Got food poisoning 😫 definitely won't be going back

Quite expensive and the quality is average which was disappointing. It used to be so good. Large portions. Delivery is good and very convenient.

Used to be a really good Chinese. The prices have gone up and the quality right down. Shredded chicken has next to no taste OR chicken in. My friend got food poisoning as well a few months ago. Best avoided, shame it’s gone downhill so quickly.

This Chinese has continued to maintain quality and value for money during tough times. Food is very tasty and their Singapore Fried Rice is the best I've tasted.

Need delivery to Tatworth - can't get a taxi into Chard or food delivered - someone should set up a business it would make a killing lol

Spent nearly £60 the other night not 1 dish I thought was good won't be going back the special fried rice was gooy chicken balls were well over cooked and burnt batter same as the spring rolls all the other food was very bland we were left very disappointed more than half got thrown away we used to rate top chef not anymore

Food over cooked ...long wait for delivery ...didn't eat half of it ..chips burnt..chicken overcooked ..not the best I've had

We’ve had several takeaways from top chef all were ok-good, occasionally some items wrong or missed but overall ok. The last takeaway was disappointing. The squid rings were very chewy and some were very hard actually inedible. The Thai dish was watery and lacked the normal punch. Recently we’ve also noticed the spring rolls have reduced in size as well. We always have to collect as they don’t deliver to tatworth/south chard. Unfortunately future wise we will be using the curry house and spice villa for takeaways.

Food mediocre. Used to be wonderful!! What's happened?? Staff attitude awful . Food cold and parts missing . Last few times we have ordered had bad experience one way or another. Prices hike up very regularly! Much better places around so will be giving this place a wide birth in future.

We used to order quite a lot here but unfortunately the last orders were extremely disappointing, the food is usually quite fast and the portions are quite big but lately the last orders were tasteless and dry and some dishes were soggy. I used to order mainly because of the duck but the last orders the meat had an odd taste which to be honest it made me doubt about the food quality.

Very nice food, the staff not the most jolly of people when they take your cash. Will 100% go back.

Lovely Chinese, I'm a regular customer, can't fault the food, very busy Fridays, I would give 5 star except for these two reasons only, for the last four takeaways ordered there is always something missing from our order and not written on boxes number ordered (note to self to check before the travel home), I suggest they write on the plastic boxes the number ordered so not to miss packing them for the customer and the customer knows what they have. Other than that it is well worth the gorgeous food.

Best takeaway in the area. I travel from Seaton in Devon to get a takeaway. Best thing about it is you can make your meal bigger for £1.50 😊

Lovely food, helpful staff and good portions all cooked very quickly. It's just a pity that they will not deliver to Thorncombe!

Terrible service, simple order or special chow mein an chicken balls, got rice first time so called up, after an argument I finally got told to take it back, then got home only to find second time around chicken chow mein.

Can't and won't admit when they are wrong, let alone give a simple apology and offer to rectify the issues. Certainly won't be a returning customer! Stay well clear if I was you, you won't be a valued customer.

Tried garlic and butter king prawns, sweet and sour chicken, and hot and sour soup, absolutely delicious. Ingredients fresh, potion generous, can't wait to try other dishes. Compliment to the chef and the team.

We had 7 meals tonight from here and everybody said how nice they was we travelled to chard from Ilminster and definitely worth it quality 👍

We've tried every takeaway in Chard, Axminster and Crewkerne. Top Chef we have tried 4 times and had multiple issues ranging from food being burnt to incorrect orders. When they are contacted, sadly the view appears to be that the customer is always wrong and no effort is made to make it right. Danny's Garden (Chard) or Golden House (Axminster) are much better and more consistent.

Always always always delicious. The sweet and sour chicken balls are out of this world for taste and generous size. Also the salt and pepper spare ribs - good and crispy with a real kick. Love everything :)

Brilliant if you want food poisoning... Chicken was undercooked in the chicken and pineapple dish. Two of us who had this were both sick the next day and this was the only meal we had in common. Second time from getting food poisoning from here, wont be returning ever!

I’m so used to English Chinese takeaway food being so bland it’s sometimes hard to tell one dish from another. Maybe it’s the fact Top Chef do Thai food as well as Chinese but every dish tasted unique and flavoursome. Their menu looks quite limited for veggies/vegans but I messaged them and they were super friendly and very happy to make any dish vegan, although they don’t do tofu which is a shame. Still, we’ve been in the area for seven years and it’s the best local Chinese takeaway I’ve had by some way in that time, so will definitely be our new local!

Moved to the area nearly a year ago and we had the task of finding our best/local Chinese takeaway. We've tried ones in Axminster, Bridport and Lyme Regis. This one is BY FAR THE BEST! I'm still dreaming about the banana fritters one week later! The lady serving the til and answering the phone needs a pay rise! She was so busy running around serving and answering the phone, but so quick, friendly and efficient. The sweet n sour chicken balls were amazing! The sauce was great, not too sweet like the other places we've tried. And the chicken balls weren't soggy like other batters. Great all rounder, price, portion size, waiting time etc. Can't wait to go back. Would be great if they extended the delivery area. Highly recommend!

Top Chef... REALLY? They Cook all the food in one fryer, so if you are vegetarian beware because all of the food is cooked with the same oil. Raw food like chicken, ribs, rice, noodles and prawns are left out on the corridor floor with lids open to defrost. People are walking past the containers all day. BBQ and sweet and sour sauce is kept in a big dustbin for weeks on end. In my opinion, Top Chef should be minus 4 stars. As for food hygiene agencies, they need to reconsider their career. All in all a very bad experience and I strongly suggest you be very cautious if you decide to eat there.

Really good! Better than the ones in Ilminster! Gave us free prawn crackers and the portions were great really tasty food. No onion in the chow mien which I thought was great! Will be using again. Thanks

Not the best and not the worst takeaway. Had a few from here as it is reliable and delivery is nice and quick .

I was staying in Chard for a few days and wanted a Take away, tried the the Top Chef based on reviews and found it to be excellent.

Food was yummy as well as plentiful deffo recommend

I found the curry sauce in my chicken curry to be too sweet for me and not enough heat.

Most of the food was decent but the beef was really fatty and way to chewy to eat, apart from that it’s pretty good food, once we called so we could pick up after half an hour and have it ready, we got there half an hour later to be told to wait about an hour, so as long as you don’t mind waiting an hour go for it!

As a family of 6 we ordered many dishes including chicken chow meon, curry, egg fried rice, chicken balls, chicken satay etc. We drove 10k from where we were as it had a good write up. On returning to our lodge we found one of the chow mein was missing. We should have checked but not a good start. The chow mein we did have was dry and very bland. The egg fried rice appeared to be brown rice with very little egg. The chips were very dry and the curry was stodgy and tasteless. It’s a shame as the staff were pleasant and it was for my sons 16th birthday meal. Unfortunately I have to say it is ranking with one of my worst honest meals that I’ve had. Also the 5 star food hygiene shown on the web is now only a 4. Not horrendous but is misleading. We are on holiday so wouldn’t use it again but even if we returned we would avoid. All I can say it was reasonably priced but if you don’t enjoy it then it’s not value for money.

Food is fine, you get what you order, it’s hot, well packaged but not outstanding. However, it’s not expensive and the staff work their socks off, particularly the lady in front of house who is constantly answering the phone as well as dealing with people collecting and placing orders. Can be a longer than expected wait when busy particularly Saturday evenings.

Had the set meal for two food was delivered quickly and piping hot Very happy with verity of flavours and generous portion sizes had leftovers for lunch next day! Thanks very much.

When we occasionally have a takeaway top chef is our place to go to. We absolutely love the food here, it is delicious. Always hot and so tasty. They also deliver which is a bonus. Wouldn't use anyone else. Definitely recommend.

This is my go to takeaway for Chinese, very reasonably priced and so so yummy! Especially the smoked spiced chicken, a personal favourite!

We couldn't decide what to cook for tea and thought let's try that new Chinease well it was lovely I had a Chinease fu young and egg friend rice it was one of the best chicken fu young I have ever had quick service and very friendly and helpful staff was really nice :)

I have to admit that I only used this takeaway initially as all the others in the town were closed. However it is now our outright favourite. Large portions, great flavour and well priced.

Im a local chef in the area and sometimes i just dont want to cook on my day off.We have had a few visit here now,including a excellant home delivery service.Each time the food has been first class and plentiful.Sometimes the dishes i have choose are abit to sweet.

Was wary as never tried this Chinese before and I am fussy with food being top quality and taste. However, this place served up the most delicious Chinese food I have had in a long long time. My son who should be a food critic claims this to be the best Chinese he has ever had. Brilliant food, excellent price and will definitely be back again, spreading the word!!!

Can't fault anything we had...it was all Hot and delicious.Don't bother with the other in chard this is the best!

Eaten from here several times, food has always been excellent. Staff seem friendly and helpful. I have not used home delivery so can't comment.

Salt and pepper chicken was a bit flavourless and there were bits of tomato in the Thai fried rice that made it mushy? Not the best but ok.

Excellent meal would highly recommend. Full of flavor.
