Ate here on Sunday 3rd Nov at 2pm with my family. Excellent friendly service from the moment we arrived. Plenty of staff who were polite and very efficient. We all had a roast, beef and three chicken. The food was extremely good and we all agreed that it was probably one of the best pub Sunday roasts we ever had. Very reasonably priced as well. Can highly recommend and will be returning 👍

Came here on a Tuesday a few weeks ago. Unfortunately it was quite a disappointment. The website shows a sample menu which looks pretty good and the pictures of the food looks decent. However when we arrived they had a 'pizza night' on. The range of pizzas was 3 pizzas long (one wasn't being served), fries and chicken strips, all rather expensive. When the food came out I'm sad to say it was terrible. Pizzas tomato base was very sweet and the toppings not cooked well. I didn't have any of the chicken strips but they came out burnt. I would describe the food as similar to food you might get at a bowling alley. I understand small pubs probably want to run a more limited menu on quiet days, however I think this isn't an excuse to serve food that is so far below acceptable. I would like to imagine on a night later in the week the food would be much better. I will say however, the two waitresses were friendly and attentive all evening and regularly came to take drinks orders.

Went for Sunday lunch. I had pork, which was very tough, not slow roasted as advertised and the cracking had so much salt on it, it was inedible. Cauliflower cheese was actually broccoli cheese (do not like broccoli )and had no apple sauce. My friend had the chicken, no gluten free alternatives (yorkshires or cauliflower cheese) and her gravy was laden with salt, made her eyes water!, again, inedible. I had two coffees, both of which were look warm. Came from Swindon for this lunch, should have not bothered!

A massive fan of Sam & Jaks restaurant in Cirencester so thought we'd give their pub a go. Saturday lunchtime we were the only 2 people in the restaurant with maybe 3 tables of people outside. Not a cosy vibe decor wise although if it we're full the atmosphere would have been different. Started with the chicken satay, it arrived & was raw so sent it back. The fish in batter was average & the chips standard frozen, for the price would have expected triple cooked at least. Beef brisket was inedible as so salty so that was not eaten either. The bar man gave us a warm welcome & our waitress was great, she felt so embarrassed our meal was a complete disaster. We did agree a discounted price. A real shame but a long way to go to get anywhere near Sam & Jaks Cirencester restaurant.

We visited The Plough for Sunday lunch on 11th August 24. It was a beautiful day and fairly busy in the garden and restaurant. There was 7 of us for my wife's birthday. I can honestly say "the food was really good with great portions, served with no delays. Staff were polite, efficient and very helpful. The cost was reasonable and we had a lovely afternoon. Only "downside comment" better chioce of desserts (being picky)...... Thank you for a good experience, we will be back.

Being local decided to walk to the Plough for some food after a busy day. Didn't realise it was pizza night but not a problem as were hungry. After waiting a while to be acknowledged at the bar, which never happened, thought we had better check they were still serving food, as most of Cirencester seems to close early for food. At 8.05pm told they had no pizza bases left. No apology, very curt. Turned walked back home a hurriedly ordered something via Deliveroo! Not in a rush to go back.

We stayed in Stratton Mill holiday let nearby ( a stunning wee place too!) and the owners recommended The Plough before we arrived so we booked it for the Tuesday night, pizza night! A fantastic start, the bar staff were warm and welcoming and the pizzas just magic. Before we left we booked Thursday night. I had steak, husband had bacon chop. Both excellent, perfectly cooked and presented. We then booked for Friday, same experience and, once again, the young staff team were OUTSTANDING, the best staff experience we've had in a LONG time - thank you all for making our holiday! Friday's dinner was just as excellent...so guess what? We booked Sunday lunch. This time I had the bacon chop and he the roast chicken...flawless. The staff team, not least Tyler (who we met) and Toby consistently working miracles in the kitchen and the front of house team just exceptional, again not least Libby (Libz) and Joe among others, every single one genuinely warm and welcoming and totally informed about the menu. We could only wish for a place and people like The Plough near our home in Northumberland. We're already booked to return to stay at the Mill next June and we will absolutely returning to The Plough and we've recommended the place to an actor friend who's in a play at the Barn Theatre. Five stars to The Plough and team every single time we came in to eat. Awesome! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Can't recommend it more highly. Lovely friendly, welcoming and very efficient staff (great job not least Libby and Joe and the others 🥰) and great food (well done the chefs Tyler and Toby👏). All the food was just delicious, refined without being fussy and always beautifully presented and using the best ingredients. Went for Sunday lunch and we were shown straight to our table and given menus. That was a good start and then quickly appeared the wine, water and bread. We also received our mains in a timely manner. My roast beef was very tasty but lacking gravy so I ordered a side to the passing waitress. I had to repeat 3 times I wanted extra gravy but my partner had to say the word himself in order for her to understand. I know I have an accent but I have been in the UK for 25 years so I normally don’t struggle to be understood. Anyway she brought a little jug promptly so I was happy. My partner was not so impressed with his roast chicken and noticed most of it looked and tasted like pan fried chicken. If you are going to serve chicken supreme don’t advertise it as roast chicken. Veg and Yorkshire pudding were tasty. For afters we ordered an affogato and a cappuccino. The affogato appeared without a spoon and it took at least 5 minutes to see one appear. In the meantime my partner had to ask for his cappuccino again but that did not appear till after I had finished my affogato. This is the second time we go to The Plough but the first time it was smoother although already cramped and disorganised. Had a couple of mixed experiences at Sam & Jak’s in Cirencester before and that is owned by the same people. There is a lot of room for improvement in both venues and although we are local we won’t be rushing back.

Having read the mixed reviews, we went with an open mind. Hospitality is tough and needs our support to survive, however, to run a successful pub, a blend of skills are required to meet the expectations of the paying customer too. One of which, is strong communication and the ability to handle high pressure with a smile. Upon arriving at the Plough, we felt the pressure from the moment we walked into the bar. We were given an extremely cold greeting by an overstressed waiter .. no smile, no offer of a drink .. just ' we are getting your table ready' . We were left standing in the hope that someone would recognize that we would actually like to order a drink whilst waiting and after 2 attempts, a lovely waitress eventually served us . We were thinking of leaving at this point but it was later in the day, where else could we go ? So we persevered .. after all, the food was supposed to be good. In all honesty, the ambience wasn't great, it felt frenetic ..the staff were so stressed, spinning on the spot, the right hand not knowing what the left hand was doing as the saying goes. We were eventually sat at our table in a room that just didn't work. Very crammed and all in a state of disarray .. the layout and furniture lacked lustre but hey, if the service and food were great, you could somehow come to terms with that. Ummm ... we were not offered a wine list, a bottle of water ..just straight in with the food order .. rush rush .. ! It became clear that there was simply no attention to detail .. what may have been good was out weighted with what was so obviously bad. No thought or care, ensuring we had all we needed, not even salt and pepper at the table. You could say, first impressions rang alarm bells from the start, the greeting .. to the layout, it was all a bit thrown together. So to the food .. everything coming out of the kitchen looked very appetizing and to be honest, our meal had all of the flavours. However, the roast chicken came as a pan fried flattened chicken escalope ( were they thinking I wouldn't notice )? I questioned what had arrived and they had obviously ran out of roast chicken but it was assumed I would be happy with this. The veg was good and the yorkshire pudding was lovely. However, not enough gravy on the plate so it ended up very dry indeed. Perhaps a small side of gravy would be a great addition, or at least the offering of more if needed. We felt abandoned .. it was my husbands birthday lunch, I had mentioned this in the booking but there was no acknowledgment, again ..had anyone paid attention to the detail? In our opinion, there are quite a few tweaks needed in order to make this a good destination eatery. Front of house has to be slicker, a friendly smile, just a bit more warmth needed. Beyond running a good kitchen, factors like comfort, consistency and ensuring your guests enjoy a welcoming environment that they want to come back to is absolutely vital. It is a great shame and wish the Plough every success in the future but hope improvements are made in order to make it a more relaxing and enjoyable experience. Once thing on this occasion we didn't receive ..

OK, so just visited the Plough Inn with my wife. As soon as we walked through the door, we were greeted by a member of staff. We picked a table as it was very quiet with only one or two locals present and no more than a handful of other diners (Wednesday evening). The menu looked good but we both went for a simple meal of fish and chips. Simple maybe but it was absolutely delicious. We were visited three times by staff, enquiring if everything was OK and any more drinks required. Food was excellent, drinks delivered with haste and staff more than attentive and friendly. If we're in the area again we'll definitely call in. Highly recommended and a big thank you to staff for a pleasant evening.

We went to the plough for an evening meal after dropping if for a cider a week or so ago and being impressed with the friendly staff. The food was fantastic! I had a saled beef smash burger (possibly the best I have ever had - sorry beefy boys!) My wife had haddock chowder- again it was beautifully cooked and a good portion My daughter had fish and chips - batter was crisp and great quality “meaty” fish Inside. The dog was very disappointed as he hardly had any leftovers. They even went to the trouble of giving me French fries with my burger and chunky chips with the fish. Staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was a vibrant English country pub (no music - so you can have a conversation). They had a nice log fire on the go with comfy sofas for those lucky enough to get there at the right time. If I’m totally honest dessert was only an 8/10 but the main courses more than made up for it. 10/10 overall we will be back to complete the menu! Highly recommended

We were welcomed by a friendly staff and roaring open fire. We ordered the ‘special’ Wednesday to Friday’ menu and for £20 had an excellent 3 course meal. All the portions were generous and the food warm and delicious. I started with salt and pepper squid ( probably the best I’ve tasted in the U.K.).Then I had a large portion of fish and chips. The batter was crispy, the hand cut chunky chips tasty and the home made tartare sauce, out of this world! For dessert we had ‘sticky toffee pudding’ par excellence! I would thoroughly recommend this country pub for its food, service and ambience. I believe it is under new management …. Congratulations to the new team!

We live locally and having read all the positive buzz about Sam & Jaks in town, we decided to give their newer set-up The Plough in Stratton a go. From start to finish, we couldn't have been less impressed as absolutely everything was mediocre. The surroundings, the decor, the service, and the table settings are underwhelming, and the menu choices are limited and overpriced. At £14, my beef carpaccio starter was little more than a couple of slivers of beef in a mustard-type dressing and their £17 fish and chips was 'bog standard' and unremarkable. We eat out regularly and feel blessed to be surrounded by many great restaurants and wonderful dining pubs. Sadly, The Plough is neither.

We were quite underwhelmed. It just lacked a cosy atmosphere, maybe because there was a distinct lack of fabric to cushion the reverberating sounds. The decor didn’t work; pink and green with white painted 18th beams, trying to be contemporary but not nailing the look. Furniture recycled ( which I normally love) but wasn’t curated very well. Really loud dance music covers bouncing out of the speakers was also quite jarring, softer music would have been more atmospheric. It felt like two teenagers were running the evening; who incidentally were very polite but no adults around. They cleared the table stretching over plates whilst one of the party were still eating ( not great manners). I had heard great things about this pub but sadly we were both really disappointed with the atmosphere, quality of food and setting. I had French onion soup to start which cost £9, small portion and luke warm. Also they had run out of vanilla icecream to go with the dessert menu and cheese board on a Friday evening, so if you are planning to go this weekend let’s hope the management are planning on a food shop this morning before weekend bookings. Sorry for being so negative, but there is a lot of competition out there… we think you need to raise your game a bit more. I don’t think we will come back, there are much better choices in the Cotswolds. Sorry x

The ribs were excellent. The staff were very friendly, but not informed about what things on the menu actually were. There wasn't much to be briefed on, and it would have been a 5 minute job for this to happen. With so many good places around, I doubt we'll be back even though it's a 4 minute walk away.

I stayed in the spa next door and we decided to try somewhere new for dinner the following night, looking at the menu online and from the outside it seemed really nice, the staff were really friendly and we were seated promptly, apon receiving our starters we were instantly disappointed, a baked camembert that was £14, you would expect a larger one to share for double the price of any other starter, disappointingly it was a small individual one. The bread it came with was burnt to a crisp and tasted like burnt paper, it was totally disgusting, it hadn't been toasted but instead put on a griddle and you could taste the horrid burnt of other food, it hadn't been cleaned in some time. The other starter was supposed to be half a pint of prawns with Aioli, it came out as unpeeled king prawns that were almost frozen put in a small glass, apon taking one out it was oozing with a black and white substance, I looked in the glass and it was like that on all of them, turns out they all had fish eggs coming out of them and the kitchen said it was safe to eat, it was an absolute horrible sight and be and my partner both felt sick at this point, this was promptly sent back to the kitchen and another starter was chosen. If it wasn't so late we would have both left at this point, the mains came out which weren't as bad, the ingredients seem quite cheap, coleslaw on my partners main was very cheap and had a runny watery liquid oozing all over the rest of her course. The waitress was really nice and was very apologetic, that was the only positive thing about our experience, definitely will never be returning.

We had the Sunday lunch for 5 and everyone remarked on how good the food was. The roast beef and belly pork were both delicious, as were the ribs…thoroughly recommended!

I was so excited for this and it was such a disappointment. The positives; Nice friendly staff, good wine selection. Hubby enjoyed his fish and chips. Negatives; I had high hopes for the BBQ aspect. I had the smoked brisket that was so dry and...

Food great. Website states they are full but this is not to be believed. This could be a great pub but it needs people in it. Please visit.

Perhaps it was the late’ish table time of 13:;45 to blame but the chef should not have allowed the pork belly main to leave the kitchen. Three of us (out of four) opted for the pork belly, which arrived with enormous puffed up Yorkshire puddings...

I ordered the fish and chips Would be nice to be asked if you want salt on it. Also had a side of garlic corn on the cob they must of forgot the garlic very plain taste. When the bill arrived they also added a £8 service charge thought tipping was optional in this country. Wouldn’t rush back better pubs around

We visited the Plough for Sunday lunch with our two daughers, partners, and a baby. Big mistake! The menu is exclusively Sunday Roast. Many pubs unfortunately seems to do this now - NOT everyone wants a roast. Three of us had smoked mackerel with new...

Not a good menu and because of the small portions it's over priced. Need to employ a business manager who knows food.

The menu was fine: enough choice (unless you wanted fish!) but not so much that it’s all obviously from the freezer. I had the Honey Harissa Aubergine which was very nice, my partner had the liver, which was stringy and not so nice. Service was good, prices were fair.

Stumbled across this pub as we were staying close by. Excellent food and service! Lucky enough to have a roast there on Sunday too. Couldn’t fault a thing. Look forward to coming back again soon.

Lunch with a friend today - what shone for me was the genuine warmth of our welcome from a team who were friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about all Sam & Jak’s new venture has to offer. The menu was inviting to the point where I would have loved to have tried everything - I eventually chose the smoked chicken burger with slaw and a side of fries. Loved it, smoky but not overpowering with a hint of warmth, the chicken thigh was amazing - melt in the mouth tender. Fries were the lightest and crispiest I’ve had. No salt and pepper on the table - that surprised me - but it wasn’t needed - that surprised me more! Great value too - not often I’ve been able to say that in the Cotswolds - love the decor and colours, and big open fire. Thank you Harrison and team for a delicious lunch, really happy to be a short stop away!

Excellent pub in Stratton, Cirencester The Plough in has recently been taken over by Sam and Jak who run a restaurant in the town centre. We visited on a Friday night and we're pleased to see it was busy with a mixture of diners & those enjoying a drink. We went for food and both had the 14 hour applewood smoked brisket with fries and smokey beans it tasted fantastic, melt in the mouth beef which was packed with flavour with the beans adding an extra layer of smokiness to the meal. It isn't just food from the smoker, they have a wide range of options across their menu. The waiting staff were friendly and attentive which added to the enjoyment of the evening We will be going back & I would recommend you should visit too.

The food quality was only so-so, service was very slow though the pub was almost empty. The food took a very long time to arrive, the scampi was overdone, I ordered mushy peas and they brought garden peas, a very small portion./ Won't be going to this pub again.

I had a HOT chocolate but it was a COLD chocolate instead. The worker was rude and I had to pay £1.20 extra for marshmallows and cream. This is ABOMINABLE!

On a very wet day walking from the Corinium Museum the warmth and busyness of Keith's was attracting quite a few people. Quick and efficient service of coffee and cake/scone, and a lot more tables available than you can see from the street. Very wide selection of speciality teas and coffees on offer, together with attractive containers.

The pub/hotel is on the High Street, a few minutes walk to all the shops, restaurants and other pubs in Moreton-in-Marsh. We had a four-poster double room (no.3) on the first floor. Although quite compact, it had almost everything needed for our one-night stay. The bed was very comfortable, and a fan and oil heater were provided. The double-glazing was very efficient so the room was quiet even though it overlooked a busy road. The shower room was huge, with a powerful shower, lots of hot water, fluffy towels and a bathrobe. There was a kettle with tea etc and biscuits, but we couldn't work out how to use the Nespresso machine. There were enough sockets for our chargers. The breakfast choice was extensive and the food really excellent (best cheese omelette I have had in years; my husband's full veggie breakfast was also good). There is a small car park, although there is free parking on the high street anyway. The pub/hotel garden looked pretty, but it was raining, so we didn't try it.
