South Cerney Tandoori in Cotswold

Fantastic meal out with great service. We eat plenty of Indian food and this restaurant is high on the list; food tasted fresh and it was all full of flavour. It’s BYOB and it’s only a short walk to the co-op.

Updated Oct 24. Oh..wow.. prices have risen 3 times in the last year or so.. onion bhajis used to be £3:50 now £6..and half the size..! Prawn puree £7:50..what..I Sat in a very nice Indian a few weeks ago and paid way less.. crazy times. Food is pretty good. Instead of a take away we dined in for a change. £48 for two. 4 poppadoms and pickle (combined £8) onion bhaji and chicken chat..(£9) then balti prawn with garlic and chilli and mixed balti,again with garlic and chilli..they include nan...£1 each supplement for the slight additions.. supposedly £25 for the two mains..by my calculations we were overcharged by £6..I did question it.. no joy!!!

Ordered a takeaway as my son & I were staying at a local holiday park. We ordered over the phone and staff member was very friendly. We were advised delivery would be around up to an hour, but we were hoping it would be sooner and good news, restaurant called us after 30 mins to say delivery on its way 🙂 Food was piping hot and very tasty, definitely would recommend this restaurant.

Takeaway: Paratha was a blob of greasy dough. No crispy bubbles. Papadums were crispy but tasted sour like oil was old or cheap. Lamb was stringy and didn't taste of lamb. Raita is bright pink! Chicken is OK. But lime pickle is sludgy and not hot. Most of the meal is now in my bin. 2nd time I've tried this restaurant. Won't be a third. Can't see them lasting long in a part of the world where quality of Indian food is often superb.

We had a great experience a few days ago. The waiter was attentive and friendly from the moment we walked in. The food arrived promptly, and we were particularly impressed with the onion bhajis and butter chicken—both were absolutely delicious! Overall, a good dining experience that we'd happily repeat.

If you are looking for authentic food? This is not the place. Don’t go. None of the items was good. We were four people and we ordered 5-6 dishes and nothing was original. Waiting time was too much that too when only table to serve.

I ordered the Merg Makani it was the strangest one I’ve ever had. Super sweet, yellow sauce and made with coconut. I ordered it as the recommended dish after being told the Butter Chicken (my staple) was very spicy. I wondered why on earth it was recommended after I asked about the Korma. My husbands chicken tandoor / tikka was rubbery in texture and lacking flavour. We would not visit this Indian restaurant again, honestly the supermarket Indian meal kits are significantly more satisfying than our order was.

Why is the tikka masala so red, way too much food colouring and dried up chicken not good, chicken Balti no flavour and too many onions not enough other veg. Rice very yellow yet again too much food colouring and bland. Not sure where the good reviews come from feel sorry for locals having poor takeaway. Waste of money.

One of the worst Indian takeaway’s we’ve ever had. Staying nearby in a holiday park, we were all really looking forward to a nice takeaway! Unfortunately the whole meal was a massive letdown, quality was subpar and the guy had bad attitude on the phone when ordering, like we were an inconvenience. Clearly capitalising on holiday trade and not looking for repeat custom. Expensive and not worth it.

Very dry chicken in my chicken tika rice was OK though

We had a family 6 person takeaway and all agreed excellent tasty curry. Possibly best we have had. Great portions but delicious food. Added poppodoms at no cost. Naan breads were lovely. Loads of chicken in the meat dishes and veggie biryani dish was great.

We ordered Uber Eat, food came on time, dishes are still very warm and taste great! Very reasonable price, worth for trial!

This is our go to restaurant as the food is always delicious. We have never had anything bad here, always really good and generous portions. Last night was no exception, all dishes were lovely and the lamb was so tender. We live in Tetbury and in our opinion, this is the best Indian for miles and miles!

Good food. Prices reasonable. Service as you might expect. Wasn't much atmosphere but was a 5pm booking and nobody else there besides pickups

We ordered a curry and were advised online it would take 1 and 30 minutes. When we called after this time had passed, they advised it was on its way, no apology. We waited for over 2 hours and 15 minutes till it finally arrived at 11.30pm. There was no apology for the delay, very disappointing as we have ordered from this takeaway before, unfortunately it has put us off.

Whilst staying in the area with friends we decided to order a takeaway. Collection time given & was spot on, food tasty, hot & good portion. Definitely can recommend.

Just another curry house this is not. Everything we had was delicious! Not fatty sauces or fatty pieces of meat - just lots of flavour. I couldn’t recommend this place more. We ordered and got it delivered and it came a little earlier than expected - always a delight too! Thank you.

The food tasted nice. The wait time was ridiculous considering there were only 3 people in the entire place, everything was overpriced. The atmosphere was dull and we had a horrible bright light over our heads the whole time. The receipt was just written on a piece of paper with practically no cost breakdown and was barely understandable. Won't be back

One of the most disappointing and infuriating meal I’ve had. Excruciating wait time even though there was only 3 people including myself and my partner. Astronomical pricing considering the service and wait times for both receiving and ordering the food. They ran out of some some drinks by 7:30. The staff also had some attitude.

Lovely curry we all enjoyed our meal. All the curries were cooked to perfection with fresh ingredients. Very relaxing evening.

The food is okay, but my partner grew up in an Indian community and understood the disparaging comments the staff were saying about their customers! If you want to go somewhere where the staff are discussing what they'd like to do your wife or that your tip isn't as fat as your boyfriend, then this is the place to go!

Visited here for the first time for my husbands birthday. Service good and bringing your own drinks was a bonus. Food good but have tasted better. I guess it all depends on your choice of food.

Lovely fresh food, very tasty. Had a curry called Villa, simply down its name. Was perfect and the cheese naan was the best I’ve had. Also lamb pakora starter, never seen it anywhere before but well worth a try

I can’t praise this curry house enough. This is a genuine review and certainly NOT paid - we are on holiday. We had the most amazing curry! We ordered a little too much so had curry again the following day. I have to say for us this was one of the best curries we have ever had. The restaurant is BYO but there is a shop just round the corner. Thank you so much! We think your curries are awesome!

I am blown away at all facets of this meal. I got the Butter Chicken with rice. From the second I stepped into the restaurant, I had a great experience. Mo was a pleasure and the food only compliments it. Thank you guys for an amazing meal and experience!

Ordered here on a holiday break. Food was very average, certainly not going to be taking any memories away. Picked up our ordered only to get back and find they hadn't included a rice that we paid for. We ordered a decent amount so you cant check everything before leaving. I wouldn't recommend this place unfortunately.

Always had a great takeaway. But this evening it was obviously reheated leftovers. I praise where praise is due but....I had to ring and explain that this takeaway was not up to standard. Within 45 minutes of my phonecall a super hot replacement was delivered. See, it doesn't hurt to complain in a nice manner. Thank you South Cerney Tandoori.

On arrival, we were not too impressed with the outside but once inside, our initial reaction changed. We received a warm welcome and were seated at a comfortable, clean table. The food itself was delicious and very enjoyable. Definitely a place to visit for a wide range of dishes plus you can bring your own choice of beverage. On payment, we were given an After Eight mint which was a thoughtful gesture and very much appreciated. It's these little things that make you feel valued as a customer.

I didn’t know indian food could be so bland. This should be jam packed with flavour. But it’s not. I ordered 2 dishes. The butter chicken and rogan josh. The only flavour of the josh is spice. That’s it. The butter chicken a mild kick. It tastes like a cheap microwave meal only that a microwave has more flavour. This is woeful. I’m terribly dissatisfied. Won’t be ordering from here again. The only positive is that it was piping hot on arrival. Probably because they don’t get any other customers.

Onion Bhaji starter was crispy, tasty and plentiful although the King Prawn Dhansak was decent enough, if a bit sweet and sickly but I'm sure I ordered a King Prawn Bhuna, which the waiter insisted that I didn't. I don't think I'll be rushing back.

We ordered an Indian from here for delivery as we were on holiday close by. Prices are fair. We ordered for delivery and it was an hour's wait, we waited well over an hour so decided to give them a call, to be told that delivery had already been attempted and they'd called the number provided 12 times (100% not true), so we were told to wait again and then it did finally arrive. The chicken tikka masala had a very overpowering coconut flavour. We did pay for extra chilies and garlic in garlic chili chicken but that was non-existent. We also ordered saag paneer which was very nice!

We decided to visit at last minute and were impressed! Big fan of Asian food and eaten in 100s. Food was really tasty and well presented. I think those that critisise must realise that all food is cooked slightly differently and doesn't mean its poor quality? The volume of customers inside and collecting takeouts was impressive....speaks for itself really. Thanks

Worst food I have had in my life.. never had sweet chicken achari.. as if the chef used sugar instead of salt.. the only edible thing in our £100 order was the free poppadom.. it’s an insult to Indian cuisine.. not even worth the single star..

We ordered our dinner from this place and it was the worst decision of our lives. This place serves the worst Indian food in whole UK. The chicken dishes were sweet and flavourless. They even messed up Aloo Gobhi. Our £100 went straight to bin. It seems most of their reviews on Google are paid. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE, I AM WARNING YOU!

Sheer disappointment!! Chicken was same (boiled)in all the varieties of chicken. Saag paneer was a big disappointment after chicken!!! I never knew aloo gobhi can taste so bad 😣 No idea why there was sugar in all the dish and all of them tasted as if we were having dessert 🙄

This was a real disappointment. Starting with the good - we got what we ordered and it came online. However the food wasn't up to much. Every dish (Bombay potatoes, aloo Gobi, mushroom bhaji, paneer bhuna) was the exact same sludge brown colour. The potatoes were black (clearly not fresh), the food was very wet (swimming in oil) and extremely salty. First time we'd ordered from there and will be our last. No where near the standard I'd expect and simply not worth the money.

Delivery was our choice from here. The ordering on the website shows a great choice with options on spice levels. This made my day. I like to have some dishes but extra spicy. The food did not disappoint. It was very good with the spec levels asked for. Villa chicken was absolutely fantastic, the chicken was very moist and not overcooked. The other members of my family also commented on the good quality of the chicken and that their food was very good as well. Can’t wait to get back to the Cotswolds to enjoy this great food again.

One of the best Indian Restuarant not only in the cotswold but in whole UK. loved the food specially Lamb tikka, Bindi Masala, Prawn Tikka, chicken Tandoori in Gravy and Mango chatni 100% Recommend, Do visit..

This was our second holiday to South Cerney this year and we visited this restaurant twice in one week again as it was so good. The food was generous in portion size, served hot, great quality and there was plenty of choice. We brought our own alcoholic drinks. The staff were welcoming and worked extremely hard. Service was very good despite being busy in the restaurant and with takeaway orders. Looking forward to returning again next year at the end of June.

Restaurant opens at 5pm - we arrive at 5 pm / we wait 49 minutes for 3 starters to arrive (nothing complex, just onion bhaji), then we wait...and wait...and wait...we could have driven home to Northamptonshire quicker than what it took the order to arrive! Totally understandable if the room was busy, but we were literally the ONLY people in there. Takeaways on the other hand were (slowly) flying out the door. Food eventually arrives (after a few queries on when it may be delivered)...some warm, some not so warm - Naan bread not cooked, rice dry, veggie dish not touched due to taste. After expressing our 'concerns' were were told it was due to short staffing - okay, but surly mention that when your customers arrive if it is going to have a genuine knock on affect.And to add insult to injury - after visiting the loo just after the chef had been in there, the sink was bone dry when my husband went to wash his hands...unfortunately this was after the food had arrived and we were ready to leave, otherwise we would have walked.Literally 1 job - cook food, serve food, keep oneself hygienically clean...failed on all levels

Average food at a reasonable price. Handy in as much as they do deliver locally to the holiday homes alongside the various lakes.

Great restaurant, very tasty curries. Would recommend. We have used them a couple of times before when staying in self catering accommodation in the area and have never been disappointed. You get 10% off for collection rather than delivery so that's a bonus too.

Nice variety of specialty dishes plus all standard dishes. Place was busy and staff friendly and efficient given how busy. Food was very tasty and definitely in the spicy side if that’s how you like it… fairly hot means stick the paper in the freezer! Definitely needs mentioning, this place is BYO as it’s not obvious as we and many others didn’t realise.Fortunately, there’s a coop selling chilled drinks about 4minutes walk away. Can understand why this place is popular with locals and tourists like us. I had the kabuli lamb, which was very nice and recommended. Bhuna type sauce with chickpeas… although the dish apparently derives from Kabul hence the name… obviously Kabul being quite relevant in August 2021, will not make sense in a few years… I digress…

The food is very nice, The only thing that let it down was the wait for the food. It was busy for takeaway so they was behind. Other than that the staff were very polite.

We recently visited this restaurant twice as it was so good whilst on holiday. The food was excellent with generous portions. There was plenty of choice on the menu. We were even allowed to bring our own alcohol to accompany our meal. Staff were welcoming, hard working and very attentive. We are due to holiday in the area again in October and would definitely return. Would highly recommend for an enjoyable meal and evening out.

Called in a delivery for onion bhaji, naan, tandoori bread, king prawn balti, tandoori king prawn shashik, king prawn curry, & king prawn massala. Holy smokes! What a great flavorful feast! I've been in South Serney for 5 weeks, & this is the best restaurant meal my buddy & l have had. Great Indian flavors, wonderful non hot spices & seasonings (requested), and delivered hot. Pleasant experience and great food. This was a gastronomic-gasm!!! They also included some extra bits. Lots of leftovers for tomorrow..👍👍

Whilst staying locally, we chose to have an Indian meal after seeing a menu in our lodge. The service was 5 star, the meal was very good. We had Lamb Balti and Chicken Tikka Curry, and both were full of flavour. Naan bread was as to be expected, as was the rice. The Onion Bhajis were a little “doughy” in the middle but all round a lovely meal. Still not 100% sure what the pink sauces were that went with the meal, but it tasted fine! Thank you!

Disapppointed: Food passable but not as good, healthy or cheap as a good ready meal. Dhansak was very sweet, lots of sugar, so probably unhealthy. The chicken was overcooked dry and tough. Curried vegetables were gravied. An extra rice was added to the order and charged for. Not as good, healthy or cheap as a good ready meal. Biriani Ok but had little meat / fish. Unlikely I'll be back.

Terrible. Fui el domingo por la noche para un pollo tikka, pollo madras, sag Baji, arroz y bien. Todo parecía estar bien hasta las 2. A las 30 am cuando mi hija se despierta con una diarrea espantosa y vómitos, cinco horas después yo sufrí la misma suerte, también me comí la espinaca a diferencia de mi esposa que estaba perfectamente bien. Obviamente, hay problemas aquí, nunca los revisaremos y esperamos que la gerencia logre un mejor protocolo de higiene.

First takeaway curry I've had since I was diagnosed with Coeliac disease 8 years ago, and my chicken curry with special fried rice was excellent. Thank you South Cerney Tandoori.

Pedí una comida familiar hoy el domingo. Orden resultó mal. Rang varias veces. Pasado del pilar al poste. Diciéndonos que corregirían el error. Más de una hora después todavía no hay comida. Finalmente, hable con alguien para que se lo digan, mi compañero cometió el error de que no se ha enviado comida. Basura absoluta. Pidió un reembolso después de esperar más de una hora y media para corregir el error. Responder. A ocupado, pero podría entregar más comida! . Teniendo en cuenta que es de 20 a 9. Hecho a las 6 pm. Repugnante. ¡NUNCA PONGA A SU FAMILIA A TRAVÉS DE ESTE SERVICIO!

Amazing food and customer service

Ordered a takeaway for 8 last night after not liking the look of the restaurant we had booked into. Ordered a wide range of mains and sides, and couldn't fault any of it. Piping hot and cooked to the correct spice level for the dish (unlike some where how hot your dish come out is a lottery!). Def recommend
