The Spice Room in Cotswold

Called in here for a meal whilst staying in Moreton over the Christmas period. Hadn't booked but wasn't a problem. Busy, buzzy little restaurant. Had eaten here before, years ago, so knew it was good. In fact it was better than we remembered. Great service, delicious food and good portions. Not overpriced either like many places in the Cotswolds. Will continue to recommend to friends.

Superb, recommended by a local family and we didn't look back from the moment that we stepped through the door! Fabulous service, fabulous food, great price point. Wonderful

We had a takeaway Christmas Eve. It was delivered. This isn’t the first time. Never had a problem. Usually spend about £40 and get 2/3 popadoms. Spent £85 got one crushed broken up popadom! Raw chips and the chicken pakoras was like rubber. Not impressed.

Had a delivery to our motorhome while staying at Morton in Marsh caravan site. The whole process was easy, the staff were helpful when I asked questions about their dishes and the food itself was exceptional. As non meat eaters we enjoyed some excellent fish, prawn and vegetable curries, together with bhajis naan and rice. Their wide range of fish options was really surprising based on other Indian restaurants we have used. Overall, one of the best curries we have had in a long time and I would highly recommend.

Myself and some colleges travelled to the area for a work course. Decided to eat in the spice room. While eating we all noticed four of the staff gathered together looking at is and laughing amongst themselves. Of course at the time we didn't think too much about it. We finished most of our food. Only three out of the four in the group ate food.. we received a bill of £130 one starter three mains and six beers. That night and for a whole day after the ones who ate had upset stomachs. During the last day of the course we bumped into some people we knew who also had the same issue from the spice room with upset stomachs. I would not recommend this restaurant.

Just back from yet another excellent meal. We always try to eat here when we’re in the area. We know that the food, atmosphere and staff will be unfailingly fantastic and tonight didn’t disappoint. We each had the set meal for one and thoroughly enjoyed everything we had. Great value at £24.95 each and more food than we could eat, all served by super attentive staff. Wish we could get here more often.

We ate here and had an excellent meal! The food was all tasty and flavoursome! The naan bread and chutney trays were excellent! The staff were all very attentive and would definitely eat here again!

I came for a collection order and the food was five star amazing. The best I have had and also my mother. We had the madras and the vindaloo. It was beyond amazing such good quality food and so fresh. And the staff are superb . Will definitely be ordering again 🙂

Posto assolutamente da evitare. Servizio pessimo e, soprattutto, il cameriere ci ha servito e messo in conto piatti non richiesti. In tutti i ristoranti indiani in cui eravamo stati finora, il vassoio con le salse e il pane croccante era offerto, qui invece lo mettono in conto senza avvisare. Anche 2 piatti di riso - di gusto orribile tra l'altro - non richiesti, sono stati serviti e messi in conto, così come del pane bruciato. Infine, visto che il conto era su un foglietto scritto a penna, ho chiesto più volte la ricevuta, ma la persona alla cassa ha fatto finta di niente e non mi ha dato niente.

We visited this restaurant whilst staying at a local caravan park. We had a lovely experience, the restaurant itself is very nicely decorated and clean. It was very quiet on the night we visited. The staff were very attentive and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. We took our own wine from the Tesco across the road and the staff provided glasses and a cooler for us. The food was exceptional and there was plenty of it. Prices were very fair for the quality of the food. After to popadoms and chutney, we had chicken chat to start between us, then chicken shashlick and chicken Pathia with rice and naan bread. We had a lovely evening and we would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Wow amazing place looking from the outside you would think it’s tiny, But inside it just keeps going into a beautiful labyrinth of sone walled dining rooms crisp white linen tables And the food is don’t think I’ve ever been to a Indian restaurant with such big portions every thing was well presented tasty i had a lamb curry and the lamb was soft and tender, the wife had mango chicken and she loved it I would definitely be coming back next time we travel this way

The food was delicious, and the ambience was amazing. You should definitely try it if you're looking for Indian food.

Really good food. We had a variety of vegetarian and meat dishes. Every dish was tasty and fresh. The service was great and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. This is a bring your own restaurant, which makes the value even better.

Didn’t realise there’s no bar licence… Booked here tonight for an anniversary meal. Phew Tesco next door! Thank you for the bottle opener. Food was ok but would not have booked if we had known before hand there is no bar. Nothing on the Google search stating it’s a dry house! I did order a soda water and lime that cost me £4.90 I nearly fell thought the floor… safe to say we won’t be going back!

The food was top notch and would highly recommended to anyone in the area or stopping close by. Portions for each curry were enough for two people. Staff polite and curry was amazing!

I made a point of visiting the restaurant tea time to book a table for 2 people at 10pm as it was a Saturday night and my husband's birthday - the reservation was confirmed. We arrived at 10.10pm to find the door locked and we're told they would not serve us as we were late and they had closed!! They pointed out their closing time on the window as 10pm......if the closing time was 10pm why were we told a 10pm booking was OK?? I appreciate we were late but all decent restaurants have a grace period of at least 15 minutes. I suspect it had been a quiet service so they decided not to honour the booking. Luckily Tesco across the road was still open and we're were able to buy a sandwich but the birthday celebrations had well and truly been scuppered!!

Not what it once was, lovely people but the food isn't quite there any more.

Although the food was brilliant as usual , we were not aware they had lost their alcohol license , paid £18 for 4 cokes which is in my mind a little steep . If your going remember to byo and enjoy the brilliant food

Very disappointed that we were not advised they had lost their alcohol licence. We felt deceived and the place was very cold too. We left after sitting down. We shan’t return.

Omg, that was the best curry we have had in the past 10 years! We tried to order online but it wouldn't let me complete so we walked round to order. We were served within 15 minutes and the staff were lovely! We are on the caravan site, wish we lived in Moreton! Can't recommend highly enough. Happy New Year! X

This restaurant is just off the main High Street and was easy to find. We found the staff to be very welcoming and friendly when we arrived and shown to our table on a Friday evening. We had brought our own bottles of beer to enjoy with our meal and they happily opened the bottles and provided us with beer glasses. We ordered poppadoms with pickle and chutney tray and were impressed with the choice of 6 dips to choose from. We didn’t have to wait long for our mains to arrive which consisted of pilau and mushroom rice, a chicken jalfrezi and a madras, 1 peshwari naan and a saag aloo side dish. These were expertly spiced, flavourful, piping hot and absolutely delicious. Perfect! The portion sizes were really generous so we asked for cartons to take what we couldn’t finish home, rather than waste it, which the waiters were happy to help with. The price of our delicious Indian culinary delight was extremely reasonable too and we were pleasantly surprised when the bill arrived. If you appreciate good service and delicious food with the perfect amount of spice …then this place is definitely for you!

Biryani and Chicken Tikka were literally bland. Fry Chilli Chicken was good. Do not recommend.

If you want to incinerate your taste palate and have a side dish of awful customer service, congratulations, you've found your venue! APPALLING customer service. When we made the staff aware that the food (from the mild section of the menu) was completely inedible due to the spice level, they didn't believe us. They proceeded to put us on trial and ask other people in the restaurant, customers/delivery drivers, to taste the food to see if we were lying... Yes I'm not joking, this did actually happen. The presumed manager only refunded us for one dish (we complained about 4 of the 9 main course dishes we ordered) which was very disappointing. Meanwhile the chief food taster/delivery driver verbally abused us and ushered us out of the restaurant. The initial smell of the curry on the walk home was the highlight of the meal. AVOID the key is in the name ... SPICE if you like your food with more spices and hotter than you've ever tasted the same dish anywhere elsewhere then please go for it, and good luck. Unhelpful staff was also disappointing. C'est la vie.

DO NOT waste your money! We had a takeaway for 10 people for my dads 60th Birthday and had an awful experience. The food was inedible as every dish was far spicier than ever experienced. I returned to the restaurant to explain our disappointment, to wish I was verbally abused by a member of staff (apparently a delivery driver). The other members of staff said nothing and allowed her to shout and patronise me. She then followed us out of the restaurant and would not leave us alone. I have never had an experience like it and would not want anyone else to go through the same. Other members of staff should have stepped in, but they did nothing. Terrible place - do not go!

Ordered a paneer tikka masala and it was strange and unappetizing. Seemed to have a lot of red food coloring (?) that gave it this bright red color and had a very strange texture.

We decided to try this restaurant because we were able to take our own alcohol. On entering we were pleasantly surprised that what looked like a couple of tables near the counter, turned into a much bigger room round the corner. In fact the building is actually three hundred years old and full of character. We chose a meat/fish thali to be able to sample more dishes that the restaurant had to offer. A vegetarian thali is also available. The food was excellent and very plentiful for a more than reasonable price. The thali also included a starter dish and the variety of meat available was fabulous. I cannot praise Fonzie any more highly. He looked after us well and even substituted one of my dishes - I do not eat prawns. Fonzie described in detail what the thali consisted of and was attentive and friendly throughout our meal. We also got to meet the chef on the way out and we’re able to compliment him on his excellent food. If you like Indian food, I really do recommend you try this restaurant.

The food seemed pretty good but I am still very mad about the service. One of the staff convinced me to get double orders of 2 of the dishes I was ordering saying they were "small.". I was very clear that it was only me and that I didn't want too much food but I took his advice. When I picked up the order it was so much volume of food that I had to throw 2/3 of it away since I was traveling and at a hotel (like most people who come there). It was enough food for 3 people and probably $12 worth straight in the garbage. I guess the staff just wanted the extra money. That sucks if you ask me......

This is our go to restaurant In Moreton-In-Marsh. The food is exceptional as well as the service. It’s BYO at the moment . Which we both love . Will be back

We absolutely love this restaurant, we have been working in the area for 6 months; the food here is always superb, the staff charming and so very attentive. Spotlessly clean too, indicative of any ( star restaurant. We have dined in many restaurants over the years but this one is truly exceptional; we tried a different dish tonight which we loved! Cannot fault it!

We only had takeaway but personally my best curry. Am quite fussy with heat and asked for medium and perfect. Would recommend the KFC Naan which is like a pizza on its own..Awesome

We ordered a take away and must admit was a bit surprised when thet said it would be ready in 20 minutes. Got it home and it looked strange, very dark colour Jalfrezi and Chana. Also ordered what they called "Favourite" and mushroom bhaji. The whole meal was totally inedible, we took a few mouthful and threw the rest in the bin. The jalfrezi was the worst my wife has ever tastes and the chana was cooked with something too sweet, possibly yoghurt. The "favourite was extremely spicy hot and totally devoid of taste. And now the last item, the mushroom bhaji. I did see a few pieces of mushroom in the container, the rest looked like a mish mash of slops left over from the night before. BE WARNED........THIS IS AN EXTREMELY POOR EXCUSE FOR AN INDIAN RESTAURANT.

Lovely food, huge portions, massive prawns and friendly service. They have lost their drinks licence and offer overpriced soft cocktails, but the food makes up for that. Best to get tanked up first in the Black Bear just down the road first!

A firm favourite with my friends and I, our go to place for take away / delivery. We have ordered from spice rooms on multiple occasions, always great food.

Very good evening meal. Normal wide range of choices. Waiter service was quick, friendly and efficient. Food was very good and would highly recommend this restaurant. The entrance area does not do this restaurant justice and is the take away area-the main restaurant is further back- a very interesting mix of styles. Would go back but we live in spain so unlikely.

We have been getting takeaway food from here for years and it’s always been top quality until yesterday . We ordered chicken tikka and it was completely different to what it normally was. Such an authentic and delicious restaurant! We had the prawn and spicy lamb appetizers with puri bread and the buttery chicken over basmati rice. Everything was so very good! Wish we had A Spice Room in Jacksonville.

Visited early on a Saturday, as later tables were booked up: very popular. This place is a Tardis! From the outside it looks tiny but inside it’s a lot bigger, and the back rooms are a wonderful mixture of old beams and clean white walls....
