Jaipur Tandoori in Newcastle upon Tyne

There was 14 us visited on Fri 18/10/24 for my birthday. The food was amazing from the poppadoms and pickle tray, starters and mains. The food was freshly cooked and so tasty. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. Service was fantastic and friendly too. Highly recommend. I love their merg modhu shale it’s delicious, but one of our group really enjoyed the chocolate masala too. Plenty of choice and all tasted delicious. We will be back soon 5 stars from us all star ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Collected takeaway Sunday night. 1st time customer, & have been on a quest to find takeaway food comparable in standard with Brighton Tandoori since they closed, after being a customer there for 25+ years. Have to say this is the nearest so far to the Holy Grail, & have spent a lot of time & money in our search, only to be disappointed on numerous occasions.

We came down from Scotland to visit friends and they had booked us into Jaipur for our dinner. The food was fantastic as was the service. Every plate was clear, great variety to choose from, the food looked superb as it arrived and tasted just as good as it looked. We had chicken, lamb and prawn dishes and all were excellent and also great value. Would definitely recommend Jaipur.

Went on my own after a night out in Newcastle. Had onion bhajis for starters, main course Chicken jalfrezi onion rice and nan bread. The food was fantastic and the staff were fantastic great service. Great quality and good price too would highly recommend.

Booked a takeaway and it was late by one hour over the expected time . I’ve also booked one for delivery and did not get till 12.15 am . So if your booking expect difficulties . Gave it 2 stars as the food was decent otherwise 1 star.

After having takeaways from Jaipur for years I booked the restaurant for my sons 12th birthday as he loves the food…the food was amazing and the service is great to…they really went the extra mile to make his birthday special…will definitely be returning soon!

We were in the pub next to the restaurant and we chose to eat there without knowing it, a great discovery! The food is really very good, the best Indian meal I've ever had, the prices are really fair and above all, the service is top notch, the waiter was really very nice. The restaurant was super clean, I can only recommend it.

I went out with some old work friends with the intention of going to another local Indian restaurant, which he hadn’t booked as there had been no need to previously. Unfortunately for us at that moment, it wasn’t open. With me being the local lad I knew Jaipur was just up the road, so along we went. First impressions were how varied the menu was, took quite a while to make up my mind. I went for the chicken pakoras to start, which was a decent sized portion. The others got sheik kebabs and king prawn Bajis, every commented have nice theirs was. For mains I ordered chicken tikka balti, nut pilau, tikka naan. When it arrived I remember thinking how different it looked from other places I’d been. However, it was also by quite a distance the nicest version of this dish that I’ve had. The rice was amazing on its own and the naan was really light and not doughy like I’ve had in other places. My friends also commented on how their orders were similarly better than they’d had at other places. We’ll be back.

Simply Unreal . Beat curry had hands down. Everything was 10/10 ,popadmoms ,man ,chips and the two currys we had were second to none. Fantastic staff our server was delightful. Easily Newcastle hidden gem of a curry house. If havnt been enforce make sure you go there next.

We visited Jaipur with the family after reading the fantastic reviews. When we arrived we were greeted by a polite staff member and shown to our table straight away. It is bring your own alcohol so they immediately offered us glasses and water for the table. We ordered starters including onion Bhajis, king prawn on puri and chicken chaat. All the starters were delicious and good portions. We then got a selection of mains, rices and naans. One of our party members doesn’t really like dishes with sauces so asked if they did a dry spicy prawn dish. They said they didn’t have one on the menu but would create one for him. His main looked absolutely fantastic and the catering for individual needs was much appreciated. Throughout our meal the staff checked in regularly to ensure we were happy with the food. Overall it was a great experience eating some high quality Indian food.

Me and my friend had dinner here earlier on today. The food was absolutely amazing. Came out quick and it was hot and fresh. We were served by the lovely Mohammed he was brilliant. He even rang us a taxi and made sure we got in safely. Would highly recommend to friends and family and will definitely be back.

This week’s curry excursion took me all the way to the beautiful historic city of Newcastle upon Tyne, A fabulous university city where modern architecture marries perfectly with some of the most beautiful old architecture in the British Isles. On a warm, eventually, sunny afternoon I wandered round the city observing the people and the vibrant life of a young modern population, I wish I could have spent much more time here. Huge department stores, London was well represented here. light modern and roomy, but sadly lacking many people with their hands in their pockets. The streets were teeming with people, unfortunately many of the stores were very quiet. I do wonder how long some of these historic high street names will weather the current situation before, like so many before them, close their doors for good. The sad empty neglected empty shops are testimony to this. Anyway, on the real reason for this visit. The Indian restaurant scene. Newcastle is not short of just about every cuisine on the planet, there is something for everyone. So, after trawling through Trip Advisors recommendations for Indian Cuisine in Newcastle, I had decided on visiting Sachin’s Restaurant on Forth Bank, which unfortunately didn’t bother opening! No indication anywhere on its website or its rather grubby exterior that they could not be bothered opening today! So, the next one on the list was the excellent modern bright 26 or so, seater THE JAIPUR Restaurant on West Road, which was a fair distance from Sachin’s, definitely beyond walking distance, But well worth the effort. Fronted by the larger-than-life, “Sammy,” and his side kick, Mohamad. exactly the sort of personality you need to be running a restaurant, big smiling face, a sense of humour, and a very warm welcome. Unfortunately, it is not licenced, but they have no objection to you taking in your own alcohol but on this occasion, I made do with diet coke. OK, the food, the menu is different to anything you will normally find, with such dishes as Murgh-e-Khazana or Lamb or chicken Chana Bhuna, Luari mangsho. Bhuna Keema Matter, the list went on and on! But Mohamad was ready to explain these dishes to you. I went for my benchmark stuff, Poppadom’s, crisp, snappy and fresh with an excellent pickle tray. Next my favourite Sheekh Kebabs, these came out piping hot and so tasty. Followed up with Chicken Jalfrezi, well-seasoned chunks of chicken Tika in a first class jalfrezi sauce. Along with a perfect soft and fluffy, Tandoori Roti to mop up the sauce. Outside we were treated to the sight and sounds of a large group of Asian men excitedly unloading large pans of what looked like various curries and various trays of delicious looking food into a building next door, apparently it was all part of a big wedding which was to take place on Monday, unloading complete, they all made their way into the Jaipur for a meal. And the Gupshup (Chit-Chat) began! Parking was the easiest that I have come across recently, a machine that took CASH! And plain English instructions on how to use it!!!! Parking no problem. Cost: about £23.00 per head, excellent value. And they take card payment. I Would recommend it. Points out of ten, 9/10 from me. Sadly, my visits to far off Indian pursuits will be nearing the seasons end quite soon. As the nights start drawing in and selfish drivers tear through the English countryside with headlights that can see for three miles resulting in me not being able to see for three days is a quest too far!

This has to be one of the best restaurants in Newcastle. Food and staff absolutely spot on, especially Sammy. He really couldn’t do enough for us, nothing was too much trouble. The onion bhaji and the kebab starters were delicious. The lamb just melted in your mouth and was so flavourful. The chicken jalfrazi and lamb ball were spot on, as was the garlic rice and cheese naan.

Excellent food and great hospitality, definitely would recommend for a casual meal or a celebration
