Ordered duck chowmein as it’s my usual favourite, noodles under cooked & very salty, duck more fatty than usual, meat spring rolls half the size that I was expecting, and hardly any meat with a very over powering sauce, very disappointing

1st time that I have visited a take-away and a popular dish was unavailable. 2nd choice was a disaster, 2x sweet and sour pork balls. Tough pork, stodgy balls. Vast portions but not really appetising as they were gross. Couldn't even summon up the inclination to eat the 60% that was left for the following day! Disappointing and will not be returning. Far better available elsewhere in the area.

As we were staying in the area for the weekend, whilst exploring around Stourhead, we ordered a takeaway from Summer Palace, we were told it would be ready in 20 minutes, so just in case it was ready early, we went in after 15 minutes, we then had to wait another 20 minutes before we got our order. We took it back to our place and sat down to enjoy our first Chinese since lockdown. We ordered the crispy chilli beef, a chop suey dish, chicken balls, rice, and chow mein. The chilli beef was as tough as old boots, the chicken balls, the batter was soggy and pretty revolting, the chop suey was swimming in oil/grease, and every dish had a nasty background taste. We then checked the scores on the doors website, to discover the takeaway had a food hygiene rating of 3. Lesson learnt, will check that first in future. also wish we had checked Trip Advisor as it would appear we are not the only ones to get a bad meal from here.

We’ve tried this Chinese takeaway on several occasions giving it the benefit of the doubt, but to be honest the food is appalling, I’m not sure what the secret ingredient is, but within 30 minutes of eating anything (and we’ve tried lots of dishes to find one that’s nice) you won’t be feeling the best and it lasts for at least a day afterwards, we now get our Chinese from a place in Bruton and It is far far better than this sorry excuse for a Chinese.

Genuinely never tested anything so vile in my life- 9 dishes ordered 5 put straight in the bin, full of grease , no taste. I have seen and smelt better things come out of my kitchen sink. Expectations were not high to begin with (especially seeing our prawn crackers being stored in a bin at the counter) and looking at fellow reviews but thought we would give it a fair crack. However as a above I wouldn’t feed this food to our dog, one member of our group was throwing up after 10 minutes. I have never written a review like this in my life but unfortunately this fully justifies such a poor review. Avoid like the plague.

After visiting wincanton for my birthday weekend, and only having 140 pounds of my life savings left, I went to the horse racing, and lost 100 of it, so I thought well if this is the end, I just aswell use my last 40 for a nice takeaway, well, it is the last supper I'm afraid, after writhing in agony after the crispy shredded barbed wire got stuck in my throat, I survived, then after having some fun with the dissolving crackers I finally built the courage to eat the box of onions in a clear syrupy sauce, to my surprise I did find a peice of chilli and a peice of chicken hiding like wheres Wally. I'm a man who has eaten alot of bad food, but couldn't even stomach the thai red curry, which was actually yellow, yeh authentic. Maybe il try wincanton kebab next time if I busk for some money, oh wait, that nearly killed me aswell. avoid, avoid, avoid. My last words

Decided to chance this Chinese after reading the reviews... big mistake. The sweet and sour chicken was stringy and overcooked, the fried rice was swimming in grease and the shredded chilli beef was absolutely disgusting. I’ve never seen anything like it - literally looked like shredded boot leather and tasted worse. The Thai red curry looked appalling and went straight in the bin after one mouthful - from a guy that eats nearly anything. Save your money - this place is not worth it and we’ll never be going back. Diabolical.

The food there is not the worst neither the best! I order my food from hear every Friday evening and what I order varies from squid to pepper in oyster sauce. Good flavours and I would recommend but don’t be hoping for the best meal of your life

When in for a takeaway. Only two meals with rice. Two dishes that got wrong and gave us something different and the food was tasteless and we had to wait twenty mines for it although there was no-one in there.

We placed a pre order over the phone for a meal for 5 people, they were busy (normal Saturday night level of customers) and they said it would be an hour. This was expected and we were fine with it. Sadly when we arrived, 5 minutes before the hour was up, nothing was ready. 15 minutes later, still nothing. In the end, we waited another 45 minutes for our order in a small and uncomfortable shop front. The staff were barely apologetic and we have not eaten here since.

Had a takeaway from here. Chicken chop suey had a fishy after taste, the sweet and sour chicken balls in batter were inedible, the batter tasted odd and was soggy, it’s supposed to be crisp! The crispy aromatic duck was DIY and was literally a roasted duck in a bag. Seriously poor standard of food.

Like others have found, Summer Palace in Wincanton is an absolute disgrace. We picked up a large (uncomplicated) order for our family the other evening. As soon as we opened the food, we knew it was going to be disgusting. The pancakes were mouldy and covered in grease, and that was just for the starters. The mains were no better! One of my family members even had to excuse themselves so they could get rid of their food in the most politest way. Needless to say there was a lot left over and I would definitely not recommend this place! Avoid at all costs.

Decided to grab a takeaway tonight and unusually even though they were busy it was not very nice. The rice undercooked and very greasy and pale, bits of egg shell or something similar in it making it crunch when chewing it was that bad we binned it. Not sure what is now meant to be egg fried rice in colour and flavour but all it was resembled undercooked rice, lots of oil and bits of egg. Not good for them, Not sure if we will go back which is def unusual for us.

Was in Wincanton for one night only & didn’t want to eat in a restaurant so decided on a Chinese takeaway. Took approx 15-20 minutes to arrive after ordering but well worth the wait. Food was really hot compared to my local takeaway in Cornwall, was clearly freshly cooked and tasted great. Had the house special mixed fried rice & asked them to change the gravy for bbq sauce which they did with no hassle. Would recommend & go back if I was in Wincanton again.

Decided to try a new take away, what a bad decision that was! We drove 45 minutes there and back to collect our food to be totally disappointed. We are not usually ones to complain especially with a take away but this food was awful! No effort put into it at all. It was totally bland and dry! Chow mien was literally just some dry noodles with dry chicken, chicken with cashews was basically chicken and nuts floating in garlicy water, crispy chilli beef just bland, no flavour no kick! We were so disappointed we took it back, we had literally taken a bite of each dish to try it, the containers were still full of food however after driving all the way back they were unwilling to help. Refused to re cook or give a refund. The service was awful, a man came out shouting telling us to get out of his shop! The most unpleasant situation I have ever experienced!!

Recived poor quality of food . Decide to take it back . Food is good most of the time and chef is always happy to make a fresh one but the service their is absolutely rude , disgusting with no what so ever manners towards their customers. If someone takes back the food as he is not happy who has payed for it expects the food to be good.. In this case a girl that was serving us decide to have a conversation with myself that the food (watery sauce with no taste) can be served like that and she is only making a point to me! Got to improve your service otherwise you might loose a good customers who's been with you for years. Disgusting manners with no customer skills! That's wrong!. That's us gone now

Wah Ying House don’t cook the food there but they take orders from there but cook them in Peking House (next door) they have a little hole where they pass the orders in the other kitchen. So they take orders from 2 takeaways but the food is cooked in on takeaway. Once I’ve ordered food from them and I found hair in my food this is because they don’t wear hair nets and beard nets. This is all i had to say to them.

Singapore rice noodles are unseasoned, tasteless and without a trace of chilli. Thought the new "shredded chicken with thai sauce " was going to be coated in THAI sauce. As in red or green coconuty taste. I paid just under £9 for a crispy battered then sliced chicken breast with a pot of Thai Sweet Chilli sauce. This Chinese used to be the best. I won't be using them again!
