If they care as much about their fish as they do their food I wouldn't risk eating from here. This poor fish just shoved in a cubby hole on its own in an empty tank. Won't let me share the picture

Absolutely lovely family owned Chinese takeaway food All freshly prepared and presented with care and pride This family is from Hong Kong and features an impressive array of regional mainland cuisine. Additionally, there's an option of basic British dishes for the less exploring palate. I fly in to LHR weekly and drive to East Sussex. I find myself thinking about and looking forward to their culinary skills, which are always presented with a smile. Beijing Diner is a well-loved and respected business in Battle and certainly worth a visit! I highly recommend!!

Having read some of the reviews I was a little hesitant, but it was the closet by a long way so decided to give it a go. It did take longer than expected to get the food, but it was less than an hour for 5 meals which gave me time to get other food that we needed to suit everyone and do a small shop so I didn't mind. The food was good when I arrived and still really hot when I got back to where I was staying 15 minutes later, overall I was really pleased despite the wait

Food was ok, nothing special, portions seemed a little small (chicken chow mein) although there was plenty of meat on the ribs. Chicken balls were brown on the outside and very doughy (too much batter & cooked too quickly).

Amazing food. One of the best Chinese takeaways I've had in a while. Ordered at a peak time but the food was still lovely and hot and fresh. All dishes were very decent sized as well. Will definitely be returning

We have visited here many times and always enjoyed our food however when we got food from here tonight (Friday) it was not up to their normal standard. Both our rice dishes were absolutely running with oil/grease, they were literally sodden. Also kung po had hardly any taste and none of the chilli's had any heat to them. I don't know if they have a different chef on a Friday night or not but we were really disappointed this time around.

Food tasted amazing and plenty chicken balls and egg rice. Next day I have a server stomach ache and stomach related problems that followed straight after... its clear I've had food poisoning and I'm not the first to get it as shown on previous reviews. Do not recommend.

Food is never correct. And always keep you waiting over the time they tell you to collect. It's a shame as the food is a good, service is very very poor. This takeaway needs to be dragged into the 21st Century.

Far from the best in the area sadly. The spring rolls were supposed to be crispy but they were cremated. Ordered battered prawns and found a chicken ball... I don't think chicken and fish should be cooked together for allergy reasons but I'm no chef. The rest was ok.

Reviews were excellent but food not quite so. Sweet n sour sauce was odd. . Thick and bitter. Soup a funny colour as if old Sweetcorn used. Beware also that no rice included in price so its quite expensive. Not the best. Difficult to find to add it is dien steps and not in a road.

Been here a few times now. The food is pretty good (for this part of the world). Tonight was very disappointing because they were very under staffed. Poor girl was answering the phone, dishing out orders AND helping cook. I was told it would be an hour. Ended up almost 30 minutes later. Won't be back in a hurry.

Been using these guys for a while now and haven't got any complaints. Food is alway great and in my opinion more authentic than most other takeaways.

We ordered in Chinese New Year, so understandably they were running a little behind. They gave us some fortune cookies and a few cans of fizzy drinks that we hadn’t ordered, I suppose as a gesture of good will, although it was completely unnecessary. As soon as we got the food in the car, it smelt incredible. When we opened it up when we got in the house, it looked just as incredible. The chow mien and sweet and sour dishes were my particular favourites. Will be back- would highly recommend.

We had a takeaway at the weekend with friends and I must say it was just the best Chinese ever!! We had half duck to start and it was absolutely delicious. We had set menu E with a couple of extra dishes. We all said how much we enjoyed it!! Thank you Beijing Diner for a lovely meal 😁.

Good food and well priced, couldn't fault it really, a bit of a long wait of an hour the first time which was a Saturday evening but had another the following Friday and only waited half hour, can't understand why some people have left negative reviews, everything was cooked very well and service was pretty good, one of the better takeaways I would say.

Visited recently and was impressed. Prices were affordable and we got the classic dishes. The sweet sour Hong Kong chicken was crispy and the portion sizes were generous as well. It was good to see that the takeaway had social distancing measures in place.

We have missed our regular takeaways from here during lockdown! The curries and the chilli beef are our favourite and are consistently good. Would recommend telephoning in advance.

Had moderate good food here in the past but not this time. The cook and girl at the ordering seem to have changed - is it under new ownership? The food was awful and only ate half of one the two spring rolls ordered. Egg foo yung was a joke and unedible. Most of it ended up in the bin apart from our chickens who would not eat the spring rolls either. Never again I am afraid.

It’s a funny takeaway in that unlike most Chinese takeaways there is a huge amount of empty space inside the shop. They only do takeaways although it is big enough for a couple of tables. There is a little counter tucked away in the corner where you place your orders and they normally have a selection of newspapers there to read whilst you wait. Despite us going there for over ten years the person taking the orders never makes any small talk or even seems to recognise us. They efficiently write down the order and then pass it to the kitchen to cook. You don’t have to wait long for the food and we have always enjoyed it.

Awful food! Burnt, greasy, cold and no flavour. I collected my takeaway meal from here after nearly an hours wait and got home to find that all of the food was lukewarm, the sweet and sour battered chicken balls were greasy, chewy and overcooked, the mini pancake rolls burnt and squashed (looked like they had been defrosted, allowed to squish together in a lump then thrown into oil that was far too hot!), battered prawn balls burnt and noodles greasy and tasteless. I took the whole thing back to complain and had the chef try to tell me that it was fine, said he had to make sure that food was cooked and reached a certain temperature and that he didn't see what the problem was. I am a chef myself and know all about cooking temperatures, this guy clearly didn't as when questioned on it could not or would not supply me with a satisfactory answer. He then continued to argue with me and only after about 15 minutes did he relent and give me a refund. Avoid this place as I found the food inedible the owners to be argumentative, not particularly knowledgeable about food hygiene or food safety and a bad attitude all round!

STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE!!!! Myself and my partner bought a chicken chow mein and egg rice last night. About and hour or two after we was both left suffering from severe Diarrhea! I mean SEVERE. I do not want no one else to experience what we have been through!. Severe food poisoning.

Ok the shop is small, and is only a takeaway, but the food came quite quickly and was very nice and not particularly expensive.

For anyone who doesn't know Battle, It's small. It has a high street, several pubs, a few restaurants and a Chinese takeaway. We're held captive as it is the only one in the immediate area and on a weekend when people go out to socialise, they may also end up at the Chinese for food. We arrived just before 8pm, ordered three items (this does takeaway only) and waited, and waited and waited. It arrived at 9:40pm. The place wasn't packed, there were not coachloads of people waiting to be served, I counted seven people waiting for food in the time I was there, some had already been waiting over an hour. The food wasn't even hot when we got it home - a walk of less than five minutes!. I won't be spending my money there again.

Have visited this place for many years and consistently good food. Would recommend the specials and the house dishes.

How this Chinese stayed open for so many yrs is beyond me . maybe coz the people of battle can't b bothered to drive to another town to pick one up or that other Chinese don't deliver to battle? Should b shut down asap or someone take it over that can cook

Wish I had read the reviews before ordering from this place. By far the worst Chinese I’ve ever received. The chowmein was vile. no flavour, other than grease. The chicken was all fat and the whole thing was just disgusting. I normally give places the benefit of the doubt, but after waiting an hour for one dish that wasn’t even edible I’m thinking differently.

Friday evening...Poor quality, grubby front of House and no flavour. Ordered the Duck and Orange. Foil tin had sliced duck breast (overcooked and tough) with a whole sliced orange on top and a tub of orange/lemon curd!. Greasy special rise and "all batter" prawn balls. Don't bother.

Awful doesn't even describe it. We had duck with pancakes. Duck, pancakes, cucumber and onions were fine. Hoi sin sauce however was not hoi sin sauce, it was disgusting and didn't even resemble the hoi sin flavour. We had chicken balls with sweet and sour sauce. The sweet and sour sauce was not sweet and sour, I don't even know what it was. The chicken was mush and hard to distinguish between the chicken and the soggy, fatty batter. The spring rolls were greasy and inedible. The pork chow mein was not chow mein. The noodles were greasy, the onions were huge and the pork tasted like it had been cooked many many times and there was nothing else in it. No flavour at all. We've literally have been unable to eat our meal, maybe managing a few bites. Avoid this place!!!

Don't bother ordering on a Friday evening. Horrible at managing expectations. Was told half hour. Waited 1 hour and 10 minutes. If the food was worth the wait it would have been a different story. The sweet sour pork was decent but the duck in spicy sauce and mixed veg looked and tasted like the same dish save for several pieces of duck in one and not the other. Pretty standard Chinese take away fare, swimming in starchy sauce.

Shocking food chow main was boiled noodle with no flavour. 4 pieces of chicken that was whiter than prawn crackers. Tasted like bad soya chicken. Not good don't waste your money on crap. Special fried rice was passable but not great and shredded beef was slightly better. I never review but people should no it is pure crap.

I got sweet ans sour chicken balls but it was not all chicken it had pork and prawns in with it which i cant have fish so my wife rings them up and there say that she was lieing so not going bk there nomore
