Real authentic Indian, rare to find these days!! Great food, service and atmosphere

As someone who's not the biggest "curry" lover, they offered a fantastic selection of other specialty dishes. I enjoyed a fantastic Tandoori Duck Saslik with Peshwari Nan. Both were delightful. We were here as part of a triple birthday celebration for my brother, dad and Sister's partner, and it was a lovely evening. Could get a little loud at times, but it was a Saturday night, and the atmosphere was great. The staff were all fantastic, friendly but efficient. A little on the pricey side, but worth it! Would definitely visit again!

Food was tasteless, meat like eating sponge. Lots of it though, oversized portions.

I went to the Bombay cottage on a Saturday evening and all the staff were so lovely and accommodating! The food was fresh, super yummy and in large portions! Would 100% go back and recommend as a date spot or for a group of friends Thanks guys :)

Have had food from the Bombay for a long time now always really good but last nights was not good at all no taste at all , quite dry , not enjoyed this time

The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was pleasant, although it was a weeknight and not very crowded. The portions were generous, and the food was good but not the best indian we have been too. After the meal, we were offered complimentary Baileys and Port, which was a nice touch. I will definitely return to this restaurant.

As always, it was phenomenal. Such amazing food. Big chunks of meat in the curry. The chicken tikka is out of this world. It’s the best Indian food for miles around.

Our order was underwhelming, we are very familiar with the dishes we ordered and compared to other restaurants in Stamford I’m afraid we found the Bombay Cottage to be quite bland. The guy who greeted me could’ve smiled too, which didn’t help the overall experience.

Ordered a lamb curry and the meat was extremely chewy and unpleasant. I’ve eaten lamb in the restaurant twice and it’s always been good. Had the same issue ordering chicken from takeaway. Not sure why the meat quality is so different for takeaway.

Recommended by friends as the best in our area. We ordered for the first time tonight as a take away, and we need look no further. Amazing food, really generous portion sizes and good value for money. Also really quick delivery. Highly recommend

First time I've had a curry that a two year old would complain it's not spicy enough. Extremely disappointed as were my kids (aged 11 & 14, not 2)

It was our first time visiting, but definitely will return!

On the recommendation of a friend, I made my first visit. Both the cuisine and the decor are lovely. It was really packed. When we finished eating, the staff was eager to move us on. It was plain to see that they wanted to oust us so they could let more people in. I didn't feel welcome there and I won't be returning.

Every new dish we try is top rate and so tasty ,and delivered with a smile.

Good food,menu slightly confusing as not all dishes are on it Maybe they want you to order more expensive ones? Good portions of rice and curry so all good. Service was quick if waiters were slightly impersonal except guy with beard. Would go again if passing through.

Easily the best Indian restaurant in Stamford. Their dishes are exceptional and the quality of the meat is amazing. Staff are also very friendly and welcoming. Would 100% recommend.

We love the Bombay cottage and the food is normally excellent but tonight’s was a bit below par. The onion bhaji were dry and over cooked as was the chicken in the merelan.

Used to be a favourite Indian take away, but it's gone down hill considerably. Once you finally get the awful website to process your order, it's over £40 plus delivery for: Garlic nan - freezing cold, not a hint of garlic. Pulao rice - cold. Chicken tikka Rogan - no flavour (so lacking in flavour you could taste the chicken "meat" taste), full of bones. Onion Bhaji - cold and rubbery. Sag ponir - cold. The onion salad and mint sauce were alright though (if not a bit watery). All of the order ended up in the bin and we've ordered elsewhere. At least our previous order to this was semi-edible. Come on Habib, you used to take pride in the food that left your establishment, what's gone wrong?

Onion bhaji’s were so dry and cold. One of the Peshwari naans tasted more like pancake. Glad we didn’t order anything else.

I recently visited The Bombay Cottage and was truly blown away by the quality of the food. I started with their Chicken Shani Nariyal which was cooked to perfection and packed full of flavour. For my main course, I had the Tikka Masala - Chicken which was rich and creamy with just the right amount of spice - which was simply divine! The atmosphere at The Bombay Cottage is warm and inviting and the staff are friendly and attentive. They have an excellent selection of wines to accompany your meal as well as a range of beers, spirits and soft drinks. Overall, I had an amazing experience at The Bombay Cottage and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious Indian meal in Stamford.

Went as a group which can make things slow, but not here! All of us were v pleased with what we had ordered. The menu is varied enough but not crazily overful like at some places. The cook can really cook these dishes!

The food was nice, portions are great ! however the food was luke warm. I called at 18:47 to ask how long my food might be, as the delivery time said 18:30 on the screen. the lady on the phone said that my food had just left. 19:04 i receive a call from the driver, telling me he couldn't find me. He was in the next street. I noticed he brought it too me in the pastic bag. He may have had it in a thicker, insulated bag in the car, I don't know. I felt like I had to eat it really quick , to stop it going cold. I have put 3 stars for restaurant, even though it was delivery.

Bombay Cottage has just gone completely down hill. We HAD been regular guests at Bombay Cottage and realised toward the end of lockdown 2.0 that the quality was diminishing. We thought we'd give it a go to eat in again and it'll be last time we ate in. The service was diabolical and the owner wasn't having any of it when 2.5 hours later we finally left, bearing in mind over half an hour was spent waiting for our order (food and drink) to be taken and over an hour waiting for the only course we ordered, and we said we were really dissapointed to have been forgotten about. By the time it got to us the food was substandard. Literally watching people who were seated long after us getting served drinks and food long before us. Our meal came to an astronomical price of ~£80 for two of us, 2 meals, 1 rice, 1 bread and 2 soft drinks. When I questioned this also I was wrong because "[he] would never treat his customers badly." We've just had a takeaway thinking we'll give it another go after a good few months and jesus I'm glad we've found somewhere else. Bland, overpriced and not worth the effort. Chicken has clearly been frozen and possibly even recooked as it was so rubbery and came in boulder sized chunks! Sauces were all watery. Breads were undercooked and so stodgy. Clearly this place just doesn't care anymore and just wants to hike is prices hoping to survive on the tails of its previous reputation. Go somewhere else if you want a GOOD Indian.

A nice venue, with takeaway facilities

Very poor selection for vegetarians. However, I ordered for delivery anyway - so that was my choice. The food was early, so I was only just back from work - if I hadn’t been in before the time requested it could have been a problem. My main complaint is the food. Bland and uninteresting. The chant dhal was like baby food!

God we love this place! We live abroad and really miss a great Curry! We always make it our first stop when coming back to Stamford. This time we froze some and when we drove home across europe for 17 hours we had it for dinner that night. It’s always one of life’s certainties, death, taxes and a great curry from Bombay!

Great food, great service. The food arrived 20 mins early but I didn’t get notification that it was on its way. I got a notification at 20:21 to say the food wouldn’t be long yet it had arrived at 19:00?

Barghis are dry and chewy. Couple of potatoes were brown. Warm.

Order was missing items. I only realised when I got back to the car and checked as the bag felt light. Had to return and wait for the additional food to be made. Maybe it would have been good if they’d thrown in a couple of free poppadoms to make up for it but no such luck… Will always check straight away in future!

Loved everything about this place. It's a small restaurant, quiet and charming. Helpful waiters, and the owner makes sure to visit all the tables to ensure diners are happy. Which we are, because the food is gorgeous. That makes it tempting to over order, but that's my fault not theirs. And a pretty decent house red. Definitely coming here again.

We went as a family of four for a birthday treat for one of us. It was the hottest day of the year 40°c!!! We rang at 5pm to see if they had air con😂😅 They did! We had four absolutely superb meals. We were so well taken care of, the attention to detail and service, was absolutely impeccable and I used to be silver service😂 so I'm a little judge about that. They presented the birthday boy with a sparkler in the most delicious iced dessert 🍨 😊 The decor is absolutely stunning, the menu is superb. I honestly cannot recommend this place enough❤💯

The food is good and we had takeaway, the portions are large which is good because the price is eye wateringly expensive. Some of the dishes were under seasoned this is not a criticism as I find a lot of curries very over seasoned so this was good for me and I could make it how I like it. For the money (£17.50) I expected the most amazing curry in the world but eventhough pleasant, 4 large prawns some potatoes and spinach with some spices and tomato didn't compute with me or anyone else. We had garlic chilli chicken which was nice and as it should be, chicken tikka masala and a chicken dansak. I'm just miffed at the cost, these were all way too expensive for what it was in 20 years we will be paying this much but this type of forward thinking is worrying. We got 10%discount for collection.

Absolutely superb meal, service and restaurant. Staff were exemplary. Large selection on the menu and they were excellent in making changes for anyone with dietary needs. Will recommend to anyone looking for top quality Indian cuisine in or near to Stamford. Also offer a takeaway service and serve takeaway dishes that do not appear on the main menu in the restaurant.

Delivery time and service is good but we were disappointed with the food. The lamb and chicken in both our curries was very chewy/rubbery so we didn’t eat the meat but the sauce was nice.

- Food took 3 hours for delivery - We called to question where it was, they’d disconnected there phones as they were “too busy” - We ended up having to drive to the restaurant to see what was happening. - We were lied to by the owner, he said the food was already on its way, we went home and it took a further 35 minutes (we live 5 minutes away) - The food arrived and it was piping hot, it has not been in a car for 30 minutes - they got our order wrong, and curry was ridiculously oily Basically, order from here if you’re prepared to be disappointed.
