Hong Kong House Chinese Takeaway in Rother

We have had great food and great service every time here and after a very disappointing hoi sin sauce at the dragon and peacock after using them for roughly 20 years we have switched to here. Highly recommend, especially the crispy duck.

Ordered a take away for delivery, the only way it can be described as is a tasteless, disgusting greasy mess. There was nothing nice about any of the food.

Thought we would try a different Chinese takeaway as our usual was closed big mistake flavourless food late arriving very small portions not good will not go back

What has happened to the food this used to be my favourite Chinese and is now my worst it was very bland the chicken balls were soggy the crispy chilli beef was dry not crispy at all the onions had been boiled very watery the soup was tasteless and very salty the chicken chow main tasted fishy the curry sauce is very sweet veg spring rolls were cold and soggy and the Singapore noodles were slimy food ended up in the bin waste of money won’t be ordering from here again very disappointed

The curry had way to much onion in it. The spring rolls where very salty, and the Singapore rice noodle was too spicy. Will not be ordering again.

Ordered food to be delivered and as Saturday night, we were advised 1 hour to deliver our order. Hadn't used this restaurant before, so was a little apprehensive. We shouldn't have worried, the order was delivered on time and the food was excellent. We will be repeat customers of Hong Kong House, well done!

I used to rate this place and use often, during covid the prices went up, fair enough and then again hmm, I now use my local Sunwah but still said if you don't mind paying 25% more Hong Kong is the best. NOT anymore, steadily is been going down hill, I bought a meal from there recently and let's say it was bland and half the chicken balls were left, that never happens. Just had balls again and they are just as bad. Won't be going back again. If you are paying top money you should get top food.

This is the best Chinese food I have ever eaten, highly recommended.

Visited on a couple of occasions. Food tastes good, however on our most recent trip after explicitly telling the staff we were vegetarian over the phone we unknowingly received some pork dumplings instead of vegetable. Really really disappointed and upsetting. Having not eaten meat in over a decade made us unwell. If you’re vegetarian / vegan, avoid or approach with caution.

Best food but when you spend half an hour trying to order on a Saturday with no intention to answer is just rude.

Avoid - save your money and go elsewhere. Salt and pepper chicken had no flavour other than plastic and was chewy like a rubber bands. Chicken in Fu Yung was grey. Maybe I have been spoiled by my usual Chinese (only used this one as usual is on holiday) but this was terrible and way below par. Waited 40 mins for collection opposed to the 20 mins I was advised. Took food back and was reluctantly given a refund. Never again!!

Takeaway is a great experience from Hong kong house food is consistent, but didn't like squid was too chewy. That's has not put me of as food in general is excellent overall.

Twice been here, twice short-changed on our order. First time not as many spring rolls as promised, second time didn't get our promised freebie reward for a £50 order, Not worth the hassle.

Best Chinese in East Sussex never mind Bexhill! Owners are wonderful and NOTHING is ever too much. I have been going here for year's for my Chinese take aways, food is freshly cooked, authentic, and they will alter any dish to your liking. If I have ever used another Chinese take away due to their holidays, you taste the difference and it's definitely NOT for the better! They also make my autistic daughter welcome and they are patient and kind knowing she likes to order and collect. I can't speak highly enough of them or their wonderful take away!❤️

Prawn with ginger & spring onion was tasteless. Shed loads of white onion, tiny bit of spring onion. Hardly tasted any ginger. Waste of money. I can cook better at home.

Everything was cold ,got seaweed instead of mixed vegetables,phoned to complain the owner made several attempts to blame the girl who took the order ,then she hung up on me so I phoned back ,this time her attitude was worse ,sent the guy round 30 minutes later with the vegetables would already eaten the bland cold meal ,no refund didn’t accept the vegetables and gave back the seaweed for them to sell to some other customer,this ruined our night and left us £29.90 out of pocket ,greed and bad customer service and mediocre food is there way of running a business

I had two meat muddles and one veg but inside veg all chicken bounces and chicken while my wife eating she find out then call them they nerves say sorry or give money back they told us sending new veg send the old one back that’s all.

We have been using this take away restaurant got years and we have never been disappointed. The food and service are always excellent.

We have often used Hong Kong house and were pleased when we were finally able to order as the pandemic restictions were eased. We had a special birthday celebration coming up on the 17th so my wife and I invited my cousin, son and his wife for a meal in our garden on Saturday the 15th August. We ordered our meal being careful not to over order as we were watching our diet after lockdown excesses. When our dishes arrived about 7:45 we eagerly opened them up to find a rather large housefly caught in the sticky plum sauce on the surface of the duck dish. A DISCOVERY! We put this dish aside and shared out what was left. This left us feeling rather cautious about the remaining food- and still a bit short of our plate. We tried to call a number of times to get a replacement, but it was always busy. The following day (Sunday) we felt Hong Kong House should be made aware. When we rang, the initial reaction was 'are you sure it was us?' We explained we ordered from them and it was delivered by them to our house. Yes, it was definitely Hong Kong House. Then we were told 'oh, I know how that happened' (I think we do too!) But no apology, or suggestion of recompense - even our money back for the uneaten dish, or spoiled meal. DISAPPOINTING! So we took it round to them feeling somewhat DISMISSED and perhaps disbeleived. The response again was disinterested. We asked for our money back at least, but this was disregarded and we were told 'money back next time'. STILL no apology or recogition of an embarrassing and spoilt birthday meal. My wife's response was 'I dont think there will be a next time.' I would suggest if you buy any food from them, you check any sweet sauces VERY carefully. I have uploaded a picture, but it would be easy to miss flies within it. We feel totally 'diss-ed' by appalling management of their mistake: DISappointed, DISmissed, and DISgusted.

I’m a vegan and on certain menus they will leave out and replace with vegan friendly option. They are especially helpful and patient with my 12 yr old autistic who LOVES ordering. Angela is wonderful and also the manageress. I won’t go anywhere else!! THANK YOU FOR BEING CUSTOMER FRIENDLY!!!

We order one veg Singapore noodles and one special Singapore noodles and prawns Toast gussied what happened to my vegetarian wife end up eating her veg Singapore noodles with chicken born and chicken meat in it . No sorry said just taken back old one and send new veg Singapore again very sad . My wife was sick all night 20 years she didn’t eat meat today end up eating please before buying from them think twice again how bad they cook inside

I always like to review honestly - sadly this wasn't the best Chinese food in my opinion. It was a bit tasteless. Saying that, my husband and family said they enjoyed it. Price was OK.

First time ordering from here and im glad i did. The lady taking the order was friendly. The food arrived quicker than expected and it was yummy!

As others saying, they were extremely rude. The chinese one who got my phone call spoke really bad english and shouted at me when she couldn’t understand what I’m saying. The kitchen looked so dirty, they nearly burnt my noodle last time I went there. There was a reason why people reviewed this place like this.

Really nice. Not greasy at all. Had chicken balls and mushroom chow mein which can sometimes be greasy but this was not at all.Phone operator was really lovely, friendly and helpful.Would recommend. Usual prices and delivery times, would recommend and will definitely be ordering again.Nice big mushrooms and decent chicken balls which were non greasy and had a good crisp to them with the batter. Chips were nice and chunky. Special omlette was a big portion and good value for money.

There are quite a few Chinese take aways in Bexhill and after using these last night I won't be using them again , taste of the food was average and the pricing was most expensive compared to all the others that I use. Would not recommend to a friend.

I love the food here, it's always cooked fresh and hot and I try to eat here every couple of months if I can as I love it. The only dish I've ever been disappointed with is the Sweet and Sour Hong Kong Style Chicken and Pork, tasted a lot like cardboard. Would like if they did sweet and sour pork balls, hopefully it will be something they add to their menu in the near future.

This is a good take-away service. The food is always hot and well cooked. It is delivered promptly and politely in clean bags with food covered by hygienic containers with sealed lids. The telephone orders are taken promptly and double-checked. A very good service indeed. The menu 'spread' contains many delicious dishes.

After buying takeaway few times great hot and able to consume BUT last time had delivered takeaway it was COLD AND UNCONSUMABLE called to say why and it was absolutely disgusting how we were spoken to we was asked to have 10 % discount but I refused as food was inedible for myself and Grandchildren cold ribs etc would have led to food poisoning and very bad belly the Hong Kong house said right as I asked for full refund and they collect Chinese their awful customer service was throw food away and here your refund and DON'T ORDER FROM US AGAIN I am so disappointed with this takeaway and how I was spoken too I WOULD NEVER ADVISE TO complain as they just thought how dare you complain if our food is not good TOUGH I ADVISE NEVER ORDER HERE TO EVERYONE

Food was nice enough but issues in my view. Katsu is Katsu only in terms if the sauce, squid and chicken is rubbery and lots and lots of onion to pad dishes out. Also slightly alarmed by ants crawling all over the floor where I was waiting.

They use fake ingredients! We bought a chicken dish and the chicken pieces were some rubbery substitute! Be careful!

Me sorprende no hay más comentarios. Instalaciones no parece mucho desde afuera, pero tengo que decir que tenía una fantástica comida para llevar desde aquí. No grasa, sabrosa y sin duda volveremos. Ha decepcionado con otras comida para llevar últimamente en la ciudad pero yo recomendaría altamente dar este lugar una prueba. No es demasiado tiempo para esperar para la entrega de un sábado por la noche.

I have often bought a Chinese take-away from Hong Kong House (mainly due to its location) and it has always been very good. I have not found a better in Bexhill. It is worth saying that the establishment is take-away only with no facility for sit-down dining.

The food here is absolutely delicious and the portion sizes are nothing to complain about. My family and I order food from here as a monthly treat and it never fails.I would highly recommend this take-away.
