very hot and really, really tasty. Service was excellent, even though it was a busy Saturday night, the staff were calm and worked well together. Wine was lovely and served with a bottle of water with ice/ lemon. And the toilets were very clean. We will definitely be back.

Visited here last night. I wasn’t feeling well so didn’t touch my meal but asked to take it away. The 2 cartons contained my partners meagre leftovers and some rice. Not happy 😡. Where did that full meal go???

I visited with my blind friend who is a guide dog user. The staff were very thoughtful and friendly. Water was provided for the dog and the table had room for her too. The food was lovely and service exceptional. The access is flat so wheelchair users would find access easy too. Well done to all and a very sincere ‘thank you’.

Came across here by accident. Brilliant food, great value. They do a keema curry which is hard to find in an Indian restaurant. The decor inside is fantastic, some booths with chandeliers over them. They also have a cocktail menu which is good prices. Just a shame we don’t live here or we would be in there every week. Will return if we are in the area again. Great staff as well

Good value for money at £10.95 for a three course evening meal the Takdir is worth a visit to sample the shonda menu. There’s a limited choice on this menu but something for everyone with different levels of spice available. Definitely worth a visit.

The fairly recent refurb has transformed this place into a luxury restaurant with excellent food, service and decor. Highly recommend and will go again for sure.

The service was quick and friendly the food was very filling. After half my plate i was very full and it was very tasty. There were many choices and the overall experience is great but the only problem is it’s a little pricey. Would highly recommend to go as a group or family
