Khans in Newcastle upon Tyne

A last minute Saturday night decision had us visit Khan’s, the restaurant was close to full but even with no booking the staff were more than happy to accommodate the two of us. Our order consisted of poppadom’s, a pickle tray, a chicken chaat & masala fish for starters followed by two punjabi chicken tikka karahis (one with added keema!) accompanied by keema rice and a garlic n’ cheese naan. Oh… plus a quick trip to the shop 1 minute away to pick up some of our favourite lager. The food was excellent and delivered hot with perfect timing, even the poppadoms were warm, just as they should be! I traditionally don’t write reviews but felt this was worth one, the waiters were keen to talk curry and get our opinions on the food which was more than welcomed. My favourite dish was definitely the masala fish starter, the pangasius fish was a melt in the mouth delight! Overall the service was excellent and with the convenience of it being right on our doorstep we’ll be sure to visit again! I would definitely recommend.

My delivery order never arrived, when I contacted the restaurant and spoke to their driver he was rude and unhelpful. No solution was offered to my problem.

Perfect. Family been coming here for years and never failed us once. No point going anywhere else.

We are yet to visit the restaurant but have ordered the food on deliveroo many times. Each time just as amazing as the last time. The food is authentic and packed with flavour, we are never disappointed. Overall just amazing food- we cant wait to visit! :)

Above and beyond guys. Thank you for making the majority of the dishes gluten free. Much appreciated. Prawn puri was awesome and the Karahi dish was delicious, the flavours and texture of the chicken was first class. 👏🏻

Didn’t get the right rice but the rest of the order was gorgeous.

Didn’t get what we ordered. Naan came plain and Dahl was like a soup. Second time it’s been poor from here, used to be so nice. What a shame.

Came here with a large group of people from work, couldn’t fault the place the food was excellent so much to choose from, we had a range of nibbles to start off with and then had our mains. Customer service was spot on and would definitely be coming back.

Went with work friends for an evening meal. The food was excellent. I had the Punjabi chicken masala keema karahi and it was divine. The rice was perfectly cooked and the variety of naans was also good

As usual, the food was great. I accidentally gave 4 stars for delivery time in my last review and couldnt change it. We have never been disappointed with Khans in the 15 years we have been going 5stars everytime!

went to collect as was going to be 80mins for delivery so collected it as was 20mins got there was 4 ppl in front not too bad baring in mind it was Friday night! stood waiting for over 45mins. got no sorry were running behind nothing then tried to put my order in a delivery bag to get delivered. no sorry about your wait nothing was like we were bring a problem.

Delicious food from Khans. Poppadums were crushed but everything was beautiful and friendly driver.

Incomplete order and overpriced

Slight mix up with delivery, very quickly sorted out by the restaurant. Khans’ food delicious as always

We have had food from here twice. Both times we have had it delivered. Both times it has arrived with a dish missing. The first time we rang them and they delivered it 20 minutes later. The second time we had guests and couldn't wait. It is too expensive to be a dish short when you have paid for it. The food is some of the best we have had but we won't be ordering again. Once feels like a mistake. Twice feels like we have been ripped off. Sorry.

Order took 2 hours and 30 to arrive! Arrived over an hour past estimated delivery time. When we first rang was told food was on way then when we rang again was told it was just leaving kitchen. When it did arrive the curries were just warm so disappointed

Visited for the first time on a very busy Saturday evening. Great vibe. Take your own wine which is an added bonus ......But the big bonus is the food. Absolutely amazing. The layering of spicing is second to none creating an absolute taste sensation. The punjabi lamb achari literally melted in your mouth and punjabi chicken was fabulous. Pilau rice cooked to perfection and a garlic nan dripping in garlic goodness. This restaurant is a hidden gem and a MUST Try. Trust me!!

AVOID in future. Food was almost 2 hours late I telephoned and they said they were ‘busy’. The food was cold when it eventually arrived, I had to reheat some of it at home. Almost £30 order and offered £1.45 refund an INSULT. Late and cold food. I will AVOID in future.

Food was delivered earlier than expected and was Khan's usual high standard. However it was not hot and needed warming up before eating.

One of the better Indian takeaways I’ve had! Prawn puri was on point and everything else was fresh and flavoursome

Poppadoms were initially missing from order, the chicken was so tough i could barely chew it. The sauce was cold and the naan bread was tough. Really disappointing

First time I visited here and it was honestly outstanding.If I had to be critical of anything maybe starter portion could have been bigger but the taste was superb .The curries and Nan bread were amazing and they also do home made chips

This may be a great place to sit and have a meal, what has been delivered to me tonight,18/823, is heated up food, that I would not serve to a dog. A garlic Nan which was like cardboard, with NO garlic, a chicken madras which looked liked an Irish stew, and the chips ( which cost £2.70) were absolutely disgraceful, ( see photos). As I stated initially, this maybe a great place to sit and eat, because they can’t serve you with the garbage I was delivered tonight.

Khan's is a staple place we normally order from but this time the food took almost 2 hours from the order time to get to us and when it arrived it was luke warm. We haven't been able to afford to get a takeaway for some time with money being tight and expected better when your spending so much on an order. We are a little bit disappointed this time around.

Oh my god! That’s the first thing come to my head. It’s my first Asian food encounter in Newcastle and this place was beyond my expectations. We actually came for my husbands birthday coz he loves Asian cuisine, definitely this place impressed him. In fact, the portion was sooo big which we couldn’t complete so decided to take home. It is absolutely mind blowing experience and it reminds my home 😢🥺

This is perfect. Salik makes masala chai tea that is amazing my new favourite drink and all the food tastes amazing. I have been twice in the last few weeks, and I won't stop there. Would recommend very much to anyone who likes very good food

I often visit Khan's with friends for a relaxed evening meal. The service is just great, and the waiters know us by name. Their new menu has some delicious flavours, particularly the marinated tandori recipes. Their pashwari nan is a must with every meal. It's great value too, and we like being there as we are treated like family..

It wasn't bad I just found the curry bland and they hadn't brought my pineapple juice I had bought.

Absolutely delicious! Tried some different things, which is always a risk. The Paneer special Sabzi Karahi was great - really good choice for vegetarians. The spicy chips were just that. Really happy with my choices. Also, a really cheerful delivery driver 🙂

Arrived on time but was cold, the portion of curry sauce was terrible. My previous meal was a chicken madras and was very sweet yet I couldn’t fault my order before must depend on the chef who knows. That’s the last order from here.

This is probably one of the best curries I have eaten. Happily travel to come to this place. The food is amazing and the staff are fantastic; so friendly and welcoming, and the mango lassi is something else. Best curry in Newcastle, hands down.
