Hussain was an absolute star, couldn't do enough for us. Was walking nearby, the smell of the cuisine, could not be ignored. Food is first class, menu choices epic, wine very well priced too. Can't wait to come back, brilliant all round!

Over a decade of use and never had a bad curry. Atmosphere inside the restaurant is beautiful and they give such amazing service, also a fan of their delivery, just as delicious always fast to arrive and piping hot. Recommend 100%

Fantastic service, with even better food. It’s pretty rare to find a curry house which puts the same amount of care into the veggie options for an English market as the kitchen here did. Would absolutely recommend the Chana Masala, beautiful chickpea curry - as good as I’ve had anywhere on Brick Lane or Rusholme.

First ever delivered takeaway and it wasn’t bad. Would deffo use again particularly if you can’t be bothered to eat in or pick it up 🤔👍

If it's not on the menu, they'll put it on, just for you! Quite possibly the best food and service in town. Having been an avid supporter of the more expensive establishments in town "I took a risk" yet I'd never look back.

Our first choice for an Asian meal out in Oakham, a regular for us since they first started in Oakham. Hussein manages everything very smoothly. The chef produces consistently high standard of dishes.

Excellent Indian restaurant, with a choice of another 4 to visit in thus town, we never seem to stray elsewhere as the food is so good, clean and tasty, presented well We tend to mostly have takeaways and it's always been very good, lots of quality dishes to choose from and the staff are friendly and helpful and go the extra mile to ensure you are satisfied

Food was great and the place was very nice with a romantic atmosphere. I enjoyed the background Hindi music. We ordered the Chicken Tikka Biryani and Butter Naan with Butter Chicken, and they were so nice. We were offered some poppadoms as complementary and they were nice

It's the first time we have eaten at Red India and we had an excellent meal. The food was delicious, the portions were enormous and the service was excellent. We will certainly be returning to try some more of the dishes from the extensive menu.

Ordered as a takeaway. The only way up describe the food is BLAND. Neither of us like very hot curries but there was no flavour to the sauces at all. In fact we had to add salt & pepper something we never do on curries and rarely on other foods - mains - lamb karai & chicken Kashmir. Keema naan had no meat and paneer side also flavour less. A real disappointment and will not be going again. £42 for two so Not cheap either.

Yes we ate there last night and absolutely loved it. The place was clean and tidy, the service first class and the food magnificent. What's not to like!

VEGANS BEWARE! I ordered the vegan chilli mix and they put in paneer which is a dairy product. When I called the restaurant the waiter tried to deny it at first by claiming that it's not paneer it's potato! After a while he eventually admitted it was in fact paneer but the chef was going by the old menu.

Me & my wife came for our 13th wedding anniversary which was actually today as I write this. Excellent selection of food & great selection of wine & puddings! Excellent service Hussain offered friendly service & friendly conversation! Happened across as staying briefly locally. Small but great atmosphere, service and food. Menu offered classics and variations favoured by (and named after) locals. Recommend and would visit again if in the area

Ended up here by mistake, having ordered online to collect at my local restaurant only to be told on arrival that they had no website and no order from me, I needed to go to the Oakham branch instead! I was not best pleased, but when I rang this place instead, they were very helpful, explained the mix-up (which happens a lot apparently!) and gave me some complimentary side orders to make up for the inconvenience. And it was one of the tastiest curries I have ever had. Definitely going back!

We were looking for somewhere open on a monday evening as staying in the area and got recommended the Red Indian. It certainly didnt disappoint, the service was very good and the food was lovely. Some of the best onion bhajis and naan I have ever had. Thanks to Hussain for serving us and the friendly chat definitely 10 out of 10

Delicious! Our favourite Indian restaurant. Went with a group of friends and the food is so fresh and delicious. The starters and mains were all superb. Friendly waiter and now have a drinks licence. Love this place, it’s the best for miles.

Tasteless curry, worst naan bread i have ever had, over charged by £3.50 as never got half of certain part of order. Never will i order from here again as i rang to see where part of order was but the guy who picked the phone up couldnt speak a word of english so i just said dont worry about it. I will never order from here again sorry to say because i paid £38 for this. On the plus side the pilau rice was nice and the delivery driver was pleasant. Good luck.

Where to start... We've been going to Red India (Oakham) for over 10 years. This restaurant is amazing! But I'll share more of our experiences. Really amazing, attentive and friendly staff. The food really is the "real deal" for Indian / Asian cuisine. Standouts for us is the Rogan Josh, Korma, Goan Chicken, Lamb Tawa, Magnificent Seven and the recent addition, Gunpowder Masala. Not to exclude King Prawn and White Fish dishes too!! Please, please, please support this amazing business. We've had friends and family, frenemies even (lol) dine here. What really stands out is the consistency with the food and service. If you're reading this review - Tell them Eshan & Suzy told you to eat there! ENJOY!

We visit the area every year and Red India is consistently delicious as our Saturday night take away. This year no exception. Delicious as always. We stay 5 or so miles out of Oakham and the food was hot on arrival and delivered to time....

Ate here while staying nearby. Quirky menu with a number of dishes named after customers - my partner and I chose different lamb dishes , both of which were delicious and the side dishes were good too - naan very light and fluffy and portions...

Food was delivered to our holiday home. It was of excellent taste and there was plenty of it. I would recommend it. Also the man who delivered it was very kind.

Paid £4.50 for two samosas to arrive in the delivery. I called them up to ask if this was a mistake and they said it wasn't. That's £2.25 per mediocre samosa. The most insane prices I've ever heard of for any food outside of London or Michelin star restaurants. Stick with the curries and order nothing else if u must.

First time we have tried Red India, and we were not disappointed. I was looking for a Indian that delivered and this place was recommended by a friend. The food arrived nice and hot. The flavours of the food were really good and not small portions. I would definately recommend and will certainly be ordering again soon.

This is our favourite restaurant in Oakham. Always accommodating, and take aways are just as good. Chicken tikka dhansak and garlic chilli paneer/veggie are to die for. Our eldest loves the tarka dhal. You can now pay for takeaways online with a credit card.

As others have stated it is cash only and if you like a drink then it is a case of bring your own alcohol and this is really a good thing as you can bring exactly what you like.On first impressions the interior looks like a throwback to the 70’s but do not let this put you off! The menu has a wide range of different dishes with quirky names, named after customers favourite dishes like “Graeme’s green curry” and the dishes are well described.This is the dish that I ordered. The combination of ingredients and flavour was absolutely great with a contrast between the chillies and tamarind. It is by far the best dish I have had for years and I eat a lot of curries!They also do a wide range of vegetarian and vegan meals which was good for two of our party.As for the staff they were spot on very friendly and polite, especially Hussain.The food is also reasonably priced so I thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

Staying at Greendale campsite and fancied a curry, we opted for delivery, food was absolutely delicious, would definitely order again if we return to this area.

The food and service is outstanding good. Great value. Take your own wine. We have been using this restaurant since it opened 14 years ago and we have never been disappointed.

Popped in here after a day walking round Rutland Water & needing an evening meal. Friendly, welcoming staff and good service. The menu was extensive and the food was delicious. No bar, although the staff did tell me where I could buy alcohol to bring in.

Been ages since we have been out due to COVID and this was the first place on our list. As always, the food was fantastic and the reception was great. Lots not new dishes as well as our old favourites and we loved them all. Well done to all the team for getting through the difficult COVID times and coming back as great as ever !

Best & most varied menu I have ever seen in an Indian restaurant!! Loads of different dishes to suit all tastes, all with excellent descriptions of the ingredients. Food was absolutely delicious, served by lovely, friendly staff. Don't forget to take your own alcohol as unlicensed. Would thoroughly recommend.

Saliq and Hussain were excellent recommending our meals to us As it has no licence we could bring our own wine. We enjoyed Tawa lamb curry and Oakham crossing lamb curry Both were excellent. Very friendly staff One of our best indian meals ever Shame it us so far from Norwich.

We went here while staying at Langham and we were really impressed with the meal. The food was lovely and we were impressed that you could take your own beer and wine. The waiters were lovely and very helpful. Would highly recommend

My wife and I had a meal here last week and it was fantastic!We are both vegan and this restaurant catered really well for us. They have a vegan starters and main course menu which looked great. However, they create their traditional meals in such a way that they can easily be adapted for vegans.The food was delicious - best curry I have had for a long time.Also, they were very friendly. I don't know the name of the waiter, but he was brilliant - really enjoyed talking to him.The table beside us were definitely not vegan, but it was obvious that they were also finding the food superb.If and when we return to Oakham, we will definitely have at least one meal at the Red India.

Went to Red India restaurant and we couldn't have been made more welcome. It is a restaurant with no licence so BYO but a handy public house next door! Food was delicious and the service immaculate. PPE and covid advice followed to letter. We were the only customers having a sit down meal so no problems with social distancing!! Clearly popular with takeaways. Best naan bread ever, not greasy or heavy like some can be. Caters well for vegetarian and vegan.

Popped in for a meal tonight and very glad we did The quirky menu is dedicated to their regular customers favourite dishes in turn making you read them all , great when you are looking for something different I had the Whittaker’s Black sheep which was delicious , my hubby sticking to a traditional chicken tikka which was tasty and succulent . The garlic naan is probably the best I have tasted , light, fluffy, almost melting in my mouth The staff were attentive but not intrusive All in all a very pleasant meal , and certainly worth a visit if in Oakham

Came over, Saturday night at peak time when it was really packed. The food was fantastic, but service was much better. Front of the house waiters was amazing especially Tanhai with great customer service and fantastic personality would recommended this restaurant thanks to tanhai

Saw that it had vegan food on the menu so tried it. It was fantastic, great food friendly staff. Went back few days later and got a take away, that was the same high quality tasty food. It is cash only.

Just been for dinner here this evening. Welcomed like old friends by the staff as we walked in,even though it was my first visit. Our group of four adults and two teenage kids all agreed that it was one of the best curries we had had for a long time, even the popadoms got a mention! Looked after throughout our visit by friendly and unobtrusive staff who even provided a small birthday cake and candle for the birthday boy. Fresh, well cooked food, not the cheapest but great value for the quality and service. We would definitely recommend this restaurant.

My husband & I have eaten here many times with family, friends, & on our own, & are always astounded by the high quality & standards of the food every time, and the friendliness of the staff who ALWAYS greet you with a smile and a hand shake. A rare thing these days. Nothing is to much trouble. Just let the staff know what you like and they gladly adapt it for you if needed. You have to take your own drinks, but we love that because you only have to pay purely for the food. Most Restaurants charge through the nose for drinks. So you don’t have to here. You have to pay by cash but we think that’s a small price to pay for brilliant food. Thank you so much to ALL the staff for making our evenings feel special when ever we come to you for a meal. We went here last night. I'm gluten free and veggie so you can imagine eating out can be a challenge. Both the staff and menu were well informed with what was safe for me to eat (I loved the fact the menu tells you what has gluten in it so anything not labelled is GF). I had the Brinjal Bertha (also vegan) - an aubergine baked then cooked with spices giving it a real depth of flavour. It was fantastic! I forgot to take a picture it smelt and tasted so good!All reasonably priced, staff helpful and friendly. Friends had variety if meat dishes and all enjoyed these too.Would recommend particularly if you have dietary needs.

Early dinner at Red India was once again excellent. The new menu has some tasty specials and is very imaginative and different. My railway lamb was very tasty and Chana saag was super. All in all a very good meal.

This is great Indian cuisine. Apart from high quality usual offerings there is also a fabulous selection of tailor made dishes. My personal favourites are the Magnificent 7 and the newly created Richard’s swordfish dish. A recommendation for a starter would be anything with King Prawns which are very tasty. If in doubt ask Salick or Hussein for advice. Would highly recommend.

Very expensive compared to others, a pain having to provide your own drinks to save them the cost of an alcohol licence.

Had a lovely curry here with my partner. Service was fast and staff were welcoming. Great portion sizes - we had a curry dish each and then one rice and one naan to share. The flavours of the curries were lovely and we had contrasting types which both had fantastic flavours and weren't too hot (we didn't dare go over 2 chillis on their rating system). The only reason I have given it 4 stars is because I think that the puddings are overpriced and do not have the same high standard as the mains. Would go again for the main - just not for pudding!

We found this place on trip advisor with a lot of good comments and info about byo and cash payment. True to the comments about red India it is a great place. We were looked after well by the waiters from the start with the welcoming handshake. We like it Hot! So we were recommended the Gunpowder masala and the B*#** crossing. New year new curry! We had a great New Years treat while visiting the area. This restaurant has unique dishes like ‘Oakham Bastard Crossing’ which is a very good curry. It is a hot lamb dish. The service is very good too and you’re allowed to bring your own drinks. Take cash as they don’t do cards. My other half had the Vegan option and said it was great.

We booked in early as it was New Years Eve and boy were we right to do so! This place was very busy but we were seated quickly. We took our own drinks and the waiter served them out. Their menu was a laugh as the dishes are named after the locals! We were recommended a few dishes by Hussain our server and his choices were excellent. The dishes tasted magnificent as one of them was the magnificent 7. The others were Gordon’s tonic and Richard the 3rd a swordfish delight. All great tasting dishes. I recommend this place highly.
