We had a brilliant week staying at the Lazy Mare for a mini honeymoon. It was exactly the kind of relaxed week we needed after a busy time. We have 4 children so being able to get away just the 2 of us was a real treat and the converted horse box was everything we didn't know we needed! Compact but perfectly designed and organised - we're still trying to work out how to use some of the ideas in our own, busy home! If we ever get the chance to have some time on our own again we'll definitely be back. Thanks to Bex & Steve for your hospitality. Lianne & Adam

Another excellent stay at the guesthouse. Very good and helpful hosts, nothing was too much trouble. The food is out of this world, both breakfast and evening meal with a very extensive menu. The rooms are of a very high standard, beautifully fresh and clean. I would highly recommend to anyone and we will certainly stay here again when visiting friends in the area

We were staying in Lynton and as there is sadly no longer a bakery there, we looked around for an alternative. We found Parracombe Community Store and Cafe on Tripadvisor and are so glad we made the effort to drive out there - about a 13 minute drive. Wonderful shop, stocking freshly baked sourdough bread (ironically, baked by someone in Lynton) along with other foods you’d expect in a great farm shop. Another delight was the cafe. We enjoyed great quality toasted teacakes outside in the sunshine. We bought great bread, butter, jam, cheese, hummus, biscuits, a couple of bottles of cider - and including our teacakes and tea - spent the same as we spent on a couple of average burgers in Lynton the day before. Great experience and great value.

I had some building work to undertake in Combe Martin and as usual with a new destinations I researched some eating places. From all of the reviews I'd seen I felt that I couldn't go wrong with the Harbour café. My first breakfast in January was mediocre with the food not being very hot. The second in early February was just fabulous with hot food and just as important also being served on a hot plate. The third and FINAL attempt on Thursday 13th of Feb was to say the least - appalling. The sausage was burnt on one side and tasted off, most of which I left. The baked beans were not even tepid. the mushrooms were cold and only the hash brown had any sign of warmth on the whole breakfast. To add insult to injury the plate that this mess was served on was stone cold. Did I complain? No. Why, because I was time limited and to be honest I was so angry I think I would have lost the plot. I'll not be returning. It was an absolutely appalling attempt at what should be a very simple meal.

Looking forward to a chip supper I ordered a steak and kidney pie and chips, not difficult one would have thought. However, the pie was just zapped in the microwave and turned out to be completely inedible as the pastry was like tired old leather. And the staple of a Chippy, the chips. Well they were stone cold , flacid excuses for chips. Pretty much all the meal ended up in the bin.

We stayed at the Fox and Goose for a couple of nights between Christmas and New year. We had a lovely time. The room was very comfortable, the food was all freshly prepared and delicious. Craig and his team were very friendly and professional. We loved the wood burning stove, and the corgis were a bonus! Highly recommend.
