Took more than an hour to bring our food. Burgers were burn, Sunday roast really bad.

Stopped on the off chance for a bite to eat, food was good and tasty.

Shame new owners not the same used noel arms instead

Had a great roast pork belly. Nice environment. Service left a little to be desired (attention to detail, serving times, serving what was asked for), but overall was really nice.

Stopped in to check out what and if anything had been changed from the previous landlord.all I can say is wow 😲 new pool table upstairs,fruit machine in the bar and great new manager, very friendly and informative. The fact the restaurant is now separated from the pub area is awesome. Still serving the locals favorite beers and also offering the owners very own brand of vodka (sweet shop vodka) very tasty may I add. All round ten out of ten experience

Dropped in for lunch. Great welcome from friendly and attentive bar staff. Good value Pub food, with good menu choices. We shall be back!

A little gem in Chipping Campden. The food was excellent as was the service and the restaurant attached to the pub had a lovely atmosphere. The pork belly and Beef pie were excellent accompanied by Australian Shiraz.

I visited yesterday and enjoyed a fantastic trio sunday roast with beef, turkey and pork. The food was hot and flavourful, and arrived quickly. The staff are all so friendly and attentive, and have an amazing selection of drinks available. The pub and beer garden are beautiful, and they even have a pool table upstairs!! I was told the pub recently reopened under new ownership, and they are doing a fantastic job! I’ll definitely become a regular here!

Had lunch at the Red Lion. The current team had only just taken over and was very impressed. Food is standard pub grub - very tasty and generous servings. Nice glass of pinot Grigio and a good pint of Guinness! Outside space is large, well covered and with heating so you can sit outside even when it’s a bit chilly. Definitely worth a visit

My wife and I visited on a Sunday for lunch and we were genuinely surprised by how good the food was. We had the pork belly bites to start, which were perfectly crisp and juicy. Only criticism was that it could have used a bit more of the sweet source, but still delicious otherwise. What we were both hugely surprised was though was the quality of the roast beef lunch we both had. Normally pub roasts can be a bit of a mixed bag, but every element was nigh on perfect. The beef was cooked brilliantly, the Yorkshire puds were light and fluffy, and there was a tonne of veg that was all flavoursome and properly cooked, too. Even the gravy was bang on! We’d honestly travel again from Milton Keynes for the Sunday roast…. a million stars!

Our Chipping Campden writing group chose to go to a new venue for our Christmas lunch and get together. Words fail me due to this awful experience. We had hoped to eat together. This proved beyond the scope of the kitchen despite having 8/10 members previously booking their choices. Discovering a slug in the water jug after many of us had partaken of a glass was disgusting. Removing the jug was not sufficient. We had to ask for new glasses!! A simply health and safety action. My meal ordered from their menu was £16. It comprised of a bun with a bratwurst sausage drizzled with cheese and a plateful of chips! £16?? I returned it uneaten. Despite several members trying to contact this establishment, all emails are ignored. Shame on them.

Absolutely first class proper authentic pub. Warm welcome - dog friendly - from locals and staff, food and beer excellent. Flagstone floor, limestone walls, beams and log burning stove. Bit of Steely Dan playing ‘Peg’ softly in the background. What’s not to like? Highly recommended

Had Sunday roast here. It was ok. Not great, not bad, just ok. Inexperienced staff kind of made the visit less enjoyable than we had expected.

We had a lovely meal here, the food was delicious and well priced. The service was friendly and the place was comfortable.

Tipico pub inglese, dalla bella atmosfera e con personale giovanile e sorridente. Buono il fish and chips, porzione robusta sì ma non esagerata, pesce croccante, patate forse non all'altezza del piatto. Abbiamo atteso un po' l'arrivo dell'ordine (comunque nulla di esagerato) e per questo ci è stato offerto da bere. Camino acceso e avventori simpatici e informali.

Lovely late lunch (3pm) on a Tuesday. Lots of gluten free options available. We were warmly greeted and our dog was made very welcome. The Cajun burger and chicken and chorizo skewers both served with fries were freshly cooked and very tasty. Not all pubs and cafes in the area are open on weekdays and to find one so welcoming and dog friendly was amazing.

After a very disappointing meal at a nearby hotel we walk down to the Red Lion. When we arrived the atmosphere was buzzing the owner was very welcoming and friendly and the menu looked good. We ordered and enjoyed a lovely meal and were not disappointed at all it was delicious food well cooked. We returned on our second night staying in Chipping Camden and the atmosphere was just as good and so was the food. Highly recommended.

Sitting in the garden, we enjoyed a selection of lunchtime dishes, which were all excellent. The town is beautiful and the pub also. The garden, a little more utilitarian. We had a very dozy barman, who must have been on his first day. Inexplicably there didn't seem to be any local Cotswold beer on tap, and there are many excellent breweries only a short distance away. But overall, the food won out - that was the highlight.

The Red Lion is a classic style, traditional pub with the bar sort of split to serve different areas of the pub. They do a good range of food and “beer snacks” without committing cardinal sin of becoming a foodie pub - ‘cos I hate that! This is a great place for a beer and the service when we visited was excellent.

lovely building, spacious rooms, covered courtyard and back garden with benches. an old coaching inn, I think. some excellent choices of food - i am on a strictly limited diet and found the vegetarian options too spicy for me, so they very kindly made me a special salad. good beer, reasonable prices, good service and heaters in case of British weather!

Waited nearly an hour for a high priced but poorly executed burger. Ran out of salt dispenser apparently , left to remove the tab from the sauce bottle. There are plenty of decent good value eateries in the Cotswolds. This isn't one of them. Should have just bought a burger from the street stall.

We were staying in Chipping Camden for three nights and discovered this lovely pub on our first day and kept coming back during our stay. A fabulous welcome from Becky the landlady who told us about lots of walks nearby and spent time with us explaining where to go and how to get back, so very friendly. On our second night we had dinner there which was all freshly cooked and delicious washed down with some excellent beers and wine. Looking forward to coming back here!

The Red Lion is the perfect place to spend a sunny afternoon. The outdoor garden is massive (recently expanded a great deal post-covid) and the burger was one of the best I've had. Great spot!

The red lion staff make this a real gem. Took our poochies and the first thing they did, even before beer for me, was treats for the dogs. Brill seats to people watch, great atmosphere overall nice spot and lovely hosts.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights recently while attending a wedding nearby. All of the staff were very friendly and welcoming, and there was a good selection of drinks at the bar. The breakfasts were also very good and served quickly. However we were disappointed with the cleanliness of the bathroom, and the minimal daily cleaning of the room. As far as we could see, the housemaid had just spent a few seconds each day making the bed! The tea/coffee cups in our room were never cleaned or replaced, nor were the shower gel and shampoo tubes. Although we received one batch of replacement towels after one day, the dirty towels were left to pile up in the bathroom until we left after 3 nights!The bathroom sink was definitely not cleaned during our stay either.We weren’t expecting the quality of The Ritz at this price - the room was also very narrow as you can see from the photo - but we did expect the room and bathroom to be cleaned properly each day to a minimum standard, and dirty items removed and replaced.

Lovely, traditional pub right in the middle of the high street. Good selection of beers, with small but decent seating areas. Basic bar menu, burgers, streaks etc but all done to an excellent standard. Very friendly staff.

We had the cobs one with ham the other beef excellent washed down with cider. We didn't want a full dinner and this fit the bill. Old world typical English pub. Worth a visit.

Planned to do some hiking and seeing the Cotswolds and thought Chipping Campden would be a good base. It was. Lovely little town. The Red Lion Inn was ok. Clean and breakfast each morning was fine though I think that I would stay somewhere else in CC next time just to compare.

Visited with friends hoping for a pleasant break in the Cotswolds. On arrival it was the only hostelry in main street that was closed.Found someone who showed us to our room. You enter via a seperate building and are met by the smell of mould. Rooms whilst clean had paint flaking from the woodwork and windows had a very amateurish form of secondary glazing. no evening food available (on days we stayed) although would not have wanted to dine. Everywhere appeared very run down and place needs complete refresh. It was difficult to see if the place improved in the evening as we went out to eat and relax.There didn't appear to be any management onsite and one would be embarrased if any foreign tourist chose to stay here.

Just a regular pub. we had to wait a good while for the food. The food was not bad but it was not good as well. The staff was friendly.

Al día siguiente llegó el desayuno. . . Cuando llegamos a la sala de desayunos, no había música, el personal temporal (llamado en el último minuto que nos dijeron) aún estaba configurando cuando llegó justo después de las 0800. We liked this so much we came here twice. This is the "Real Deal" for people seeking an old, very friendly pub with excellent food. The cheese plate appetizer, salad and burger were especially good. IIf you are looking for this kind of old, authentic, friendly pub with excellent, reasonably price food, we strongly recommend the Red Lion Inn. It's definitely worth a drive to get here.

We came here for a meal at 6pm on a Thursday and we were the only people there for over an hour so there wasn't much of an atmosphere. The food was nice but my children didn't like the chips. The waitress was very attentive which wasn't surprising as we were the only ones there!!

This is a four hundred year plus old pub in the heart of Chipping Camden. We only had breakfast at the Red Lion Inn, but the menu looked interesting and prices were quite reasonable for lunch and dinner. I didn't really enjoy the full English breakfast with tomatoes, mushrooms, and baked beans, along with sausage, bacon, and a fried egg so the next 3 mornings I just had eggs with either bacon or sausage. Guests are asked to turn in a breakfast form the evening before indicating what time they will be having breakfast and choosing what they want. Service was prompt and pleasant. They also had juice, cereals, and containers of yogurt.

Had a lovely family meal. The Red Lion provides lovely home cooked food for a reasonable price. Portions are very large. Very friendly staff and wonderful service.

A reasonably varied menu we four had differing meals all were fine. Some deserts are home made which we tried all good. The wine list is not extensive but perfectly adequate reasonably priced for a restaurant.

Not really much more to say other than if you get the chance to stay you won’t be disappointed unless you’re expecting double glazing and a huge bedroom in a 17th century grade 2 listed building.

We ate here on the first night of our holiday. A nice pub but was very quit and only saw one member of staff. Meal was v average, fajita's were very ordinary and the fish cakes were very similar. Chips too thick and too pale! Would not eat there again. We returned for the folk night on the 3rd Thursday of the month and had a couple of drinks and this was a lovely evening with local musicians, very informal and very welcoming. Would recommend

Stopped for lunch after a walk in the Cotswolds, the waitress was very friendly and the restaurant was nicely decorated, and the open fire is lovely! Portions were good and there was a good selection on the lunch menu.

Came across this pub whilst out visiting the Cotswolds and had a fantastic pub lunch - really tasty homemade soup and attentive staff. Very traditional and enjoyed how welcome dogs were too!

Stopped in for dinner on a Sunday evening. Nice cosy pub with excellent home cooked food. Huge portions.

Chipping Campden does not have many restaurants. We were glad to find the Red Lion Inn just down the street from our B&B.; We ate there twice and had good food and service both nights. I rate it at 4.5 out of 5.

Visited for lunch - first venue visited in Chipping Campden and made a lovely first impression. Lovely old traditional pub - lovely lunch and great friendly service - nothing too much trouble, Obviously very popular so very pleased we had booked Sunday lunch for 7 of us the next day. Next day another story!! Arrived at appointed time - shown upstairs to a gloomy private area, table dirty and unlaid and complete with large caged bird in the corner - with all debris from cage on carpet below. Not happy - only other area offered was tables put together in cramped corner. Diners were telling us how good the food was but the caged bird - honestly? Would you want to eat your lunch next to that? Better off giving it to a sanctuary I think and upping you game. Lovely pub, lovely location - shame. We left and luckily found somewhere lovely where we ate, stayed drinking all afternoon and spent about £250. Their loss.

We arrived in there just walking through the village. The staff was quite nice and cordial especially the young girl who served us most of the time.. The food was quite delicious and the atmosphere really English..

we visited on a Thursday night. The pub was very quiet. We were served by a very nice young girl, she was very helpful. The food was decent and well priced. the pub is very nice with an open fire.

Had a snack lunch and glass of wine on arrival at chipping Camden. Lovely friendly service and pub landlord also taxi driver who took us to our restaurant a couple of miles away that evening. Excellent will eat here next time.

This is a pub that does food, reasonably well. The food was good but nothing to rave about. The service was attentive which was nice. Not a bad place to go especially if you like to try different eateries when visiting an area as we were.
