Sugar Cane used to be our 'go to' Chinese takeaway, but our collection order this evening was really disappointing. I'm not sure if the usual chefs just weren't working today, but the food was way below the usual high standard. Half the dishes were lukewarm at best, the chow mein was tastleless and dry even though we asked for the one with gravy and the meat spring rolls were filled with what I can only describe as a meat paste and were cold. The only really nice part of the meal were the free prawn characters! Unfortunately it might be time to look for a new Chinese takeaway.

Only reason why we tried again (due to a bad experience before) is because sugar cane is shut for Chinese new years - ordered a meal without bean sprouts & onions due to be allergic to bean sprouts (not life threatening but causes irritation) my partner said twice on the phone - ordered arrived with bean sprouts - so called up and asked for another one - lady on the phone was condescending & arguing that we didn’t say no bean sprouts - when we had asked first what was in there and then again to say no to bean sprouts Lady that proceeds to tell me how the situation couldn’t occur and that it’s our fault & I then ask for the owner, she then answers “I might be” I then reply with “well I would like to talk to them”, then replies “well yes I am & been in busy for 35years” - why would you hide that you are the owner ?????? Absolutely appalled by the behaviour displayed - already thought it was expensive, then for it to arrive not tasting much and not as asked, pointed out how much I will not be returning. The lady re states the online procedure for repeating the order, I then replied with I am not stupid I do not need this explained as I will not be returning. Then she over the top stated that she will put a note on the system to refuse a sale Such a weird conversation, would avoid to avoid disappointment alongside expensive food & not tasting of much. Sugar cane or golden valley 100 times better

Singapore rice noodles are unseasoned, tasteless and without a trace of chilli. Thought the new "shredded chicken with thai sauce " was going to be coated in THAI sauce. As in red or green coconuty taste. I paid just under £9 for a crispy battered then sliced chicken breast with a pot of Thai Sweet Chilli sauce. This Chinese used to be the best. I won't be using them again!

We had an amazing meal from Ichi Tong last night. We ordered several dishes (all large portions) and would highly recommend any of them to others. There was nothing we would not order again. Try it for yourself. You will not be disappointed,

We had chicken sweet and sour balls and fried rice, the balls were vastly overcooked, some I could not cut into, the special fried rice was in 2 containers and not mixed together as you usually get it, I won’t be back to this takeaway again.

Haven't had a Chinese takeaway for a while, thought we would order from the Mandarin as heard food was good? The delivery turned up in the time given, but first of all the free prawn crackers were soft and all the beef in the curry both for my husband and myself was really chewy and didn't have much flavour, all in all very disappointed

Wah Ying House don’t cook the food there but they take orders from there but cook them in Peking House (next door) they have a little hole where they pass the orders in the other kitchen. So they take orders from 2 takeaways but the food is cooked in on takeaway. Once I’ve ordered food from them and I found hair in my food this is because they don’t wear hair nets and beard nets. This is all i had to say to them.

I’ve only ever eaten food from this place twice and will never again. Tiger Chan 20 seconds over the road is infinitely better. The order consisted of crispy chilli beef, sweet and sour beef honk kong style, ribs, egg fried rice and a started selection. The sauce in every dish was exactly the same. The crispy chilli beef was so crunchy it made my jaw ache and my gums sore. The spring rolls were soggy and not very nice, the crispy seaweed in the starter selection was alright to begin with but at the bottom was sodden with sugary/salty mush. Honestly it was all a colossal letdown. Not to mention there was a baby out the back screaming and crying I can only assume in the kitchen? Not a place for a baby! And to top it off they get awfully upset when you tell them you don’t have cash and the cash machine is broken. They very reluctantly take card. This SCREAMS tax evasion. Just avoid this awful place at all costs for god sake. Tiger Chan is so much better in every way.
