Lovely chippy best chips we've had in ages.

If disappointment had a permanent address, it would be this place. Every six months, I apparently develop amnesia severe enough to forget the culinary catastrophe that is their fish and chips. So, like a glutton with a death wish, I roll the dice again, only to be slapped in the face by soggy, undercooked potato lumps that could double as doorstops. The fish? A masterclass in mediocrity. And the price? It’s as if they’re charging for the privilege of being insulted by their food. As if the greasy, subpar food weren’t enough, these jokers still operate in the financial dark ages, insisting on cash only. No card, no contactless, just a blatant refusal to join us in the 21st century. How people willingly queue up for this culinary insult is beyond me. If you value your time, money, and the integrity of your taste buds, do yourself a favor and head to Greedy’s. There's a reason they’re the local favourite, they actually know what they're doing. This place? It should come with a warning label, a refund policy and health insurance.

Don't waste your money here, staff rude, hygiene not good, cookery not good and smallest curry pot I have ever been served......such a shame as only chippy in Moreton in marsh, and they now it !

My experience with the lads that run this establishment was unparalleled. As we only eat halal, when asked if they could help they immediately fired up a separate fryer with vegetable oil and made us an excellent portion of fish and chips. They didn't have to, you see they were busy and truth be told didn't need our business, but they went above and beyond my expectations and experiences with any other chippy. They went out of there way to ensure me and my friend were catered for. God bless you.

Best Fish and Chips PERIOD !!! I grew up in England and moved to the USA many years ago. I go back home quite a lot and it’s very sad that you can no longer find a proper good fish and chip shop . Growing up we always knew which ones were the best and wouldn’t go anywhere else . But nowadays they are mostly awful especially the tourist areas and pub fish and chips Yuk . HOWEVER this one is a Must Visit. I was there with my American GF and decided what the heck we haven’t had much look with fish and chips let’s give it a try. WOW Just like back when I was a kid great fish and chips, batter is perfect and chips are amazing just like I remember (good pies as well) . GF said it’s ruined “fries” forever for her as they were the best ones she’s ever had . If your a tourist in the cottswolds area and want “proper” British fish and chips eat here . Don’t be fancy and try and eat at a bench, pick them up, sit on the curb outside and enjoy ... :) Coming back to spend two nights in the COTTSWOLDS to enjoy your fish and chips again :)

Had many a bag of chips from here and never been disappointed. Just the sort of comfort food that is needed after a walk around the town. Plenty of benches to sit at along the green, or sit on the steps of the war memorial, and enjoy the envious glares from the passing traffic as everyone is trying, and failing, to rush through the town. Great work, Mermaid Fish Bar :)

I’ve had fish and chips from here a few times, so feel I can give a genuine review. First queues are ridiculous long, this must be partly down to the fact they take big orders over the phone, so people queuing have to wait for these orders to be fulfilled. The batter is always too thick and undercooked, soggy inside. Sometimes the fish is fresher than at other times but today I had fish that was not nice, nearly off I think! Don’t think I will go again.

I love everything about this place. The atmosphere is s quaint, the food was delicious and the staff were helpful and friendly. This was my first experience with fish and chips during my trip to the UK from the US. I don’t normally eat fish but this was absolutely delicious!

Oddly I was there on the same Friday as one of the other reviewers. I also waited 20+ minutes to get served because there was a sizeable queue stretching along the street - which I took as a good sign! We all thought our food was good: crispy batter, moist fish, loads of chips, mushy peas on point, curry sauce tasty and - contrary to another review - the staff were very friendly, especially given how busy it was. One star off for only taking cash though! Anyway, we were there for a campervan rally and often pick up F&C on the way to a site and this one was good enough to have a return visit if we are ever in the area again.

It’s Friday early evening and just finished my fish and chips after waiting in a 20 minute queue. Unfortunately after reading many reviews and mostly positive my review is not as favourable. Both the cod were quite crunchy and dry inside. Such a shame as my son and I were really looking forward to a lovely fish and chips. I wanted the batter to be light and crispy and the fish soft and flaking inside. Staff were pleasant enough. Curry sauce pot a little small. Chips were nice and hot. Wouldn’t return.

Friendly welcome. Food was amazing. The best fish & chips we'd had in a while. The curry sauce is a MUST. Very reasonably priced.

We saw the line out the door and when we asked a person in line, it turned out they were a local. That was good enough for us. This was great. The portion (Cod) was tasty and huge, and we shared it between the two of us. We ate in the park across from the shop and created a memory. If you're staying in Moreton, this is worth a drop in for the experience.

A bit of a wait as the food was cooked fresh to order (it was just before closing and still busy) but absolutely worth it. Staff were very friendly and obviously focussed on providing quality, and the food was delicious (my only complaint is the portions were too big!)

Friendly, happy, helpful, go out of their way to help! Even when they ran out of chicken nuggets for my little boy they went out of the way and made something different. Then when we went in a second time remembered what he wanted. Definitely recommend ad will be going back.

Absolutely fantastic fish and chips and onion rings! The cod was just delicious 😋. We waited a very short time for fresh onion rings, and it was definitely worth the wait! We highly recommend! Make sure you have cash, no credit cards.

I rung up to order for collection and was greeted by someone who has seemingly never communicated over the phone before. Here is how the conversation went: "Hello" "Hi. Can I order ahead please?" "What?" "Can I order ahead please?" "WHAT?" "Can you hear me?" "Yes" "I said can I order ahead please" *Hangs up* It seems that they thought that I was prank calling them and wanted to order a head. I struggle to believe that no one has ever done this before. When we did manage to order and went to collect, they had missed part of our order and got part of it wrong - we realised this once we got home, 15 minutes away, so not worth returning. There is no point being able to order over the phone if you can't get the orders right.

SHOCKING CUSTOMER SERVICE AVOID THIS DIRTY PLACE. I walked in no one was in there I said to the guy could I please have 2 pieces of chicken and chips which was available in the tray. So the lady didn’t let him to gave them to me instead she kept one for a client who walked in after me and kept me waiting while they was serving the other client who had come into the shop after me, and they told me the 2 pieces of chicken isn’t available anymore. Absolutely poor customer service and they judge people by their look 💯 so I would avoid them and give my money to someone who treats people walking through the door with respect. Your attitude in your reply says it all 👏🏽 get a grip and provide a good customer service.

According to Google we first visited this fish and chip shop 9 years ago, I have to be honest I can't remember that occasion but I can remember visiting it yesterday, Saturday the 25th Feb 2023 and it was fabulous. My wife and I thought about calling into a cafe or pub on our way down to our Hotel for a bite to eat, we popped into a cafe that was busy and charging £9.50 for a jacket potato, we queued for a short while, looked at each other and collective said, let's share fish and chips, so we popped a few doors down and ordered haddock and chips with mushy peas. We sat in the car and with our little wooden folks and thoroughly enjoyed perfectly cooked fish n chips. I'm an Englishman so I can't pretend not to know my way around fish and chips and these were beautiful. If you're looking not to be ripped off by the Cotswolds tourist traps then I couldn't recommend this lovely little shop more.

Visited several times over the last couple of years. I've always wanted to like the food from here as it's conveniently local but unfortunately it's just not very good. Portions are consistently small, expensive and despite my best effort to say hi and be friendly, the staff simply just do not want to talk to their customers. One of the many places around here which succeeds because of the tourist trade. Also - cash only which is just inconvenient these days. Better off going to shipston or even better Kineton.

A great fish and chip shop in the middle of the town. Parking was easy. Queue was longer than expected and was 12 people long on a Friday and Saturday evening. Food was good Staff were friendly and helpful.

Second visit here yesterday, first visit was fine, nice fish and chips, but yesterday the fish was overcooked, tough and dry and so were the chips. There won't be a third visit from me . . . . . . If you've got it wrong and over cooked it, or didn't sell it at lunchtime - throw it away . . . .

I'm a local.. Always fresh, delicious fat pieces of cod in a crunchy batter. Huge portion of chips. Had family stay recently and they agreed this place serves lush fish and chips.. Pies are also good 👍 Highly recommend. (Have eaten here 3 times since moving to Moreton and never had a bad meal).

The only disappointment was the Haddock, being from Grimsby we do prefer haddock to Cod,. Certainly didn’t taste like Haddock., in fact it was tasteless . Amazing quality fresh fish and chips very reasonably priced I pass this shop daily on the way to work and have waited so long to try them due to having a que constantly and wanting to get back home. However i can now understand why and it was well worth the wait. I had cod and chips. The cod fell apart and was cover in a delicious batter and the chips are light yet crispy. My son had battered sausage and chips and really enjoyed it

Fish and chips looked great in the shop and a good size to. In reality one of the fish was old and over cooked especially at one end which was all hard batter. An obvious old re cooked fish. The 2nd was fine but again one end was all batter. Such a disappointment for 18 quid. A real let down. Mushy peas and curry sauce and the chips were great.
