We stopped for some cream teas on the cafe side of the restaurant. The cream teas were tasty but a little expensive for the size of the scones. However what was truly bad was the manager, she was rude not just to us but to many customers around us. She scolded us one by one for “removing” the reserved sign on our table, even though her employee said it was a walk in table. She rudely told us “if you wanted to come here you should have reserved”. She also didn’t allow us to share our tea pot and refused to bring more cups. This attitude is honestly what made us leave so quickly, we were all uncomfortable and tired of being treated this way. It’s a shame because the cafe is very beautiful.

Everyone working here is soooo accommodating and friendly. They make the most efforts to make you feel comfortable and get you everything you need. We had afternoon tea and that was absolutely lovely. A great price too. £27 for a full tea. For dinner we had the halibut, kids fish and chips, burrata, truffle fries and the side of beans. Almost All was lovely. Would not recommend the burrata it doesn’t have the texture of the good burrata and the portion is quite sad. Even to share

Lovely restaurant within the Swan hotel. The Western facing outdoor dining area makes for a great sunset dinner. We had their seasonal lamb and chicken; both were exceptional between perfect cooking of the meat, and well thought sides and sauces. One can argue on the pricier side but worth the gustatory experience. The focaccia bread was equally superb and worth its own mention. The dessert was unfortunately not prepared with the same care; we ordered crème brûlée and lemon posset and both had a gelatinous texture unexpected for this type of dessert. It was obvious the restaurant was understaffed with lengthy service, although nevertheless friendly. Whether this was due to staff also catering for a wedding on the day or the usual, be prepared to dine at a steady pace. Overall we would come back, we would make sure to book in advance, and be more picky on the dessert.

I took a large group of American travellers for dinner in mid-July 2024 and we had the most wonderful experience at The Swan. Molly was excellent beforehand ensuring that the booking was accurate and that all our group members' food intolerances and allergies were catered for. We ate in the library, at a long table and whilst we didn't opt to decorate there was plenty of space in the middle for candelabra or flowers for a different sort of occasion. The service from Maria, who took care of the group that day, was excellent, and the chefs who cooked the meal also popped in to say hello to the group, which was a nice touch. The food was excellent and the hotel altered dishes to cater for our guests who had specific allergies. A big thank you to Molly, Maria and the chefs at the Swan for contributing to a wonderful evening.

We came here for dinner as part of their dine and stay package, and our dinner was superb. We had the duck parfait followed by the chateaubriand, which was cooked perfectly (medium rare). The staff were really helpful and friendly, and nothing was too much bother. The service was perfectly timed. The drinks were quite expensive but it's a hotel, so I tend to expect that.. the house style bottle of red was good at around £30 I'd recommend dinner here and suggest staying open-minded about some of the other reviews. We enjoyed a wonderful experience at The Swan

A group of friends meet up once a year just to catch up, If you think that fish and chips (small piece of haddock barely warm in some kind of thin batter) and a pudding (probably bought in because it was nice) is worth paying over £40 for then you will like this place. Lovely building and great location but less quality food than the average cheap pub food but for 4 times the price!

Had lunch here during our drive through Cotswolds. Really good food and quality cooking, we all loved our choices, which were a very delicious chicken and leek pie, and burger, perfect fish and chips, and very good chicken liver pate. Service was great and friendly and the ale was great. Would recommend highly, and surprised at the low rating by previous reviewers, as the food and experience was definitely 5 stars.

I booked a table recently for Sunday lunch (at 12:15) although there was only one other table in use (inside) when we arrived so I don't think a booking was necessary (although there were a number of outside tables in use). The staff were all very friendly and the food was generally very nice, the broccoli was a little too al-dente and personally I would have liked the roast potatoes to be crispier but it was all still very tasty. The beef was cooked perfectly and the Yorkshire pudding was delicious!

Not impressed I'm afraid!! :-( First off the bar staff had no record of our booking even though we had booked and had email confirmation. Bar staff then decided to talk amongst themselves which we felt was quite rude! Food then eventually came incorrect despite waiting over 40 mins even though food was being taken to other tables who ordered after us. Food was ok - nothing special and portions quite small for price. Location lovely so was a real shame to have this bad experience.

Staff were super nice and friendly. The only thing that really let the whole thing down was the fact we paid £8.50 for the beef croquettes, and they came out and they were 2 tiny patty’s. The venue is lovely but the food and finesse was disappointing. We chose our meal only to be told that we had been given an old menu and that there were updated ones although we were not offered one, we were given a rough idea of what was on it. We had Sunday lunch and both had lamb. It was really fatty and the fat was not rendered so not edible. The Yorkshire pudding was cold and greasy. Veg was OK. On looking around the restaurant decor was lovely. While drinking our coffee we watched the table next to us being laid and the cutlery being placed using the fork prongs etc. We then watched while a table had the gentleman's plate etc removed while his wife was still eating. So in short. Lovely venue. Food disappointing. Some staff need training. Not worth the money

Really poor. Initially we booked in the restaurant but, having looked at the website, decided we preferred the food in the bar. I telephoned and changed the booking, explaining that we preferred the simpler menu in the bar. When we got there we were told they didn’t do the bar food anymore and the website had not been updated since before Covid. How complacent is that? They also had clearly not informed their staff because the person I spoke to on the telephone obviously did not know that. We were then offered ‘complimentary’ bread which came with a type of garlic butter but it was set out on a slate that was boiling hot, so the butter melted and started going all over the table and the waitress had to take it away again. Just bizarre for a really expensive restaurant that is setting itself as having pretty high end food, to get something so basic wrong

It has absolutely no atmosphere and given its situation within the most beautiful village imaginable it really ought to be heaving with people.

The food was lovely but the restaurant lacked ambience and it is on the pricey side. Still, in a beautiful spot.

This place is a bit deceiving as it looks like a local pub from outside. As you go in, you find a bar area followed by a brasserie type of restaurant. Food was okay, very tiny portions and quite expensive, yet service was great and staff very helpful. Atmosphere nice and more appropriate for a date rather than family meal.

Everything for each of us was excellent. The appetizers were delicious. The tomahawk steak was fantastic. The staff made special amends for us and we topped it off with very tasty desserts.

This lovely hotel provided welcome respite in the rain. We enjoyed good gin and tonics in front of the fire in comfortable surroundings. I see that some people complain about the prices but seriously this isn't Wetherspoons but a lovely comfortable hotel lounge in an upmarket gorgeous Cotswold village where the tourists flock. We would visit again.

Over the past 5 years my wife and I have eaten on a number of occasions in the bar area of the hotel. Quite often we have had the Fish Platter. We have noticed that each time the menu has changed the price of the platter has increased but the variety and quantity have decreased. On this occasion the hotel has excelled itself by charging £30 for two with a menu which has significantly reduced choice and quantity. We counted 5 so called prawns each. I mentioned this to the waiter but no acknowledgement or apology was forthcoming. I am afraid this whole experience could mean we do not dine their again.

We enjoyed a lunch of soup, steak ciabatta and smoked chicken salad all with accompaniments. The Cotswold Ale and the Merlots were perfect and the service was good and very friendly. We look forward to our next visit here.

We have visited the swan on a number of occasions and this evenings visit was just as special as the rest. This place is a stunning mix of a county inn and fine dining, it is a truly exquisite experience. The service and the quality of food is exceptional and we would recomend to anyone. The staff cannot do more for you and are happy to stop and chat.Even though it is part of a group it is so nice to see the chefs have free reign to create there own menus and dishes. The portion sizes are perfect for you to enjoy a 3 course meal without feeling too full that the end. Thank you for a lovely evening again we will be back soon.

Stopped here for lunch after a long walk. Lots of fresh homemade food and special cocktails , home made lemonade , sangria etc. Main courses £15/17, puds £7/9. Good range of veggie options. We had sandwiches at £10 each. Not the cheapest but fresh and good value .

The food was fairly nice although on expensive side, the service was terrible. Arrived for a late Sunday lunch to a half empty restaurant. Despite being quiet nobody came to take our drinks order for 15 minutes - by then our young daughter who repeatedly asked for a drink became very upset. Had to go and ask for our table to be serviced.Once we had our mains, we had to sit for ages amongst the dirty dishes - nobody came to clear them. Impossible to catch the eyes of the staff, they do not appear to take any interest in customers. The table next to us got tired of waiting and after sitting with their hand raised for a while and still being ignored, they had to go to the bar to ask for someone to come to take their orders. The waiting staff seemed to be instead preoccupied with setting the empty tables, or disappearing to the bar/ kitchen. Our waiter didn’t check if everything was ok with our food once we started or if we enjoyed it at the end - quite basic things. I could carry on. The front of the house is bringing down the restaurant and would benefit from training.

Such a great find. Lovely, clean room in a quiet spot. Continental breakfast was perfect with some great little touches such as homemade jam. Well worth the money and I hope to come back again soon.

The food quality was only so-so, service was very slow though the pub was almost empty. The food took a very long time to arrive, the scampi was overdone, I ordered mushy peas and they brought garden peas, a very small portion./ Won't be going to this pub again.

After walking around Cirencester we chose The Crown for dinner. Although disappointed that the Sunday Roasts were sold out, our party enjoyed a Cheeseburger, Chicken and Mushroom Pie and, from the Children’s Menu, a cheese pizza. The burger was a bit spicy, but all were pleased. The Chicken and Mushroom Pie consisted of chicken, mushrooms and gravy baked in a pastry with a crown on top served on whole peas. Delicious! All servings came with French Fries. We are very glad we found the Crown.
