We met Mr Lee whilst I was going past him stood outside the Bonnie Clyde. He saw me and knew I wasn't local. Anyway he spoke Hakka and as such we briefly chatted. He then followed us in to the restaurant having a chat with Kyke and the kitchen staff as well as ourselves. We said we must try his restaurant but alas he said children moved away he runs it as a takeaway now. The lad loves Chinese food anyway and after a few drinks on our last night we went to the takeaway he recognised us and had a chat even getting my mum on the phone to chat. Anyway we ordered the boy wanted to try a munchies box, we ordered satay chicken , spring roll, bbq pork and chicken, sweet and sour chicken, noodles , sea dragon soup, sea dragon combo, fried rice and some chicken strips. All very substantial and rather too much really. But we ordered and the munchies box is a complete meal of good ribs, salt and pepper chicken, chicken strips and chips. A quality one compared to the one I saw Danny get on ratemytakeaway. The roast pork char siu was excellent tasty and not dry like some places. Chicken satay tasty curry alternative. Excellent chow mein. We were not disappointed with the food we got here. His daughter had come back to help and we chatted to them all very friendly staff and family owned. A gem

We ordered a takeaway for delivery on Friday night. The staff member who took our order initially said 20 minutes then revised it to 45 which we said was not a problem. However after an hour it had still not arrived; we called and it was clear they had forgotten our order. The staff member said it would be 15 minutes more because they had been busy; not really apologising. I asked for a discount or a waive of the delivery charge but they said this wasn’t possible. When the food DID arrive 20 min later it was huge portions, hot and very tasty.Shame about the service - we’ll try somewhere else next time.

Visiting Rothesay for the first time since childhood and found this lovely wee restaurant with its friendly staff. It’s only serving takeaway at the moment due to Covid but that didn’t put us off. My husband and I couldn’t believe the size of the portions and the food was delicious and fresh. We had planned on eating somewhere else the following night but couldn’t resist trying something else from the menu. Will definitely be making this our go to place when we return later this year. Fingers crossed it’s able to open up for dining again by then so we can enjoy its traditional atmosphere.

Popped in last night after a long drive. Can not fault it. The staff were lovely, food was plentiful and delicious. It was one of our friends birthdays and one of the staff went out to get her a birthday cake!! Second to none. You can’t buy alcohol, it’s a bring your own restaurant but the co-op is minutes away. Would definitely return if I came back. Thank you

Not going to lie felt like a pop up shop. 4 of us which was fine. But 6 came in and there was no way could a 4 and a 2 sit separate. It was like 2 of you just can’t sit here ans half full a table and eat! No alcohol license but the pub next door allows you to buy and take it in? Not sure how legal that is? Or pop to the co op and bring your own. Told this twice! Which granted is a good thing. I wasn’t told that the last time I tried to order wine. Satay came mixed in the sauce and very spicy. Chow mein was nice and fresh. Fried rice looked good. Chips usual Chinese style. Very quick too. Waitress was really attentive if slightly rushed. Must be 30 people sittings in total plus take away and they deliver. Bill - 2 separate families clearly too. Told bill was full total and can’t pay separate as don’t have time to add it, we should have said at the start. Don’t have time to faff with doing it as they would get a row and they don’t want that? I’m all for good chat with the staff but being told they can’t separate a bill as it will cause a “row” isn’t what I want to hear.

As we were staying Just one night in Rothesay we decided to call in to the Chinese for a meal. We were very warmly welcomed and told of we wanted alcohol that the pub next door would sort us out! My husband went next door and was told that he only sold small bottles of wine...but kindly directed him to the coop! Such helpful people. We enjoyed Singapore noodles, chicken in oyster sauce and egg friend rice...along with our wine. It’s only a small place...but plenty of people were calling in for takeaways!

This restaurant makes you so welcome as Colin is such an excellent waiter and serves with so much enthusiasm to make your night most enjoyable. Cannot understand why Sea Dragon has had couple of nasty reviews as I have stayed on the island for 32 years and would not have went to any other chinese restaurant but Sea Dragon. Well done to all staff keep up the good work towards customer satisfaction. Had a wonderful Father's Day Meal.

Asked locals what was the best Chinese takeaway in Rothesay and was told the Sea Dragon. Well all I can say is I pity the residents of Rothesay if this is the best. I had a beef curry with fried rice and my wife had lemon chicken with fried rice. Both meals were disgusting and after only a couple of mouthfuls were binned. We certainly won’t be visiting this place again.

We got a Home delivery from the sea dragon, the first time in over10 years , the reason for that was the standard of food it was a hit or a miss. So we had heard good reports recently so we gave it a go.the spring rolls and ribs were just OK but the mains were disgusting luminous chicken kung po in a pink watery liquid, knackered noodles, stodgy fried rice , rubber beef in black Bean sauce and the handsome price of £28 for to put it straight in the bin it's the worst food I've been served anywhere. Do your self a favour and cook at home.

Seven of us turned up at 10pm on a Friday night as it was the only place opened, went in and thought oh dear... waiter was just about to be sent home for the night, so wasn't too pleased. No cola, no diet cola, no wine, no alcohol...Luckily co op next door was opened and wine was bought. We ordered Vegetable Curry, Chicken Curry, Chicken in a black Bean sauce and a few other dishes i can't remember. When the food came it looked yummy and tasted like a Chinese should. food was hot and we didn't have to wait too long. Place looks a bit dated but the food and wee waiter made up for it. Just returned from my annual hols in Rothesay & as usual visted the Sea Dragon on a Saturday night. It was after 22:00 by which time it's one of the only places open. I had to buy my beer from the pub next door as the Co-op had jsut cloesd. They were out of the King Prawns, which was a dissapointment but the duck & ginger was excellent & made up for it. The decor hasn't changed & it really could do with an upgrade but for a quick & tasty meal it's fine. Not for romantic dinners!

Decided for our final evening in Rothesay to have a Chinese and settled on the jade garden as it had better reviews but on our way discovered it had been closed for a while. While the decor is nothing to write home about, the food was well prepared and very tasty. We had the mixed satay and Szechuan king prawn with a bowl of fried rice between us which was more than enough without excess. No alcohol can be served but you can bring your own and there is a Co-op just a few doors down.

Popped for a chinese to the sea dragon last night and it was really very good. Maybe not as flash as its bigger competitor the Jade Garden, but I like this one better. It is smaller, friendlier and very very cheap. The owner / chef is such a nice man and so helpful nothing seems too much trouble. I was a bit difficult with my order and wanted house special fried rice with no chicken, and he made the best one I have ever had. It was enormous with 6 huge slices of roast portk in gravy on top.So there was that (it fed 2), 2 portions of sweet and sour king prawn, fried rice, noodles, chips and of course the mammoth house special all for £24. That is very inexpensive, all served with a smile, in a warm and cosy place.
