We walked from Chedworth Roman Villa to Seven Tons Inn for lunch. Plenty of tables available as early weekday. The food took a long time to arrive as apparently they were a chef down. Food good but pricy and 10% service charge on top. Made a nice day out and nice pub so overall can't fault it.

Updated Oct 24. Oh..wow.. prices have risen 3 times in the last year or so.. onion bhajis used to be £3:50 now £6..and half the size..! Prawn puree £7:50..what..I Sat in a very nice Indian a few weeks ago and paid way less.. crazy times. Food is pretty good. Instead of a take away we dined in for a change. £48 for two. 4 poppadoms and pickle (combined £8) onion bhaji and chicken chat..(£9) then balti prawn with garlic and chilli and mixed balti, again with garlic and chilli..they include nan...£1 each supplement for the slight additions.. supposedly £25 for the two mains..by my calculations we were overcharged by £6..I did question it.. no joy!!!

The food quality was only so-so, service was very slow though the pub was almost empty. The food took a very long time to arrive, the scampi was overdone, I ordered mushy peas and they brought garden peas, a very small portion./ Won't be going to this pub again.

Generous roast Sunday lunch which everyone enjoyed, but very intermittent service. After 20 minutes, we had to go to the hostess desk as the sparkling water we ordered as we sat down hadn't arrived, and nor had anyone to take our drinks or food orders. This resulted in our orders being taken, but after another 15 minutes, we had to ask again for the water and the drinks. We were at out table for over 30 mins before we all had something to drink. The food then arrived quickly, although one dessert was forgotten and had to be asked for. The food was all good, but let down by the service. When pubs ask to have the tables back for the next sitting, they need to make sure you are served so that you can eat and have coffee before having to leave.

We stopped for some cream teas on the cafe side of the restaurant. The cream teas were tasty but a little expensive for the size of the scones. However what was truly bad was the manager, she was rude not just to us but to many customers around us. She scolded us one by one for “removing” the reserved sign on our table, even though her employee said it was a walk in table. She rudely told us “if you wanted to come here you should have reserved”. She also didn’t allow us to share our tea pot and refused to bring more cups. This attitude is honestly what made us leave so quickly, we were all uncomfortable and tired of being treated this way. It’s a shame because the cafe is very beautiful.
