Fantastic food and great service. A gem of a restaurant with new owners, will definitely be back next time we are in Newcastle.

Great food tucked away just off the quayside. Had the beef pepper Sri Lankan curry and it did not disappoint. Friendly staff, very reasonably priced.

We went for lunch in the Grainger market. The food was delicious I have not had anything like this before. I had egg and veg Koththu with extra cheese. The food was very fresh.

Delicious food and great service, HOWEVER, the service charge goes to the management and not the staff! Recommend that you ask them remove it. Last night was my second visit, this time for a business meal. Portions were a good size, the tandoori lamb chops were pink, and overall it was another great experience. Very glad that I checked on the service charge before I paid the bill, as I’m not going to pay additionally if this is not passed onto the staff. Please change this Ury management! Will definitely be back next time I’m in Newcastle.

What a chance discovery. We found Ury when looking for another restaurant and what a find. Our meal.was first class, well.cooked and so tasty. A great place to eat.

We were delighted to return to Ury. I had the Sri Lankan crab curry. It was terrific, not at all standard fare: fresh, subtle, rich and satisfying. The food in general is very good quality, aromatic and light. My wife's Sri Lankan sea bass in banana leaves starter was superb: very flavourful and unusual. The service is friendly but unobtrusive. We appreciate the host's pride in the food and willingness to make recommendations. Ury is a good place for a family meal, relaxing and in elegant premises on Quayside. We will certainly return. My only reservation was that I enjoyed the Indian (Sri Lankan?) music last time we visited and would be pleased to hear it again in future. Thank you for an excellent meal.

We originally looked at the restaurant next door which had no spaces so came here for dinner and was not disappointed. Great service, delicious food and waiters knew their menu and what to suggest. We had mixed platter starters, hoppers, aubergine, egg roti, roasted beef. Good parking nearby. We don't have Sri Lankan restaurants near us so enjoyed our time.

We tried URY Restaurant in Newcastle during Restaurant Week and loved the affordable and delicious Indian dishes. Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys Asian flavors. A must-visit during your trip! 👌

We had a great time at Ury Restuarent during Restaurant Week. The place was calm and clean, and the staff was really friendly. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. I highly recommend it!

Booked for restaurant week as have never been so was keen to try it out. Menu looked nice so was looking forward to it. Arrived at restaurant, woman showed us the choice of places to sit and as we sat down another waiter came over and asked for the reservation name. Picked what we wanted and asked if we could add a small plate as well but the waiter didn't seem to understand what we wanted. He said he'd check but never came back to see what we wanted. As we were eating the poppadoms he came over with a plate of prawns and something else, which we hadn't asked for. He'd evidently just picked a small plate rather than ask. Food then arrived and I was surprised at the portion sizes as they were smaller than usual restaurants. The coconut chicken was lovely however the Sri Lankan lamb was a bit under whelming. The lamb had been cooked well but the sauce lacked depth and was more like a gravy. The lentil side dish was bland and was more like mushy peas. The other side dish was just chick peas, potatoes and spinach and was o.k but nothing exciting. The paratha I didn't enjoy as it was greasy and was too tough to cut, it pulled apart o.k but as was greasy it wasn't pleasant. We didn't opt for the choice with dessert which I'm glad about as when I went to the toilet there was a room opposite where you could see all the desserts had been plated up ready to be taken up as and when needed. Additionally I saw the waitress disappear with a large plastic bin and when she returned it was full of poppadoms, which was very off putting. All in all I was very underwhelmed with the experience and wouldn't return or recommend. It wasn't worth the money for the quality or portion size. Restaurant week for me is a chance to try new places and as such I expect restaurants to still put of the same quality food as normal but it didn't feel like that was the case here.

Ordered a meal and a rice dish the madras was bearly warm it seemed as if it was cooked then left in kitchen for a while and then served. Please can manager explain why they don't bring the food out hot as soon as it is cooked ? Please explain why ? It's very obvious as it was just warm and nearly cold when it was served to the table. Me and my wife ordered 2 dishes and they both came cold We were the only people in the restaurant Why can't they bring the food hot ? It must of been cooked then left in the kitchen for 20 minutes then served ? Why are you doing this ? You silly waiter.. We asked waiter for a jug of water for the table and he never brought it. There was nobody else in Why can't you bring the water ? What is wrong with you? Also it was very expensive The rice dishes are over £5 and they add service charge. We won't be going back.

Very unique Indian with delicious food. They have a selection of Indian beers on draft and the staff are very friendly with great service. They recommended that I shouldn’t order a nan bread with the dish that I ordered, and they were right! Shows they don’t need to sell sell sell and are prioritising customer experience!

This is an elegant and spacious restaurant, in a fabulous location, with friendly and dignified staff, serving Sri Lankan and Keralan cuisine (one chef for each). The food is delicious and different from standard menus. We had a lovely evening with our son and his girlfriend. The meal was unrushed and relaxing and we could talk in a pleasantly quiet atmosphere: quite amazing since it's right on the Quayside. I would recommend asking for recommendations from the knowledgeable and informative host - I greatly enjoyed the Sri Lankan beef curry which he recommended to me. We went last time we visited Newcastle and we will certainly be back!

Had a great meal at Ury....starters, main and sides were excellent. Service was friendly and ensured that, where required, gluten free food was provided. Would definitely return next time we are in North East.

I dined here last night with a group of colleagues and the food was the best I have had for a long time. A quiet place, not full but I could see that all tables were enjoying their food. I love seafood and this is the best place to enjoy spicy Calamari, Prawns Crab etc. Some of the group ordered the meat variations and they loved the Lamb Bhuna the best with the Butter Naan. The man who served was very polite chatty gentlemen who looked after us very well. He said that he an expert mixologist (making great cocktails for laymen like me 😊 I fully recommend curry savvy people to visit URY for a good curry experience.

As a regular to business travel one gets quite fussy on the one decent meal of the day, and dining regularly across the length and breath of the UK expectations are always high. The dinner this evening ticked all the right boxes, friendly service although the lad was on his own on a pretty busy evening. Both my starter and Mains were well presented and authentic in taste. A thumbs up from me.

Not The Best . We only visited as Khai Khai were full & had no tables & this place was nearby . Went in no one in at all totally empty , not a good sign at all . Staff attentive, decor nice . We ordered a bottle of Pinot Grigio & popadoms & pickles . Quite expensive & not included like most places & poor really not what we are used to . Starters & mains rice & nan . Food a let down really . Paid & left , no thanks for your custom , no little aperitif nothing , not even a after ate mint . No wonder it was empty . We will not return . Avoid 👎🏼

The food was ok but overall experience was a bit disappointing. Table wobbled (enough to tip drinks), couple of dishes were served luke warm/cold, once busier server became invisible - no check on whether our meals were ok, check for more drinks, water not served when asked for etc. These are all pretty basic things to get right.

One of the best restaurants in Newcastle Upon Tyne, this is an awesome place to dine in with family and friends. It offers wide variety of delicious foods. The staff’s behaviour is exemplary. I highly recommend it to those who want to dine in with family and friends.

This is not an Indian restaurant, the menu is pitiful with only a couple of basic curries on, when asking for madras or bhuna that wasn’t on the menu they struggled to know how it was made, also Chips came from pizza shop across the road via who I thing was one of the wives, no atmosphere and charging high end boutique restaurant prices. Do yourself a favour and go home hungry rather that eat there, you will thank me.

The food is really bland - we've lived in India for several years and have NEVER eaten food this tasteless. We had mostly vegetarian dishes and they were just vegetables and dairy cream. The servings of rice were stingy for the price. The waiting staff were really nice but we were so disappointed with the food. The food took 40 minutes to arrive and the restaurant was empty (one other group of customers) and underheated. I'm sorry to say that we wouldn't come back.

Watery slop best characterizes all of the dishes. Rice brought out and allowed to go cold before rest of food arrived. Complete joke. Stay away.

Wonderful food as usual! This is a definite for us when we visit Newcastle. Tasty and to a high standard. Bhashana and Rukman looked after us and the service was friendly and extremely polite. Thank you guys! One tiny little negative was that the plates were cold so it meant the food went cold quickly on the plates so we just put out a little at a time. Went to the inauguration of the Sunday buffet; an array of original tasting spicy curries, crab, chicken, tuna and a range of vegetables chutneys and egg hoppas fried freshly to order and a delightful desert. Refreshingly unusual and delicious with very good value wine.

Attentive and friendly service and some of the tastiest Indian food I’ve ever had. Excellent selection of vegetarian options and the popadoms and pickle tray were unusual and exceptional. Everything was well flavoured, nicely spiced and beautifully presented. Great value for money.
