Friendly service, welcoming and great food!

A very pleasant stay of two nights. Pleasant staff and clean rooms. Great central location, with long stay parking just a few minutes walk. Will definitely stay again.

Very good experience. The food was very good a little slow on service but it was a busy time. The table could have been cleaned before we used but was acceptable.

Don’t bother unless you’re a local . Stood at the bar with only one person in front of me . The other customers order seemed to take a while as the till was playing up . During my wait a local walked in and stood at the bar. When the guy in front of me had been served the girl completely blanked me and served her friend. She knew I was there as I was stood right next to the till she was using . Walked straight out and went elsewhere. Won’t be returning

Had a great time with my mates watching the Olympics the food was great and so were the drinks, the service was very quick and had a great atmosphere.

Visited this lovely town centre pub today for a friends birthday lunch! Not a bad word to say to be honest. Staff were very friendly & attentive, it’s soo nice to be welcomed with a warm smile. Great choice of beverages & food on the menu. Will definitely recommend to others looking to visit Cirencester. Looking forward to our next trip back to Cirencester!

Had an amazing meal for lunch today. Live near to ciren. Had to meet others. Not been since menu was changed. Great choice on the menu and behind the bar. Nice choice of gins, which I had a pink gin. But was offered plenty of options. Informed that menus was on the table and I could order at the bar or by the app. I had had the gammon, which I asked for on the well done side. Was offered both egg and pineapple. I was busy chatting to my friend, so before I realised the food was delivered with a smile. My food was excellent as I am a little awkward. Gammon was cooked perfect and the egg had a nice soft yolk.

Still sitting here having returned the worst pub meal I've had in ages, microwaved chicken and mushroom pie to a rock hard ball sitting in the grease from the overcooked pastry. Waited 30 min for that rubbish on a quiet Monday afternoon, could have put it in an oven in that time. No love in the kitchen and obviously no respect for customers.

We called into the Black Horse for drinks a few times over the last two weeks. The service was brilliant, yesterday Scott was working behind the bar and was so busy. We were sat close to the bar and were really impressed by his professionalism when dealing with a challenging situation that occurred. He was so kind to the lady who had a bit of a personal problem. He never missed a beat whilst serving a queue of customers at the same time as reassuring the lady in question. Well done! Hope the management read this🤗

Average pub grub, incredibly slow - wait of around 40 minutes for the mains and another 20 mins for dessert, with a relatively empty pub. Note to kitchen - if you have to defrost cheesescake, don't serve it on a warm plate with part of the dessert very chilled and the rest warm.

Delicious Steak and Ale 🥧 and Cowboy🍔. Went on Tuesday and there is a promotion for the burger meal, and it came with a free Pedigree 🍺(the burger and beer for less than £13!). Great meal, and one of the better experiences trying pub food across 🇬🇧!👍🏻

First visit for a family gathering. We were made welcome as soon as we arrived. The young lady who greeted us and showed us to our table was so friendly and helpful. She was attentive all the way through our meal. We loved her to bits. The food was good too. They were so flexible with the menu, we could have what we wanted and it was all delicious. We are already planning another visit.

Attended the black horse for a meal with my husband for their burger and a pint night. Food was nice and hot and very delicious. Good beer and attentive staff. Highly recommend.

My family and I come here regularly; and we came this weekend to celebrate my grandma’s birthday. The food is tasty, the staff were very friendly and even gave us birthday cupcakes at the end of the meal!

Food took ages to come and the chef complained we ordered something that wasn’t supposed to be on the menu

We only had drinks. So cannot comment on the food. We were greeted by friendly staff and the drinks were good. I would say this place is slightly cheaper than some of the others in the town, which is a bonus.

A great traditional pub in Cirencester's Town centre. Food, beer, music, quiz, bingo, poker and probably more if you have time to dig below all that. The staff are knowledgeable, polite and good company, much like the beers ;) Recommended.

myself and my husband popped in for lunch, I has fishfinger sandwich which comes with chips, my husband had a steak and cheese baguette also with chips. We ordered our meals when they came out we were very disappointed, my sandwich was not on bloomer bread as stated, just bog standard cheap brown bread and smothered in mayo I had roughly 6 chips...... the price of this was £7.99, my husbands steak baguette was chewy which had what looked like processed cheese on, he had even less chips than me, my husband did complain regarding the lack of chips but all they said was is that the chips were a smaller portion as it was lunch! I think £8.99 for this was way too much for what you got, will not be stopping here again. Wetherspoons are much better value, most of their meals including an alcoholic drink are around £10, the only reason we didn't go into the Wetherspoons is because we had a dog with us.

Very small portions for what it costs.Chips with baguette was a child's portion.When I asked if this was correct amount the server said yes.Very disappointed as we usually use Witherspoons but they do not allow dogs.Will not recommend and would never use again.

Went in for dinner and drinks. Ended up doing the quiz! Gentleman behind the bar was great and the barmaid was smiley and went the extra mile to make us feeling welcome :) definitely going back :)

Family of 10 arrived at this pub and it seemed friendly and a nice atmosphere. When we ordered food we was told a 45 minute wait, which we was happy to wait. When the food come out parts was missing that we ordered a burger come out rather pink inside. Ordered nachos that was sent back 3 times and still wasn’t correct. Ordered a Mac and chesse which come out with chicken on it! Family member (let’s just say he had no hair) was eating his chips to find a long black hair in his food, we then spoke to the manager that spoke in a horrendous manner, we asked politely asked for a refund where he then became rude and point blankly refused. Children meals came out later and very over cooked. Very much so lack of communication in the kitchen. Meals was altered due to dietary requirements and was still given food the person couldn’t eat, worst case could have been an allergy reaction and worst off could have been a fatality. Over all my experience was absolutely diabolical! Would never recommend this, will be taking this matter further with head quarters and food standards.

Just did not have meany of the food orders so disappointed just hatto have fish for most of us but not bad food I don't think I will go again but service was good just a shame about the food they did not have

The food was lovely, empty plates all round. They were checking everything was ok for us throughout our visit. Nothing was too much trouble, lovely atmosphere. Took a trip to Cirencester and found the Black Horse. Clearly a firm favorite with local people. We were served quickly with a smile from Dani. We ordered from the steak and drink deal. The Steak was cooked to perfection. A must visit if you are in the area.

We had food on the day the town switched on the Christmas lights, even though the pub was bursting at the seems, service was excellent and the food was very good

Several recent visits, food & service 1st class. Apologies, I forgot the Gentleman Geordie barmans name, found him to be very helpful & full of advice on all things food & drink. Have sampled several different dishes along with my Wife & every single one was very tasty & plentiful. Will certainly be back again & again now. Well done Black Horse.

What a gem- Fantastic bar and restaurant, and really driendly staff members, the guy on the bar recommended the pedigree ale which I thoroughly enjoyed and the fish and chips was amazing, big portions and very reasonably priced

We went for the curry & a pint deal. Staff where friendly when we ordered but it went down soon after that. We waited 45 minutes for the worst so called beef madras I've ever had. It turned up cold it didn't taste anything like a curry and had small lumps of fat that I'm guessing where meant to be beef. I couldn't even eat it 😩 & felt sick off what I had ate. We got a small refund but that didn't make up for the ruined night and how disgusting the food was. A real shame, we definitely wouldn't recommend & won't be back to try anything else.
