Came to Cirencester for a day trip. Wanted a family friendly pub. This place did not not disappoint. Nice old school pub. Warm atmosphere as we walked in. Friendly staff. Fab lunch deals with a deal of the day. Sian went above and beyond with friendly customer service. Keeping us updated on our orders. Will come back again next time we come to Cirencester.

Two of my friends and I had lunch at the "Black Horse" yesterday which had a good varied and very reasonable priced lunch menu. The meals we ordered were good. Two of us had the steak and Ale pie which was served with a generous portion of lovely crunchy chips, frozen type peas and a small jug of gravy, which was delicious and good value for money, and my other friend had a chicken meal which was also very good. A jug of iced water was served promptly after we requested for it. There was also a lovely atmosphere in the room along with the music that was being played. Taking the cost and service also into account, Very well thought out strategy and a definate reason to return.

Very chatty and friendly bar staff, 2 nice Marston ales on the pumps which were well poured and topped up. The pub itself was alright. Cirencester is a beautiful area. The pub didn't have a huge amount of atmosphere but it was a Tuesday evening.

Got served by Leon, your amazing bartender, he served all of us in such a way that we were enticed for more and more drinks. Truly a credit to your establishment and we will absolutely be back more!

Really good ub. Beer was excellent

I had the Hunters Chicken which was dry although the chips were very good. Despite being quiet the food took a long time to come.

Hannah is a star. She always serves with a smile, has a positive and happy attitude at work. And does her job to perfection. She is the BEST bartender I have EVER seen. I’ve never seen anyone work harder. She is so good, a shining bright star.

First visit 3/4/25 Ordered 2nd choice as first not on. Cheeseburger and chips, it was awful, the bun was dry and broken and over toasted, beefburger dry and overcooked, tiny spread of cheese. Lots of dehydrated chips ,no salad no presentation. Very disappointed didn't look anything like the menu picture. On the other hand my husbands fish and chips was beautifully cooked and served. I definitely made the wrong choice

3 of us had lunch and drinks. Pub was quite busy, but service was prompt and friendly. Ale was excellent, as usual, - as were the other drinks. We ordered 2 rump steaks (both medium) and one fish and chips. One of the steaks was just slightly over cooked but still tender. The other was great, and the fish and chips were excellent. We have lunch at the Black Horse once a week, and we're always very happy there. The service, food and drinks are always excellent, and it's great value for money. We've already recommended the pub to friends who live in Cirencester.

Pubs pretty decent. Don’t go for a Sunday Roast. 1hr 20 minutes. Cold. Just realised they charge me for something I never got.

Lovely little pub on the highstreet, we popped in for lunch and weren’t disappointed, will definitely be visiting again 😁

Just popped in for a couple of drinks with family and really enjoyed the atmosphere and great friendly service,will definitely revisit when next in Cirencester.

Saturday 1st of march was my wife’s birthday, we were staying at the Cirencester Part caravan and motor home club campsite. I booked a table for 9 plus 2 small dogs. We were blown over by the service, the quality of the food and the well kept drinks. Absolutely recommend this place to anyone. I will definitely be returning. Thank you guys.

Lovely fish (Cod) &Chips the cod and the batter was delicious we will be back a nice atmosphere as always the ham egg and chips looked good to

This was a convenient venue for lunch with friends. Familiar pub chain fare but very reasonable and nicely presented. Siàn and Danni were attentive and pleasant and ensured we will return.

This traditional British pub is a gem. From its warm, friendly and attentive staff to its great value menu. Our 3rd visit to Cirencester and it won’t be our last to this great market town and this pub. Special mention to Mandy (landlady?) who went out of her way to give excellent service!. Well done!

Visited on Friday lunchtime with my son, daughter and son in law. Good atmosphere and friendly staff. A fine pint of well-conditioned Marston’s Pedigree and lovely fish and chips.

Very small portions - lunch specials not even as big as normal kids portion. Average pub grub - wouldn’t recommend

Food just ok but it is Sunday afternoon after all. Toilets very grubby and no toilet paper in the ladies.

We've had lunch here 5 or 6 times in the last few months. Each time, the food has been good, homely pub food at very reasonable prices. The beers are well kept, and the service is excellent. One added benefit for me is that all the menu items display the calorie content, and lighter versions of standard pub meals are available, eg steak and salad. And it's possible to book a table - unlike a nearby pub which refused to take bookings for Saturday afternoon.

Welcoming place, clear to read menu. Live sport on tv, with subtitles (good idea) to keep the sound down. Toilets were clean. Polite staff. Lovely food. House salad was very tasty says my Italian fiancé also the ultimate southern fried burger was very nice.

Stopped here for drink lunch time when ordering drinks we asked in we could have 2 lots of chips but we're told we would have to wait 45 minutes so we did not bother

We pre-booked Christmas Day lunch for the two of us plus our dog. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit, the bar and restaurant were both busy with a festive welcoming atmosphere, our food and the service were great throughout. Lovely location in the centre of Cirencester.

Unfortunately not a good experience. Had fantastic reviews and a great Sunday menu online and noted to be accessible. There’s a small step on entry to navigate with my grandfather in a wheelchair. Then a tortuous route to use the toilets. No online ordering as they said they had. Then told they don’t do roasts anymore, then on ordering was told it’s an hour wait at 12.45. Really subpar.

The Black Horse in Cirencester is an old style pub with a good range of drinks and staff who are keen to deliver a good service but the pub is in need of some investment and modernisation. The toilets in particular are in need of some attention. Maybe I was unlucky but when I visited the toilets were flooded and the smell was bad to say the least.. I've been on agricultural farms which smelled better. The building does have it's charm though and with a little attention to detail to improve the place it could be good.

Waited three quarters of an hour for our food. Not great service. Not very warm either.

We booked a table of 8 here on the evening of the Christmas lights switch on and Market. Despite the pub being rammed as expected, and us all ordering different food, it arrived quickly and was excellent (Beer was good as well 👍). We will definitely be back next time we visit Cirencester

Came to Cirencester to attend the advent market. We came into this pop for a few drinks and it was extremely busy (due to the advent market). All staff coped amazingly well and served every customer with a smile even though it was very busy!! They also had live music which was also brilliant! Highly recommend this pub for a drink and a bite to eat when visiting Cirencester. 👍

Unfortunately we came in when it was quiet and they couldn't be more attentive. Came back the same day later on and if you weren't a local you got pushed to the back of the queue at the bar. Stood at the bar for a good 20 mins and some people who walked in got served immediately

Visited at lunchtime with an old school friend who I haven’t seen for years. I had the classic chicken burger and my friend had the veg chilli which were both delicious & couldn’t fault the price. Staff were very friendly & the service was brilliant. Couldn’t fault anything will definitely be back.

Wonderful place! Arrived and was greeted so well! There is a large food menu, and it’s great priced too! There are other places that do food in the area but are very expensive. I noticed a poster and the landlady explained they have deals each week day for food and a drink. I am not sure if there is parking available but if not there is a car park 4 mins walk away which is free after 6pm. Very friendly staff and the the food was lovely!! As I go to this area for food I will definitely be returning!

Member of the team Leon was very good at explaining the Christmas meal booking process to me - he checked the diary pencilled me in and explained the booking card for the meal choices. Any questions I had he was happy to ask and if he wasn’t sure he went to find out for me. Nothing was to much trouble, I came back to hand in the booking order and paid with ease. He’s a credit to you! Looking forward to our Christmas meal.

The food and drinks were served quickly, considering how busy the pub was, and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. But we (and they) had problems with the table numbers. Several tables had the table number pealed off, which had my fiancé counting the tables to make sure we had the right one for the app! An issue that could easily be fixed and save potential embarrassment for customers and / or staff. Our food was good and the portions were larger than most pubs - neither of us could finish them! Haha. We even shared food between us. I did struggle to find something on the menu to suit my dietary requirements, but the allergen menu was a great asset.

The food quality was only so-so, service was very slow though the pub was almost empty. The food took a very long time to arrive, the scampi was overdone, I ordered mushy peas and they brought garden peas, a very small portion./ Won't be going to this pub again.

We came here as it was dog friendly. Easy to order food using the QR code & pay at the same time. Food arrived quickly & was piping hot. Same with drinks (tea & coffee). Good choice of vegetarian, vegan & pescatarian food too. Average prices. One step at the front to enter. Average pub atmosphere.

Food was really greasy, disappointed as we've eaten here before and foods been ok ..

Terrible. We spent over 75 pounds and the food was TERRIBLE. Took forever (over an hour) to receive it and it was cold. The portions were tiny and frankly it did not taste like anything special. We had to remind them of various parts of our order over and over again, to get them to bring it. Things like tartar sauce, etc., We went there to celebrate some achievements in our family and to say goodbye to a family member that was flying home on Tuesday. It was a TERRIBLE experience, not worth a single pound, especially when it took over an hour to get cold, tasteless food. I will not be back; nor my family. We work too hard for our money to waste it on experiences like this. You guys can do so much better. Very disappointing.

A very pleasant stay of two nights. Pleasant staff and clean rooms. Great central location, with long stay parking just a few minutes walk. Will definitely stay again.

Very good experience. The food was very good a little slow on service but it was a busy time. The table could have been cleaned before we used but was acceptable.

Don’t bother unless you’re a local . Stood at the bar with only one person in front of me . The other customers order seemed to take a while as the till was playing up . During my wait a local walked in and stood at the bar. When the guy in front of me had been served the girl completely blanked me and served her friend. She knew I was there as I was stood right next to the till she was using . Walked straight out and went elsewhere. Won’t be returning

Had a great time with my mates watching the Olympics the food was great and so were the drinks, the service was very quick and had a great atmosphere.

Had an amazing meal for lunch today. Live near to ciren. Had to meet others. Not been since menu was changed. Great choice on the menu and behind the bar. Nice choice of gins, which I had a pink gin. But was offered plenty of options. Informed that menus was on the table and I could order at the bar or by the app. I had had the gammon, which I asked for on the well done side. Was offered both egg and pineapple. I was busy chatting to my friend, so before I realised the food was delivered with a smile. My food was excellent as I am a little awkward. Gammon was cooked perfect and the egg had a nice soft yolk.

Visited this lovely town centre pub today for a friends birthday lunch! Not a bad word to say to be honest. Staff were very friendly & attentive, it’s soo nice to be welcomed with a warm smile. Great choice of beverages & food on the menu. Will definitely recommend to others looking to visit Cirencester. Looking forward to our next trip back to Cirencester!
