The Leaf in South Kesteven

Like other restaurants the Leaf is only serving takeout food during lockdown but what a treat it is. We had poppadoms with pickles, Onion vada, Thoran ( cabbage option ) , Mushroom masala, Vegetable biriani , Parotta bread and Prawns in unripe mango curry. It was an absolute feast of flavours and textures . The food was freshly cooked to order and piping hot. An amazing one of a kind South Indian restaurant in Grantham which I am more than pleased to support in these difficult times for business .

Wow! Last minute choice on a Monday night as we had just arrived in Grantham to pick up our teenage grandchildren for a couple of days. Having been to the Kerala region over 25 years ago on a very regular basis this place is absolutely superb. Felt like I was there again!Quality 5*Ingredients 5*Flavours 5*Service 5*Wonderful and hopefully we can get back there again soon. If you want authentic and quality this is the place.

My husband and I loved the 3 course meal we had. The food was delicious and have already booked for next month and around Christmas. There was a lot to choose from and the food we chose was the tastiest we have had. The sea bass I had fell off the bone. My husbands chicken curry was exceptional too. Oh and the pudding.... let's leave it at that yum.

Walked past The Leaf lots of times and the smell has always been incredible and we finally arranged a meal Home made pickles were amazing to the point we wanted to take a jar home and the owner will call us when he makes the next batch so we can buy some for home ! Chicken stew was delightful as was the sea bass all the food had that fresh just made taste The deserts were too The staff were very attentive and friendly, felt like we were eating at home with friends Highly recommended a visit ! We will be back !

Visited The Leaf South Indian restaurant tonight and have to say how amazing the food was. So many unusual dishes which are very different to the usual Indian restaurant meals. They have their Christmas menus printed on paper place mats which we read while waiting for our food and look fantastic , we will be returning plenty of times before then though. I am vegan and my partner eats fish/shellfish and there is plenty of choices for us. Would not hesitate in recommending The Leaf for Couples, families with children or friends. Try it Nick

We tried a variety of dishes, absolutely incredible! Dishes to suit different palates, from the super spice to the creamy mild we are all leaving full and with smiles on our faces! Thanks to the staff for being excellent and patient with us!

Went for a birthday meal and both the food and the service were brilliant. They brought a birthday cake out after the beautiful meal free of charge which was a lovely added extra. Will 100% be recommending and returning. Overall Very happy

Six of us had our dinner last week, the food was outstanding.variety of menu ,lamb potato curry was amazing ,kerala red fish just take us a nostalgic memmories All of us enjoy the food and we never had a menu like this in grantham ,we will definitely come back and highly recommended.

I ate here at the weekend with a group of friends, and thought The Leaf was really good value for money. The food was great; very tasty and served really quickly.The restaurant is very small, so perfect for small informal gatherings.The staff did a great job of welcoming us and attending to our needs.The only downside is the toilet facility, which is accessed via an alleyway outside, due to the dimensions of the building. No real problem, just bring a coat.

Interesting menu, lots of choices. All food was freshly cooked and delicious. Definitely recommended. We will come again when we pass through Grantham.

Really good food and service. Try the Kerala red fish dish. It is excellent. All 4 of us had a lovely meal and the staff including the chef/owner couldn't do enough to ensure our enjoyment.The desserts are also much better (imho) than the usual Indian sweets.Go. You're sure to return. We will.

Went to The leaf for my Birthday Meal. The staff were very friendly and helpful. As far as the meal went we could not get any better in the area. it is The first time we have tried Southern Indian food cant wait to get back and try something different.

Table for 2, walk-in. Sat down to see the table on our left disgruntled by some aspect of their meal but gave them the benefit of the doubt. Ordered 2 meals, mine being the tandoori chicken. The food came and after two bites I realised the chicken was stone cold in the centre. The waiter took it back for me and I decided to finish my drink and not order anything further. I found out from the shouting and swearing in the kitchen which were easily audible that this was the second one that night, hence the table to the lefts complaints. My partner's food seemed to have been microwaved as it was hot on top and cool at the bottom. This chicken was prepared in the morning and then refrigerated, did not come hot or in a clay oven and I can only hope it doesn't leave my person in a projectile fashion. I did not pay for the chicken and probably shouldn't have paid for any part of the meal. The waiting staff were nice but you can't eat them, of course. Will not go back and I would not recommend it.

Visited here a couple of weeks ago with my husband whilst on holiday and we both agreed it the best Indian food we've eaten in the uk. Lots of things we have never tried before so it was a bit of a culinary adventure. Freshly prepared and tasty. Lots of seafood on the menu which we love.Quick and efficient service and the owner explained it was his wife who was in the kitchen that night who was responsible for our amazing food. We booked but was quite quiet when we were in so don't think this a necessity. They do take out too which is great. If we lived locally we would be regulars so if you're in the area it's a must if you like Indian food. Its not greasy, not sugary it is not upset my tummy ...it is healthy

We are the first people on the restaurant after opening for an early dinner and we were treat just as same as if it had been busy I'm sure. the service was excellent and the food was fresh, delicious, cooked to specification, and we were given so many off the menu options. I had a lovely fish dish which was sublime, and my partner had a hot lamb dish which was just as tasty as mine. The menu will not overwhelm you, like most places and the prices were incredibly reasonable, including beer and drinks prices. No greasy, its not sWeety like normal Indo_British greedy food it's very healthy. shall definitely visit again when we are up there. The owner and his front of house girl were very British greasy food knowledgeable and friendly and we learnt a lot whilst we were there also about the region he comes from and the ways he likes to cook. A gem in the Grantham, without a doubt!

Very nice food, it was authentic and they catered for all spice levels. The highlight was the crab fry (soft shell crab deep fried) and the red fish curry. The service was great- everyone was very friendly.

Had onam sadya from the restaurant. Excellent food and value for money. Staff were also very welcoming and hospitable.

Firstly, as a disabled person, getting up the steps was difficult as there is no handrail or anything (a side door was open on leaving which has a ramp).With regards to being co-vid secure, there is hand gel at the entrance and tables are adequately spaced out. However, the manager neither wore a mask nor visor. The food arrived quickly and was tasty. I had vegetable samosas to start which had a fresh, crisp outer and a mildly spicy vegetable inner. Very nice. For main I had the Kerala chicken stew and boiled rice. The stew was packed full of chicken. The sauce was good though I didn't pick upuch of a taste of coconut. To drink I had a mango and lime cider. Cost £18.95 though I have now realised that the 20% discount wasn't applied despite the fact that I had booked to done there. I left a tip, too! So if wou book in on Monday or Wednesday, check your receipts!!

2 bottles of wine, a bottle of beer 3 x coffees, desert and a non vegetarian tali for approx £70. Authentic food with stories of the owners mum cooking the same dishes using ingredients from her kitchen garden. We left with very full tummies.

Visited The Leaf Grantham for the first time last night, I would strongly recommend a visit. Had many Indian Meals however the flavours here were of the highest quality.The.Chef ( Rams Wife) knows how to mix fusions and flavours, everyone enjoyed their meal, from Chilli Paneer / Crispy Chilli Beef / Biriani / Chana Chicken Madras Strength.Very attentive service as well.Why not give it a go, you won’t be disappointed.

I've gone to the leaf a fair few times since it opened in Grantham. Always find myself met with smiling and friendly staff, paired with exceptionally delicious food. This time we went after being invited for the Onam festival, with 25 vegetarian dishes, served on a banana leaf, each having its own set of flavours and character. As ever, left full, smiling and content. We're lucky to have a place like this in Grantham, please visit if you can!

Great restaurant, something different from typical Indian restaurants in town. Quiet on a Friday due to eat out to help out earlier in the week. Son’s girlfriend wanted Korma and although it wasn’t on the menu they offered to cook it for her. Good prices and plenty of food. Hospitable and friendly restauranteur......worth trying for a change. Need to support the slightly different. Will be back soon.

Went for our first meal at this restaurant this week. Amazing menu - very authentic Indian cuisine with many dishes not normally seen at many establishments. Beautifully cooked and presented. Staff very friendly and helpful and we were treated with the utmost care. Highly recommend you trying. Incredible value as well.

We visited during our holiday in August 2020, which hasn’t been an easy year to head out and feel safe. However, I really can’t recommend The Leaf enough! From the minute we entered the restaurant, the service was Fantastic! All of the staff were friendly and attentive and were great with our children too. The food was absolutely fantastic! One of the nicest Indian meals I’ve had in years...once again they catered for all and the children loved their meals too. The chef even came out to ask us if we’d enjoyed our food and our evening; which we had! Thoroughly recommended!

We had dinner there last night and were seriously impressed. The owner was so kind and helpful and the place was spotless and comfortable. Handsanitiser was offered and all the menus were wiped down before and after handling. The poppadoms and starter crispy chicken were so fresh and delicious and arrived in no time as well as the potatoe filled Dosas. The latter were so light and beautifully arranged! We ordered King Prawn Mango and Fish Curry as mains as well as Dal and Spinach to accompany the food. All the dishes were generously portioned and you could taste all the spices without being overwhelmed. I have lived in South East Asia and this restaurant has seriously impressed me. None of the dishes were greasy or too salty. They melted in the mouth and the owner was on hand to serve but gave us lots of privacy. It felt like having a lovely home cooked meal by a knowledgeable chef (his wife). Very much a family affair which was nice to see. They worked so hard and nothing was too much. The icing on the cake was when I asked for a local dessert that wasn’t on the menu but I craved from my time in Asia and the owner was delighted to prepare it. It’s a sugared dosa cone (see photo), ask and they’ll make it for you. The taste of it took me back in time and place and brought back such happy memories of my years abroad. My partner and I shared it, you can tear strips off and have it in a group. Thank you so much to everyone in your restaurant, your restaurant is a gem!! Can‘t believe it’s on our doorstep. We will be returning soon!! 5 ⭐️

Restaurant was very, very busy which seemed to cause big delays with the service but once the food arrived, it was definitely worth the wait.

My boyfriend and I decided to try The Leaf as we thought we’d take advantage of the ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ deal and try somewhere new.Wow - we were not disappointed! The staff were really helpful and the food was stunning (especially the Duck Mappas!! Yum!!). Visited in the evening and were seated upstairs in the reconfigured layout. Very friendly staff and great chefs. The owner explains the dishes and is a great place for vegans and vegetarians to eat. We have booked up for a celebration feast evening on the 29th of August where food is served on banana leaves On the strength of our visit, the food was that good. I would recommend this unusual gem of a restaurant to families, couples and friends alike. Please visit, you won’t be disappointed and will become regulars

Another phenomenal evening at The Leaf, Grantham. The service here is second to non! The food is exquisite, the new refurbed front dining area is beautiful! I cannot rate this place highly enough!

It was the 2nd time I had food from the Leaf.Tried some of the seafood dishes which were authentic and tasty. Would definitely recommend to anyone.I wil be coming back for more.

Our takeaway for 5 people arrived (delivered) promptly, really hot (in temperature) and was so wonderfully tasty.We're very experienced in tasting all genres of spicy food and have to say that this is amongst the best we have ever tasted!The vegetarian side dishes were an especially lovely surprise eg the spinach daal and the green bean one.The bread (paratha-style) were a-maze-ing too.

Popped in here by chance on a Thursday night. Extensive seafood and vegetarian options. Food reminded me of my visits to Kerela. Staff friendly and service was quick. Prices reasonable. Good if you fancy Indian food but want something different from the normal Bangladeshi fare usually on offer.

The restaurant is in a small alley but don’t be frightened by the entrance. Boss and chef are from South Indian. The food there were amazingly delicious. I tried coconut rice, chilly beef and mango lasi. Waitress lady was nice and friendly. At the end of dinner, she gave us a plate of Indian sweet and wet wipes. Not a lot of customers on a Tuesday night, in fact we were the only customers there while we dining. It’s worth it to give it a go.这间印度餐厅深藏不露，窄窄的巷子里找到它的踪迹。老板与厨师均是印度人，相信这里的印度菜也是原汁原味的。我尝试了椰味米饭、青椒炒牛肉和芒果酸奶。服务员阿姨态度友善，用餐结束后，她给我们一盘印度糖粒，味道很是特别。周二晚上这里并没有很多客人，我们是唯一的一桌。值得一试！

As previously the food here did not disappoint. Dellcious starters of scallops and salmon, and the main courses (duck and vegetarian) were lovely too, always a little bit different from the same dishes elsewhere. The garlic naan is particularly nice! We got a mushroom masala to take away for our daughter, and she loved it.

The server was kind, and the food was delicious, I recommend the chicken tikka masala :)) The ambiance was very homely, with help from the small but cosy room, complimented with Indian culture decorations. I hope once you go there, you can very much agree with me.

Where to start? Food is sublime in this rather characterful, charming & quirky setting. So many dishes we've not discovered before; husband and I enjoyed it so much that we've booked for next week's Valentine's evening already!

The food was fresh and cooked in house, not from a jar. If you are daring enough to try the true taste of South Indian food then give The Leaf a try. It is like a cafe in India and well worth a visit.

Took my dad here for Xmas lunch and it was great. They made my dish extra spicy which was wonderful, excellent Keralan style curry with chicken on the bone. Rice was beautiful and the service was fantastic, definitely be coming back next time I'm in Grantham!

First visit to this authentic little Indian restaurant with my sister. We had 3 courses and a glass of wine each. The food was cooked fresh to order and was very tasty, the staff were very attentive and helped us to choose dishes that we would enjoy. Definitely worth a visit.

I'm an Englishman who has spent a few years in India for work. I came to really love Indian cooking. There are some good Indian and Nepali restaurants in Grantham, but this place seems to have the most authentic food. Atmosphere is good, Service is great, food is superb. I just keep coming back and will continue. Love it.

Despite being the only people in the restaurant (it was a cold foggy Tuesday in December!), the owner couldn't have been nicer, and even the chef waved from the kitchen. Service was second to none with the owner taking the time to explain some of the more unusual dishes.

Wow! Will most definitely be eating here again, very reasonable prices and extremely delicious food, And to top it off The staff were extremely courteous to All of our eating needs. 10/10 for price,10/10 for service and most importantly 10/10 for amazing food. KEEP IT UP THE LEAF :D

We also attempted to dine in this restaurant on Saturday 7th December and were sat amongst the previous two reviewers. We quickly realised there was a big problem with the service I believe the serving staff had just started working here? We did not get offered drinks before the poppadoms either, a member of staff actually came over and suggested we take our time on the menu choosing as they are very busy! The poppadoms were stale and clearly not freshly cooked. I had some questions about the menu and the waiter wasn't able to answer any at all he eventually had to get another member of staff to answer. This member of staff was abrupt and unfriendly simply stating "no that's only on Sunday lunch", no apologies or other suggestions for me he just walked off!

After being told how good this place was we had to check it out for ourselves and now we wish we hadn’t bothered.

We arrived for our 715 booking to be informed it was 730..despite confirming this on the telephone earlier.

Fantastic cosy venue. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was fantastic and authentic. A lovely varied thali with a mixture of meat and veg dishes. Good value for money and definitely felt full when we left. If you are looking for chicken tikka masala or korma go elsewhere theres plenty of other places. If you want authentic South Indian cuisine actually cooked and prepared by Indians that know what they're doing then go here! Thoroughly recommend.

I LOVE this place! Absolutely outstanding food! I went for dinner with my husband last night (his second time in a week) the food was very delicious! We ended up having 4 courses because we wanted to try as much as possible! We loved them so much that we have organised for them to do the food for our Yule party!!! The chap who owns the Leaf is lovely to talk to and really takes the time with customers! I already can’t wait to go back again! A wonderful atmosphere with stunning food! A truly winning combination!

My wife and I recently visited The Leaf restaurant for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Having not eaten at The Leaf previously we both opted for a fish thali, so that we could try a few different items. Each item that we ate was delicious, cooked perfectly, full of flavour and plentiful. We each received a starter, selection of dishes for the main and then three small desserts.

Great food with a brilliant gluten free service. We keep coming back! The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and the staff and service is amazing. C & A

Well I don’t write many reviews these days but this new Indian restaurant was exceptional, hence this review.

We went here for dinner last night with friends - our first time. What a great find! Beautifully spiced food, a nice range of different dishes (try the baby squid starter!), attentive and friendly staff and visits from the owner to explain the dishes and make recommendations if needed. Having market fresh daily specials was also a nice touch. I also tried the Indian dessert selection - some real treasures to be found there. A real treat to try some South Indian food - sets this place apart from other Indian restaurants in Grantham. To cap it all, the prices were very reasonable. Thanks to Ram and the team for a lovely evening.

Just the two of us for lunch, we visited after reading reviews on here. My partner used to work and live in an Indian Restuarant so we were eager to try something new here.

First visit to this restaurant but definitely not the last, there was 6 people in our party last night and everybody agreed that their food was fabulous. We all had different dishes and each was really good, top class Kerelan food. I will definitely go again.

My husband and I had a wonderful meal here. The food was fresh, tasty and well presents. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and the staff looked after us well, making sure we had everything we needed. Thank you for a brilliant meal!

Lovely Sunday lunch today for 4 at the new South Indian (Keralan) restaurant in Grantham. A great find. Was going to Grantham anyway and wanted a family meal before dropping son off at the train station. It was an excellent choice. Owner was very positive and knowledgeable about providing vegan food. We opted for 2 vegan and 2 non-vegan thalis. 4 courses with free top-ups for only £11 and £15 each. Excellent value, healthy, delicious and different. Included lovely vegan pancakes. Lots of tasty small dishes kept arriving and we loved the variety, ordering more of our favourites, which were 2 of the mixed veg curries. Lots of drinks choices too,including a long wine list for a small restaurant. Very friendly staff, good ambiance, interesting decor. Includes outdoor eating areas and an upstairs function room. Will definitely go again.

A fantastic place to eat. This is the only place we’ve found Kingfish Fry and Pomfret Fry outside of Goa and Mumbai...and it is incredible. The most authentic Indian food, friendly service and attentive staff.

Went to try a new restaurant with parents in law and they chose the leaf. Wonderful South Indian food that was full of flavour! We all tried a bit of each other’s dishes and every dish was fragrant and tasty with a nice level of warm spice. The chef and wait staff could not have been more attentive in checking if we were happy and explaining the dishes. I had a superb vegetarian dish, very tasty! Well priced dishes and will definitely return when back in the area.

If you would like to experience authentic Indian cooking, you must give The Leaf a try. Absolutely delicious food and warm welcome by the staff there.

We tried The Leaf after reading reviews and were pleasantly surprised - not very busy on a Wednesday evening so plenty of space without booking. Charming family run restaurant and the chef comes to talk, explain any menu queries and will prepare the food to your taste if you don’t like it ‘hot’. All food cooked fresh to order and you can tell the difference. Very extensive menu including a lot of vegetarian options, plus a specials board. It’s not glitzy decor and the owners have evidently inherited furnishings and crockery from the former cafe but the service and food makes up for it. Spacious first floor dining area too - great for a group or large family. We’ll definitely be back...

Friends took us for a reunion. The food was great, the atmosphere cosy, fun and friendly. So many unusual dishes, embracing vegetarian, vegan and the meat eaters, great fish menu too. We were lucky to be served a traditional dessert which was very tasty. Highly recommend a visit if you like all things Indian

This is not a formulaic indian restaurant but on that specialises in South Indian cuisine. Highly recommended.

Excellent menu with plenty for fish eaters, vegans and vegetarians, as well of course meat lovers. More a cafe style than a restaurant but none the worse for that. Very friendly staff and chef /owner. We really enjoyed our visit and will return during the New Year when we are next in Grantham.

Had the lamb lunch menu. Chefs selection of lamb curry, with a handful of thali style sides, rice and Indian bread for a very reasonable price. Partner is vegan and they were able to cater very well for her. Overall great place to eat.

Came here with my partner and ordered the thali lunch meal as vegan. The selection was absolutely huge, tasted amazing and was very well presented. Staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. You will never leave here hungry!!!! 5*

This is a small family-run South Indian restaurant in the centre of Grantham. The red fish curry was excellent as was the vegetarian thali, very flavoursome an a cut above standard Indian restaurants. The quality of the food is equal to the best South Asian restaurants in London but at half the price. Well worth coming of the A1 for.
