Kind staff fresh hot food never disappointed.

Wow this place is a rip off with awful food do not go here. What happened. I just placed a £35 order for two which anywhere else would have easily fed my partner and I. But the sweet and sour chicken balls should be held under the trade description act. Chicken strips or bites at best. My £10 duck dish had 6 pices of small dried our duck breast.. I've nothing positive to say about the place. Never again

Used to always get a delivery now we collect food alot hotter if collected. We have noticed they are quite expensive for example £3.60 for prawn crackers

If you want a Chinese try somewhere that will get you one… Ordered a Chinese for delivery, told it would be one and a half hours - 1 hour 45 goes by nothing, no call to say it’s delayed or there’s traffic - so I call, really sorry it will be another 30 minutes as we forgot your order… no apology no offer of a discount.

Sorry to say but I would have rather given the money to charity, absolutely disappointing, Chicken Hong Kong style was like eating extra dry pork cracklings, don’t even know if that was chicken, the Special fried rice was tasteless and already had doubts , we waited for it in the shop ( not busy, we were the only 2 in the shop ) and could tell that it wasn’t hot enough but gave the benefit of the doubt, when home my intuition was right. £14.90 in the bin, me and wife ended up eating bread and cheese, never again.

My go to takeaway place cause food is delicious, service is quick and always reliable. Plus the owners are so lovely.

I have had 4-5 takeaways from The Rising Sun in the last year the first and second 5/5 but the 3rd and 4th and 5th, I wasn't so happy with as their takeaways were quite greasy. I also had one of their drivers fail to bring a change bag or even have my takeaway in a heat save bag he was probably 20's and seemed to not care I understand this is a tactic that some delivery drivers use to gain an extra £ reward. But not the other driver that has delivered to me and I do have to say the other driver who I know really cares about his deliveries he's 40's and always has a laugh and joke, a change bag and a heat save bag I personally cannot fault him the food is always hot upon delivery. The Till staff that takes the orders is very polite and helpful regarding allergies. 5/5 Normally I would have scored the food 5/5 but lately it's just 3/5 in fact that one time my friend and me were meant to have a meal together most sadly was wasted, as it was barely warm and so greasy, it actually put us both off the meal and for that meal delivery by the 20ish yr old I give 1/5 id personally ask for the caring burly bloke that delivers wether I know him or not. I always like to try a takeaway a few times before commenting on them. So I can be fair in my answers and I believe I can now do that.

The young blonde girl, read out my order to me after I ordered everything and she repeated back to me 2x pork fried rice, I got home to find only 1k pork fried rice in the bag and I called them up and after she found my order and said you only ordered a one, I said I ordered two and then she had the absolute nerve to say well that’s what I repeated back to you when you ordered and said bye then hung up, she clearly doesn’t care about this Chinese, baring in mind Im a customer and a returning one who come in very often, absolutely appalled by her behaviour and customer service, I think she should find another job where it requires rudeness!

The food quality here is amazing with very generous portion sizes. Additonally the prices here are also very good for the amount of food you get. Definitely recommend people going their and trying it for yourself.

The worst, food looks fake. Must be on a budget. Never ever come here again. Don’t bother. The worst Chinese takeout ever period. Not recommended for a human. Can buy for your dog - just wondered the dog might pass🤦‍♂️

VERY average and VERY expensive for what it is. Smallest plastic containers you can get. Curry with about 6 pieces of meat in. Smallest bag of chips I’ve ever seen! Very disappointed won’t be returning £35 down the drain and still starving!

Use to go here all the time, but not anymore, my Duck chowmein, was really dry with hardly any duck in it, s&s chicken balls, portion size gone down, dry and greasy

Pathetically small portions of over priced food, sweet and sour chicken is like chicken, I presume The other half of my portion of rice i ordered is coming later. I give them another 6 months if they don't improve

Been coming here on and off for 20years but why are they so bloody miserable all the time. Now they’ve gone and put up the Perspex screen 3 years after covid and she sprayed disinfectant on her hands when I gave her my money. Talk about make you feel dirty. And you never get free prawn crackers even if you spend 20 quid or more. Nope I’ve supported this lot for years but this is the last time.

I won't be ordering from here again. We was really looking forward to a treat and the food was not great, especially my Chow - very burnt. My friends food was nothing special, said his chicken was over too. Fortune cookies were even a disappointment, tasted like paper and the fortune itself was cut off and all unreadable. Wasn't a very warm reception so won't be bothering to go back to complain, live and learn.

Ordered hose special chow mein pork fried rice and sweet n sour chicken balls pork was off stunk the whole house out. Tried ringing but no answer so went back into town and funny they r closed... environmental health next step.

Chicken fried rice - very bland a few very small bits of chicken Sweet n sour chicken balls - these were like hard over cooked chicken nuggets, very tough, sauce was tasteless. Mini spring rolls - again tasteless Bbq sauce - tasteless Sezchuan chicken - inedible hard little lumps of something. Complete waste of money, certainly wouldn't recommend them now at all.

If you want gluten free , forget it, they offer no GF dishes called to ask about GF options and was advised to choose a selection of 15 different dishes so that person can check with che . I suggested that perhaps it was best to ask the chef what dishes would be recommended and it turns out that there are no options at all Avoid!

Nicest Chinese take away in yeovil.

Ordered house special chow mein and received house special rice. No problem you think……phone the restaurant and they will replace you think. First, had very poor customer service by accusing us that we had ordered wrong, stating that they always say the order back, which they did……….house special chow mein!!! Never used this place before and never would again. When they agreed to replace and it arrived………..hardly a house special. 3 pieces of meat with loads of oil covered noodles and one prawn. Had to throw it straight in the bin. AVOID……..there are much better places to buy from, we thought we’d give another restaurant a chance. NEVER AGAIN. Very poor customer service and even worse food. Even my husband said the curry he ordered was of poor standard.

Dish not provided as asked for. Maybe they were busy or it was the Sunday chef, but a little disappointed. Usually very good, it’s a shame.

Very surprised when I got my takeaway. Everywhere I have had house special chow mein before, the noodles have come in one pot and the house special mix in another. Here, it came in one pot. The house special mix elsewhere contains big chunks of beef and pork, loads of mushrooms and king prawns. This had decent slices of pork, there was a hint of beef hidden within the noodles and some very small prawn shaped things. Not quite what I was expecting. Tasted ok though.

The single star was for the service! After a very difficult day a takeaway was to be had. The experience was not good, the chicken curry sauce was bland the chicken tasteless and tuff, the fried rice was bland and like it had been around for days or overcooked. The chicken balls were small only eight of them but probably the best out of a bad bunch, the sweet and sour sauce was not good and like jelly! Special fried rice over cooked, didn't look nice, blan and prawns were a bit iffy! Now how the hell can you go wrong with chips 🙈😲 small portion undercooked. This is the 5th Chinese Takeaway I've tried recently in Yeovil and to my experience they all need to try harder as bad food experience with them all, one if the things What I worry about is some takeaways pre cook rice and then kept in a warmer this is not good practice to my mind!

Ordered from here and asked for gluten free options and to my surprise there was quite a few choices. I had a lovely dish and so did my fella thanks for being so accommodating to my gluten intolerance, also the lady on reception was lovely and helpful thank you.The food tasted lush will definitely be ordering again from here :)

The food here first of all was very nice. Although one of our dishes did lack a little flavour overall it was lovely. The KungPo was excellent. Couple of reviews saying here the portion sizes aren’t great, I would agree but there was enough so not really an issue. Staff were lovely and friendly - only issue I had - it’s the only Chinese I have gone to where you spend over £20 and don’t get some prawn crackers thrown in!! Seemed a bit mean! However would come back and would recommend to others.

Really tasty, hot food with good fresh ingredients. This was the best Cantonese food I’ve ever had. Will definitely order again next time.

The first Chinese takeaway in Yeovil (I think) and still the best without question

Lived in Yeovil for almost 5 years now. Been to every Chinese in Yeovil before finding The Rising Sun. It more expensive than most but it’s cooked fresh and consistent. The staff are happy to adjust to your requirements and build a great rapport with customers. Honestly say best Chinese in Yeovil without a shadow of doubt.

Like many others I have enjoyed the food from this takeaway........until my most recent purchase. The sweet and sour chicken (in batter) and egg fried rice was not nice. The sweet and sour sauce was not sweet and sour, the egg fried rice was a solid compressed lump of something that looked like rice and the battered chicken was literally dripping with cooking oil. Not one of their best items from the menu!

Best Chinese in Yeovil but the customer service lets them down. On a few occasions something has either been missing or wrong and when speaking to the manager on the phone she was very rude, passing the blame onto me and wanting payment for sending out items they had forgot. Even asking to scrape food off of plates to box back up for their driver to collect when dropping off the original ordered items.

I've lived in Yeovil for more than 20 years and have tried most of the Chinese take aways around. The Rising Sun have consistently been the best. The food is well prepared and very tasty. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Lovely takeaway, from the rising sun tonight freshly cooked, sweet and sour chicken the batter was fresh and crispy, chow mein flavourful, crispy shredded beef perfect all tasted delicious. Delivered to the door at agreed time. Could not recommend highly enough.

Absolute rubbish! Girlfriend and I had a take away from this restaurant monday, duck was full of big bones which was not only off putting but meant the portion was small. My egg fried rice was over cooked and sludgy, my prawn toast was way over cooked and almost inedible. Mini spring rolls were the only thing not over cook but you can tell they were the cheapest versions possible! All this for nearly £25! Not happy at all!! Will never go to this take away again and will make sure everyone I know hears about my experience.

I can't believe I've found this takeaway, I'd nearly given up on Chinese food, as they all tasted strongly of additives. These guys make their own sauces in house, and prep their own meats rather than buy in ready to cook stuff. And finally a place that use grated scallop for their seaweed! Try it!

We used The Rising Sun for the first time yesterday and will definitely be using again. I phoned through an order whilst on my way home in the car and gave my estimated time of arrival home. The food arrived within the time slot given and was delivered by a very polite delivery driver. The food was piping hot and was absolutely delicious. Very impressed with the service overall.

I certainly would not recommend this place,we ordered 2 beef chow me in and once home and opened they were burnt,you could smell and taste the burnt in it,I took it back and received two more,again once home these were the same,both burnt but only difference this time was one portion only had three pieces of beef in it,it was clearly the worst place I had ever been and I won't be going back.

Doesn't accept card payment over the phone. This the the 21st century. What reputable company doesn't accept card payments. Driver wouldn't accept a cheque. They didn't say this when we placed order. Driver leaves with our meal as we didn't have enough cash in the house. If we could leave zero stars we would. You have been warned.

Just Passing through Yeovil and tried this local Chinese take away.Indgredients looked and tasted Good Quality which is a big plus when ordering take away food.Also 5 Star food hygiene certificate in window, wins my vote everytime, when i ve never eaten the food from an establishment before.

Very helpful and accommodating staff who will always consider your preferences for each dish. Relatively new experience for me but am gradually working through the menu and as yet it’s all been excellent, my favourite being the crispy peking dishes so far. Only negative I can think of is that some sundries eg rice can be a little pricey, so I tend to cook my own in that regard.
