Very nice Chinese, curry is great, rice is not dry and is clearly being made more to order, rather than sitting all day and reheated. They don't do deliveries and only use cash, and despite this making interactions a little more akward, it has a steady flow of customers and it's because of the quality of their dishes, I would recommend!

I’m not sure what these wet meatballs are on about, saying this Chinese takeaway is bad. We’ve moved here over the weekend and wanted to try the Chinese, originally put off by the bad reviews, but then saw the responses from New china cottage which had us howling with laughter and we decided to give them a go. My partner ordered and picked up the food within 30 minutes. The food was hot, tasty and honestly took some stress off of our shoulders. 10/10 SMASH. Would and will be coming back again for more. If anyone’s turning into an ogre at sundown it’s me because I’m going down to the fridge to snack on leftovers 😌 Fab stuff New China Cottage 👍

Ordered a takeaway. Missed off rice from order said it would be 10 mins to deliver it. 50 minutes later and we are still waiting on rice so all other food is stone cold? ?. Rang me back 5 mins after 1st phone call and said itd be 10 minutes more. No option for a refund online either so now £20 down drain . First and last time using this place

Poor food, worse attitude — won’t be returning I had high hopes for Merit Chinese Takeaway, but this was one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve had with a local takeaway. The food was below average — greasy, bland, and clearly not made with care. The chicken balls were mostly soggy batter with very little meat inside, and the curry sauce tasted like it came from a packet. Rice was dry, noodles were overcooked, and nothing we ordered had the freshness or flavour you'd expect. But what stood out even more than the poor food was the atmosphere inside the shop. While I was waiting for my order, I witnessed the owner speaking to young staff members in a completely unacceptable way. It was unprofessional, condescending, and bordered on outright bullying. No one — especially young people likely in their first jobs — should be spoken to like that in the workplace. It made the whole experience uncomfortable and awkward. If the food had been incredible, maybe I could overlook a few issues. But when you combine subpar quality with an unpleasant environment and a lack of basic respect for staff, it’s a definite no from me. I won’t be supporting this business again.

Ordered delivery which was super quick but the food was overpriced and lacked substance. Singapore chow mein was just noodles with very little meat content and a portion of spare ribs which cost £8.80 were just bones with very little meat. Disappointing
