We visited as a group in the week for the first time since refurbishment. The decor has certainly had an uplift and the restaurant has a modern and original vibe. The food was good, portions were generous and the menu has all the classics and some ingenious dishes with an Indian twist. Everything was cooked and served very promptly and the flavours were good. The presentation was exceptional, added to the upmarket ambience and was a step above your average curry house. What really made the Sunar Gow special, though, was the service and the staff: particularly Rahim and Mo. They were welcoming and friendly and went out of their way to proudly explain the meaning behind the restaurant name and ensure we had what we needed, from drinks to table space, and we were enjoying our meal. When a minor error was made with the order they were quick to waive the charge for an extra dish and even tailored an off menu request for one of our party. They were attentive without being intrusive and genuinely friendly and engaging. Overall a very pleasant experience and everything felt a bit more special than a standard curry house!

We were really looking forward to trying this takeaway and were so disappointed by the food when it arrived. The chicken, lamb and dansack curry’s all tasted the same, had no spice, flavour or seasoning which were stated in the descriptions, would not recommend these and super overpriced for the small amount of portions you get. Kormas tasted really sweet and texture was like water. You only get 6 pieces of diced meat per curry and the rest is sauce. Your free poppadom and mango chutney is only 1 poppadom. Would not recommend this place to anyone. Please check reviews properly before ordering as we definitely got caught off guard. This is not real Indian food, I’m not Indian and I make better curry’s myself.

First visit with a group of 22 on a week day evening. Firstly the welcome was very warm and the staff very helpful. I’m gluten free and had no problem ordering with lots of choices. Can particularly recommend the onion bahjis which were delicious and very fresh. The service was very organised for such a large group and all the meals came out at the same time. Top up drinks orders were also checked regularly. I can recommend this independently run family business. Will definitely be returning

Absolutely brilliant takeaway meal from this dine-in/takeaway restaurant! My (very fussy) other half said the rezala was the best tasting Indian dish he'd ever had! The meal was incredibly good value too, (£45) with more than enough to last us for two meals each. All dishes were excellent and the customer service was outstanding with a lovely, friendly, knowledgeable chap behind the counter. Fabulous, scrumptious food ..... our only regret about the experience being that we don't live in Louth (we were on holiday there - but we did freeze some to take home - very, very tasty even after being frozen).

We went in 2023. It was our wedding anniversary in July. My husband booked with the previous owners. But unfortunately For us the restaurant changed hands in between. However the new owners went above and beyond to actually open the restaurant for us to celebrate our wedding anniversary. How cool is that, they went above and beyond to honour their commitment. Food was fabulous and we had a great time. Thank you

We discovered this restaurant as a pub closer to the cottage we were staying in was not able to open. Can only say what a discovery! Fantastic food, friendly atmosphere & exceptional staff. The meal was a good price as well for what we had. The food was, without doubt, some of the best Indian food I have had anywhere. the Raita was definitely the best one I've had. The curries we ordered were perfect, the meat was plentiful and tender and the sauces were superb. The Naans & Tandoori Roti were spot on. The staff were friendly, helpful and were smiling the whole evening. Nothing was too much trouble and they went out of their way to make everyone feel special. My wife , mother and I all said we intend to return again in the future to repeat the experience. All in all, a restaurant worth making a trip to if you are in the area. If you don't try it, you are missing out on a great experience.

Been many times and always great food and service. What has happened, service poor, we had to ask to be served drinks, food bland and small portion's, salad consisted of cabbage one piece of tomato and one piece of cucumber. Most of the mains do not come with rice or chips now they are separate. When we came in we were greeted by cash only no card as internet down no phone lines, but the phone rang a few times, no little tipple after your meal to.
