Best fish and chips in Cirencester.

Straight after ordering fish and chips and half hour later eating it was sick. Chips were under-cooked and extremely greasy. You could taste the cooking oil literally!. It even spilled onto the wrapping paper as was putting it on plate! The cod was poor didn't taste nice. I was feeling ok till buying (small portion) of fish and chips here and it isn't a good price either.

The food is amazing we never go anywhere else, fish always excellent quality. We always are greeted well by all the staff especially gage & hagrid (she knows who she is) we always have such a laugh. Would 100% recommend to anyone and I don’t think you’ll get better locally as we have tried a few around, no it’s always our go to place. Well done to your amazing staff 😍

Walked in only one customer in front of me, ordered fish and chips twice, waited 25 minutes Got home to eat (less than 5 minutes away) to find the fish totally under cooked Reminded me why I never used this chippy Totally disappointed

We drive 10 miles to get to Seafare. This is the best chippy around genuinely by miles.

Very good freshly cooked fish and chips,tetbury was closed on a Saturday afternoon so we and the Seafare benefited.

This was the most disappointing chippy I have ever had. To begin with, the portion size for the price is disgraceful. I wouldn't have minded too much if they were good-quality chips, but they were below average. Secondly, the curry sauce was more like curry jelly with a thick layer on top, almost like a crust that had been mixed in to disguise it. It was absolutely disgusting, and once I had poured the curry jelly over it (without knowing it was a curry jelly-like substance), I ended up throwing 90% away as a result. As far as anything else goes, I don't know, and I will never be ordering again to find out.

This place used to be a go to but it’s gone very downhill. I never write reviews even if the food or service is bad but I just have to this time just to worn other people who suffer with anxiety! I would hate for someone to feel the same way I felt today ! The food was undercooked and some of the order was missing however this isn’t even the worse of the experience! I was served by a guy called Sam who was incredibly rude, and had the worse customer service I’ve ever experienced! This place isn’t suitable for people who suffer with anxiety due to the worker called Sam ! I’ve never felt so anxious in my life than when Sam was talking to me, he has no respect for the customers and because I got anxious the person who I was with tried to help me and said what I was trying to say and Sam just ignored him and was making me talk when I was struggling and then after he took our order he made a comment about how he doesn’t interrupt his mrs when they are out (why do we care about that) and had to tell him that was my brother ! Why assume people are dating and make comments, he’s too cocky and has no reason to be. This was the worst experience I have ever had in my life. Never felt my anxiety be so high just felt like leaving and not even getting my food. Thank you, This took place at 18:50pm yesterday.

Visiting Cirencester for a few days recently with a friend, I can say without any doubt that SEAFARE'S fish and chips were the best we've ever had anywhere with generous portions , light crispy batter , and lovely flakey fish. They were so good we made 2 further visits after the first ! Sam and John served us on each occasion , and I made a point of letting them know just how good the food was , and that we'd be returning in the future!

Recommended by a friend. One of the best chip shops I have been to. So each time we are in Cirencester we'll try our best to stop by.

Popped in for an impromptu takeaway on a Tuesday night and order scampi, large chips, mushy peas, gravy and curry sauce for two to share. We had to drive 15 minutes home so expected to need to heat it up and find slightly soggy chips, but no. So impressed! The food was still hot and crispy. Not at all oily and high quality food. The staff were friendly and the restaurant has a section you can eat in. All very clean and tidy. Great selection on the menu including salt and pepper squid (and tempura prawns as a special). We’ll definitely be back and would recommend.

We was recommended this chip shop from someone that worked in a local supermarket checkout as we was here from London for the week and we wasn’t let down with the quality of this fish and chip shop. Everything was cooked fresh and it was very busy which is always a good sign, we ordered five large fish and chips plus a sausage in batter and the portions was enormous, only one of us could finish it. It was Top quality, fresh fish and chips and we was overall very pleased with it, five stars from us and when we are back we will return thank you for the experience.

Drove from Northleach and on the way thought we'd ring and order gluten free fish and chips as advertised to be told they NO LONGER do it😔

Used to be very good, i mean like a couple years ago. Now very much hit and miss. I’ve been thinking of using other Cirencester chippys but tonights soggy chips and (very, very) small cod were the final straw.

Total rip off. Very expensive small portion size very stingy. Greasy chips and cod was poor. I won't go there anymore, seems to be run by kids.

Small Fish and Chips £2 more than it said on the menu, just shrugged when it was pointed out. Batter on the fish was burnt, not great.

Ordered online for collection, Fish was ok but the chicken was inedible and so over done. Thought I'd give them another chance as they are local but even my cat turned his nose up at it, probably left over from lunchtime. Would I go there again....NO not a chance. I could've bought a whole chicken cheaper and it would've been tastier.

Order online cod and chips with chicken wing, chicken completely over done (by the toughness of it) leftover from lunch time. When you have this now, as a treat, you expect it to be exceptional,....obviously run by kids who don't give a.... Won't be returning any time soon.

Fish and chips were actually nice from here for a change. Stopped using them for a while as normally it was terrible, we would do click and collect and on 4 occasions something was missing. Tried to phone every time but no answer. Had dinner again from there last night and again my southern fried chicken strips were missing. Don’t use this fish and chip shop they sting you and the chips are normally soggy and pies rock hard.

This chippy was alwasy good but of recent times it has dipped seriously. Today I fancied a small fish and chips. The batter was so tough that when I eventually got to the fish it was rock hard and sadly uneatable, I wonder whether it had simpy been warmed up from a previous batch or it had been around a long time in the heated unit?!. Sadly I always recomended this chippy, alas I shall return to former habits and collect from town.

This has to be one of the best if not the best hidden gem in the area. Jhon, the fryer made us a plate of fish n chips, the food is top quality, the customer service is excellent, polite & courteous. The place is clean & decor is fresh, the staff are helpful & the food turnaround time is very good. I can’t recommend this place enough, next time you fancy a good old fish n chips & much more from the menu then get over to this place & give your self a nice treat, you won’t be disappointed. Well done guys, keep up the good work.

Changing this review from a 5 star, which is such a shame, because it used to be the best fish and chip shop in Cirencester, but in recent months it's sadly changed. It's always out of food, and they are constantly "waiting for a delivery" of everything. I think all the Vegetarian options have been on order for a few months now and still haven't arrived, and with a vegetarian in the family, it means they miss out on all of our orders. Given it loads of chances to see if it would pick up, hoping they would realise that they need stock to keep regular customers coming back, but unfortunately it seems to be getting worse if anything. I was even told they only had one portion of chips left the other day 🫤

Decent food but service can be slow. Both times I have clicked and collected it has been about 10 minutes after the selected time. Big queue when I went in today and there was definitely a a backlog of orders with not enough staff to get though it all and serve those in the queue. Can highly recommend the halloumi!

Has always been our go to for fish & chips, very disappointing visit recently. Chips were very pale & hadn’t been peeled or eyed properly, batter was thick and stodgy too. Curry sauce was very sweet & lumpy. Not sure what’s happened, a real shame.

Chips were old. Felt like they were fried last week. Burger was basic, no veggies, just a load of cheese. Not even mayo or ketchup. No free mayo and ketchup either! Had to £0.30 each! Won’t visit again.

Fancied a "chippy tea" as we say in Nottingham...and so I took my trusty dog Norman out for a night time stroll for Mt Saturday night date! I was passing Seafare and a lovely chap placed my order from the door as I had Norm. The staff were SO polite and efficient and had no qualms with my fussy instructions for the salt and vinegar routine... I popped into Tesco and returned a couple of minutes later to be greeted at the door with my small fish and chips for the superb price of £6.05! OMG! I was not prepared for the deeeelliishiusshhhness of this British favourite!! I will definitely be back!! Not great for my waistline but Norman is happy as Larry (who is Larry BTW?) because we are still put walking an hour later as I need to burn the calories!! Whoever owns Seafare should be proud of your staff, the customer service I received was incredible!! Thank YOU Team Satueday Seafare!!

For many years we have made the 1/2 hour drive to Cirencester to get fish and chips from here as they have always been fantastic and the customer service has been second to none. Perhaps it was because it was a Saturday night but after tonight’s experience I will NEVER go there again. It’s Saturday and busy which is to be expected so we were asked to wait to order, after a few minutes of waiting a man walks straight in and orders and pays …. While we are still waiting … I politely ask if we should be waiting to order and are told yes as they are very busy…. Ok so I don’t question that the man didn’t have to wait, perhaps he was a regular? But still one rule for me and a different rule for him seems a bit unfair. After waiting a very long time I order only to be told the things I want are out of stock, again ..ok but even a hand written scrawl on an A4 piece of paper would be helpful to people who rather than wait 10 minutes to be told their food wasn’t in stock may have made a choice to go elsewhere. So I order, and wait that’s fine it’s busy. I see my order go into the hot area and I wait, and lots of orders placed after mine go out, and I wait. Finally the man who is frying points out my order should be next, the server says ‘in a minute’ as apparently it’s takes both servers to fulfill an order taken a long time after mine. When I hear mine is up next I ask if it can be wrapped in paper as I have a long journey. Now this has never been a problem before as they have always put the food in the boxes and wrapped them in paper for insulation I pop it in a insulated bag and it’s always hot when I get home. Today the sever chose to tip ( yes tip out) my scampi and fish and wrap them directly in the paper even though I did say oh please leave them in the box and she had to be reminded of what I actually had in my order as she forgot my curry sauce. Needless to say by the time I got home I had two soggy cold pieces of cod with the batter stuck to the paper and it was so unappetising I simply gave it to the dog. It’s ok to be busy but you really need to work on your customer communication and the servers really need to take more care about what the customer wants rather than threatening to squirt each other with the vinegar bottle.

Food actually nice but appalling service. Rude, unfriendly, unhelpful and bordering on arrogant. Not sure what employers are thinking if they want to keep customers. Not inclined to return

We used to love this fish and chip shop but now the cost is ridiculous and the last couple of times, they haven’t even been able to get our order right. Get home and something is missing, this evening is was my daughters veggie burger so my husband had to drive back in to get it yet again!

I had now 5 lots of fish and chips from Seafare Fish & Chips in Chesterton and i can't fault them as an x-fishmonger the is cooked the way i like a golden brown batter they chips have got a little bit of sweetness too then and i never have SALT OR VINGER put on them i wont too teast the food so well done SEAFSRE FISH & CHIPS

Very slow service. Numbers were issued per order which is fine. I ordered haddock There was no suggestion that there would be a wait The problem came when many others made their orders after us and were served way before us, and yes these did include fish as part of their orders. When we complained they stated the haddock was freshly cooked (but what about the cod). I'm wondering if they had to catch ours from the local river!!! The food itself was nice but sorry marked down for slowness. It's a fish and chip shop not a sit down meal which you would expect to be slower. No excuses just say sorry for the wait and all would have been forgiven. It seems to me that when my partner moaned (without being abusive or aggressive - just commenting that he was amazed how long it took you to cook a haddock) the man behind the immediately became defensive. Like I said, a simple apology would have worked wonders. In future maybe if a customer orders haddock it might be a smart move to advise them to expect a long wait...

Always loved the chips from this place, haven't been for a while so we popped in tonight for fish and chips and of course a tub of curry sauce. Got home and we were so disappointed, the chips were black and had obviously been heated up from lunch, fish had loads of bones and the batter was soggy and full of grease. Curry sauce was NOT curry sauce it was sweet and had baked beans,in tasted more like a piri piri type if taste. If we lived closer I would of taken it back and asked for our money back. Lost a customer here 😒

30 minutes for chips !!! My partner went in there after finishing work for some chips to go with a meal I had left him. There were others waiting all for chips in the end he told them to give his chips to someone else and walked out after 30 minutes without his chips. There problem is taking more effort on telephone orders. There other choices in town with better service and better food reading other reviews !!

Used Seafare since moving to the area 5 years ago, until recently 5* all the way. The last few months it has really gone down hill. Their batter used to be light and crispy but is now soggy and undercooked. Mushy peas used to have some texture but now taste like they are waters down tinned peas. What has happened? Unfortunately, we will be finding somewhere else.

Go there once a month same order every time and consistently very good, friendly well organised staff and very efficient, reasonably priced recommended

In the past we have always enjoyed using the Seafare for our takeaways, but what has happened ? on our last three visits we have had to wait twenty minutes just for a portion of chips and it wasn't that busy, hate to say this but we might have to start going elsewhere.

My oap mother went in last Saturday for mini fish and small chips much to her shock it had gone up£1 . New gluten free batter was being used . Mum got it home could not even break or cut the battered fish and inside was the smallest sliver of fish . She has used them many times. But this will be the last time so sad as she has live at Chesterton nearly all of her life. And likes to support local businesses.

We have used this fish and chip shop fairly regularly over the last few months and the food was always good but we will be very unlikely to buy from them again after tonight's meal ( scampi & chips x 2 and fish and chips x 1 ).The food was disgusting and inedible - we ended up throwing 95% of it away (and we were all really hungry or it would have been more ! ), so an expensive mistake that we won't make again. The chips were old , overcooked and tasted tainted ; there was probably something wrong with the oil, as the scampi and fish had the same revolting taste. The only thing that was edible was the tartar sauce, and that was pre-packed !The cook was wearing a food -stained sweatshirt , so maybe there is a hygiene issue. On reflection, I wish that I had just walked away.

This place is hit or miss and tonights meal had me feeling underwhelmed so had to give them 2 stars unfortunatley.. staff are very friendly.. however the chips were so dry like they had been left out for a while. Fish wasnt much better im afraid. Probably wont go here again.
