Magic Wok Chinese Takeaway in Argyll & Bute

I am continuing my trip around Helensburgh's restaurants and takeaways. I think I need my own food critique job! 😁 Have always avoided Magic Wok as it doesn't have great ķèrb appeal. However, I saw the other reviews and most seemed positive. I always judge a Chinese by it's chicken and sweetcorn soup, just to keep a consistent order. Was very nice. Chicken cashew nuts were a little salty but perfectly edible. Honey chicken was a little dry but my fault as I didn't realise it didn't come with a sauce. Rice lovely and complimentary prawn crackers. Would definitely order again.

Have been using Magic Wok consistently for a number of years and it has always been really good however, it has recently gone right downhill. Not sure if it's a new chef but we had a couple of bland takeaways in recent weeks but stuck with them. This culminated with last night's offering which was plain terrible. The chicken curry in particular was awful (one of the worst I've ever had). Given that takeaways have become an expensive treat for us lately It's time to move on to somewhere else!

Great menu, food is consistently excellent. Never have to wait too long. Staff are helpful and friendly.

The best Asian takeaway in Helensburgh. Food is consistently amazing and staff are so friendly. Would highly recommend the Korean kimchi chicken wings and the Malaysian satay.

Having tried a few of the Chinese restaurants and takeaways in Helensburgh this has now become our go to for excellent food time after time - the Golden Crispy Chicken Satay being my favourite...

Just aff the phone tae ma taste buds and they said, the balance of that Malaysian Sambal King Prawn Chow Mein was one word 3 syllables: out-stand-ing!

I love coming here for a takeaway. All the food is prepared to a high standard and service is always friendly. I've tried plenty of dishes on the menu and would particularly recommend their hot selection of rice - especially the sambal! It's rare to find Malaysian food and the selection here is great. You don't have to stick to one or two favourite dishes, everything is wonderful.

Good varied food and friendly staff. They cater for food allergies and will suggest alternative meals. You should give it a try.

We ordered a carry out on Christmas eve and I'm sorry to say that it was a big disappointment.My daughter a dish chicken and black bean sauce, the chicken was disgusting and was not edible. (Joined the rubbish bin)I had a chicken fried rice and the rice was very, very dry and tasteless, but on a good note, the chicken was edible.We will not be back. Shame they were good, once upon a time.

You can order alot of regular coated food Gluten free. This is great news for anyone with wheat allergies. They like you to order the day before to ensure it's done in time and no risk of cross contamination, it is a busy takeaway after all

We had a good-size group (family relatives etc) so decided to order several dishes to share. The portions were significant and everything was delicious, hot and 'on point'. Dishes varied from curry style to the traditional classics. Recomended

We are up here from London visiting friends. The crispy spicy chicken satay and the salt and pepper squid were perfect. Great Food at great prices, very delicious meal can’t recommend enough.

Quick delivery, food fresh and hot and exceptionally cheap for the portions and wonderful service provided. Best take out in town. Absolutely recommended.

Went in to this carry out Chinese for to order food, but they were extremely slow, either not enough cooks in the kitchen or to many orders.Had to wait at least 30mins, but their telephone was ringing a lot with their ordering app.Eventually got the order but I found the Foo Yung very dry and rubbery.Not ordering this again.

I’ve been ordering from here for a while now and has never disappointed me! They have so many options for classic Chinese food to new unique dishes. Not to mention they have massive portion sizes! I would recommend their new Chinese chicken pakora and the golden spicy chicken satay dishes, they are delicious! Would recommend to anyone looking for a good takeaway, or wanting to try something new!

Awful food. Bland. Ribs almost all fat. Satay sauce very oily and worst of all the mozzarella chicken isn’t even mozzarella. Tastes like triangle cheese and has the same consistency. Phoned to ask what cheese they use and was lied to. I eat a lot of Italian food and mozzarella is by far my favourite cheese. Nothing like it. Worst Chinese I’ve ever had by far.

Love this takeaway. Whenever and whatever we order is always hot, fresh and really tasty. The staff are friendly and accommodating. A very varied menu and good, speedy deliveries.

Our Chicken dishes were all over cooked and chewy. Lovely staff. Very friendly but this seems to be a common problem in all of the Chinese takeaways in Helensburgh.

Interesting menu, with some Malayan and Korean influences. Food excellent, very tasty and good portions. Will definitely be going again.
