We walked from Chedworth Roman Villa to Seven Tons Inn for lunch. Plenty of tables available as early weekday. The food took a long time to arrive as apparently they were a chef down. Food good but pricy and 10% service charge on top. Made a nice day out and nice pub so overall can't fault it.

If we dont use these pubs they will go and they won’t ever come back. This pub is damn good. Great welcome. Wonderful service. A fabulous menu and wine list. It was delicious. It’s not over done up. It’s owner run - increasingly rare but it retained everything I wanted in a pub. I urge you to pay it a visit.

Three generations ranging from 10 to 80 had Sunday lunch here for my father in law’s 80th birthday. Good food, and excellent service - attentive but not overwhelming. We (11 of us) all got served at the same time, which was a far better experience that I’ve had elsewhere in a big party. I really enjoyed the vegan nut roast Sunday lunch too. A very pleasant change to be included in the “roast” options, and spot on for an autumnal Sunday lunch.

My partner and I recently got married in the Cotswolds and were looking for somewhere to go with some family and friends the day after. Simon, Charlotte and the team were so accommodating from the outset. They were so flexible with my request, given that it was the week before and for around 30 people. They did everything they could on the day to serve everyone - they are a small but mighty pub. I can’t thank them enough for the delicious food, drink, brilliant service and all-round gorgeous, tranquil setting. It was the cherry on top of our wedding weekend. I would highly recommend the Seven Tuns to anyone and will definitely be back when we next come to visit.

We visited during our camping break and, being massive foodies, decided to bring the children and our friends to the 7 Tuns. Even though we arrived with children we were made to feel instantly welcome by the staff who provided an excellent service throughout. The menu was varied but refined and the choice of roasted bone marrow on the side of our steak told me all I needed to know about the attention to flavour and ingredients the chef invests. The kids were offered the same good food but in half portions and very good value. The garden had a lovely feel to it and we could have stayed for hours longer enjoying the mood. We met Simon, the landlord, at the end of our meal as he himself came to follow up on our experience. When we informed him of our dreaded walk back to camp he kindly offered to drive us himself. This was clearly somebody passionate about food/wine and customer experience. We can’t thank him enough for the afternoon we had and we very much look forward to coming back again soon. Possibly child free.

Latest experience ~ quite slow service ~ and the price stings when one realizes that the charmingly asked, "would you like a side order of mash with your pie," comes extra.Have been coming here for about 20 years (I live about 10 miles away.) It used to be the place I'd take people. But like so many in the rural pub trade it's been through several landlords since ~ lost and closed and saved again.

I went to Seven Tuns last night and I had smoked mackerel pate and pheasant. It was better than delicious. The smoked mackerel flavour was delicate and the pheasant was tender with mash and greens. Perfect portion size and 2 courses for just £15. The wine also has a 20% discount from Sun eve to Thurs. This offer is to encourage people to come in the weekdays. The team is top notch and the pub is set up so you feel safe. There are several rooms with cozy fires, social distancing works well. There is also a beer garden. This is a very special country pub and it needs people to keep it going during the pandemic. If you come you will not be disappointed and you're in for a treat.

A friend of mine and I visited this pub after doing a hike around the local area. On entering the pub I waited by the table as advised by a sign, awaiting someone to come and seat me. What looked like the proprietor saw me and took payment from a table of customers seated nearby. He returned with change, ignored me again without uttering a word along the lines of 'I'll be with you in a minute' turned his back and walked out of the room. He didn't look particularly busy, which I could forgive. I can only surmise that because I was not dressed for lunch that, he did not welcome my custom. After waiting for 5 minutes we left and visited the Stump, a far more welcoming and warm pub. I haven't experienced that sort of attitude for years and it really goes against the spirit of what a pub should be about. Shame on you 7 Tuns!

This was our first visit to this relatively newly refurbished pub, having moved away from the Cotswolds some years ago. In an area with lots of options for lunch this was a great choice. It is run with the quiet unassuming confidence of people who know that their food is great. Our waiter was relaxed but efficient, informative but unobtrusive. All necessary COVID procedures were followed but without the overly officious pomposity we unfortunately encountered during our ten day trip around the country. The renovation work has been sympathetic to this lovely old building and the outside space is extensive. We were very happy to dine al fresco on what was a lovely day.The wine list is incredible and is clearly a passion for the owner. Only rarely (perhaps in France) have we seen more a more extensive or lovingly compiled wine list. Many of the wines were well beyond our meagre (civil service) pensions but we were very happy with our modest bottle of rosé which was perfectly chilled. But the real star of this show was the cooking. I had the smoked haddock risotto my wife chose the garlic prawn Caesar salad. Both were cooked/ prepared with absolute precision and consummate skill. This chef really knows what he’s doing. We ate out at least once a day on our trip and this was the best food by a distance. Our stay in the Cotswolds on this occasion was a brief one but we will return and the next time we’ll make the Seven Tuns the focus of it.

My husband and I came for a drink and we’re really impressed with the service and the set-up for social distancing. We decided to try some bar snacks which were served promptly and all delicious. We asked the new owners how post-lockdown was going and the answer was that for a while it had been “touch and go” so we decided to support the place and go back for dinner a couple of weeks later. Once again we were not disappointed - service great, all hygiene and social distancing adhered to. We both ordered the wood pigeon salad for starters which was the perfect size and delicious. I had the smoked haddock and black pudding risotto - extremely tasty fish and crumbly black pudding, just a bit too big. My husband had the Cotswold Wagyu burger - he said it was fab. Pigeon was very good, as was the haddock risotto (very rich so smaller portion recommended) along with some beautiful green wine. My only improvement feedback would be whilst I love the country meets industrial feel, if the lights were dimmed a little and possibly a few candles added around the room it would feel more cosy and help add to the ambiance. The front of the pub doesn’t look so inviting but it has a lovely beer garden looking out at the hills around Chedworth. The service was great. Only criticism is that a service charge of 10%+ was added on to the bill as we were made to pay there and then so didn’t see this until we’d paid and looked at the receipt. The service was good and we would have paid a tip, we just never normally give more than 10% and we like to be given the choice, not forced.

We had booked this pub for Sunday lunch following a walk through the countryside, and oh my, were we in for an unexpected treat! We were very lucky with the weather, so were able to sit outside. They had clearly marked the 2m distances on the floor so you could feel confident that your table was suitably distanced from any other party. Tables were wiped down in front of you. There are sanitising stations doted around, the both food and drink are table service only to avoid people congregating at the bar. The staff are efficient enough to ensure you are not left waiting by this change! Water and menus were served efficiently, as were all subsequent drinks and courses. They noticed if a glass was empty and were on top of refills or clearing! The gardens were stunning, and the menu still plenty full of options, despite cutting it back slightly during the current situation. We shared the chicken wings for a starter- forget greasy, fatty diner style, these were gourmet, and simply divine! The salt and pepper ones were my favourite and I would come back for these alone! We followed with a roast dinner, both rib of beef and pork in our party! The beef was tender, and so flavourful, and cooked to suit all tastes. As for the pork, I was amazed by the generosity of crackling- most establishments give you only the tiniest bit but here it covered the whole portion of pork! It came with all the trimmings, which was also lovely. A good selection of beverages, including after dinner drinks if you’re after a bit of a treat! We travelled to come here and I already can’t wait to come back.

When my wife told me that a service charge was added to our bill for lunch I looked at the menu on the way out and could not see it mentioned. I think a service charge in a pub is a real cheek especially when a cheese burger was £16 and fish and chips were £15 (both very nice). Also we drank a number of beers and to pay a service charge on the beer is even more of a cheek. After all the pubs have had a vat reduction - has this been passed on to the punter here I wonder? We all suffered in lockdown so please don't fleece us!

Stumbled across this place as we were driving through the Cotswolds and we were blown away. It was a beautiful drive to get to this quaint village and the pub itself was incredible. Fantastic service, beautiful garden to sit in and enjoy the views and the food was simply delicious! We had burgers, fish and chips and sandwiched and all were very tasty. An absolute gem and we will be making the visit from Hertfordshire for a Sunday roast soon!

Went for a ride to this place today for Sunday lunch and it was well worth the 83 miles to get there. Excellent service from both the host and his staff and the food was delicious. We ate in the garden which was pretty and well laid out. A very nice setting for a very nice lunch. Looking forward to going back there sometime soon!

Went on 26.07.20 for Sunday lunch as part of a large group. We gave the pub an idea of numbers and choices which was most appreciated. Both the roast beef and the pork went down very well with the slow roasted pork being the star, really gorgeous. Considering it was all table service due to the Gov. Covid-19 guidelines the staff were very efficient and always with a smile.

We turned up and it looked lovely and we were really looking forward to the meal. Great setting, nice gardens, sunny day etc. But the food and experience were awful. I have never sent a plate back but my friends meat was inedible and the potatoes were overcooked and burnt. It came back just as bad. Such a shame as very promising. We paid and went elsewhere for lunch. Also the staff got far too close to customers and at one stage leaned right across me. I saw no sign of covid precautions at the table apart from asking for my name and address. Other restaurants I have eaten in since covid have been much more careful. I felt unsafe. The staff themselves were friendly enough but the kitchen and lack of standards let them down. We were shocked at how poor the food was compared to other pubs and restaurants of this caliber. An expensive lunch....

Simply the best, please visit this beautiful gastropub. We had the most wonderful courgette and parmesan soup with home made bread for starters, succulent perfectly cooked steak and chips with peppercorn sauce for main, wife had garlic butter sauce with mushroom and tomato. We shared a pudding as the mains were so generous. The owner Simon was perfect he advised us on the menu throughout the evening and offered to run us back to Cirencester if we couldn't get a taxi. A brilliant meal with perfect service.

We were aware before we booked that the menu on offer on COVID reopening was more limited than usual but it was a good range of proper food and we all found something delicious. Service was warm and friendly and we felt comfortable, and safe. Tables were well spaced, hand sanitiser etc. Lovely outdoor area too though the weather was not quite kind enough today. Chedworth is a lovely tucked away Cotswold village - a great home for a top pub.

Met here today with relatives for lunch had the veal snitzle and a fish and chips and risotto. All were cooked very much to our liking and with great service followed by a very tasty proper sticky toffee pudding and a chocolate brownie. Staff were observing covid procedures. And it was nice that we could have our guide dog trainee with us. Not the cheapest place to eat but definitely one of the best .

This is a beautful builfing to look at from the outsie nested in Chedworth an epimoty of a wonderful Cotswold village. The interior, atmposhere and food lives up to this really high standard. These are quite high mid-range prices but well worth it. Especially after a long drive to get to our accomodation.

My young daughter has just been diagnosed as Type 1 diabetic. This means she can eat whatever she likes, but her carbs have to be counted in advance so that she can be given the right dose of insulin. Eating out in these early stages is daunting, but the staff at the Seven Tuns went out of their way to make the process simple and efficient, meaning we could settle down and enjoy the fantastic lunch. The food was fantastic - our group had roast beef, pork belly, sausage and mash, plaice and veal dishes, all of which were wonderful and served very promptly. We will definitely be back.

After a long absence, and having heard good things locally about this revived country pub, I enjoyed melt-in-the-mouth roast beef with all the trimmings as my Sunday lunch treat. All local produce – another reason for moving back to live in the area! All cooked to perfection and 100% delicious.Portion size was good, plenty for me, polished off the lot without slowing down! An active Cotswold farmer would probably manage a starter as well as a main course + pudding. I took my time and had space for rhubarb crumble with cream ... it's usually ice cream but they took pity on my teeth for which cold is torment.Plenty of attentive staff, and a nice welcome for a solo diner. I had a book to read, as usual. It is a proper rural location, near the end of Chedworth village .. which has at least 2 ways in / out and at least 2 roads through the middle. Very pretty Cotswold architecture rambling all over the hillside. I don't need satnav here so can't tell you if it's accurate. There is a modestly sized car park. If the weather allows you to sit in the garden, there are gorgeous glimpses of village houses and fields with sheep across the valley.Staff did their best to find me a peaceful corner away from family groups. If I go out to eat on Sunday I have to be prepared for whingeing toddlers: most of the children were lively but still civilised, only one small girl had no off button.Under a long ago regime I used to love eating here, and I brought friends to enjoy the excellent meat. If like me you eat much less meat these days, you want it great quality. The place has been spruced up but not messed about, practical rural chic – if you know what I mean. Not fancy, just comfy. Fun and lovely paintings by local (?) artists for sale on the walls. Dog friendly. A screen for rugby in the bar. Looking forward to more visits and working through other interesting things on the menu ... including Cornish fish stew with saffron and rouille.

This is our 4thvisit to their pub., and it is consistently fantastic. Their pies are amazing, their truffle mac and cheese, sublime, the burgers are excellent......I could go on and on. It is obvious that so much of this menu is home made, and just as importantly, excellent quality. They have a good range of beers, and a particularly wonderful cider on tap. Dogs are welcome, and the staff are a delight. I can’t recommend this pub enough.

Lovely long walk in the Cotswolds this morning followed by great Sunday lunch at The Seven Tuns in Chedworth. It’s been a few years since we were last here and what a transformation! We were greeted warmly by the owner who has certainly worked some magic on the place. Stylish interiors and a really interesting menu: we opted for traditional roast dinner, very nicely done but could have easily been tempted by Cornish seafood stew or beetroot risotto - lots of choice and not run of the mill. Rounded off with a delicious crumble which was certainly generous enough for us to share. Really appreciated the roaring log fires too. A great find and I’m sure we’ll be back.

Booked for Sunday lunch after a walk to the villa and back. The menu is eclectic in a good way and enabling the very best of balances between the simple but well done, the novel, and the upscale. The staff are great, the range of drinks considered and combined with food turned out with care and love what is not to like. It’s a favourite walk with friends but we will be back walking or not.

It's the first time I've visited this particular area of the Cotswolds and Chedworth is the perfect , quintessential , beautiful , British country village - and at the heart of this village is the Sevens Tuns Inn .On entering the Inn we were greeted with a smile and a roaring fire . The decor works so well , it pays homage to its Cotswold heritage with a beautiful exposed Cotswold wall and the dining areas are warm , chic and inviting .The food was excellent , we shared starters of pheasant, smoked salmon, lamb croquettes and Asian chicken wings - all of them were equally my favourite . For my main , I had the Wood Pigeon - I've never had it before and I have to say it was simply divine it was paired with black pudding and a lentil vinaigrette - I could have eaten it again ! It was lovely to find out that all the bread is homemade , the salmon is smoked at the premises and all the butchery is done there too .You get a real sense that the owners are committed in giving you the best dining experience with attention to detail and a warm friendly invitation to return ...... I most certainly will !!

What a gem of a pub. I had a fantastic evening meal here, having dropped in for snack at lunchtime before a muddy local walk. The food and service was excellent and I was astounded by the wine list. Some really interesting bottles at sensible prices. Even the coffee is good. A faultless place, a must visit if you are nearby and worth the travelling from London for me. I wish it was my local!

My friend and I had an absolutely delicious meal here, we ate about 7 dishes between the two of us, as couldn't decide what to order...The chef here clearly knows how to cook and combine ingredients (the pigeon and the fishcake were my personal favourites). Service from Chris and Simon was lovely from the moment we walked in- warm and genuine. They have clearly built up a good rapport with the village as they were greeted by regulars stopping by for a pint or some supper.

We were extremely disappointed by the Seven Tuns. From the outside it looks like a lovely, cosy and characterful country pub. We went in and it was very bleak, white walls, tinny music, no warmth, no cosy atmosphere. We thought this was a real shame. We don't know what it was like before the recent refurbishment, but it's now not worth visiting. Sadly, in a part of the world where there are lots of quaint villages and pretty little cottages, it's a reason to avoid Chedworth. A real, real shame.

Our second visit in two months and once again we had a superb Lunch. Seven Tuns is in a lovely setting almost hidden away in a tiny valley surrounded by beautiful Cotswold countryside . The restaurant has warm and welcoming feel about it and from the moment we arrived , every minute was total enjoyment . The menu is diverse and the four of us all loved everything we chose . Our bottle of Bulgarian wine was unusual and recommended by Jo . Great choice and excellent value . I don’t want to name specific dishes save to say that we all left The Seven Tuns happy and very contented . We can only day that it is one of the nicest and most enjoyable restaurants we have discovered for a long long time .. Will we be coming back ? You bet your bottom dollar we will !!!!!

The staff are exceptional in their efforts to make your stay go well. And I want to note the help… more than help… provided by Steve in changing my friend’s flat bicycle tire. She was having some issues getting it done and he fixed it in minutes. Reception, housekeeping, and waitstaff. Excellent. But especial thanks to Steve.

After walking around Cirencester we chose The Crown for dinner. Although disappointed that the Sunday Roasts were sold out, our party enjoyed a Cheeseburger, Chicken and Mushroom Pie and, from the Children’s Menu, a cheese pizza. The burger was a bit spicy, but all were pleased. The Chicken and Mushroom Pie consisted of chicken, mushrooms and gravy baked in a pastry with a crown on top served on whole peas. Delicious! All servings came with French Fries. We are very glad we found the Crown.

We ordered three fish and chips and one sausages and mash. The lack of actual fish and portion size was very disappointing. Not sure what fish it was but it was greasy fkat and soggy. The sausages were overcooked and dry, the mash was tepid and lumpy and the carrots were cold. The two staff were overworked and we didn't complain at the time as they were doing their best. We would not return to this venue and would recommend others eat elsewhere

I've just visited for a fantastic Sunday roast. I had pork and my friend had turkey. Both meals were excellent - really well cooked (vegetables done just right, separate bowl of cauliflower cheese) delicious crackling on my pork, crispy roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding that we were almost too full to eat. They were very busy but the service was excellent - there were enough waiting staff keeping an eye open. It's a lovely pub too. A very pleasant experience, thank you.
