Terrible food frozen kebab chucked into a oven with no care horrible do not reccomend never come here you will regret it

Got a takeaway whilst staying nearby recently. Served quickly. Food cooked to order. Good quality fish and chips. Highly recommend

WOW!! The names spot on! We had a mixture of stuff. Some had fish and chips, others kebabs, burgers etc. All the food was incredible! Such big portions too, and if you want some combination that’s not on the menu; no problem! Very friendly team, and will definitely return when next holidaying in the area

Have only tried their fish and chips (several times) and realise chip preferences are a personal matter but these are my favourite anywhere. Fish also top quality and prepared by lovely people.

We are currently on Holiday in Coombe martin and we decided to have fish and chips from the Top chippy which was highly rated in the village. The food quality service and the portion sizes were excellent. If you ever visit Coombe martin for a holliday or a short break make sure you put this place on your places to eat. Well done Top chippy for making our holliday experience memorable.

The portions are really generous and very tasty. The fish is really fresh, too. All food is freshly made. Very friendly owners. Only negative: Cash only!

Proper old skool chippy. Staying in the area for a couple of days and Top Chippy was recommended. Food was outstanding, cooked really well and well-priced. Very friendly welcome from staff too. Highly recommended if you're staying close by.

Great place best chippy in combe martin

CASH ONLY. £25 (x2 reg cod & chips, curry sauce + 1 battered sausage). Had as a take away while on holiday and highly recommend. Great chips with seasoned crispy batter. People running it seemed really friendly and popular with locals.

Huge portions and great taste. Minimum waiting time. Absolute satisfaction.

Long wait, then don't take cards, another long wait,should have read the sign behind the counter I suppose, but good fish and chips, almost ,£10each ridiculously, expensive, going for fish fingers next time.

Really nice chippy, tasty fish with a nice crispy batter and chips were tasty too, having tried both chip shops in coombe martin this is the better of the two

Lovely freshly cooked fish and chips, at a reasonable price, the portion size is very good, even the small chips was too much for us.

Then asked what did you want, once I told them, they said come in we'll quickly sort your order for you!! How lovely and very appreciated. Definitely my "local" now when we're in Devon xx

Literally the best fish and chips I've had in years! The chips had that perfect balance between crispy and soft. The place needs a new sign outside but don't let first impressions put you off. The food is amazing! Was a little annoyed I had to walk up to the coop to get cash out, but I do get it that it costs them to process cards. Its just I don't carry cash any more, so dropped a star for service on this.

Needed a nice easy meal on our first night of the holiday and decided on Top Chippy. It was a great choice. Fish was lovely and flaky and the batter not too greasy. Chips were lovely too. We really enjoyed our meal.

Wonderful !! Wish we had gone here earlier in tonour holiday! This must be the locals favourite secret. The best fish and chip in Coombe Martin hands down. Husband asked for large fish for myself but as it was close to closing time only small fish left so was given 2 in place of a large!!!! Batter is literally the best I've ever had. The couple that run the chip shop were super nice friendly and chatty. Husband described this chip shop as a proper Chippy!

Best pizza in combe martin best take away in the village as well. Beautiful thick crust plenty of toppings and so tasty. Everything cooked fresh to order. The most beautiful smiley warm welcome by both owners so friendly and lovely.

Cannot recommend this place enough. We visited twice during our week stay at The Cabin holiday home. The food is fresh, beautifully cooked, and fantastic quality. Such an amazing range of choices too!! Excellent find as prices are reasonable, the couple who run it delightful and everyone in our family were happy and had full bellies ☺️ The only downside for customers that we saw was that they are often so popular they sell out earlier than their closing time - good for them though, well deserved.

Really good food which was cooked fresh why we waited, owner and his Wife were very friendly. Prices good and whilst waiting found out his family lived near to us. Would certainly recommend this chippy

What a lovely find!! Hidden slightly out of Coombe Martin but definitely worth the drive! Food was cooked fresh, but there wasn't a particularly long wait. We had sausages, battered sausages (family also had fishcakes and salad) and all were tasty and fresh. Chips were lovely and crispy. The staff were super friendly which is always lovely when you visit somewhere. Definitely not somewhere to drive passed without popping in!! Da Iawn Pawb!!

Ignore any first impressions, all food is cooked upon order, we had a large peice of cod and small chips between us, plenty there, it was £11.50. Staff were very friendly, 4 or 5 local couples came in whilst we were there, food was lovely

If you went on face value you would be misguided, the mobile phone advertised doesn't work, you just walk in and order, it's all cooked fresh, the trays are empty. We had a small chips and a large piece of cod between us, it was lovely and well worth the £11.50 price tag. When we arrived there was one couple waiting, after that another 3 local couples came in to order, which for me tells you it's a decent chippy. Wait was around 15 minutes.

The owners are super friendly, looks pricey but the portion size is big which means excellent value for money. They also have a large menu to choose from. Can't recommend Top Chippy enough!!

Massive piece of cod, fantastic chip loverly grub. Possibly the best fish and chips I’ve ever had and trust me I’ve eaten some fish and chip over the last 60 years!!!!

DON'T BOTHER Had to wait a age for fish & chips. Chips not very good lots of black ones. The batter on the fish was so full of oil we couldn't eat it but the cod inside was lovely. Also CASH ONLY which is a joke this day and age. Overall £9.60 for fish and chips you can get a lot better.

Food was honestly amazing in the week we were in Combe Martin we went twice. Had the fish and chips which was delicious and also had the burger and the doner wrap which were both also equally delicious. The couple who work there are quite possibly the friendliest takeaway owners I’ve ever met! Would definitely recommend if you’re in the area!

Tasty fish. Appeared to be cooked fresh but wasn't keen on the taste of the oil. Not sure what oil it was cooked in, again seemed fresh just personally not keen on the taste. Staff where very pleasant and accommodating. Not cheap although no more expensive than any other coastal chippy. All in all, not the best fish and chips we've had but also nowhere near the worst. I think oil taste is a personal preference so you may think it's better than we did.

The best fish & chips I can remember, top quality. The owners are a real nice couple. Can’t recommend this place highly enough.

Great service and absolutely cracking cod and chips not too mention the curry sauce. You'll have to go a long way to find better. Highly recommend.

One of the best fish and chip shops I've been to, should have an award for what they do. There kebabs are awesome 👌, better than any kebab shop I've been too and it's not what they specialise in. Owners are always really friendly too. Couldn't ask for much more.

Was quiet when i got there as they had not been open long and it was early. Was served by a very friendly couple, guessing they were the owners. They asked if i wanted to wait in my car and they would bring out my order when it was ready - wouldn’t get this kind of service at my local chippy in south wales. Fish and chips were excellent, bought 2 large portions of chips, still eating them then next day as there was so much. Would definitely recommend a visit if you are in Combe Martin.

Just had cod and chips tonight while on holiday. Chose this chippy based on Google reviews and well, bloody fantastic food. Good portions that are cooked fresh and service with a smile. Well done Top Chippy!

We were staying at Watermouth Castle and popped in here for a fish and chip supper. We had a lovely welcome by the friendly owners and were met with a great choice of takeaway. We opted for doner kebab, farmhouse pizza and senior citizen-sized cod and chips. All delicious and would definitely recommend. Also there is a green area opposite with seating if you wish to sit out and eat. 😊

We tried a few different things while we was here for our week stay we liked it so much we kept going back. We had fish and chips, pizzas and donner kebab and I could not fault any of them, the food is delicious. Would highly recommend people to visit top chippy if they are in Combe Martin, and an added bonus the owners are so lovely too which always makes the experience better when visiting, gutted we don’t have a takeaway as nice up north will definitely miss their food

Exceptional chippy. Brilliant selection on the menu from your normal fish and battered sausages to your fresh cooked pizzas or hot crispy chicken wraps. Prices are very reasonable compared to others and portion sizes are consistant. (Yes a large chips is still a large and hasn't turned into a medium like everything else 😆). We sampled a kebab pizza on our recent visit which was divine! Good to see you open again guys. See you soon.

Honestly best food I’ve had from a place in Combe Martin Only complaint is that it’s very slow to get the food if it is busy but this isn’t much of a problem as it seems to be run by only 2 people and even when busy fairly fast to get it 20/10 chips

This was a real find. The unprepossessing appearance hides superb fish and chips. The batter light and crispy, the fish delicious and moist. Chips were crispy but soft in the middle. I can honestly say this was the best fish and chips I have ever eaten. Portions are huge so you may want a small portion of chips.The staff were so friendly despite working hard as the place was incredibly busy. Definite 5 star. Recommend!

Really impressed with this chip shop! Only found it by chance. when we turned up they weren't even open but they still fired up the oven for us 40 minutes before opening time. The food waa exceptional, even told us the perfect spot to eat it. Best chip shop we have ever been too. Really nice couple please give them a visit.

I use this chippy very regularly, food is always fantastic, minimal waiting time. The text and collect system works brilliantly for us as we can plan when we want to collect ready to feed the children. Staff are very welcoming and helpful and always serve...

Stopped at top chippy today to pick up my dinner..even though it's pre order only they were more than happy to take my order..this is one of the best fish and chips I have ever had and very reasonably priced..I would highly recommend 😋

Wish we ordered these pizzas back in August on our last visit to our 2nd home, they are so freshly prepared and very tasty indeed. Only possible point to make is slightly too much mozzarella for us, but perfect in every other way 👌 😋

All the usual offering + vegan choices. You just can’t beat a well run chippy. Plenty of locals ordering so guaranteed good quality!

We were staying for a few days at a holiday park so decided to try this chip shop.the fish was absolutely beautiful batter was lovely and crisp, the chips were ok, a little greasy if I'm honest but not enough for me to not eat...

Ordered via text in the morning & was avknowledged straight away. Tasty fresh plaice, chips were divine. Staff friendly & food was ready on allotted time.

We were in Combe Martin, and our last night decided to get cod and chips, read other reviews so ordered as per new rules. Got them and decided to drive and eat them with a view on the top of the hill. When we unwrapped them the chips were the worst I have ever seen, dried up reheats, the fish was ok, but the chips were inedible. I binned them and bought two new portions at the black and white in town. Really disappointed.

Best fish and chips I’ve had for a long time. Very nice and really close to the seafront. Not open on Sundays which was sad as we were hoping to have it again to eat on the beach.

Having used both the chippies; the one nearer the beach and this one: we can testify that Top Chippy wins hands down. They currently take orders via text, from 7am on the day you want your food. The system actually works very well, as there is no queuing. Just pick up your food at the time you state(which is confirmed by them); freshly cooked and delicious. We had fish and chips, but they offer a good range of alternatives. Just great food; nothing more to be said.

Fantastic! Great idea of texting your orders during covid so you can just go and collect it later in the day. As for the food. Wow. It was fabulous ☺️. The portions where more than enough. The fish had delicious light batter and the chips were heavenly! Fabulous food and fabulous service!

Owners need to take care of their website. Wasted half an hour trying to find them after checking online to see if they were open. Website says open but in fact, they are closed ... out of season.

The owners are lovely and friendly and the staff. Everyone can't do enough for you. The food is excellent and so is the service. Highly recommend to everyone.

I have lived here in the village for a while now and very safe to say we use top chippy all time as they have very big portions all very nice people who work there and I'm very pleased with what they do I have tried black and white shop down the front and safe to say it's not as good as top chipppy not as much chips were oily.Top chipy has a very nice taste and just love it in general even there other bits are big e.g. there batterd sausage are big and as are there kebabs and burgers

Ignore the queues downtown and the black and white. Drive 3 mins up the high street to the Top Chippy. Fresh cooked, lots of menu options and friendly service. Delicious!

Portion sizes are plentiful, great value for kids with Value Box (small fish, small sausage, small chips for £4.50). Only gripe was the chips were a little on the greasy side but the cod was large with lovely chunky flakes.I was impressed that they’ve ditched the plastic carrier bags for large, sturdy paper bags. Big thumbs up.

Probably the best fish and chips ever. Cooked perfectly but not greasy/oily at all. Also perfect mushy peas and curry sauce.

Just moved to the area so decided to try my local chippy. Well what can i say... i was not disappointed the fish and chips were wonderful and the service was just as good. I was there literally on closing time and the place was packed (a great sign) and irrespective of my late arrival the welcome was Super friendly and they worked well after hours serving me and others. I can see me returning often.
