I’ve only ever eaten food from this place twice and will never again. Tiger Chan 20 seconds over the road is infinitely better. The order consisted of crispy chilli beef, sweet and sour beef honk kong style, ribs, egg fried rice and a started selection. The sauce in every dish was exactly the same. The crispy chilli beef was so crunchy it made my jaw ache and my gums sore. The spring rolls were soggy and not very nice, the crispy seaweed in the starter selection was alright to begin with but at the bottom was sodden with sugary/salty mush. Honestly it was all a colossal letdown. Not to mention there was a baby out the back screaming and crying I can only assume in the kitchen? Not a place for a baby! And to top it off they get awfully upset when you tell them you don’t have cash and the cash machine is broken. They very reluctantly take card. This SCREAMS tax evasion. Just avoid this awful place at all costs for god sake. Tiger Chan is so much better in every way.

Absolutely awful. We checked reviews and decided this read as the best of the two...just. The egg fried rice was coagulated mush, and the rest of it was tasteless. We didn't eat it.

We normally eat at the Tiger Chan opposite but found them closed for holiday when we last visited so thought we'd give this place a go, wish we'd not bothered: From the get go we weren't impressed as after placing our order we are told we only take cash, yet no signs anywhere about this and we're told we'd have to go to the cash machine in the town in the rain, had there been a sign outside saying cash only we would either have got cash before or gone elsewhere, I guess they only take cash for tax evasion. We ordered what we always have from the other place, chicken chow mein, chicken fried rice, chicken balls, spring rolls and bbq sauce. It sounded like a creche in the kitchen with some child screaming its head off. After a 15min drive home the food looked OK, however there was a distinct lack of chicken in both the rice and chow mein, the rice was very stodgy and both the sweet n sour sauce and bbq sauce looked almost identical, just some coloured gloopy liquid, the batter was barely cooked through on the chicken balls, the free prawn crackers were also stale, the food was pretty bland and tasteless. All in all we should have gone to domino's on finding our normal place shut, certainly won't be coming back here again.

Absolutely disgusting! Tasteless soggy batter on balls raw inside! Do not go there save your money! No wonder it only has a 1 star rating

Never used this takeaway before, phoned my order through and told 35-45 minutes to collect, fair enough! arrivede and asked for payment, once paid waited nearly half an hour with the other eight people in the shop? walkins were being told food would be about 15 minutes, lots of chatter in the kitchen to listen to but be fair what was going on here?, thats the bad out of thew way! Food was great, deep fried chilli beef, pork and a beef chow mein, sweet n sour ribs, sweet n sour chicken, pancake rolls were all good, really good in fact. There was no ugly to be fair, would I use again? yes if they get it together with the ordering and collection times as people do not like to be faffed about.

This is a take away restaurant. We popped in for some dinner. I ordered pork and cashew nuts and my husband ordered sweet and sour chicken we also ordered rice and noodles and were given a bag of prawn crackers. We went and had a drink while we waited as our order was going to be 20 minutes. It was ready when we returned for it. We were delighted to find the freshly cooked food was so tasty and delicious. We will certainly use the Golden River again and recommend it to anyone needing a quick tasty dinner.

Been plenty of times over the years and always beem excellent UNTIL TODAY!! 2 quarter crispy ducks with pancakes were disgusting- nothing like used to be. Not at all crispy - virtually all just fat and tiny bits of bone (they had shredded it for us on request). We threw it away. Very disappointed. Has management changed?

Decided to grab a take away from here for a change. It used to be very good, but I am sorry to say it isn't now. Won Ton soup was extremely salty. Now, I like salty, but this took it to a whole new level. The Won Tons were also considerably smaller than they used to be. Salt and Pepper King Prawns - batter was far too thick and also very hard. I ended up taking the prawns out of the batter. The only thing that was edible was the Chow Mein. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. The only saving grace is that they said it would be ready in 20 minutes, and it was. They may be keeping their prices down, but it really it at the expense of the quality. Give it a miss if you know what is good for you (and your purse).

This was one of the best Chineses' I've ever tasted! It was not too greasy or salty, it had the right balance! The squid could have been a little crisper but absolutely amazing!! Would definitely recommend!

Went here last week as we were staying in the area. Huge menu, but a very friendly service and we didn't have to wait long for our order. Food was hot and tasty.Good portions and would go again if in the area. Very good spring rolls and good tasting curry. Good chow mein. Good prices.

Order collected was wrong so had to go back to replace. When finally got the right order it was very poor. Undercooked chips, freezing cold spring rolls, foul tasting Kung Po chicken.. fried rice was good .. can’t say anything else positive.

I telephoned through my order at 1655 to be picked up at 1815. I arrived a little after 1815 and stood in a queue that had no order to it. One would expect, in these COVID times that a takeaway establishment would have a system in place to cope with a large New Years Eve order book but no. I stood outside the establishment for an hour and a half waiting for my order, having confirmed three times that it was nearly ready I finally got it at 1945 having watched 20 or so later orders go out before mine. I am normally a patient person but even I was on the verge of giving the poor girl behind the counter a verbal dressing down. Not only was my food late beyond funny but when I got home it was teppid at best and stone cold in the case of some of the dishes. I will never go there again and I would advise everyone else to stay away during COVID at the very least as there were no procedures in place and absolutley no social distancing inside the establishment. Dismal!

Friendly staff, good variety food , very tasty, good price, good portion which more than enough, unfortunately no helal meat, chicken.

The menu runs to over a 100 dishes and there are many variants of similar dishes. Actually very very good food though and I have considerable experience with Chinese food... For a takeaway it's good and I suspect if you chose the right dishes very good.

Four of us had a variety of dishes and they were all delicious and fresh, large portions too. The owner was really friendly and flexible with the dishes when I ordered. I would recommend the crispy duck, ribs in honey sauce, kung po king prawn and szechuan chicken

Whilst on holiday and browsing through the leaflets at the accommodation we found one for the Golden River Chinese takeaway, gave them a call, placed the order and collected the food from very friendly staff within 15 minutes. The food was very tasty and enjoyable, recommended you give it a try

I Had to use this place as the other one was closed! There was an odd taste in the food! I Won’t be visiting again!

This place is usually ok if a bit ‘hit and miss’ but last nights take away was a disaster. We had singapore rice noodles which were so overcooked they had gone to pulp. The main meals king prawn with ginger and spring onion were bland and the pork in yellowbean sauce was ok but very salty.

though we would have meal at this place DO NOT bother it was treble the rice was like glue, just stick together, beef in the chow mien was full of fat not eatable, the chicken spicy was hard and not got gold teeth to eat, I will NEVER go there again

due to a total absence of sit down chinese restaurants in the area we had takeaway this christmas eve. for generally good and plentiful.

Although not our local we always make a point of travelling to our favorite Chinese. Great food with great portions. A few times we have experienced a huge delay on food. Even after ordering over the phone and waiting to leave when advised. We can always guarantee the food is worth it.

Ojalá lo habia intentado antes!Servicio muy educado y amable, la comida congelada mientras espera, raciones grandes y muy sabrosas. Como he estado encontraba, decidimos pedir en vez de cocinar. Este es 1 de 2 China de aquí. Elegimos este tiene otros estaba cerrado y nos habíamos probado eso antes.Mientras que ordenar por teléfono, la señorita que me contesto tenia que tomar nuestro pedido varias veces. No estoy seguro de si esto era por el ruido de fondo o no. Era un martes por la noche temprano, así que no creo que les fueron ocupados.La comida estaba lista a 10 / 15 minutos. Es más caro que el otro y la comida no estaba caliente. La verdad es que no vivo a 3 minutos a pie de allí, así que no esperes bien caliente. Estaba un poco decepcionado de que era apenas tibia.Los brotes de soja eran sosas, sin sabor. La carne crujiente chili estaba bien. Ordenados los vegetales Schezwan. Pensé que me gustaría probar algo diferente. Sin embargo eran un desperdicio de dinero. No me había dado cuenta de que iba a ser setas y puramente prácticamente nada más. De lo contrario no habría ellos ordenados como odio los champiñones. Lo que era un plato desperdiciado.No estoy seguro de si podré utilizar estos nuevo o no. Quizás les daré el beneficio de la duda y probar una vez más. Quién sabe

A big choice of food menu , the staff was very friendly , I rang un to order for collecting and it was on time . Good price too .

Anticipated a nice Sat night chinese last week, big mistake to go to this one, rice greasy and seemed reheated, chips dank, curry ok, sweet and sour as tough as old boots. How this place gets such high reviews is beyond me. Seriously people, you can make better at home save your money

Used to visit this chinese when living in Beaminster, now I live even further away in Bridport but this chinese can not be beaten. Try the meal for one (enough for 2 if you add spring rolls) and you will not be disappointed.

Food served in very good time and very hot, the staff were very friendly and polite staff. We rang before collecting food and it was ready on time. Large choice of food on the menu. Would recommend to others.

A take away with excellent menu choices, big, tasty and reasonably priced meals with a quick service. The fried rice was one of the nicest rice dishes I have tasted in years.

I love this take away, the best take away in the area, I have used it now for many years and they never fail to satisfy your taste buds. Very generous size portions and quick and friendly service, well worth a visit.

Absolutamente maravillosas comidas proporcionadas rápidamente y agradablemente por el personal del mostrador. calidad de la comida es excelente y muy sabroso. Precios decentes. Sin duda el mejor de la zona, y muy posiblemente más lejanos 5 ***** Nos darnos el capricho alojándonos es una o dos veces al mes y no iría a ningún otro sitio.

Lovely cooked Chinese meals to take away. The staff are very friendly and we never have to wait very long for our food to arrive. We love this place
