The best restaurants serving Indian food in Newcastle upon Tyne North East

This was our third visit to the restaurant. We were really happy the first two times but this visit was even better than previous ones. We were celebrating our son‘s birthday with his partner and all four of us ordered different things and tried each other’s dishes. We loved the sev puri chat pre-starters and then shared 4 starters. All were great but the paneer garlic chilli pepper and gunpowder prawns were particularly good. For mains we had grilled Marsala fish (sea bass), chingri malai prawn curry, Malabar coastal chicken curry and the chef made a chicken tikka pathia for us despite it not being on the menu. The chef varied the degree of spicing on a couple of the dishes as requested. We also had rice, bread and mixed tarka dal. We enjoyed everything. The dal was particularly good. We had a really lovely evening and would 100% recommend, just wish we didn’t live over 300 miles away but we’ll definitely be back on our next visit to Newcastle.

There was 14 us visited on Fri 18/10/24 for my birthday. The food was amazing from the poppadoms and pickle tray, starters and mains. The food was freshly cooked and so tasty. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. Service was fantastic and friendly too. Highly recommend. I love their merg modhu shale it’s delicious, but one of our group really enjoyed the chocolate masala too. Plenty of choice and all tasted delicious. We will be back soon 5 stars from us all star ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Got a fresh cream cake for Eid yesterday - fresh and delicious!!! All I can say is I'll never be going to the other place down the road, ever!

Excellent. Food AMAZING flavour, we had curry of the day and tasted so good. Friendly staff and good prices. Definitely would recommend and will be going back. Thank you Snackwallah.

BEST TAKEAWAY IN NEWCASTLE!! Have ordered from here many times now and it's been great every time. I've also ordered with friends/family who have all loved it too, vegans and non-vegans alike. As a vegan, there is nothing quite like a fully plant based menu and the peace of mind that brings when ordering, and I'm not aware of anywhere else with so many options. I would highly recommend the onion bhajis, garlic or peshwari naan, and the spinach paratha. There are so many curries to choose from, but some of my favourites include the seitan madras, jalfrezi, chana masala and aloo gobi. They also sell vegan pizzas and chips etc, so there's little reason to order from anywhere else - always better to support an independent family-run business. Very good value for money also. The staff are lovely and easy to get in contact with (via text etc) when needed. I would say delivery takes an hour on average - a perfectly reasonable amount of time, especially considering I'm a bit further out (North Kenton), and I think the owner delivers herself. So as long as you order with 1-2h in mind, you can't be disappointed! 🙂 I would love to come in-person if they re-open the restaurant one day.

Happened upon this gorgeous restaurant by accident when a the cafe we wanted to visit was closed...and the food is the best I've had in years. Ate myself silly and would absolutely come back again if I lived any closer! Excellent for gluten free and some of the best choice I've had in a long time. I had the Dhansak and couldn't help but get a side of fish fritters. Even the poppadoms were gluten free!

We visit this restaurant regularly and it is always top class! The staff are really friendly and the food is always fantastic! Highly recommended

Great food as always. Annoyed that they say it’s delivered when it isn’t and I have to contact to find out what’s going on . Would prefer it they just informed us when they’re running late.

We went as part an after meeting do. There were quite a lot of us. Saying that the service was absolutely spot on. The food was preordered was really tasty and the Dosas to die for. Really yum. The area we were sitting in was a little dated but can't comment on the rest of the restaurant. Would really recommend this place especially if going with a group of friends.

Good table, efficient service even though they were very busy. We had a range of food dishes, all were very good with flavour and just about the right level of spice and heat. Quantities easily enough for 1 person per dish. Pleasant friendly busy atmosphere.

1 hora de calle aquí. Definitivamente no será el último! Absolutamente increíble comida de Sri Lanka! El cangrejo era absolutamente increíble, definitivamente vale la pena el desastre en el que terminó mi otra mitad 🤣 El personal era encantador y muy servicial con recomendaciones de guarniciones basadas en la red ordenada. Me alegro de haber encontrado auténtica comida auténtica de Sri Lanka en el noreste.

Our favourite restaurant excellent food good service and very friendly staff

Unfortunately I had a bad experience in this restaurant tonight. 3 of us tried to go for an evening meal but when we entered at about 22:00 on a Friday night, an older chap (possibly the owner) quickly said “can you eat quickly”. We still reluctantly entered but was told to quickly order and that if we ordered, all our food would have to come out at the same time (popadoms, starters, mains etc). We didn’t want to be rushed in this way so we decided to just leave and go somewhere more accommodation to us. Such a shame as we used to love that restaurant. Unfortunately we won’t be going back, the attitude from the staff was terrible.
