The best restaurants serving Chinese food in England

The list of negatives Late delivery Sweet and sour sauce was more like jelly. Chicken satay skewers did not come with any sauce. The chow mein had a burnt taste to it above the usual seasoning of the pan. All food was just about warm enough to still be edible but not enough to be enjoyable. Such a shame.

I’ve not had a ‘Chinese’ takeaway for ages, so thought I’d give my local and nearest a try. I chose the set meal ‘A’ for Two People, and it came with plenty of food; in fact it would easily feed 3 if not 4 people with average appetites. The menu comprised: * Chicken & Sweet Corn Soup * Crispy Curry Won Ton * Prawn Crackers • Sweet & Sour Chicken • Beef with Green Pepper in Black Bean Sauce / • Fried Mxed Vegetables • Egg Fried Rice. In terms of freshness and quantity I couldn’t fault anything; BUT it was fairly bland with almost no taste. The Beef actually has a chilli next to it on the list of individual items, but there was no trace of heat nor taste of any chilli. The S&S Chicken had the most flavour but there must’ve been more veg than chicken, and not enough S&S sauce. I paid extra to have Special Fried Rice instead of Egg Fried and it was tasteless, and missing most of the so called Special bits. If it feeds 4, then for six pounds per head it’s not bad value; IF however you’re like me and you base a good review on the quality and taste of the food, then this is no more than mediocre at best.

Nice food, very quickly prepared! Decent portions, too - I usually have enough left over for the following day! Been back a few times recently and the food's as good as ever! Nice to have a place like this nearby, where you know the taste and quality of the food is always consistently good. Been in today - the food's as good as ever! Walked in, ordered my food, and less than 10 minutes I was walking home with my tea! Staff friendly as ever and the food still consistently great! Highly recommended! 10/10 Just been back again tonight after a long day at work.. Food is just as good as it's ever been! Portion size is great, and no complaints about the quality of the food either. No wonder they've always got food deliveries being collected! Very popular place with consistently good food. Highly recommended. Been a while since I've been in, but I felt like treating myself! The food tonight was top notch! I've even got some leftovers for tomorrow as well!

We have used this restaurant for many years, and this is the first time leaving a review! Possible an injustice on my behalf. Tonight we had a considerable delay in delivery - which was an inconvenience, however it is too easy to forget about the years of good food and consistency we have had in the past. It's very easy to shatter a reputation on one bad experience - which I why I felt compelled to write this. We will definitely be re ordering as no one is infallible and I appreciate things happen.

Wow, the price increase is becoming unreal, had the same meal for years. Within the last year the cost has increased from £22.00 to £30 last night, it will be my last. Food's good when correct, but there is no justification for the continued increases, love to know how much of that goes to the tax man 😀

Can’t comment on atmosphere as we had a takeaway, firstly, we were overcharged, because we wondered why it costs £53.20 for 5 dishes, plus 3 sauces, plus when we got our order, we had an extra chicken fried rice which was not ordered. Furthermore, BBQ sauce tasted like oily water, sweet and sour sauce was okay, and curry sauce full of oil. Chicken satay had no flavour and tasted rubbery, and beef curry was very chewy, could not swallow. Very disappointed beaches we were recommended this restaurant but won’t be using again. Would respect a response due to the fact we were overcharged and underwhelmed.

Some difficulty in understanding me by lady answering the phone led me talking to Chinese man. Considering it was a Friday evening, I wasn’t surprised when told delivery up to 45 minutes. However food actually arrived after some 20 minutes. It was hot and fresh and the beef was tender. Wife had chicken balls and had a suprise when some apple balls added foc! Lovely. So will definitely use again 👍😊🙏

I hadn’t had a Chinese takeaway for months, simply because I was unable to find one that I liked since I moved to the North East. Thank goodness I’ve found one that I’m very happy with. My food arrived hot, on time and with generous portions and, more importantly, the fried rice wasn’t overwhelmingly flavoured with a gravy mix which some Chinese takeaway’s use. Well done The Yellow Dragon now that I’ve found you I shall be a regular 😀

Always amazing, very polite staff, always a pleasant experience. I usually order curry and rice (pretty basic I know) but the curry hasn’t got that weird sweetness, everything is cooked fresh to order and honestly that’s a flex. They don’t take card payments which is a shame, but in such a little village it’s not really a problem.
