The Kings Head Inn in Cotswold

Lunch with my mother. 2 starters each. All 4 were spectacular. Chichory salad, burrata salad, devilled kidneys and beef carpaccio. Glass of wine each. £60. Ok there was a cider and fries chucked in for my yobbish tastes. Between us we have about 50 years experience in hospitality all over Europe. But this was best pub lunch in over 20 years, for me.

Had a Sunday lunch there and found the service excellent with very friendly and welcoming staff The roast beef and Yorkshire with plentiful veggies was very well presented and great flavour The atmosphere was very casual and relaxed A great place for family occasions

Our first time at this location, but we will most definitely be back. Excellent lunch, great atmosphere and great service. Think we will try Sunday lunch next time, to see what’s that’s like. Thank you for a lovely meal.

Fabulous midweek lunchtime staff served exceptional cuisine. Highly recommend the venison or pheasant if on the seasonal menu. Delightful pub for tourists and locals. Classic English pub without the makeover most pubs have experienced.

A must place restaurant/ pub to visit in the Cotswolds. The wine, beer, spirits selection is superb. The food is wonderful too! And as an added pleasure the toiletries, I can only comment on the mens room, are superb too! Staff friendly and could not be more helpful.

This place is simply superb on every front. We stayed 4 nights and everything was simply perfect. The room was so comfortable and quiet, including the best shower we have had anywhere in the world - seriously! Breakfast was so good that there was simply no need to eat again until dinner. The food at dinner was also outstanding, great choices, we both had something different on all 4 nights. The atmosphere in the pub with the inglenook fire and wonderful staff is just magical. And they provide three guided walking routes of either 2, 4 or 6 miles all from the pub so never needed the car from when we arrived. Highly recommended all round, thank you to the amazing staff. See you again.

Booked a table for 2 at this lovely pub and restaurant for New Year 31 Dec 2024. On arrival, they couldn't find our booking. That would be something to do with the fact that we had booked for 31 Dec 2025! Rob (the ever helpful manager) sorted it all out and managed to squeeze us in to recover the situation. So helpful and nothing too much trouble. Food and service was excellent. A must place to visit. Recommended +++++

The whole place was so quintessentially Christmas - it ticked every Christmas box going! We stayed for one night during the week of Christmas with my husband and in-laws. Both rooms were spacious and had en-suites with toiletries and your disposable. We went down to the pub for dinner and the food was sublime. A thoughtful menu and the wait staff were speedy, great and helpful. The pub was actually pumping for a Tuesday before Christmas! The only thing that let it down was the front of house staff who checked us out were a little stand off ish. A thank you for staying or a wave at the door! Otherwise brilliant stay. Thank you!

We Were recommended to go to the kings head and we were not disappointed. The atmosphere was fantastic helped by the staff especially Dougie and Louise. The food was delicious as was the wine. We talked to so many of the other people in the restaurant is was very chilled and laid back. They also have a dog friendly policy although we did not have our dog with us.

Me and my partner booked a room for a group of 30 the day before our wedding and we could not have had a better evening. The organisation, service and food was impeccable and we could not recommend them highly enough. All of our guests were highly complementary of the food and everyone had a great evening. Huge thank you to Rob for being so accommodating and friendly with us.

Lovely cosy Inn with plenty of outside seating when weather permits Our room was above the pub, light and pleasantly decorated, crisp bed linen and soft white towels, room and shower room all very clean. We had a lovely stay at the most excellent Kings Head. The bar was buzzing and the food was delicious. We were looked after by the friendly and welcoming team - thank you! Lovely meal and great beers and wine on offer too. Catered for our lad well and the grown ups had Pigeon, Venison, chicken and mushroom pie and the half chicken. Nice restaurant, great pub with decent atmosphere.

A lovely Village setting complements this super Pub. Two couples had an excellent lunch in a relaxed atmosphere. The food menu is very varied and sensibly priced. It was a beautiful day and the outside seating of the Pub looked very attractive. The interior is extremely pleasant with the tables set well apart to ensure personal conversation. Great range of beers, did we enjoy our visit ? You bet.

This is one of our favourite pubs in The Cotswolds, we come here to eat at least once every time we’re in the area. The food, premises and hospitality are first rate. Six of us had a lovely lunch in the garden earlier this week.

Met a load of old mates for lunch last Sunday. Such a great country pub and the food was generous and really good. My children loved the roast beef and for the first time were a little too full for pudding.

The most expensive Courtyard room is SO damp that it is not fit for habitation. My partner's asthma was triggered it is so bad and we hardly had any sleep as the mattress and bedding was so cold and damp. The furniture and carpet were worn threadbare, dirty and stained. We were moved to another room with a better atmosphere but the blind was dirty with black spores and the pillows upon inspection were covered in yellow stains. The whole hotel lacks attention to detail with grubby worn furniture inside and outside in the garden. The white furniture, positioned next to a dumping ground for a flowerbed, needs pressure washing as does the cane furniture which is growing moss. Very disappointing, very expensive for the standard. Needs a lot of attention to bring it up to a reasonable standard. Such a shame as the majority of staff were friendly and helpful and the food was generally good.

6 of us met for lunch yesterday in a family gathering. Some from overseas. The food was ok but the service was not so good. I was ordering a scoop of ice cream and asked the young male waiter to repeat he flavors. He rolled his eyes in front of our entire party. I do have to ask what the 12.5% service charge that is added to the final account is for. It really put a bad tone to the whole experience. By the way the female staff were fine.

The food was absolutely excellent as was the venue and most of the staff were friendly and efficient. The service and attitude however from the Waitress was very poor, she forgot the nibbles we ordered and our starters were delivered to the table before we could remind her. A drink we ordered was not delivered, when we reminded her, she said she had forgotten but there was no apology and finally the coffee we ordered never arrived. A disappointing experience on an otherwise lovely evening.

5*! I went here today with my family for lunch. It was a last minute booking. They moved tables around to accommodate my request for 6 of us to dine at a certain time as online showed as not available. Was impressed and grateful! We loved sitting in the restaurant which was slightly quieter than the bar area. Beautifully decorated pub and clean and tidy loos! The service from the waiter and waitresses was 1st class. Lovely menu which wasn't too big or over complicated, absolutely delicious food, gorgeous wine and fab ambience. Have booked to return next week. Thankyou for a wonderful lunch! Staying in Chadlington for a few days and booked Sunday lunch. We were not disappointed Very friendly team, with a warm friendly welcome. The food was great I had beef husband had pork. The team work very well together. The atmosphere is great. It gets very busy but not noisy. If ever we are this way again, will definitely go back

Stayed 2 nights in very comfortable accommodation in the inn itself (mind your head on many low beams!) and enjoyed two dinners and a lunch as well as breakfasts. The KH is keeping up high food standards, and the main bar with its giant fireplace is as cosy as ever.

Highly recommend this pub/inn. Staff, food and ambience excellent. Comfortable stay and great walks nearby. Will definitely return soon.

Really enjoyed our 3 course lunch. Good service with pleasant staff and reasonable main course prices. Also enjoyed the house red. I'm not known for eating all my meals out but loved the open coronation chicken sandwich with tasty fries. Snails were a change from the norm but would have preferred a softer bread to soak up the garlic sauce. Clotted cream ice cream- what's not to like?

Enjoyable evening meal. Very good menu choices and great food. Would recommend but felt a tad pricey. Car parking interesting. Had to ask a local where best to park as small pub car park full. Again would thoroughly recommend.

I would say that this is a great pub. But not excellent. The service was friendly but chaotic and all the food was great. Really nice position and location as well. Really good but not five stars.

Perfect place to meet up with friends for a few drinks and dinner. Very welcoming and friendly staff. Great selection of wines, beers and ales. The meal was delicious and they went out of their way to cater for my wife's food allergies. We stayed overnight. The rooms were lovely, very comfortable and exceptionally clean. A big thank you to Archie and all of his staff for making our stay so memorable and look forward to returning in the future.

We've been going to The King's Head for a few years for a large family Christmas gathering. It's always good. This year again, the food was exceptional & delicious. The service was excellent & atmosphere cosy & comfortable. It's a super pub & place to dine.

Booked a table here because we were looking for somewhere to have dinner within 20 minutes of Upper Slaughter, where we were staying the night. Came across The Kings Head on Google maps and were so glad we did, as it was excellent in every way. It was so nice to visit in December and see the lovely Christmas decorations the pub had up. The place is warm and cosy and the staff friendly and efficient. Highly recommend the escargots, pheasant breast and creme brulee. A perfect dinner and visit!

Great atmosphere, friendly polite service and super dog friendly. There was a good selection on the menu at a reasonable price. Lunchtime is best for those wanting a roast.

This was a convenient place for a 6-monthly meeting for lunch with my cousin. The staff were welcoming and the service was good. The atmosphere was warm and convivial. We both had cheese souffle starters which were strangely swimming in a creamy soup which made the souffles soggy, but they were tasty. My main course was roast venison which was tough, barely warm and inedible. My cousin's venison and mushroom pie was better but still with tough meat. The green vegetables in both our dishes were under-cooked. When we had finished the waitress asked if everything was OK. I explained about my half-finished plate and the inedible meat. She said she would tell the chef and that was the last we heard of it. We shall not go there again.

We had a very nice lunch in this cosy pub. We all had goat's cheese paninis with chips. It was a cold day and they warmed us up nicely.

Visited here on Saturday afternoon whilst staying nearby. An absolute gem which was so cosy with the fire roaring away. We ended up having some bar nibbles with our drinks as we could see the amazing quality of the food being served to the nearby tables. We had unfortunately already sorted our dinner out for that day so couldn’t partake in a full meal but would definitely visit again when in the area

The worst smell meets you upon entry! Fish or dirt! We used to come here years ago when they had a fabulous chef that went on to open his own restaurant. We thought we would try it again. Well lunch was absolutely dreadful! Hamburger had something added to the meat! Tasted awful. Croutons for soup were fried in old oil and the soup was definitely not fresh! We ended being sick from the food! I am very sensitive to oils that are reused! It ruined my two days in the Cotswolds. Beautiful place but don’t eat there! Just go for a pint!

Absolutely fabulous ! We had a meal here with friends on the 20th October, the overall experience was superb from start to finish. Beautiful pub, attentive and super helpful staff, great atmosphere and the food was outstanding !! If we ever in town again, we’ll be sure to visit again. Highly recommended !

Was looking to come to the Cotswold’s for a week and also to visit the sights of the show Clarkson’s Farm. I noticed a photo of Jeremy online with a bandaged thumb in the kings. So booked a table hoping to see the star. Once seated by lovely attentive staff, we ordered food, Wow the food was fantastic and the surrounding’s delightful. The King's Head is a hidden treasure. We stayed here for my birthday weekend after having eaten twice before when visiting the Cotswolds. Everything was of the best quality, the rooms are spacious, tastefully decorated and have every thing you could wish for, all of the highest quality. Even the toiletries are blended individually for the establishment. The food is exceptional, breakfasts are excellent and vary for all tastes with an extensive selection. The food in the evening is of a high quality with a menu which is just varied enough, fine dining but without the expense really. Every touch has been thought of, the flowers my husband ordered through them were tasteful and beautiful. Even when I'd forgotten my phone charger, they helped straight away with a replacement. We will definitely be staying again and can't wait. Thank you to all the staff for such a fantastic stay. Tracey and Andre Meehan
