All the food we had looked really appetising but everything had absolutely no flavour whatsoever. Bbq spare ribs were tasteless and so was the king prawn fried rice, tasteless stodge. Very disappointing when you’re on holiday.

Might be a good idea if you sort your mice problem out it was so embarrassing and put me off the food you that’s a serious health issue

Not best place. Been there once and I wouldn't go there again. I had chicken balls, pork balls and prawn balls. Pork balls were really terrible had to throw them in bin, rest was like 3 out of 5. Sauces not best. Salt and spices chicken not best either. Same as Singapore vermicili. 3 out of 5 in general.

I was sadly disappointed in my takeaway meal, which was two vegetable dishes. I asked for vegan and explained what that was (no animal foods, including eggs and fish sauce) and I had to return with one dish as they added eggs. The vegetables were disappointing as there was only onion, water chestnut, bamboo shoots, baby corn, canned mushrooms, and sliced carrots. No broccoli or anything green. It would've been great if they were good as they are located around the corner from my office but I don't think that I'll be going back. A redeeming point is that they did honour my request to not add any MSG.

Delicious takeaway! Food was wonderful! I would also like to say the lady on the phone who took the order was lovely and helpful. The lady who delivered our dinner was a pleasure to meet! Thank you to all, what a wonderful team you are.

Amazing! One of the best King Prawn Udon Noodles I have ever tried. Not the biggest of the portions, but very generous with the prawns

Reasonable Chinese takeaway. Nothing special . We are having a week in Rye and fancied a Chinese. This place had got the best reviews,so we gave it a go. Not as good as our regular at home, but decent enough .

BEST Chinese EVER ! We first had a take away in 2021, during our first visit to Rye. And we're back again in 2023, and started our holiday with a Take away from here... Just as nice as we remembered... Never had a Chinese like it !!! Flavours are amazing ! Expecially beef dishes ! Melt in you month!!

Tried as I usually go to the other in town. Let down with higher prices and smaller servings. Staff lovely and friendly but in my eyes, not value for money

Far too much MSG for my liking and it's the sort of place where , if you order the wrong thing it terrible and the right thing, it's OK. Nothing really srand out good.

I always have: Chicken in Thai sauce but change it to Kung Po Sauce. Fantastic dish, consistently excellent. Battered chicken breast in a thick spicy and sweet sauce. I recommend this place.

Had a takeaway from here and have to say it was delicious.. chicken chow mein, curry sauce, ribs dry, crispy pancake rolls, beef with mushrooms, chicken fried rice omg how greedy were we... just have to say it was GORGEOUS!! Thank you.

Absolutely delicious, and they even leave out the beansprouts from my chow mein - just as I ask them to. Delivery is quick too. I order from here regularly and it's always perfect! Cannot fault them!

Great takeaway, don't really know what people are moaning about. Had the Roast Pork with Strong Beans aka Char Siu Pork with Egg Friend Rice, Deep Fried Won Ton and my friend has the Crispy Shreedee beef and it did the job well.

The quality of the food is indescribable, Chow Mein was gloopy and mushy, the beef in blackbean sauce was thick, gloopy, salty and inedible. I drove 5 miles home only to find one of the main dishes was missing so did the 10 mile round trip to collect it but wish I hadn't bothered.

Unhappy house :( about 6 months ago I had a Chinese from here and it was excellent but just had a delivery and it was the worst Chinese I've ever had, everything was dripping with fat and chow mein was black and dripping with oil, sweet and sour was more like sour water, can't believe I've recommended this to people, avoid at all costs, im gutted

Absolute waste of money, the duck has been crucified, the skin is horrible, the chow mein was the worst I’ve ever had, the spare ribs don’t even look like spare ribs! Please don’t make the mistake I did

Flavoured a little differently and not as spicy as I’m used to. But good overall taste and generous portions. Worth a try/visit.

Just had a take away from Happy House and it was excellent. Had Dry spare ribs, chicken curry, large spring rolls and chips were brilliant.

Just down the road from The Landgate sitting between The Queens p/h and Yummies kebab. The Happy House doesn't look much from the outside, but the staff are always happy, the menu is plentiful something for everyone, and reasonably priced. You also get generous portions. The crispy duck is the best in Rye. This is a regular of ours today the food was very flavoursome and nutritious. However today the Satay Chicken on Skewers was lacking in flavour and the chicken slightly greasy. Despite this little upset we will still continue to use The Happy House. Give it a try.

Thought I would try even though I read some of the reviews, god I wish I listened I honestly have never eaten such awful food, the hot and sour soup tasted of tee bags? how is that possible, the sweet and sour chicken was just chicken in batter no sauce or pineapple and the worst was the vermicelli Singapore noodles they were disgusting they were all mushy with no flavour? The rice was doable and that's all we had because the rest went in the bin after one mouthful. NEVER AGAIN!!!

Brilliant service bountiful food

Cheap ingredients equals cheap smirks, it's ok for the average Chinese eater but for people that know about proper flavours and quality, avoid at all costs!!! as the saying goes "can't beat a yous" Proper disappointed 🙁

Just had a delivery from here and have to say it was the best chinese food we have ever tasted in RYe... lived here for 7 years and never tried them before... was amazing.

We arrived in Rye on a Friday evening, hungry. Happy House was a few days down from where we were staying and we ordered thinking we'd have to wait a while but 25mins later, we had some of the most delicious Chinese food we've ever had. Piping hot, full of flavour and brilliant value too.

Have to wait on the pavement due to covid restrictions but worth the wait as the food was very good.

Disgusting would not recommend, sweet sour sauce like water, curry sauce bitter and awful taste, crispy chilli beef no flavour tasted of old chip oil, chicken stays full of grease and flavourless

Food is always good, very good value for money. Always ready when they say, and lovely and hot. Good vegetarian options.

Our regular Chinese closed so looked elsewhere definitely worth going back

i really love the food from here. Not high end, nor haute cuisine but we love this and have it during every visit to Rye. We love the traditional aspect of this food and usually have King Prawn Curry, Vegetable curry with egg fried rice and mushroom fu yeung. Absolutely delicious every time.

please dont order from there,we were told over the phone the price to pay.when it arrived the deliver man told us £10 more than we were told.he was very rude about it.when we paid the extra £10 it was cold and the order was wrong.it isnt the first time we been there,but it will be the last time.please please dont order from there.i dont want to put a star but it wont let me post this if i didnt.

Home delivery recommended when you just don't want to cook. Good variety of food.

Do yourself a a big favour and make sure that you avoid this place with the eyes closed when walking down on that street.That place should get an award for the worse food ever produce in the history of UK and China!!You better eat straight from the toilet,before you flush the water!In my opinion,that cook should be arrested for poisoning people on the daily basis!We have to get rid of these criminals!

It was OK. Food was hot but not that great. The crispy chilli beef was far from crispy.

Had a takeaway for our anniversary. Ordered and half hour later collected. Was loads of food, hot and delicious. Enjoyed it so much we had it again the next week and will be having again this week. Nice friendly staff Lovely food. Thank you! 👌

My wife and I stayed in Rye and decided to have a Chinese takeaway. We checked on line and were initially put off the Happy House because of the negative reports. However it transpired that this was the only Chinese open on Monday, so we went ahead. What a wonderful surprise, the food was excellent and good value for money and the pineapple fritters were absolutely gorgeous and the best we ever had. We will definitely use this takeaway again when next in Rye, and please try the pineapple fritters you won't be disappointed.

I have been going to this Chinese takeaway for 30 years and it has always been so delicious. My favourite Chinese takeaway in town. I always have the Udon noodles with king prawn and my partner has the chicken in black bean sauce with large pancake rolls. Please don't be put of by that previous review as the place is very clean when you walk in and does not smell. The food is top notch. I'm particular when it comes to quality and cleanliness and I will continue using this place. I wish I could eat their food everyday. Thank you Happy House.

we collected a takeaway from here for a birthday evening with family should of known how bad it was going to be from the damp horrible smell that hits you when you walk in the door..it was truly awfull grey rice brown sweet and sour sauce and three differant coloured meats in a beef dish yuc ! im sure they will not be bothered but we will never be returning.

Had a lovely meal from here and we enjoyed it so much we had it 2nd night but we got it delivered to where we was staying at park Dean. Delivery was on time and food was very hot. Next time we are that way we will use this chinese again.

After long days out sightseeing we stayed in and ordered Chinese takeaway. Good quality, very tasty and the portion sizes were very fair. Extremely tasty and non greasy prawn crackers. All reasonably priced

Nos quedamos muy contentos de encontrar este pequeño chino como todos los bares/restaurantes eran realmente lleno y nos estaban empezando a pensar si teníamos que ir a la gasolinera a comprar nuestra cena. . . . . . .Señora de la recepción fue muy amable y la comida llegó muy rápido. Sin embargo la comida era horrible. Yo probé el pollo con fideos udon, llegó sin verduras y era increíblemente grasienta sin sabor alguno. El pollo con nueces de anacardo era también terrible junto con los rollos de primavera de verduras.

Ordered from Happy House whilst on Holiday in Camber. Service was quick and efficient - they told us it would be 15-20 mins and they'd call when the delivery driver was leaving from which time it'd be roughly 8 minutes and that is exactly what happened. Getting what you order shouldn't come as a surprise and the amount of times we've ordered from takeaways and got incomplete orders is a common occurrence - not here, we got everything we ordered. The food we got was really very good, probably the best Chinese we've had in a long time. Portion sizes were pretty much as you'd expect since all takeaways seem to use the same size plastic tubs and it was cheaper than we're used to at our local £41 to feed 5 and we still had a bit of food left over as we couldn't eat another bite.All in all, excellent and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone.

I ordered a take away from here as my one I usually get it from was closed never again it was nasty in fact nasty isn't the world the chicken curry is all the yuk bits of the chicken and is like a load of slop the chicken and mushroom had no flavour and the fact that half of it was cold when I got it back hoe I wouldn't recommend this take away to my dog let alone a human being

Ordered a takeaway consisting of 2 chicken curries, bbq spare ribs, chicken balls and chips. Well the chips were soggy, the chicken was dry and the ribs were just bones. The curries were ok and the boiled rice was stodgy.

Do not eat here under any circumstances! even if all other nearby restaurants are closed, you would be better to starve, you're stomach would thank you for it. I called Happy House immediately after eating two bites of my food to complain & offer advice on the matter only to be spoken to by what sounded like a child going through puberty who has just been told off! no offer of a refund & I was shouted at down the phone. If you want to make yourself I'll then eat here. Happy House had one opportunity to make right and the purposely chose not too. Good luck to if you go there!

I go back time and time again! There's another two rival outlets in the small town and they just don't live up to expectation, this place never lets me down! Nothing too fancy, just good quality, well priced Chinese food!

We were staying in a caravan in Camber Sands and googled local takeaways for our first night. After coming across the Happy House I rang to see if they delivered - which they said yes. I ordered the following:Sesame prawn toastSpare ribs in BBQ sauceChicken satay on skewers (which I couldn't find on the menu so I asked for he said yeah I can do that if you want)Sweet and sour chicken ballsEgg fried riceSingapore noodles He told me it would be £27 and they would call when they were going to deliver so we could meet them. 45mins later this is what arrived:Sesame prawn toast - completely overcooked over powering smell / taste of prawn combined with the taste of oil from the deep fat fryer which clearly hadn't been changedSpare ribs - bright orange sauce covered bones with the smallest bit of chewy "meat" on themChicken satay - skewers with some form of processed meat in a chilli, dark brown oil sauce which tasted nothing like peanutsSweet and sour chicken balls - overcooked chicken nuggets which were rock hard and had the same dirty fat tasteSingapore noodles - dry no flavour Egg fried rice - I am told by my husband this was edible but I had given up by this pointTo top it off the prawn crackers were also vile It was the biggest waste of money ever and had it not been 10pm on the day we arrived I would've kicked up a fuss and asked for my money back. Quite simply disgusting
