Excellent service and food. The menu is varied but not huge (which is a good thing!); the service was quick and efficient; the food was very tasty - the steak and ale pie was possibly the best pie I’ve eaten in a long while - and I’ve eaten a lot of pies!!

Despite having booked our table and ensured we were on time, as per the text and email reminders, we didn’t get our lunch for quite some time. Firstly no one came to get our order and then when they did - we sat waiting for over quarter of an hour with no drinks. In the end my husband had to go and ask for them. Yet waiting staff were hanging around, going for their lunches (I know they have to have breaks but in full view of customers waiting ??) Drinks finally arrived with profound apologies and were in fact deducted from the bill. The manageress (?) did come over several times to apologise for the delays but it was still 3/4 from entering until we got our food. The food itself was lovely, the vegetables accompanying the roast were outstanding. I could have done with more horseradish sauce with my beef but feared asking as the wait would have been way too long. The same issue then when we wanted dessert - no one around to ask for dessert menu. There were two younger waitresses who really didn’t seem to understand their roles. Frequently standing chatting completely oblivious to customers. The older staff more on the ball but not enough staff. I should say the Bell was not full either Food excellent. Service really needs attention. I think that was recognised by our drinks being given but it shouldn’t be like that.

We stayed in the Mole room in Stuart House which is just up the road from the main pub. The room was compact but very well designed and to a good standard with a handy little hidden car park. Stuart House is located closer to the centre of Stow which was perfect for our stay. The room did get warm, so be prepared. Breakfast at the main pub was great and well recommended.

We visited the Bell on Sunday and I have to say I was disgusted by the attitude of a member of staff a blonde lady with a black blazer/cardigan on. I later found out she is Management. She was grumpy, rude and glued to her phone which I feel is disrespectful for customers. I wanted to leave however my husband said we would sit outside with our dog. We took menus outside and found a lovely seat to sit and decide what we wanted. When we had chosen I went to the bar to order and she was still on her phone!. The lady on the bar served me quickly and with ease and I returned to my table. A lovely lady carol came out and got water and treats for the dog and made sure we had cutlery etc. Our food came quickly and I have to say was a fantastic roast dinner. One of the best we have had while out and about during the weekends. FANTASTIC. A young girl came and cleared our plates and although she was clearly learning she was lovely and chatty just seemed nervous. Despite all the good that happened during this visit I don't think we will return as our arrival and what we saw put a dampener on our whole visit.

We stayed at The Bell for a night while we were on holiday and making our way through the Cotswolds. The only room available at the time was The Broom Cupboard which I'm not going to lie is the smallest room hence the name that i've ever stayed in but it was an experience to say the least. Very quirky had everything you need to enjoy your stay, nice little touches but its a tight squeeze to move around hence it being half the price of all the other rooms. The only thing that bothered me was that the blowers from the kitchen was right beneath us and the sound was very loud lucky they stopped at 10pm because I'm a very light sleeper. We really did enjoy The Bell the food was fab at night and the staff were lovely.

Price wise I’m not sure what people expect in Stow and some people are too quick to moan, but won’t say anything when they’re there.I would recommend going there yourself and trying the food. Food underwhelming, poor serviceWe visited for a roast dinner on a Sunday evening. We each had a starter - they were bland (soup had no seasoning or flavour, avocado toast was smothered in oil), but something we could ignore if everything else went well. The service took a long time - ages to take our order, ages to deliver the starter, ages to collect the starter... our starter was delivered without cutlery. We asked for butter for the soup’s bread - the waitress never brought any. The roasts were disappointing, too - burnt Yorkshires, undercooked roast potatoes and a tiny amount of gravy (no gravy jug brought to the table as so many other restaurants do). Nobody checked to ask us how our meals were. After the bill was delivered (expensive considered we didn’t enjoy the food), we waited for 20 minutes before someone noticed we were still waiting to pay. Disappointing - we won’t be returning which is a shame considering we are locals.

We arrived and it seemed quite cramped - I don't believe all the tables were 2m apart. It took 15 minutes before we managed to get a waitress to come over to order drinks. Then another 10 to get her attention to order food. They brought the food which was okay, but they didn't ask if we needed anything else - had to go and find our own salt and vinegar!! We ran out of drinks half way through the meal and noone came to check if everything was okay or if we needed anymore drinks. In the end the bar man had to come out to see if we needed anything because our waitress was nowhere to be seen! Pretty disappointed, especially since we'd booked this as part of my 30th birthday weekend away.

Visited tonight as a family of four. Very rarely do we go to restaurants / pubs and come away still hungry. I’d ordered the broccoli, spinach and chickpea cassoulet and the portion was tiny! Whilst tasty the portion size was not worth £14.50 at all. My husband ordered the burger and whilst he said the produce was good it only came with a small portion of fries. No side salad or garnish at all. We had to desserts as we were all still hungry. One of these choices was the cheese board which for £9 came with 3 tiny slithers of cheese. Disappointing we were never asked at any point if we were satisfied with our meals as had we been asked we would have raised this issue with the waiting on staff. We understand the hospitality sector has had a difficult time over the last few months, but many diners are not in the position to be short changed either. Lovely setting but could have been so much better. We came away feeling disappointed on the whole.

Thoroughly disappointing. Underseasoned chicken liver parfait. The pigeon and black pudding starter was mostly black pudding. The black pudding was ok but the pigeon was on the tough side. The game pie was not worth 16.50, the menu didn’t name the game but a lot of the meat inside was dry. A charred shallots accompanied the dish which was basically inedible. Even the burger was tough and disappointing.

Very warm welcome and very Covid secure with plenty of space between the tables. Friendly staff and superb food. We both had the pork and thyme scotch eggs for starters and they were delicious, followed by the suet crust chicken and leek pie with creamy mash and greens, very tasty and very filling, sadly though we were both too full for dessert. Turned up and after making eye contact with 3 people the third came up and asked us about the booking and seated us. After looking at the menu and deciding another table was seated next to us and we overheard them being told there is no more roast dinners, but hadn’t come to inform us. We then asked and said what was that about roasts and he repeated it. We expressed our disappointment as that’s what we booked in for. We got a ‘sorry’ and he walked off. Not very impressed!! If you state to serve roast dinners until 6 then you should have enough for bookings you take.

We booked this pub after researching a few in the area, for a family of three including a 2 year old. The website said lunch menus (hot food including main meals) was served 12-5pm, fantastic we thought, we are away on holiday and wanted a late hot lunch instead of taking our two year old out for dinner late in the evening. We could only get in at 3.15pm so we wandered through the town to kill time. When we arrived we were given a warm welcome and sat down to our table, a high chair was provided. We sat for a good ten minutes looking at the menu, deciding what to eat. The lady who had welcomed us then came over to explain that we couldn’t have anything from the menus but they could make us a sandwich, stating that the lunch time service had been so busy the kitchen needed to prep for the evening. We explained that we wanted a hot, main meal for our toddler and questioned that the website clearly states hot food from the menu is served 12-5pm!!! She said it normally is but had been told five minutes ago it wasn’t possible and she was clearly very embarrassed. Very, very disappointing and we were left to find somewhere else to eat, late in the day, with a grumpy, hungry toddler in tow. It would have been better to call us and explain there wasn’t going to be any hot meals served all afternoon, instead of letting us turn up. Luckily for us, a pub just up the road welcomed us in. Be warned if wanting to dine mid afternoon, they will take your booking even if they don’t plan on serving you a full menu!

Thirst things first. It's a Youngs Pub with accomodation and therefore expectations should be managed. Having said that, the food is very, very good as are the Beers, the setting and indeed the building itself. We've got to say that initially the service (at lunchtime) was responsive, friendly & efficient. However as the day wore on, the staff started to disappear perhaps because they were checking in Hotel guests. Who knows.Anyway, you start feeling invisible and in fairness, we managed to get a table outside and it was a lovely sunny day, so we were in no rush. But if you are in a hurry for whatever reason, please bear this in mind.

We are always suspicious of the food in pub chain pubs. This was no exception. We booked a table for a late lunch after hiking on a Saturday. We were shown to our table and handed the menus. We chose our meals and later when the waiter came to take our order, he informed us our choices from the menu were not available at this time. Lucky us! Exactly what we wanted to order. Perhaps he should have started with that when he handed the menus. So we had to rethink our choices since most of the dishes left available sounded like "ready from frozen". We ordered the baked camembert to share for starters. It was an effortless overpriced normal camembert with one sprig of rosemary on top. No garlic. No effort put into it. And the apple chutney was not memorable (probably out from a jar). For mains, instead of lamb, we went for mash and sausages. Trying to keep it safe. The mash wasn't fresh but one of those supplied by a fodservices / catering company / "just add water" type. And the bangers, well, just sausages. Finally, the bill. We had to ask for the bill 4 times (and even to different staff since our waiter was busy doing something else). It took them a good 20 minutes to bring the bill. On reflection, we should have taken out the service charge. In summary, this is no gastro pub, just another pub from a chain. Caveat emptor.

Welcome wasn’t warm, tables are not socially distanced, toilets not clean. My hubby said after we left that the waitress was having a cigarette looking into the window of the men’s toilets, weird! Food was substandard. I had Chicken Milanese - a plate of grease. Hubby had lamb (£19!) & said it was cheap cut & tough. We told the waitress about the lamb, no apology & still on the bill. Not impressed. If it hadn’t been for the EOTHO discount I’d have complained! Don’t bother in my opinion...Sheep/Porch is much better food, better spaced, better service & a better price!

However, we then received an email (no phone call) about an hour and a half before we were due to arrive which informed us that The Bell had cancelled the booking. We then rang the pub and spoke to a polite member of staff who informed us that the booking system used by The Bell did not factor in the reduced number of tables at present and that the staff were having to cancel multiple bookings as a consequence. My wife and I both chose the fish finger sandwiches and that proved a wise choice. 2 large moist fish fillets arrived in 2 chunky slices of crusty bread with a liberal spread of tartare sauce and a side of frites. They were delicious and superbly cooked and presented. A Baked Alaska was shared for dessert and the whole meal was best we have had for some time. Somebody in the kitchen knows their trade and this was much appreciated. 2 soft drinks and the bill was £30 which was EXCELLENT value. Would not hesitate to return here.

We stayed two nights at The Bell and had a wonderful time. The rooms were very well decorated with extra touches that other places don't think of - my husband was very impressed with the small decanter of complimentary port in the room. We stayed above the pub in one of the superior rooms and is was very warm and cosy. We had dinner on the first night which was very nice indeed, pork belly and a burger, cooked to perfection. Breakfast was included in the price and was a feast. There were about 5 or 6 different choices of hot breakfast but you could order "off menu" within reason. Toast, cerals, fruit, juices were available on a help yourself basis. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and always willing to help. We will love to visit again.

We have been to The Bell with friends a few years ago which was excellent, so we decided to try it again. Although still very popular we found the meals variable. The chicken breast and steak suet pie which two of us had was excellent, however the burgers which two had were very grisly inside. On a positive note the Manager quickly offered to only charge for one as the sides were very good.

Had dinner here, a saturday night so it was busy hence reserving a table. Had to ask for menus (which was totally different to website) ordered a bottle of wine & a bottle of prosecco, I dont think I have ever been left to open both bottles ourselves, as it was just 'plonked' on table! If service was as good as the food it would be a great place.

Service fantastic and beautiful views from the front of the pub. If you are going this way most definitely worth a visit. Will definitely be going back.

We stayed for a couple of nights at The Bell in a well appointed room (Room 3) with a large comfortable bed and en-suite shower room. Staff were welcoming, friendly and well trained. In the evening the chef served us with good quality pub classics and locally sourced food with a good choice of breakfast in the morning. In our opinion a well managed pub with rooms ideal for a stay in the Cotswolds.

We chose The Bell at Stow because we wanted a tasty, hearty and reasonable meal in a homely setting. Our expectations were massively exceeded and the meal, the atmosphere and the service was all flawless. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area looking for a very tasty and filling meal with great service in a warm setting.

We always have a great night here. The choice of meals, starters, sharers, beer and wine is really good! I’ve brought guests from out of town and my husband and I sometimes just walk over for a drink, a meal or Sunday lunch. It never disappoints and the menu is varied at different times of the year. The service is quick and attentive and we really enjoy it.

Came here for dinner on a chilly winter's evening. The food was good pub grub (we had the sausages & mash and slow-roast lamb shoulder, followed by the crumble). Nice atmosphere with a fire at one side and a live guitarist later in the evening. Perfectly suitable for well-behaved dogs (we saw 4-5!).

3/5 stars at best. Lovely pub with a nice atmosphere however came for the Sunday roast (which has been highlighted in the reviews). A disappointment to say the least. The vegetables were lovely yet paying the price for beef was a bit of a let down. I have never had a cut of meet with as much fat on it as what I was served and the Yorkshire pudding was dripping in oil (literally squeezed it and oil came oozing out). Was going to stay for dessert however the lack of table service (I. E. Checking on the meal half way through and asking how it was upon collection of the plates) made us decide otherwise... Additionally this menu was not even offered to us. We werent even asked how the food was. The Sheep, on the other hand, was a lovely meal with exceptional service.

Met a friend here for dinner. We had booked a table and asked for a cosy one but despite this we were by the door with the cold draft every time it opened. No one came to take our order until we got up and asked, it took 25 minutes to get our drinks which were then wrong. Ordered food. Very mediocre, had a hair in mine. Fish was greasy the rest was just ok. Certainly not worth £14. We Had to ask for dessert menu after waiting ages again. Ordered a cappuccino, it took ages, wasn’t a cappuccino and half of it was spilt in the saucer and despite pointing it out just got a “sorry” no offer to replace them. Had to ask twice for the bill which took 20 minutes again. Customer in the bar are strong next to the table we were eating at so it just felt horrible. The service is dire, the staff are useless. I’d avoid it. We did mention the bad service but no one seemed to care.

There was a wait for food, but marginal and expected due to the amount of diners.

Booked a table for Sunday roast because the website says it serves from 12-6pm and driven 6 hours to Stow. When we arrived we are told the kitchen is closed until 5pm but it would be open in 20 mins-( iwe came in at 4.20pm) The pub has a large group of babies and adults and 2 other couples so we are given a table by the main door, which is really cold & dimly lit to peruse the menu while we wait - to be fair they did go and get us some drinks but that is where the customer service ended. So we waited 40 minutes and eventually go up to order after a table of 6 come in and sit down and the waitress is taking their order and ignoring us- we go up to the bar to be told there are no roast dinners - the bar man then says - We have the wrong menu anyway! At no point did they say to us that there were no roast dinners so had sat there for 40 mins for nothing. We went up the road to Porch House in the end and had delightful service and a meal.

This is a nice cosy pub in a beautiful part of the Cotswolds, the food is great - we had a Saturday lunch and I would recommend the Lamb and Beef pie. However, the service was average and had to wait ages to be served once we sat down and the starters took about 40 mins to arrive. The menu is pricey but what you could expect in Stow, shame about the service.

Went for dinner the two of us and our dog. They were very dog friendly (gave us a dog biscuit which was nice) and the pub had a lovely cosy feel. We were seated and given menus then had to catch someone’s attention to order some drinks as had been left unattended for about 15mins. Anyway our order was taken we had the Camembert sharer (£14) to start and both had the pork belly (£18.50 was a bit overpriced) both dishes were tasty and presented nicely. We weren’t offered any other drinks and noticed other people were getting up to ask for more drinks and the table next to us were sat chatting for ages and their plates hadn’t been cleared. The meal was decent pub food in a lovely pub but the service was lacking except for the gentleman who appeared to be the owner or manager, the other 2 young girls were oblivious. Regardless would recommend the food.
