Great place, always fab time. The food is great.

Had a few takeaways from here. Order my food and have a pint while I wait. Beer garden is lovely. Service is excellent and quality of food is exceptional.

I’ve had a takeaway from here a couple of times now, the food was great and the service was speedy and very friendly.

Takeaway Indian meal delivered. Complete waste of nearly £60. Disappointed would be an understatement. We have ordered from here lots of times before but tonight’s offering was atrocious to put it mildly. Everything was bland and tasteless. Difficult to tell the dishes apart by taste alone. It was meant to be a curry for Christ’s sake! The only heat was in the lamb samosas. The rest (3 different curry dishes ) were just meh! Bland and tasteless with not even a hint of spice.

Nice meal delivered a little after time but was all pretty much good. Only negative for me was the Peshwari Naan was bland seemed to be missing most of the Peshawar elements. As a plain naan it was ok.

This used to be a fantastic takeaway. The menu has changed, the website doesn’t work particularly well and the food was appalling. The dishes are all very brightly coloured but watery and tasteless. King Prawns rubbery and flavourless. Not a hint of herbs or spice. Such a shame, we used to really enjoy this place and recommend it to others but it’s only the name that hasn’t changed.

Staff are great but the food and delivery service are terrible. Our food arrived without the rice we ordered, the rice then arrived 50 minutes after the initial order!!! Food was cold & no refund offered. Given 2 poppadoms to say ‘sorry’. But no dips or anything, waste of money!

Looks like they got a new chef as the food was miles better few weeks ago. Used to be a regular but not anymore.

Ordered a large meal for 6 people for ourselves and our guests. We were not disappointed. The food arrived on time and still nice and hot. The dishes tasted amazing and we will def. be using them again.

Local pub local people not a bad place

Visited this place in search of authentic Indian taste and found best food so far in the UK, the staff were very polite and friendly. Will definitely visit again. Strongly recommend if you are looking for curry dishes

Absolutely disgusting customer service. The manager was rude, ignorant and showed an utter disregard to our concerns over the phone, after taking our money and not delivering our order. DO NOT USE. I will add, since the owner has lied in their response, that I can confirm I did not receive my order (animal crossing, or otherwise!) or receive any calls - I called them after my money was taken and order cancelled. I suppose it's difficult to keep track of all of your disappointed customers though when you are dealing with so many. Clearly they have confused me with another aggrieved customer.

First time ordering from their mobile app and it was great! Ordering system was seamless, food was lovely and arrived right on time. Also love the fact they are offering new customers a discount on their first order but also 15% on every 5th order! You must try this place

Really poor service lately, used to be excellent and have used for a number of years now, however the last 4 orders I have place have been accepted then received a phone call upto 1 hour later advising either no driver to deliver or food will be in excess of 2hours, such a shame that they’ve become so poor.

Yet another delicious take-away from the R Duke. Chicken Jalfrezi and Channa Masala were superb. Thank you.

Well what can I say. We ordered a delivery and as my husband cannot eat coriander we requested his Dopiaza without it. When it arrived it obviously had coriander so he could not eat it. Their website says to advise them of any problems so I contacted them. They offered to send another dish but we had already shared my Chicken Tikka Massala, which was delicious but unfortunately not to my husband's taste, so I advised The Royal Duke not to send it out as we had finished eating. I was then told if I should order again they would put twice the amount of coriander in the dish and put the phone down! We obviously will not use them again and would not recommend anyone else to use them

At first sight, The Royal Duke is a rather unprepossessing town centre pub, and half of it is. However, the other half is a small Indian Restaurant (more a café, in truth) serving authentic delicious food in remarkably generous quantities. All the usual Indian dishes are there, complemented by some more unusual delicacies. The Honey Chilli Chicken is an absolute delight and the Channa Masala is superb. Don't be put off by the exterior; you will not be disappointed.

Don't let the outside of the venue put you off. Kitchen is spotless. Had a takeaway upon friends recommendation. Honey chilli chicken was divine. Loads of meat and an explosion or flavour. Tarka dhall was the best of my life. We ordered that and some gorgeous nan bread. All scrumptious. Generous portions. Enough leftovers for lunch!

We are always amazed at both the service and the quality of the food we have, highly recommend everyone to try it. Oh, and the deliver time is super fast. The mixed grill is fantastic .

Wow! Just wow! Tonight was the 1st time we’ve ordered from here on a friends recommendation. It certainly won’t be the last. This has to be one of the best curry houses in Oakham. The food is authentic and extremely tasty. Not to mention it's very reasonably priced. When we get a takeout curry, we order from here every time! The pub staff are also super friendly, and there's a really nice local atmosphere here to be enjoyed!

This is the second time we have ordered from The Royal Duke, I have to say that I am very impressed. The food is delicious, we have enjoyed every dish and can't wait to try some more. It is one of the best curries I have ever eaten, the food is lovely and fresh, very flavoursome with just the right balance of spices. We have had the food delivered by Just Eat, it has arrived quickly and both times has been pipping hot.

Great food and fast delivery. Made a request that the butter chicken could be made "mild" instead of the usual "medium" spice for my children. They done just this, no complaints at all from the boys. Thank you! Never had a bad meal from here.

One of the best curries we’ve ever had. We have had a few meals from here and as yet have failed to be dissatisfied. I agree that sometimes the madras and vindaloo are hotter than most places but they are packed with flavour. Just order a mild version. The large mixed grill would feed an army. Okay it’s £20 but it would easily feed 8 as a starter. I order it and then eat what’s left over the next few days. The meat is so tender and the chicken tikka mixed into any curry is beautiful. Our favourite discovery is their mushroom rice. You’ve gotta try it. Anyway, glad we’ve found a really good place. Can’t wait till lockdown ends so we can go in person. Keep it up.

We had a take away this evening. All the food was so hot and spicy we couldn’t eat it. Hubby had a chicken tikka madras which he has had twice before and was fine, tonight it was just too hot to eat . I had biriyani which I thought would be mild. My mouth was on fire after two mouthfuls I couldn’t eat any more. Disappointing.

This place is an absolute gem. The food is some of the best Indian cuisine you will fine (even in India) and it is very sensibly priced. I particularly enjoyed the Honey Chilli Chicken and the Channa Masala - and the Taka Dhal is superb....

Absolutely delicious food with friendly and helpful service. The saag paneer is amazing and Nilesh is so helpful and quick to change spice levels to suit different palates.

First time here tonight. Felt safe, all the PPE, very clean and sanitised with well spaced tables. My jalfrezi was fresh, tasty with the right amount of spice and yummy crunchy peppers. My son had prawn tawa and the amount of prawns (and the size of them) was insane. You must try their signature naan with almonds and honey. Amazing. Nilesh is a great host and the service was second to none. My new favourite Indian restaurant in Oakham. We will be back very soon.

The surroundings might be modest, but the food is excellent and the portions very generous! The menu has a degree of authenticity which many 'Indian' restaurant menus do not and is astonishingly good value.

The most important thing is that the food is incredible. I've now tried all the grills which are 10/10 and the chicken and kheema mix is to die for. I'd recommend every day of the week.
