I am continuing my trip around Helensburgh's restaurants and takeaways. I think I need my own food critique job! 😁 Have always avoided Magic Wok as it doesn't have great ķèrb appeal. However, I saw the other reviews and most seemed positive. I always judge a Chinese by it's chicken and sweetcorn soup, just to keep a consistent order. Was very nice. Chicken cashew nuts were a little salty but perfectly edible. Honey chicken was a little dry but my fault as I didn't realise it didn't come with a sauce. Rice lovely and complimentary prawn crackers. Would definitely order again.

Very poor munchie box. Dry chips with the occasional shred of onion. Two small chicken balls and some very dry wings. Very disappointed as I had a much nicer one on a previous visit a year ago.

One Mull for a long weekend with the wife. We chose a curry after several nights of pub meals, and it was the worst choce ever. We has what was the the worst Chicken Korai ever ordered, it was just chicken in oil with no real sauce to eat. Just wet mush. The starter grilled Chicken Tika on a skewer wasnt particularly nice either. My wife and i were the only people in the restaurant all evening, with exception of one takeaway What really finished our night off was the ladies had been out of order all evening. Before we left my wife had to use the bathroom, and someone had been in the gents and urimated everywhere, the whole very small cubicle was splashed in urine, even on the sink. It was absolutely disgusting. Would never go again. A microwave takeaway from the Coop would be a better option. Just awful

Decided to visit this restaurant for a bit of lunch. I’ve been to quite a few Indian restaurants before and this one was quite dissatisfying. The food was below average 😬I had ordered, Starters - Chicken Pakora which was very hard to chew. Mains - Lamb Bhuna which was hardly spicy with very few meat. (You could cook it better yourself at home) The portions were quite small as well. Only thing was that it had quick turnaround time because no one else was there. So I don’t how it will fare if gets busy.

It was a wet Saturday night in April. Only 2 other people sitting in but, decided to go in. The food was absolutely delicious. Had the platter for 2, this was a selection of starter. The mains were equally very good. The service was excellent, the chef popped out to ask if the food was ok. Highly recommended. The takeaway was very busy.

This was our first “Scottish Chinese” takeaway so we don’t know if it’s normal, but to us it was very odd. A chicken chow mein with thin Singapore noodles rather than thick noodles, no beansprouts and very dry, almost no sauce. The crispy pancake roll was all coating and not much filling – could have come out of a box? The egg fried rice was also very dry, like something that’s been reheated with no added moisture. The lemon chicken was passable but in no way good or exceptional and the won ton soup was also passable but nothing more. All a bit disappointing as we haven’t had a Chinese meal for a while. Not recommended.
