First time visiting. Tikka Masala was okay but some pieces of chicken was very hard and seemed old and reheated. Our other dish was suppose to have e a king prawn in but we couldn’t find it, mentioned it but the waiter said Yes it’s in there. Pleasant staff but not over impressed with dishes. Both suffered with indigestion throughout the night.

As a stranger in a strange land, taking pot luck on a local cafe is a daily experience. Having found a brochure for Ve Raj at the back of a drawer in our rental cottage we thought let’s risk it. This is a top eatery. Indian cuisine with real class. Subtle flavours rather than “smash your palate “ stuff. Unusual blendings and textures. Well presented meals in a stylish space with an obviously proud mine host. Summary : A crawl over broken glass restaurant.

After having given this place a "rest " for a while, we've now returned, and we're so glad we have ! We've now been in twice in the last couple of weeks and the food is fantastic. Easily No.1 in Brackley at the moment. This last visit we had an amazing Bhuna and an equally good Jalfrezi, Staff were great, atmosphere was superb ! We'll be in there again before too long. Thanks guys.

I ordered 1 chicken phal. Lemon rice. Onion bhajis. Chapatis. Chips. It was not a phal that I asked for and very very watery. Rice was normal pilau with a bit of pickled lemon added. Onion bhajis were so salty I only had 1 bite. Chapatis were nice. Fries were nice. Lady on the phone that took my order was lovely. Very very disappointed as I've ordered from zaika for the last 4 years and never really had a problem apart from a couple of occasions when the curry was a little watery but this time round it was horrendous. Do I order from them again.? I don't know, I won't waste my money on sub standard food, it's as simple as that.. Come on zaika, I know you are better than this. !!!

A wonderful place in the heart of Buxton. The staff are super friendly which really helps. The menu is very clever with lots of innovative options including a children's menu. This business really stands out in Buxton and is well worth a visit. Highly recommended. Keep up the good work.

Being from much further south and not having a clue about Retford we thought we’d give Amir’s a go. Friendly staff, very attentive. The food was really good. I had the Retford Korahi Jalfrezi with beef. In all honesty I was expecting the beef to be on the tough side but it was so soft, tender and tasty. My husband had the mixed Balti which was also tasty. Not very expensive compared to what we’re used to. Would definitely visit again.

This remains the best Indian restaurant in the area. I’ve been going for 30 years, and whilst I have tried a few of others (one time each) I have never found anything as good as Helal. We had visitors over from Europe in December, who enjoyed it so much, we ended up going twice in during their 10-day visit. The food is amazing and the staff are fun and friendly too.
