Amazing food and service. Highly recommend

I was disappointed that all the dishes were mostly onion rather than onion being a foundation or base for the other flavours I would have expected in each dish.

Exceptionally friendly staff and excellent food. Highly recommend this place. Great choice of dishes and decent portion sizes. We will definitely be going back.

Absolutely incredible. Booked a table of 5 for a belated birthday do and have never been more satisfied at the end of a meal. Excellent service and phenomenal food in a unique and pleasantly decorated venue. I had the minced beef chapati roll for a starter which was lovely; it was juicy and just the right amount of spicy, and the lamb tikka masala with keema pilau rice as a main (not particularly adventurous, but a reliable favourite) and don’t think I’ll be able to go back to my local takeaway, because it was the best curry I’ve ever eaten. On top of that, the peshwari naan was sublime. So sweet and contrasted very well with the flavour of the curry. Frankly, the quality of food you get for how affordable it is is outrageously good. I wasn’t able to get the names of the lovely gentlemen and lady who served us but everyone was friendly and made us feel well looked after. The food took a while to arrive but was clearly freshly prepared and well worth the wait - the only complaint I have is that there was no cheesecake available at the end of the night - but that just means I’ll have to go back, which I won’t be complaining about! 11/10

This is the 3rd visit for food at the Valley Junction and we have not been disappointed. The only problem you have is Parking - be aware of the signage as this can result in charges.

I went with friends for a birthday there was 8 of us. The food as always was amazing and the staff are so nice they made our night very special we all had the best night

Great experience. We were met at newcastle central station by a waiter from The Valley Junction, and escorted on the train to the restaurant. We were served drinks on the train, and also selected our meal. The food was excellent. We couldn't eat it all, and the staff would have happily boxed up what was left for us, but unfortunately we were going back to a hotel. The staff let us know when our train back was due, and escorted us to the train. Great evening out.

We have been to Valley Junction a number of times and we are never disappointed. Our last visit was exceptional. We always receive a warm welcome and the food is fantastic. The service is spot on. It won’t be long untill we visit again.

Had bad experience with the food chicken wasn’t cooked properly so we have been bad all weekend

Unique Indian restaurant near the old Jesmond station. Exceptionally friendly staff with very prompt service. The menu is vast and the sides in particular were a standout especially the lemon rice. At first I was concerned the portions were a little small but we left almost perfectly full and payed a very reasonable price. Definitely somewhere I would recommend to anyone in town or staging in Jesmond.

I do not recommend this place if you value the time you have left on the planet as most of it unfortunately will be spent waiting for your starters. I do not know if they have to kill the chickens in India before they arrive here but it is simply ludicrous the time I spent in the seat without eating. I was almost becoming a petrified part of the wooden seat by the time I got my food. Will not be coming back for fear by the time I get my food I won’t be here to eat it.

Good selection of dishes but disappointed with quality of the biryani although the prawns were excellent.

Great place hidden away just off the busy dual carriage way ...if you go towards the metro there's an underpass takes you straight to the Restaurant also a great pub called the Carriage. Great food, looked after by the staff especially had great conversation with the owners son such a nice guy great to speak to advised on all the local goings on etc. The restaurant is in like a train carriage quirky but lovely and atmospheric lovely dining experience, food is up there with nicest I've had really nice. Overall a great evening ..thank you all xx

This was our first time here, it was beautifully designed, the service was exceptional, especially Tom who nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be going back, the duck speciality was the nicest dish I’ve had in a while. Couldn’t recommend more.

Went for a meal at Valley Junction and it exceeded expectations. Food, atmosphere, and service all scored a perfect 10. Our waiter, Naeeb, was exceptionally welcoming and helped me choose the special bhuna ghost, which was phenomenal. Enjoyed catching up with friends in a flawless environment. Will definitely return soon.

Absolutely loved our dinner date here, the train theme made us feel cosy and nostalgic. Good food and even better service, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Must try if you are looking for a special place to celebrate your date night. For dessert, the Orange Sorbet is highly recommended.

We booked here for a wedding anniversary, my wife thinking it would be nice to have a meal on a train carriage, I have to say it's not what it shows on the tin, we were marched up to a conservatory section and shown to our table where we ordered drinks then food, it took about half hour for the food order to be taken , it was busy so we took this into consideration . When the food arrived it was well presented and nice portion size , service was sort of ok , a bit erratic with 4 different staff members attending. It's priced a little higher than some others I've been in but I am guessing your paying for the privalage of having food on train carriages......or not.

Food was lovely, however although the restaurant was very quiet we were 90 minutes in and our starter plates were still to be collected, had to rush our main which spoiled the experience. The table next to us with 3 doctors seemed to be looked after far better, also pricey

The food from this place is some of the best I have ever ate outstanding food, however there service is absolutely shocking shocking to the point we paid for the meal and just left I would expect this service at the local McDonald’s but tbh McDonald’s staff probably treat you better than this place do absolutely diabolical service for this reason I’d highly recommend going elsewhere unless you like terrible service

Fantastic!!! I love my food and this was one of the best curry's I've ever tasted! Miles better than any other restaurant in the north east!! The Pasanda was gorgeous. The waiters all so nice and attentive. Atmosphere lovely. My waiter was quite a gent . Will come back for more xxx

3 of us booked a table, 1st time here after a recommendation, shown to our table, place was half full, few people leave and owner puts us onto another table in the corner out of the way, maybe he's thinking as we were all bald that we were going to be loud?? Messy?? Who knows?? Order pomps and a pickle tray, can never get that wrong, pomps good, pickle tray very standard, order lamb chops to start, chops good, not much meat but nevertheless very nice with a charr, my main was a chicken tikka pathia, pathia was rubbish, probably one of the worst I have had in 20 years, the chicken wasn't tikka, probably thinking because I'm bald and had a few pints I wouldn't notice in the sauce that covered it, the sauce, very rich and basically a tomato dish, no heat or a flavour of sweet and sour that a pathia should be, slop, thrown into a white cheap bowl from ikea, presentation awful, also we had to ask for serviettes, simple things like this annoyed me especially when this restaurant is on the expensive side for an Indian, the vibe from the staff was basically who cares?? Three bald lads thrown into the corner, my rice and naan saved this review from a 1 star as I enjoyed the fluffy rice and soft naan, in my company my freinds said food was very average, we won't be returning.

We used to eat here regularly but went elsewhere for a change ages ago. As it was our 20th wedding anniversary we decided to go back on Saturday. Some of the staff remembered us which was lovely but once we were shown to our table it went rapidly down hill. The table wasn't set before we sat down, service was very slow and was very hard to get the attention of staff to get drinks, place order as they were busy rushing around but not achieving much. Eventually got our food which was nice but no nicer than other places. I asked for another drink when main course came but it never arrived and by the time I managed to get their attention we had almost finished the main course. When it came to pay they tried to tell us we had the drink that we didn't which, once I explained what had happened, felt I wasn't believed. Meal was very expensive in comparison to other places. Won't be returning.

Table for 8, all ordered poppadoms, pickles, starters, mains, rice, shared naan breads and sides. All food tasted great, we did think the servings were small. Average prices. Service was slow and a bit hap hazard hence 4 stars. Out of the 8, none of us said we would return.

I have had one of the best Indian meals ever, and I have had plenty from all over. I called on the off chance and wasn't disappointed. I had the best pickle tray ever (see photo) and then followed with a Chickpea dish. Not that I am vegetarian, but I just wanted something different to try. I wasn't disappointed at all. I will definitely be returning when I am next in Newcastle. However, saying all that the price of a pint of soda and lime was over the top at £4:00 for a pint 😲.

Came here last night with my mam,food and service was excellent will definitely be back in the near future.

We haven’t been to this restaurant in quite some time and it certainly didn’t Let itself down. Unique as this Indian restaurant is in a train carriage & signal box. We were quickly shown to our table upstairs and drinks were ordered, perfectly chilled Pinot for the girls and a draft pint of cobra for him.. starters ordered and no one was disappointed when they arrived, 2 bhuna prawn on purée and 1 spicy stuffed green pepper. A decent gap between courses and mains were delivered, on jalfrezi and 2 lamb palaks with onion pelau and peshwari & garlic Nan all absolutely delicious. After more drink and a nice break we decided on a pudding, 1 mango kulfi, 1 lemon cheese cake & 1 sticky toffee pudding, followed by 3 liquor coffees. We could not fault this restaurant and will return sooner than later.

Really pretty venue with very attentive, charming staff. Really wide, interesting menu. Our group got a range of food covering all sorts of spice levels and carnivorism and all left very content. Can't wait to come back

Just had a lovely dinner here. The quality of the food is excellent! So much flavour! The rice is fluffy the curry tasted delicious. It wasn’t unhealthily greasing and tasted really authentic. No cheap alternatives. Just the perfect meal. They were also so kind, I asked to bring home some leftover curry. They came out with a box and they’d added some extra rice to go with it without asking. Excellent customer service. You really feel like they care.

Fantastic evening in qhat i can only describe as one of rhe best indian meals we ve had. We had a great experience here the menu had so many dishes we hadn't seen on an indian restaurants menu as well as all the usual ones...very al a carte

Certainly not what it once was. Perfectly friendly staff but mistakes on orders kind of undermined that. What was the real problem was the food was really average at best. Could have been any generic takeaway. The atmosphere was interestingly supplemented by fancy dress stag dos being allowed in.....if it was somewhere for a cheap an cheerful meal that would be fine but sells itself as more. With all the options it's certainly not somewhere to rush back to

Lovely place for Indian food . The options are varied and you multiple veg /non veg options . You can choose from curry bases to tandoori . Wide range of veg and non veg starters . Really a lovely find and would come back again :)

First visited this over 30 years ago. Meal last night was pretty dull. I asked for Chicken Tikka main course and no way was this cooked fresh in a Tandoor, and I have been eating Indian food for 50 years world wide. Poor presentation and little taste.

Good food and ambience. Staff were friendly: Slow service, unfortunately. We waited an hour from and a half from ordering just to get our starters. The mains, however, came a lot quicker. I’ll go here again and see how it is next time

First time visiting here whilst in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, this place was recommended by a family member who uses it frequently and spoke highly of the quality of the food and service. It's located in what appears to be a railway carriage attached to a building, very interesting layout! I only called in to get a takeaway so didn't get to experience the full dining atmosphere. Food was VERY good! The gentleman who welcomed me and another who brought my food to me were both pleasant and friendly. Definitely worth a try, and reasonably priced too.

Just been tonight absolutely fantastic night. Fantastic food and atmosphere never have I ever seen such a bunch of hard working well groomed staff they were all absolutely immaculate their standards were well above that of British Airways cabin crew. Whoever the management is there they certainly have it right I just hope the staff there get the praise they deserve they are all outstanding. I'm at firm believer of starting at the bottom of the pyramid not the top the staff certainly made that restaurant tonight and the management should be proud. What a lovely bunch of people I will certainly visit again x

We went for dinner and had an average experience, although our hopes were high. Food was average (lack of authenticity of Indian taste) and service was a bit slow.
