Happy Garden in South Somerset

Brilliant food with very good portion sizes. The staff were lovely. Very good valve for money, with good prices. Ordered in the take away. The food made quickly, don’t need to wait long at all.

the aromatic duck was totally delicious and definately heading back for more food. the rest of the food was just as delish, as takeaways go i rate this one to go to on my initial visit, cant fault them.

Food was lovely, cooked in a reasonable amount of time and the portion size was good too. We were here visiting the area so didn’t know the takeaway, but for a visitor it was exactly what we needed.

A very tasty Chinese takeaway that I enjoyed with my family, I just wish they delivered. We have recently moved to the area and wanted to try out the local takeaways. Ichi Tong was very tasty and it was hot and fresh. I did really enjoy this, however it’s slightly pricey but it is great quality. Tempura prawns were my absolute favourites.

Friendly staff nice clean premises however our food wasn't very good and one of us had a dodgy tum the day after.

Stunning food and great staff ! There's not one favourite on the menu , all amazing flavours and great quality . Well recommended. I would drive from Shepton any day to eat here 😋

They do my tofu, it's the only takeaways in Langport. Somerton & Ilchester don't do tofu's. I always choose this takeaway, cos their foods are lovely.

I’m astonished to read some of the bad reviews on here. My wife and I just had two bento boxes and some sides. And it was absolutely delicious. Not the normal chinese stock garbage that 90% of chinese takeaways churn out. Will definitely come again. Thanks for making our evening 😄

first night living in Langport and got takeaway from happy garden worst decision ever food was disgusting. 3 years later tried it after seeing new owners had taken it on. what a decision food fantastic had a good mix from the menu as we were a group of ten and couldn't fault a thing. been back since and the quality has been superb. so good to have a first class takeaway on our doorstep. just one thing cash only but there is a cash point just up the road

We will be moving to the area soon so we wanted to try the local take aways beforehand. We ordered a chicken katsu bento box, tempura prawns, a mixed hors d’oeuvres, a pancake roll, crispy chilli shredded beef and some mochi balls. Everything was delicious, full of flavour very tasty and didn’t leave a heavy/greasy feeling. Everything was cooked to perfection, really flavoursome and so fresh. My favourite was definitely the tempura prawns they were incredible such a beautiful light and crispy batter! The girls behind the counter were really helpful and polite too. Thank you so much Ichi Tong, we will definitely be back soon! ☺️

Just wanted to say we had a take away meal from Ichi Tong and enjoyed it very much. The food was flavoursome and the portions were generous and we were all very happy with our meals resulting in clean plates, so well done them.

This nearly tops the lot of awful Chinese food. I rarely find a Chinese takeaway where the food is good, frequently just about edible but this one, chose a chicken dish, then a spicy chicken dish, spicy was same as plain but with some mildly spicy gravy??? Green vegetables were, not sure what they were but uncooked & inedible. Cannot recommend this.

Just had an awful meal from Ichi Tong. Both the curry sauce and vermicelli noodles were so salty they were inedible. The chicken balls we had consisted of very over cooked batter and hard meat in the centre. Not sure what went wrong tonight but mostly ended up in the bin. We have had better from here since the new owners but not this evening.

Being new to the area, we had looked at reviews for Happy Garden, which weren't great. However, it is now under new management and the food was fantastic. So happy! Really good size portions and full of flavour.

Having eaten here a couple of years ago and the food being disgusting, we vowed to never return! We had heard it was under new ownership so decided to give it a go, the food is amazing! There is a new menu of both Chinese and Japanese food, it was all very tasty. It is so good to have a decent Chinese takeaway on our doorstep. We will definitely be back!

Wow wow wow being a local used this place a few times and been mediocre but tonight it blow me away I don’t know if it’s changed hands or just a new chef but one of the best Chinese meals I’ve had can’t wait to try more dishes. Thank you we’ve got a fantastic take away back in langport yeah

Amongst our order was a beef & black bean sauce. Was very spicy & mostly inedible. Not like any other black bean sauce dish we’d ever had before. Rest of order was good, and collection time was bang on, can’t fault that. Good value for money, portion wise.

Went to try this place for the first time tonight and it was without a doubt the worst food i have ever bought from a takeaway literally had one mouthfull and it went in the what sort of chinese cant even do chow mein? Avoid at all costs

Normally very good food. On my last visit the food was poor. I usually have a meal for one which is normally cooked to perfection. On my last visit however it was almost inedible. The rice was mushy. The chicken balls were over cooked or the oil needed changing in the fryer. And the beef with veg was tasteless.i think they had a different chef on that night.this is the second time that the food wasn’t up to standard. I will give them one more try. If I have bad food again I will go elsewhere.

Delicious food, good service. I stopped using another chinese as it was greasy but this restaurant food really is and tasty too食物美味，服务周到。 我停止使用另一种中文，因为它很油腻，但是这家餐厅的食物确实也很美味.强烈推荐这家食物。

I decided after years of avoiding because of a inedible meal a few years back that maybe it had improved.... after all it’s still open so must of improved. Well it hasn’t!! I spent close to £30 and it went in the bin. Do yourself a favour and don’t bother the food is honestly Nasty. Drive the extra distance and go to Somerton.

When we moved here, two and a half years ago, I read the reviews of local takeaways and decided to avoid this one like the plague. However, on the advice of a friend we have made recently, we decided to try it, having been advised that the awful reports that had been posted may have been malicious.I ordered what I thought would be sufficient for the three of us. It was prepared very quickly and off we went home. We all had rather more than we could eat and all of it was very tasty.We will certainly be using this place again.

Fast turnaround time on my order, excellent portion size, large and varied menu, well priced and very tasty. Recommended

After getting a second job I decided to treat my daughter and my self to a meal, she chose Chinese as it her favourite. I can quite honestly say that was the worst Chinese I have ever had. The house special fried rice was half the size as every other place I've eaten, it was about 40% cabbage with small bits of meat the were chewy and gross, the little rice there was was water and over cooked and the flavour, of what there was, was gross. The ribs were greasy and by far the fattest ribs I've seen. The chips were OK but the bottom of the bag were inedible. The seaweed however was good. All in all a waste of money

Bland over cooked food full of MSG would not feed it to dogs it is that bad - moved here recently and tried it in our first few weeks and as soon as we open it we knew it was not going to be good a few mouthfuls later and it was in the bin. Stay away unless you want to waste your money!!

Thought we would give this place a try as its now local to us since moving. Food was awful, tasteless, bland and very non appetising. We threw it all away after the first couple of tastes. Won't be going back again, very disappointing.

I've used this take away a few times now, and I find their foods are reasonable, good value, and they do Tofu. The one in Ilchester and Somerton don't do Tofu. My husband is pleased with his food.

We are locals and have previously enjoyed this Chinese, but unfortunately the last few visits have been disappointing and the food has been of bad quality, we are therefore now going to the Chinese in somerton instead sorry!!

We went to the Chinese on Monday evening for a takeaway... had a set menu... it was excellent.. phoned order through first and was ready when got there... good service and great food.. will b going again... excellent

Ordered sweet and sour pork hongkong style no veg what i got tasted so terrible i had to spit it out it was like mush inside tasted like it had gone off and had been frozen stay away if you want a decent meal

Very friendly service and excellent food. Didn't have to wait too long and always get offered free prawn crackers which is a bonus !

This is a fairly average Chinese take away. The staff are friendly and they always get the orders right, the food is good but nothing to rave about. They have a pretty good menu and are happy to make dishes to your taste.

Compré 2 pollo al curry y arroz y un pollo con arroz kung po. Deberíamos haber dado cuenta cuando nos pidieron pagar extra por ellos para poner las castañas de cajú en el pollo po pollo kung que iba a ser horrible!!

When it first canged it's name it was the best in somerset but I don't know if they have changed there chef but now it's the worst. The currys seem to have to much garlic and very watery.

Worst Chinese we've had, ordered a take away to picked up once we got it back which was 5 minutes away, food was cold, sauces watery, the prawn dish wasn't what we order complete waste of our money, will not be using again.

We had the sweet and sour prawn balls... the worst I have ever experienced. Imagine a fried scone with a prawn inside... that was how it tasted.Large, dough ball..The chips were nasty.. the egg fried rice over cooked. All in all pretty poor. And cost me £17.. Needless to say, will not be taking away again!

Varied menu. Food usually good but flavours alter probably depending on who is cooking that night. Usually quick and generally ready before the time you are given when you ring to order

We have take away every week from Happy Garden, and it's always good, but tonight it was exceptionally good! Everything cooked excellently, as good as any sit in restaurant. Couldn't criticise any element.

Quite the best value Chinese takeaway I've had in a long time. The portions were enormous and the food was very tasty, and hot. We were visiting - highly recommend this place.

We discovered this Chinese Take Away while on holiday. Very good food, great selection with friendly service & really good prices.Easy street parking nearby as well.Well recommended !
